Transfiguration 7:1

Professor Lyra Potter walked into her classroom with a bright smile on her face. She loved being back in the castle for the start of the term, but she missed her husband already. Lyra perched on the edge of her desk until all of her students arrived. "Welcome to your final year of Transfiguration. I am Professor Lyra Potter, and I will be your transfiguration professor this year. I look forward to getting know each of you this semester. I know you have your NEWTs looming at the end of the year and my goal is to make sure you are ready for them. We will cover a few new topics, but in the process of covering these, you will be reviewing for your exam."

Professor Potter hopped off her desk and began to circulate the room as she continued. "Today we are going to start with Untrasfiguration and reversal spells. Untransfiguration is returning something to its proper form. Untransfiguration is essentially a reversal spell. We will learn more about these types of spells this term," she said pausing for a moment.

Giving the students a once over, she realized that was enough talk for the day. Application of the lecture was more interesting for students. She remembered that clearly from when she was in school. "Today we are going to work on conjuring chairs." With three taps in the air, Lyra conjured a simple wooden chair as a demonstration for the class. "It is not necessary to do anything complex. Just imagine a plain wooden chair. The more complicated the chair the harder it is to create," she said. There were a few she knew would want to try a more complex chair, but she hoped they would wait until they at least have a simple wooden chair first. "This is a nonverbal spell, but it is important to use the three-tap method with your wand. Now, once you have a standard wooden chair, bring it up to me, and we will test your work. Any questions?" she asked.

Seeing none, Lyra waved her hand at them. "Have at it! You have the rest of the class to practice. I will be here if you need any help." Professor Styx moved to sit on top of her desk, watching their work intently.

Mikael stepped into the Transfiguration classroom, finally his last year of this. He made his way to his seat and hoped that this class could easily be dealt with. Untransfiguration and Reversal spells. Now those would be useful indeed. It was familiar and yet new. Why untransfiguration wasn't taught in earlier was a mystery to him. Also would transfiguring a transfigured item require two untransfigurations or just one. There were a couple of questions in his mind that would require some research in his own time. He analyzed what the professor had in store for them - conjuring chairs nonverbally with the three tap method. When they were released to practice, Mikael took his time. He wanted to leave the classroom at the soonest time but rushing wouldn't give any useful consequences. He envisioned the chair calmly and once he was settled, three measured taps into the open air with his wand. A simple wooden chair snapped into place in front of him. He kicked at the legs with his foot, it seemed stable enough. He was not going to be sitting on it though. Since he had a functional chair, he waved his wand and used the Hovering Charm to bring the chair over to the professor - he was hardly going to be physically carrying it around - to be graded so he can leave.

Bailey was glad Aunt Lyra was sticking around as a professor and that she would have her for her final year at Hogwarts. It was just a shame she wouldn’t get to be taught by her mum during her temp assignment at Hogwarts. She couldn’t believe how much family she had under one roof. Maybe Uncle Ezra would show up next year as the potions professor. She had no idea if he was qualified to do so, but it seemed to be the trend that the Cade family was slowly taking over the school.

For their final year of Transfiguration, they would be learning about Untransfiguration and reversal spells, which sounded complicated. To kick things off, they just had to conjure a chair, which seemed simple enough. Bailey took out his wand and, with a quick use of the three-tap method, conjured up a simple wooden chair and took it over to her aunt for review. Once it had been graded, she made her way out of the classroom.
