Noel was feeling mixed about the evening at the Yule Ball. He would try and avoid Minnie as much as he could. He did not want to ruin the night of Hattie, who he wanted to get to know since they were paired up as dates. She was an roommate of Minnie, he had something with Ravenclaws it seemed. Noel waited in the Great Hall at the girl since he wanted to be there already and girls already needed more time than he did it seemed. Liam was an different story he took so much time for his hair, Noel didn't understood sometimes. He took an drink in his hand and poured another one in case he could offer Hattie. He didn't knew where to look for but spotted his ex girlfriend already, with Blake. He sighted, this was not good. It hurted him that Minnie didn't showed any interest in him, like he was never there. Like they never even had something together. But he had to move on, this would hurt him more. So Noel decided to focus on Hattie, to make sure she had an great evening. ​

Hattie had never been on a date before and so wasn't really sure where to begin when it came to getting ready. Most girls she knew would take their time with this, making sure their hair and makeup was perfect, but what took Hattie the longest was deciding whether or not she really needed to put that much effort in. She rarely wore makeup as she didn't know how to, and didn't often attend the Yule Ball for that exact reason. She didn't know who to turn to about it. Her father obviously wouldn't know anything, and talking to Minnie about going on a date with her ex would not be a good idea, and so she just decided in the end to not do it. She made her way into the Great Hall and looked around for Noel. When she spotted him she made her way over to him. It seemed he had already found the drinks. "Hey." she said casually, giving him a small smile. She couldn't believe her first date was with her only friend's ex.

Noel waited for his date and when he saw Hattie going at him he smiled shortly. This was more awkard than he thought, but he would not want to ruin the yule ball for that. They could just hang out as possibly friends? There was no romantic sparkle he believed between them. Not the one he had with Minnie. But he shook away that thought quickly. ''Hey Hattie. '' He than said friendly with an warm smile. '' You look nice. Something else than Quidditch clothes right?'' He believed he had to say something to her and hoped some jokes would break an tension. He knew she was an friend of Minnie's but he had no idea what Minnie had say to her. '' Would you like something to drink?'' The Gryffindor asked her. He wanted to be an gentleman and kind. He was wondering if Minnie looked at him. But she didn't even seemed to care. ​
