Christmas was definitely one of Ava's time of year. It was a toss up between Halloween and Christmas as to which one she actually preferred. Christmas was beautiful and jolly, but Ava loved dressing up at Halloween.
The Great Hall was, as always, dressed immaculately. This time of year was a wonderful time to show off the beauty of the Castle. Even though a New Zealand Christmas was summer and hot, the Hall's ceiling had been charmed to look as if it was snowing; something Ava always thought had a Christmassy feel rather than summer; perhaps it was due to growing up in England, but the Headmistress loved it none the less. Trees adorned every corner, twinkling lights floated around the room. The four tables had been moved aside for the Yule Ball, and a band was playing softly on the stage, ready to get the night going. One long table was at the side of the Hall, a feast of holiday goodies waiting to be eaten. The Hall was beginning to fill up, and everyone looked amazing.
Ava stepped up onto the stage, and spoke into the microphone. "Good evening all. You all look, absolutely stunning. I don't have much to say, just have fun and behave!" Ava grinned. The Headmistress stepped off, and the band started an up-beat song. Ava danced her way to the food table, before eating until she could eat no more.
