Onyx was nervous. He couldn't remember ever being this nervous for anything. He spent nearly an hour showering, scrubbing himself clean, washing his hair. He spent another hour wrapped in a towel, carefully styling his hair, doing his eyeliner. He added a light coating of a darker eye shadow. The darker color made his eyes pop. He almost put on dark red lipstick, but... something stopped him. He couldn't figure out what, so while he was debating, he went on to get dressed, very carefully slipping into slim jeans and cute boots. He was tempted to dress up more, but Jamie had said 'smart casual'. Onyx found a short-sleeved white shirt, rolling the sleeves up a little more to make it look better. The suspenders weren't really needed, but he thought it made him look smarter. The jacket he'd picked to go with it looked good, it made the outfit complete, it made him look cute and casual but also a little edgy and stylish. He was sure he looked great.
He draped the jacket on the couch and moved back to the bathroom, still debating the lipstick. Was it too bold? Too dark for him? He sighed, eventually going for a deeper pink, one that would darken the color of his lips in a good way, and one that came with a pleasant cinnamon tint. He hummed happily, feeling better now that he was ready, looking fierce. At least, until he happened to glance at his phone. He was running late, almost fifteen minutes past when he had agreed to meet at Jamie's apartment. His eyes widened and he pocketed his phone quickly, double-checking his reflection before apparating out.
Onyx reappeared on Jamie's front step, practically bouncing on his feet as he knocked on the door. He let out a shaky breath, heart pounding in his chest. He could feel the flush in his cheeks, the slight shaking of his hands. He tried to still that by placing his hands in his jacket pockets, his... jacket... Onyx nearly groaned, swallowing nervously. His whole look was ruined without the jacket! Did he have time to pop out and back in? Before he could even begin to step back, the door had opened. "I didn't forget my jacket!" he squeaked, wide-eyed. He straightened, swallowing nervously. "I mean- I'm late, I'm sorry, I- heh, hello," Onyx blushed, looking down. He was making a fool out of himself already.
