The Sorting Ceremony

Elsie's energy was bouncing off the walls and coming back into her - making her bounce around even more. The blonde held her sisters hand tightly and spoke rapidly about who beautiful the building was, and how cool the flames were. The portraits moving around and speaking was even more interesting, causing her to ramble on as well about those subjects. "And then the picture back then was like a woman and she was dancing, oh Evee this is going to be great. Please smile! It's going to be so much fun I promise we won't get separated and we will make friends!" The blonde was so sure that she could convince the hat of this choice that after her sister was sorted she barely waited for her name.

Bouncing up to the stool she took a seat and the moment the hat was on her head she started in. 'Mr. Hat I know you make decision really well, and that you're amazing at your ob but my sister can't be in a house alone without me. She's going to need me. I will come over and clean your house, hat apartment, or whatever if you do this for me please. I don't want her to feel alone. i want her to have fun here. She's my sister after all, we can't be that different right?'

"On the contrary. You can be very different. Now let's see. Where to place you? Better be...Gryffindor!"

Standing next to his twin, Dante was waiting to be sorted. Everything was surreal to the boy. How did a hat know which house one belonged to. Magic was a new concept to Dante and his twin. He was still coming to terms with it and he was actually excited thinking of all the possibly adventures that the future could hold for him...and Darcy during their time here.

"Wrynn, Dante."

He walked to the front, to the stool and took his seat. As the hat was placed on his head he looked straight at his twin smiling, thinking "Please put me in the right house.

Sawyer was surrounded by people, in a sea of unfamiliar faces and unfamiliar hands. Shoulders brushed gently as they were hearded like cattle into a brightly lit hall - and everything for a moment became blurry. What was Sawyer to expect? Noah always spoke so highly of this place, but he was different from she - more outgoing, carefree - he was a disorganized mess that fit right in, did that make the school a mess as well? Thoughts raced through Sawyer's mind, and considering he last name she had plenty of time to think about them. The list dwindled on, person after person sitting under the same hat. What if someone had lice? The brunette pulled the hood up on her robes when it came time, so instead of sitting fully on her head it would sit on the easy to wash robes.

'Mr. Hat i hope you bathe.' She thought fervently, waiting to get out from under it.

This was what Ayame had been waiting for since she was six years old. She couldn't wait to learn about magic and make her father proud of her. It seemed like a near impossible task at times making her father proud of her. He was just so hard to please and she never seemed to live up to his lofty expectations, the first failure seemed to be not being born a boy. He even had expectations on which house he wanted her to be sorted into. He had told her that he expected her to be sorted into Ravenclaw or Slytherin. She was scared of the fall out if she was sorted into either of the other two houses. Her father was not cruel and he most definitely never lifted a hand in violence to her, but his disappointment stung like a thousand little knives.

"Hayabusa, Ayame."

As she made her way to the stool, she was thinking "Well here goes nothing. I hope I am not a disappointment to my father." She looked around the great hall as she sat down and the hat was placed on her head.

"Fortunately for your father, there's no doubt that you're a RAVENCLAW!"

Tsukino Akemi was not entirely sure how she felt about standing in the midst of a crowd within the Great Hall of Hogwarts New Zealand right now. Sure, she had gotten her acceptance letter - much to the shock of the whole Tsukino family of course (even though Ryuuji had already noticed and she was trying to deny it to him and to herself at first). They had initially thought that Rin would be the last and only witch in the family considering they were a family of muggles except for the two children that had been adopted many years prior. It's just that, the whole thing has not quite sunk in yet. Nope. Not even as she stood watching magic itself for the whole trip from the station to the castle. Still, as she stood there, she was somewhere in between gawking and being skeptic really. She had never seen magic to this degree after all - only Ryuuji's subtle magic tricks every now and then when he thought no one was looking. Anyways, she really did have to listen to the headmistress speaking lest she misses her name being called.

It wasn't before long that her name had been called forth and she walked towards the stool placed in front of everybody - almost dragging her feet. She still wasn't really sure if this was a dream or not and if she'd wake in her room to find that no, she didn't have magic and that she was normal. But nope, in that long seconds that nothing happened, she merely shrugged and sat herself, fidgeting in her seat whilst the hat was placed atop her head. "Psst. Between you and me, you've been talking for the past forever that we've been standing there. This is real right? I'm not going to just wake up and find that this is a dream?" She did have to ask the hat. It was a talking hat. And if anyone would be able to wake her up if this was just all a dream, it would be the hat that would inevitably shout atop her head - and near her ears.

"Yes, this is very real, and you're very much a HUFFLEPUFF!"

Vitalija's eyes were wide with wonder as she looked around what was known as the great hall. It didn't matter who a person was, how could they not be amazed by this? Adjacent to her was her sister, whom was easy to stay near - a comfort zone of sorts. "Lija, no matter what we stick together!" She spoke in their native Lithuanian tongue. She clasped her sister's hand until the time came, and when it was that her name was called, Tally made her way up to the stool and sat down, not bothered by the eyes on her. Whatever house she was going to be in she'd be proud of - and make the best of it. As long as her sister was with her.

"Your self-confidence and ambitious goals will serve you well in SLYTHERIN!"

Lija's hand did not leave her sister's for the whole duration of the ceremony. There was no way that she was letting Tally go unless she had to and hopefully it wouldn't be for very long anyway. The second the two had got sorted they would be back together again in no time like nothing had really happened. She breathed deeply as she waited for the hat to call her name and stared at one of the stars in the ceiling, almost praying that she would not be parted from her sister. Lija smiled when her sister offered her words of comfort "we will Tally, no matter what!" she whispered back to her sister and squeezing her hand just before the hat announced her name and she stepped towards the stool and sat down while she waited for the hat to decide where she would end up.

"I'm afraid you and your sister will have to find ways to be at each other's sides while you're nurtured by different houses. You're a GRYFFINDOR!"

Antonio grimaced as Athena nudged him on their way into the Great hall. It was truly enormous and it was rather amusing to see Athena in awe of the place. Sure it was grand and impressive but Antonio wasn't as impressed as his sister was. Antonio made his way down the aisle between the tables along with the other first years as they headed to the sorting hat. Ever since hearing about the hat Antonio had heard about the sorting process at Hogwarts he had wondered what house he would be sorted into, and he had no idea even as he was about to go through the process. Antonio had to wait a while for his name to be called, but he was at least glad he got called before Athena.

"Rey-Martinez, Antonio,"

He turned to Athena and smiled at her before he made his way up to the stool and had the hat placed on his head. Antonio had no idea where he would go, but he was eager to find out where he would be making a name for himself.

Ivy hated this. Everything about this was wrong. She shouldn't be here, in these stupid robes, with a dumb stick of wood in her pocket, or walking into a castle that apparently used candles for light. She saw how they all hung in midair which should've been cool but honestly it just looked dumb. She looked around the massive room and saw that the ceiling was enchanted to look like the outside sky. Big deal, there were glass roofs to do the exact same thing, what was so special about this, just because it required some fancy spell? She rolled her eyes and sighed as she waited out the Headmistress's speech and what they were supposed to do. Ivy had no idea what the Hat would do once they placed it on, and she knew nothing about any of the houses, but she caught on quickly once she saw the other students go first. She saw various different tables cheer once their respective names were called out but she didn't really know what they stood for because she hadn't paid attention to the Hat's song. Once her name was called out, Ivy pursed her lips and thought she might as well get this over with as she walked up to sit on the stool.

Luke Starlight was excited. He was so astounded at what the great hall looked like. His brothers had told him all about what it had looked like. He got in line of the new students, and waited for his name to be called. He was super excited, he was springy on his feet as time got closer to his name being called. When he saw his brothers sitting at their house tables he waved at each one of them. Finally he was next.

"Starlight, Luke!"

Luke walked up and the sorting hat was placed on his head. He was eager to find out what house he would be placed in, as he didn't really care which one picked him.

"You could be a great Slytherin, but your ambition is tempered by a concern for others... You'll be a fine GRYFFINDOR!"

Oceanus Kingston walked into the Great Hall, where his mother once taught years and years back. She was once the Hufflepuff Head of House, and also the Arithmancy professor. While he doubted that he would be in the same house as her, he hoped that he would be able to succeed better than his brother, Godric, before he transferred to another school. Oceanus stood next to his twin, Hyperion. If anything, he was sure that his twin would probably be in Hufflepuff. As the names were called, one by one, the twin looked about and heard other names of various other twins that were in the school, their year alone. That was strangely odd. Oceanus shrugged, wondering if this was the year of the twins. Eventually, his name was called, and he walked up to the front of the podium, completely ignoring what his brother was sorted into due to his name. He sighed, and sat down, feeling the hat placed on his head. The boy closed his eyes, wondering where he might be best in. Sure, he might not be able to say for himself, but he was sure that he would be placed in the best, most logical fit for him. If only his best friend was here. She would be in this same place next year though. He could wait a year to see if she was sorted into the same house as he.

"So sure of where your brother would be, huh? Turns out you're the HUFFLEPUFF!"

Hyperion Kingston walked into the Great Hall, trying to keep up with his brother and looking at everything in the Great Hall. The magical sky kept him in awe, but he felt some of the other peers keep nudging him to go forward. But, this place looked absolutely amazing, and wondered why his mom quit her job to come and raise them when she could have been sitting at the staff table, watching over her children and see them get sorted herself. Sometimes, he wished that but his father worked for the Ministry and needed someone to be home to watch him and his siblings. But, his older sister was now married, and Godric remained in Scotland because that was where he wanted to be. After some names were called, Hyperion took in the song that the hat sang, before it stuck within his mind on how magical the hat really was. Hyperion soon heard his name, which he had to be nudged up to the podium by his brother. He walked up and sat down at the stool, and felt the hat perch on top of his head. Hyperion looked over the crowd and closed his eyes. The attention was on him, but at least he was finally being sorted!

Charlotte had spent all morning on choosing her nicest outfit for this very special day. She got what she wanted and convinced her parents of going to Hogwarts New Zealand in stead of Ilvermorny. When Charlotte got something inside of her mind it was hard to get it out of it. She was wondering which house she was gonna sort, she read something about each house and she felt more attractive to some than others. In Hufflepuff there was her brother placed and she would find it lovely to be with him. He was a bit older than she was but that didn't mattered. When she saw Matthew again she was sure gonna have a talk with him, he didn't came home with christmas and acted pretty weird, she wanted a explanation for sure.

When the blonde arrived at the castle she hold her bag tight. She had looked around to different students who seemed around the same age and was wondering which one would become her friends. She was gonna find some friends for sure, she always did. The blonde was very good at reading people and if you knew what people wanted you could try and give it. And for Charlotte that wasn't really a problem, she was raised with a lot of wealth and she always got what she wanted. And even now she could go to the school she wanted, her parents didn't want that in the beginning and it was still a bit weird why she couldn't but she was just happy that she was standing in front of a big door where it would lead her to her glorious future. She was certain she was gonna do very good and wanted to make her parents proud of her. When Charlotte walked to to front and they were asked to wait there for a moment she looked around. She had thought more high of the castle when she heard Matthew spoke about it, but for the blonde nothing was really good enough. She was a real perfectionist and well it all had to be perfect and the castle was a bit on the old side for her taste. When her thoughts wondered off she heard her name getting called and it was her time to sit on the chair and a weird hat was getting placed on her head. A talking hat? For real? Was a hat gonna tell her where she would belong? The blonde thought of it as strange, but she waited until she got placed and smiled bright in the crowd as she waited.

"Why yes, a hat will tell you where you'll belong. A hat imbued with the magic of all four original founders - more magic than you'll probably experience again in your life. Go join your friends in SLYTHERIN!"

Liam was early up today he couldn't really sleep from excitement. He would join his cousins and sister on Hogwarts New Zealand today and he couldn't wait. He wanted to become a auror just like his father and from day one he was gonna work at that goal. But also where he couldn't wait for where the new girls he would meet. Gosh he loved girls! Liam spend a lot of time at his looks and when he was satisfied he got on the train with Beaubelle to Hogwarts New Zealand. He and Beaubelle were completly different and he was wondering if people would notice they were siblings. He wasn't gonna scream from the rooftops, but he didn't hate her she was just the favorite of his parents. The blonde boy pulled his hand through his hair one time and when they arrived at the castle he got a smile on his face. The castle was incredible and he couldn't wait to see the inside of it. And so the blonde was one of the first who entered the castle, he made sure of it.

As they walked into something they called the Great Hall, Liam saw his sister and cousins sitting. He was gonna sort into a house with one because his family was pretty big. Beaubelle was in Ravenclaw, Gabriella in Slytherin, Sofia and Gabriel in Gryffindor and Therese in Hufflepuff. He had no idea where he would become and he didn't cared that much as long as it was a house that did good in classes and wouldn't stand in his way. When he heard his name getting called out he went sitting on the chair and the sorting hat was placed on his hat. This was gonna be excited, he hoped.

"There are students in every house who do well in classes. That's up to you, not your house, and no house that I place you in will ever 'get in your way.' Go on, get in SLYTHERIN!"

Exciting and rivalry energies filled the room once the students gathered in the great hall, of course Aubrielle paid no attention to people who were overly competitive. The blonde waved at her sister who was sitting in the Ravenclaw table, eyeing at two seventh years cousins whom she just known to exist.

"Grimm, Aubrielle"

The girl's heart pounded as she walk toward the stool, hoping that the sorting hat to sort her anywhere near those that scared her.

Leaving behind her siblings had been hard, it had been exceedingly hard, but despite it Frances was excited. She couldn't wait to get started, she couldn't wait to get sorted. The girl stood with the rest of the first years as they entered the hall. She'd been pretty down about the entire thing, but now that she was surrounded by people, now that she was surrounded by her classmates she felt pretty happy about it. She couldn't wait, she'd already spotted the ground through a window and all the adventures there were to have there. In the forest, at the lakefront, in the school itself. There was a secret room she was definitely eager to find. She couldn't wait to try quidditch, to make friends and really just have a great adventure at this school. Frances knew that she would have to go to classes and spend time doing more boring things, but she had to learn every corner of this place, every secret, she had to have an adventure a week or it would be pointless. She would throw away her chance at a magical school. Frances watched as the hat sang his song, knowing this was going to happen. And then it began. She was one of the first names to be called, a surname like hers of course. The girl stepped forward, pushing through the crowd, tidying up her uniform and with all the confidence and bravery she could muster sat down on the stool. The hall was so much bigger from up there on that stool, she could see the four and couldn't wait to see where she might end up, knowing that regardless of where she'd have fun and make it her own. Frances couldn't wait to see in which house her school adventure could begin.

"Your adventure begins where so many of the greatest adventures seem to - GRYFFINDOR!"

Unlike most of the students who were excited over wearing Hogwarts robes, Vaska was actually quite annoyed with it. The color was plain, the model showed none of her curve, nothing good came out of it! The girl rolled her eyes as she watched herself in the mirror with the outfit that she called as an oversized sack bag. Her hands reached for her skirt, pulling them up so that her knee and thigh were exposed, spreading her messy curled hair to her side. The blonde hair bounced perfectly as Vaska walk with the group, entering the great hall. It wasn't as impressive as she thought it would be, she had seen better castle, yet her mother wanted her to be with her siblings, so here she was.

"Vetrova Vaska!"

Vaska was too caught up with her french nail that she began to giggle thinking about what Matthew had said about her soft hands.

"Vetrova Vaska!"

The headmaster called once more "oh s!@" she muttered and walk toward the stool confidently. She waited for the talking magical thing to sort her into whichever house that it thought would suit her, uhh yeah. All the houses were lame and so were the boys, gosh she wasn't interested in any of them.

There was so much for Kaz to take in, everything looked so majestic, and that was only from the train ride to the entrance of the castle! He could only imagine what the rest of the school had to offer for him, the possibilities seemed endless. He couldn't wait to learn everything he possibly could about magic even though he saw it at home regularly. It was a different experience to finally be able to learn about it himself. Kaz filed into the great hall with the rest of the mass of first years and hardly paid attention to the speech at the beginning because he was too busy looking at everything around the room, noting all the different house colors and wondering where he'd be placed. He could hear the excited whispers from his peers around him but he was too shy to chime in his agreement so he silently marveled at it in his head. His name was closer to the end so he had to wait a while but finally, "Rashid, Kaz" was called and he walked cautiously toward the stool. Kaz felt his palms begin to sweat when he saw everyone staring up at him but he didn't have to see them for long as the hat was placed over his head.

Mia was excited to finally be at Hogwarts after her brother had been sorted last year. She wanted to ask him so many questions about how school was but her younger sisters had annoyed him into kicking them all out of his room so Mia hadn't been able to find out anything about Hogwarts. Still, she was glad to be here because she had worried that she would be a squib. Lots of her family members were squibs and she didn't know if she had enough magic in her to be a witch because she had never performed much magic as a child growing up. Mia tucked her hair behind her ears as she waited for her name to be called and glanced around at all the students, looking for her brother but there were too many people. She liked watching everyone be sorted and wondered where she'd be placed when she finally stepped up for her turn.

Amelia felt like she could picture the Hogwarts castle before she had even stepped into it, after years of indepth discussions with her older brother. As soon as she entered however, it became clear that Matthew's discriptions didn't give the school justice, but it certainly gave his stories greater context. She smiled as she remembered one particular Yule ball story, she could picture her brother walking across the entrance hall with his date. She wondered if when she went home she would have stories to tell too. Amelia was soon snapped out of her daze when the group of first years were stopped at the door to the Great hall and after a quick introduction were led inside, down the aisle between tables to the daunting sorting hat which sat on a stool at the front. Amelia was a little nervous, she had no idea what (or if) her blood families house history was, but she knew Matthew had been in Ravenclaw. As her only family member to have gone to Hogwarts New Zealand, she hoped she would be able to follow in his footsteps.

Amelia waited nervously as the first years began to make their way to the hat. She was quite high on the list, so it wasn't long before her name was called and she made her way to the stool and hd the hat placed on her head. Her stomach was in knots as she waited for the sorting hat to begin speaking. Where would she go? Would she follow in her brothers footsteps? Or would she go elsewhere?

Davina's heart gave a wild shudder. She was here. Really here. At Hogwarts. She'd not seen much of the castle yet - only the outside, the main entrance, and the great hall - but already she felt tiny, almost insignificant within its walls. And so cold. How on earth was she going to get to sleep tonight? She shivered again, stepping forward in her herd of unsorted students as they made their way toward a stool on an elevated platform. One by one the children were called up to be placed in their Hogwarts houses, none of which Davina particularly felt she was suited for. Wherever she went, she couldn't really imagine herself getting along with her housemates. In Ravenclaw she would forever envy their intellect, in Gryffindor she would be intimidated by their adventurousness, in Hufflepuff she would feel overwhelmed, and in Slytherin she was sure she would be squashed.

After some time Davina's name was finally called. Wiping her sweaty palms on her plain robes, she mounted the platform and sat down on the stool. Would the hat be able to hear her pounding heartbeat? She hoped not. Her mind was racing so quickly she could hardly form a single coherent thought. You'll be OK, she finally managed to tell herself, gripping the edge of the seat. You'll be OK wherever you go.

"You'll be more than okay. You could be great. Go on and joinSLYTHERIN!"

Kat was led into the Great Hall with all of the other first years as they all lined up to wait. She stared around the hall in amazement, her mother had told her stories of course, but nothing could compare to experiencing the school for the first time.

She tried to listen as each name was called, after all these would be her classmates, and some of them her dorm mates. No matter how hard she tried though, she couldn't have said whose names were called.

She waited patiently as name after name was called, until she heard, "Porter, Katherine!" Her palms became clammy as she approached the small stool standing in the front of the hall. She gracefully perched herself on the stool and the Hat was placed on her head. With one last thought she hoped for the house to help her prove herself worthy to her family once and for all.

Audrey Luna Heard her name being called above the noise of the other student who had just finished cheering. She couldn't tell which house the previous student had been sorted into because she was so focused on her own sorting about to happen. Walking up to the stool she concentrated on the one house she knew she wanted to belong to. As she reached the headmistress she sat on the stool and waited for the hat to be placed on her perfectly plaited hair, she had spend hours that morning making sure everything was perfect. Seconds went by as she waited, then she felt the zeight of the hat slide onto her head and she knew she was close to her goal. Patiently waiting, she listened to anything that might give her a clue that the hat had in fact heard her internal voice. Then she heard the voice and sighed with relief as it yelled....

Neven Lurken walked into the Great Hall, a little bit nervous about being in a school where his mother attended, and had his older sister in. He prayed that he would never make that mistake. At least she married Luciano after that, but then things went sour, she had Neven and then the divorce. It was definitely not something that Neven liked to think of, but at least someone made her happy now. His new step-dad was pretty awesome, also loving potions and ghosts and stuff. But his life had been a little on the normal side, opposed to what all happened to his mom. He was also attending school with some of his cousins as well, so things were not nearly as bad as he could have thought. Neven waited with the other first years, wondering what house he would be in. His mom was a Slytherin. He didn't ask Christopher's house, but it might not even have any effect on him. It wasn't like he knew the guy. Then, he heard his name called. Neven dragged his feet until he sat down on the podium. He was definitely ready for this. He closed his eyes and hoped that he would end up in a semi-decent house. His family had apparently been nothing but Slytherins, but did he have that in him? He didn't think he did. Then again, who knew where he would end up but the hat itself.

Phelix entered the Great Hall as many others of his family had done. He didn't know a lot about the school, but he was excited. He'd heard s few stories by now and really wanted to see it all for himself. Plus the added stability he now got in his life was a major bonus.
