The Sorting Ceremony

The journey to Hogwarts was beginning with saying goodbye to your family and stepping on the train to Hogwarts New Zealand. Therese was the first child of her parents to attend Hogwarts so her mom and dad where saying like a million times that they would miss her and ofcourse Therese would do too. But she was ready to go on this journey, she waved at her uncle that was dropping of Gabriel her nephew that also would begin this year. Therese was glad that she had family on this school, but she wasn't afraid of making new friends for herself. She was most looking forward to make new friends, perhaps for life even! The Swedish girl was not afraid of her sorting, she was fine with everything. It would be nice to be placed with one of her family members, so that had to be Ravenclaw or Gryffindor. But Therese would not feel very bad if she wasn't, she knew that the sorting hat would make the right decision, it always did was what she heard from others and didn't think they would lie about that.

When the girl entered the Great Hall she got a smile on her face, it was beautiful! She waved at Beaubelle when she walked pass her and was wondering how Ravenclaw would be. It seemed perfect for Beaubelle and she hoped the girl would have a great time as she wished for herself too in the house where she belonged.

'' Rosenberg, Therese ''

Therese heard her name after she heard Gabriel's name and was excited to finally know where she would belong. I'm fine with everything, I know you will put me in the right house the girl thought.

Elly grabbed her coat from the hanger and ran downstairs. Jynx her kitten was meowing furiously in it's travelling carrier. It was his first time in this cage and he wasn't enjoying himself. ''Calm down, Jynx.. Soon it will be over'' Elly spoke softly to the little window of the cage. Jynx replied with a soft meow and somehow he did seem more calm then before. Her dad was sitting at his chair and it looked like he had cried. His eyes were red and he had a box of white tissues next to his chair. ''Dad I will be back in all the holidays, this isn't forever you know.'' Elly her dad nodded and walked with her to the car. It was a twenty minute drive to nearest station. Elly and her dad were almost silent in the car, but at the end her dad broke. They hugged and Elly promised to write every week. The station was crowded and Elly manoeuvred herself between people to make it to the station. Elly walked up to the station and found the right train. The old chapter was closed now a new one had showed its head.

The train was busy, but it was not full. Elly found a little spot between people she knew, and she waited to go to her new school. Unfortunately Elly got motion sick, but she was prepared and walk away with a small bag in her hands. As soon as she was relieved of her stomach contents they arrived at the castle. The whole group of firsties was called together and they were left in front of a giant door. The door was massive, the word giant didn't really describe the door. They were called in and as soon as she set a step in the hall people were everywhere. Elly knew she was on of the first to be called so she waited till her name was called. "Chatwin, Elizabeth'' That was it, the moment she had been waiting for since she got her letter. Elly took a large breath and walked up to the hat. The leather of the hat was old, but it wasn't tattered. The hat was fancy and unique, the face creeped her out. But the folds made it less scary. As soon as she felt the hat on her head, she exhaled sharply.

To Morrigan it felt like the entire summer has passed in a blur. From getting their Hogwarts letters, to buying their school supplies, and even the train ride here. While Her brothers had been content to goof around the entire time Morrigan had spent much of the trip staring out the window at the blurred country side as it passed. She had tried to get a bit of reading in, but she found that she wasn't able to focus, and ended up reading the same line about 5 times with it never sinking in. There were many things she was nervous about. For one being the only girl in the family she had never had to share a bedroom before, but now she would be sharing with all the other girls in her year. What if they didn't get along? Her bedroom was the one place she felt she could go to be at peace, but that wasn't the case anymore. Not to mention the very real possibility of not being in the same house as her brothers. She knew Gideon would be happy for the chance, but the idea of being alone for the first time ever scared Morrigan. With all of those thoughts scrambling through her head the young girl hadn't even realized that they were already at the school. She grabbed onto her brothers robes as they made their way with the crowd of other first years into the great hall. It was like something out of one of her story books. The ceiling was enchanted to look like a dazzling night sky, and hundreds of candles floating above their heads lighting everything up. The young girl was absolutely dazed by the impressive magic. She didn't even take the time to return Gideon's silly high five.

Soon enough everyone quieted down as the head mistress gave her speech, and brought out the sorting hat. It sang a song, but Morrigan hardly noticed as she was still staring up at the sky. Next they were calling names. With a name like Zelinsky the triplets were bound to be last. She watched as each student before them was called up one by one. Soon enough their was only a handful of students left including her, and her brothers. Elijah was called first, and then Gideon, and finally herself. Morrigan balled her hands into fists, and walked to the stool trying not to look at anyone. She sat down, held her breath, and waited.

Tomas walked to the front of the Great Hall with the other unsorted students, excited as ever. He could hardly believe that he was a wizard, and that there were so many people just like him. He had thought that after seeing enormous castle from the outside that nothing would surprise him nearly as much afterwards. Never had he been so wrong before. As he looked around the room, Tomas noticed that he drifted away from the other students and quickly joined them. The eleven year old had never seen anything as beautiful as the Great Hall before. Then the woman began to started to call out their names, and after waiting for quite some time, he heard his name.

"Wode, Tomas.''

He jerked visibly from his thoughts at hearing his name being called out and could feel his heart pound faster and faster. Tomas wasn't the nervous type normally, so it felt strange that he should be so now. As he walked forward and seated himself on the three-legged stool, he became even more nervous. He inhaled deeply and smiled as the talking hat was placed on his head. ''Right. Do what you gotta do.'' Tomas whispered to the hat.

"Hmmm... most difficult... most interestingly curious... GRYFFINDOR!"

OOCOut of Character:
Your pleas for Ravenclaw were not ignored. Please feel free to roleplay Tomas as having been a hat stall.

<SIZE size="50">Marcos Morales was fidgeting with his hands, he was nervous, the boy had heard so much about this school from his brother and sister, both of whom were Ravenclaws and though they both spoke highly of the place, Marcos still found himself nervous. Of course they said that there would be people whom he'd be able to speak to in his native language but when Marcos was nervous in the way he was currently couldn't help but think that he wouldn't find anyone who spoke like him and more to the point no one who'd be willing to put up with him because of his language difficulties. The boy looked sheepishly amongst the rest of the students, glancing between them and wondering where they might also end up, which ones he'd be with, trying to spot any that he had met before. Marcos had tried to meet people before the school term had begun, but he'd also spent a lot of time with Flavio and spent time with Pia, since he hadn't gotten to. The boy didn't feel at a disadvantage in the school, not too much, the language wasn't going to be good but he'd taken several muggle english tests that had shown his competency in the language but it was the daunting task of having nothing else to use. Because he could manage but there were times and occasions when people used a word he didn't know or spoke too quickly or where he had trouble finding the right word and he didn't want that to be happening too often when he was trying to make friends. Marcos looked between the students as he walked amongst them to the front of the hall that he had heard so much about. It was a beautiful place, that much was clear, his siblings hadn't been lying about that, but their first experiences of the school had been different, Flavio who had been sorted like Marcos was to be sorted and Pia who had been sorted independently because she had arrived later in the schooling. Marcos had listened and taken in every word that Flavio had told him about the process and he had thought it over in his head, physically pretending within their house to be called out to be sorted and walking a few steps to where he'd then sit, a silly process but one that had helped a little with Marcos nerves towards being sorted in front of so many.

There was one difference that Marcos found, that unlike his siblings he didn't know what he was interested in really or what he was good at, Pia and Flavio had always been intelligent, and both Ignacio and Valentina were driven, he wasn't really either of those things, he wasn't really sure what he was yet, he liked quidditch and he liked potions, he liked working with things with his hands, he didn't particularly enjoy reading all of the time. He was nervous now, but when he spoke in Spanish amongst his friends back home he had no nerves, well, none like the ones currently. The Chilean therefore didn't know where he could end up, he didn't particularly want to end up in Ravenclaw like Flavio and Pia had both, though he could see the advantages of such a house to him since he'd always had his brother close to hand if he had an issue but Marcos didn't think he was intelligent enough for it, and he didn't want to have to be continuously learning a language for it to be only second to doing well in classes. He didn't know about the other houses, he'd spoken to his siblings about it, and they hadn't exactly been helpful in knowing where he would end up, but honestly Marcos wouldn't mind, he'd be happy wherever it was. He was nervous about it and hoped he ended up somewhere that would cut him some slack when he struggled, he didn't want to end up in a house that he would struggle with, where he wouldn't fit in, but he was sure that the hat that was currently singing its heart out would make the right choice. He trusted magic, and he trusted a magical hat to sort him, he trusted it would know what his siblings had not. Marcos knew the hat would make the right choice, it was just a matter of when that choice would be made. The song came to an end and Marcos' applauded for it, since he was just thankful that the sorting part, the bit he was most nervous about was finally underway. Name after name was called up, and he increasingly was fidgeting with his hands, they breezed through, none of the sortings taking too long which assured the boy the hat would have no problem with him, and then finally his name was called.

Morales, Marcos

The boy stepped forward and took a seat upon the chair. He was nervous, but staring out at all the people had calmed him slightly, he didn't know who he was yet, he didn't know if he was to be among the kind, the brave, the cunning or the smart, he didn't know entirely what he would enjoy about magic or school, but he trusted that the hat. He trusted that where Marcos couldn't yet see, the hat would.

April felt herself buzz with excitement as she followed her brand-new classmates into the Great Hall. The hall was so beautiful! She could hardly believe it, she was really here! Really at Hogwarts! She was glad to be tall for her age, she could look over the heads of some of the other kids and see everything around them. Everything looked so magical! She nearly tripped over her own feet in her excitement, which made her feel silly because she was usually not clumsy. But this day was an exception to a lot of things. She tried to take it all in, to remember it all for later. She wanted to write everything down in her letter to her mother. She was a muggle and would never see any of this, which was sad. Maybe if April described it well enough, it would make up for it a little bit.

When she could see the other students in the hall, she immediately looked for October. When she saw her, she waved and jumped up and down eagerly. It was so fun to be in front of everyone, it almost felt like she was on a stage in front of a crowd. She felt the same excitement she felt then, like a spotlight was shining just on her.

Well, not just her. There were other kids around her at all sides. It made her frown a bit, no one would even notice her at all. Maybe she could do something fun to make an impression on them, something exciting. Her name was near the end of the list so she waited patiently while thinking of what to do. When her name was finally called, she knew. She took a few steps towards the stool and then without warning moved into a perfect cartwheel, ending right in front of it. She laughed, enjoying the murmurs and laughs from the crowd as she gave a small bow and then sat down to hear what house she was in. At least people had noticed her now!

Troye could have leaped from one end of the great hall to the other if she could have used all her energy in one bound. The peach haired girl hadn't stopped talking since boarding the train. In her arms was her newest family addition, a black Maine coon named waldo sat. It was rested in the girls hands and she had refused to give it up - it had to be with her and not in a cage. Cages were inhumane. She'd told someone they wouldn't like being in a cage so her cat wouldn't be either. Even as she was called up to the sorting hat, the cat still rested there. Some students might have been eyeing her but Troye couldn't care less. As she sat down she hummed to herself, stroking the cat in her arms. The only thing she could think was that none of the colors would go with her hair and she'd have to dye it one more time.

"I'm afraid you're not smart or cunning enough for Slytherin... but you'll be a lovely fit in HUFFLEPUFF!"

<SIZE size="50">Bao was surprised with how nice she was finding this school, her mind had made it up to be some dark and dreary castle that belonged in disease ridden middle ages, but it was nice, it had a grace to it that Bao was drawn to. Sure it was not the school she had been supposed to attend, but she was glad to be attending any school, but this castle was no palace and it sure as hell wasn't what she had been brought up to believe her school would be like. Her family had been well off, but they weren't so much any more, and Bao was struggling a little with this readjustment, she and her sister still had some but it was no where near what they had once had. The girl was feeling a little weird about this entire day, for one it had supposed to be her parents who would see her off, but given what had happened to them, it was obvious such a thing wouldn't happen, but having Mei see her off had given Bao her first pang of homesickness since leaving China. Now here she was at the school, and Bao wasn't too nervous she had done her reading about the place, she knew what the houses were, though she struggled over where she could end up. But the more important thing for her was just getting through this sorting process without falling flat on her face at any point, such a thing would be embarrassing and less than becoming. The Chinese girl was giving a cold air of confidence though internally she was far more freaked out than she thought she would be. It was such a huge change and Bao was so unsure of herself amongst these people whom she didn't know. Bao almost wished some of the girls from her old school were there with her so she would have someone to share this with.

The girl walked into the hall with the rest of the class, her mind was cast away from the sorting process and more to those around her, she didn't know any of them, having been a new addition to the country and somewhat unsure of where things were Bao had not had the occasion to meet many people with whom she would be sharing classes. The people seemed fine, of course that was just how they looked and Bao couldn't help but wonder who she might make friends with. There was little to doubt that she needed to make friends, having friends and connections was crucial to her, she needed to be sure that she had people she could rely upon to further herself in the school, and to whom she would also be able to help. Bao wasn't too interested in making friend because she needed the company, of course that was good, but she knew she needed to know people. Bao was always polite to people, she was always kind but when she wanted something there was little stopping her. The girl's attention was drawn to the hat at the front which had begun the traditional song, and all of her attention was upon it. She knew that the hat would look into her mind and she didn't want to displease the hat or disrespect the hat by not listening to what it had to say. The song was a good indicator she thought to what the houses were, perhaps a little simplified. Bao was then glad that the actual sorting began, not because she hadn't enjoyed the song, but the growing waiting time in front of these students was a little gruelling. However given her surname begins with a L, Bao knew she had to wait a little while before it got to her, instead of just waiting lazily, Bao focused on the students who were sorted before her, watching as they made their way to the tables and houses they belonged to. In her mind she was trying to gauge if how students looked at all defined where they ended up, but it didn't. It was all entirely within the person's mind that it was decided. Finally it came to her, and her name was called out.

Lauv, Bao

Bao stepped forward, easing her way through the crowd, and taking a bit of her time to ensure that people were watching her, this was her first moment within the school she had to sure that it counted, that people remembered her. She took a seat upon the stool, rigid posture and a faint air of a polite smile on her face. She was nervous, but didn't want to show it. Bao thanked the hat as it was placed on her head for the time it was giving to sort her and then she just waited.

"I've sorted plenty like you before, your perfect display may fool them but I see further and deeper than you would have me see, and you're unquestionably a SLYTHERIN!"

Veronica was nervously fidgeting with their ends of her hair as she watched what seemed like an endless procession of students walk up to the sorting hat placed before them. Having a last name at the end of the alphabet always involved a bit of a wait, but the possibility of her name being called was too close now for her to allow herself to be distracted by her surroundings. The enchanted ceiling in particular was very distracting, and she had to fight not to glue her eyes to it as she continued to check and be delighted by the accuracy of the current constellations and star positions. If the ceiling was any indication of the quality of professors and information to be gained from this school, Veronica could hardly wait to get to her lessons. Perhaps she'd learn something to help her turn the far gears in the new machine she'd been working on, her fingers weren't quite long enough to reach all the gears at once, but maybe if she moved them to the left a bit, just a bit, the calibration would still be fine and she'd be able to reach and then she wouldn't have that problem with the little pause in the cogs, maybe, she couldn't quite figure out what was causing that -

"Willows, Veronica."

Her head snapped up, almost losing her train of thought before she desperately pulled it back to her. Oh, she just wanted to be back with her trunk already, she thought as she hurried up to the stool. Almost stepping on the hem of her robes as she turned in a fluster to sit on the stool, she was determined to remember the thought she'd just had about the pause - however she made the mistake of looking up and subsequently every thought drained from her head. People were looking at her. Everyone seemed to be looking at her. She could feel her cheeks heating up as she ducked her head, wishing to be anywhere but here. She wrung her hands in her lap, hoping the hat would shout something sooner rather than later and let her get away.

"Don't worry - you won't take me near as long as your friend over there did. You're a RAVENCLAW through and through!"

Ursula felt like a fish out of water in this area. She had never been somewhere so extravagant - the military housing in West Virginia looked nothing like that. Two stories sure, but not this many floors. She'd never seen paintings move, she'd never heard or seen so much talk of magic. Her mother was of course magic, as was her younger brother they assumed - but this was new and exciting and different. The dark haired girl moved with the crowd, careful not to shove or be shoved. She had a name that was close to the beginning of the alphabet and hoped that she'd be called quickly - and she was right. When her name was called she approached with a quiet reserve about her. Her fun-loving demeanor was buried beneath nerves as she took a seat on the stool. She felt like she was in boot camp again being in front of everyone watching an announcement be made. She had made it to blue in camp - the next step up from newbies. Would blue mean the same here as a Ravenclaw. The hat was placed on her head and she thought. "Anything but a red - where I'm from it's a color I'm not fond of. Where could i go to put me ahead? To make me a good candidate for politics? Somewhere clever, or brave. Somewhere like home."

"Blue is not the 'next step up from newbies' here. It's the home of the wise and witty - those who can see something perhaps that nobody else can see. It will form you well for politics or anything else you choose to pursue, and give you plenty of opportunities to learn all about this great new world you're entering into. Go on, then! RAVENCLAW!"

Jess had been longing for the day she walked through the doors of Hogwarts with her best friend by her side. She was excited to see more of her brother James, and maybe improve her relationship with Ezra. The summer holidays before starting at Hogwarts had been so fun, she had spent a lot of time with Leila and Geo and had met many more wonderful people all of which she was looking forward to spending more time with as the year went on. Jess hadn't seen Leila since the night they got their letters, she got an owl from Leila and had been at her house within minutes. She, Leila and Geo spent the night planning for their time at Hogwarts. Now Jess could put their plans to action.

James hadn't done the Great hall justice, which wasn't surprising, he wasn't exactly a wordsmith. It was grand and beautiful, and she couldn't believe she would be spending every day there. Jess stood nervously in the crowd clutching Leila's hand as she waited to be sorted. Jess was one of the first to be called up to the stool to be sorted. It was a nerve wracking experience, she hoped that she would be following more in James's footsteps than Ezra's. Most of all, Jess just wanted to be with Leila, her best friend. "Do your worst hat," She muttered when it was placed on her head.

"As a rule, I actually try to do my best. For you, that means going to GRYFFINDOR!"

"This is great!" Albine grinned, showing off her pearly-whites to the mildly frightened looking student standing beside her, "Aren't you excited? I'm excited. I finally get to know what stupid house I'll be stuffed in, and meet all the other twerps like me!"
The other student was not excited. The small boy, who appeared so pale he could pass for an albino, began to shake, tears dribbling down his face. Albine looked down from the ceiling, peering at the boy. "Hey, what's wrong with you? Aren't you happy?"
The boy shook his head, trembling. "I want my dad." He replied weakly. Albine let out a hushed sigh, turned to the child, and grabbed his hand. The boy looked even more terrified, his reddened eyes sweeping up to meet Albine's.
"There. Now you're fine. Don't worry about it. You'll be surrounded by new friends any minute." She gave him what was intended to be a gentle nudge with her shoulder, but turned into more of an accidental tackle. The boy stumbled, but stood strong. Now the two of them stared towards the front of the Great Hall, eagerly awaiting their names to be called.
After what seemed like a century, it finally happened; "Frost, Albine."
Albine slid her hand from the boy, giving him a wink and a smile. "See you on the other side!" She whispered with excitement, scuttling off through the hoard of students, pushing her way to the front, and popping out the other side to take her place on the stool.
"Hit me with your best shot!" She beamed, cocky as ever, and equally keen on all four houses.
And then, the hat resting on her head, she felt a sudden twitchy, a voice that appeared to be inside her head. This was it.
Showtime!

"Your desire for friends points one way... but I think the lengths you will got to for the attention and admiration of such friends makes you an obvious candidate for SLYTHERIN!"

Zhivka was wiggling in her spot - what her parents called wagging her tail. She couldn't sit still, god bless her - she was just so excited to be sorted. Her name took forever to come about, but of course it seemed that way. When she was watching time it never seemed to pass correctly. It was so slow. Besides that she was in the middle of the alphabet, just like being in the middle of her siblings. It was a drag. Zhivka waited until the first syllable of her name was out before she dashed up the steps to the hat. Her brown curls bounced wildly around her shoulders and she smiled as wide as the great hall doors had opened. "Mr! I am glad to meet you!" She spoke to the had before turning to sit so it could be placed on her head. The brunette wiggled with excitement even on the chair, trying not to think too much in case in needed to dig around in her head. It was probably dusty in there, nothing but her brain was up there - were he thoughts filed neatly? Or a mess for the hat?

"Well, I'm very pleased to meet you, too. It's too bad our time together will be so short - you're quite clearly a HUFFLEPUFF!"

Sophie tried her hardest not to look impressed as the group of new first years entered the Great Hall, but she was impressed nonetheless. Her sister Amber had written home about this place, but Sophie hadn't imagined it like this. It was incredible. She crossed her arms and stared straight ahead, not wanting to be one of the gawping firsties around her. Didn't they see others were watching? The older students must think they were so cute and young and so silly for being so impressed by all this. Well, not Sophie. She was going to get this sorting thing over with and that was that.

But why did it have to be in front of the entire school, though? Sophie bit her lip as she glanced at all the people watching them, before returning to her familiar scowl. If she didn't look intimidated, no one would know that how much she hated being up here. She silently cursed her last name, whichever one of her ancestors had decided on starting it with a 'W' was in her bad books now. The other students kept being called and after waiting for what seemed like hours, there were only a handful of them. Sophie couldn't help a slight glance at the Hufflepuff table, where she almost immediately spotted her sister sitting next to the tall redheaded girl. She looked away quickly before Amber could do something insincere and sweet like wave at her. Like she cared. Her mouth dropped open as another girl was called up and she cartwheeled over to the stool. Sophie could see she wasn't embarrassed but she was doubly embarrassed for her. Merlin, was this a school or a circus act? What had she been thinking? Then, before she could really compose herself again. She heard her name be called. She huffed, mostly to give herself a moment, and walked over to the stool with her arms still crossed. She hadn't really put much thought into what house she wanted to be in, as long as it wasn't Hufflepuff. She had spent enough time in perfect Amber's shadow, thank you very much.

"You could do well in Hufflepuff, but I see how much you don't want that... RAVENCLAW!"

Jessica stood very still amidst the group of first years, almost convinced that if no one noticed she was here then it was like she wasn't. And wasn't that a stupid idea. She clenched her teeth as she stared down at the ground, trying to ignore the horrible shapeless clothes she was wearing. Robes. Ugh. They were ugly, and they just made her hate wizards even more. In a way she was thankful for them, though, because focusing on how much she hated them stopped her thinking about the ceiling that was completely open to the sky, and the floating candles everywhere. Didn't they drip wax on everything? She shuddered, imagining melted and then dried, candlewax in her hair. Wizards didn't seem to care about anything, they just did whatever they wanted and it terrified her. How was she supposed to cope with that?

"Matthews, Jessica!"

She froze, before slowly lifting her eyes to look at the old hat the headmistress was brandishing. She didn't want that thing anywhere near her. It talked, and no one seemed to bat an eyelid. For about the thousandth time she wished her sister were here, so she could complain to her about everything. And the worst part about that wish she thought, beginning to pick her way through the students in front of her, was that if her sister were here she may have even been excited about the whole thing. Sitting on the stool carefully, Jessica felt her shoulders tense as the hat was placed on her head. She didn't see why this process was necessary, and she wanted it off.

"I trust you'll come to appreciate this magical world, and the education we can provide you, in time. Nevertheless, I think you'll find plenty of belonging in SLYTHERIN!"

Vilhelmine rubbed her elbow, bowing a little in a futile attempt to appear shorter. She wanted to blend in, not stand out, but at five foot three such was scarcely possible. What would Madison be doing, now? Would she write, as she'd promised? Vilhelmine had been at Hogwarts only a matter of minutes, and already she was wondering when she'd be able to go home.

Blushing for no particular reason, Vilhelmine made her way up to the front of the great hall, feeling not just like a fish out of water, but a fish three thousand feet up a mountain. The sorting process seemed fairly simple, though nonetheless horribly daunting. What if she were to end up in Slytherin? She didn't imagine she was going to make many friends to begin with, but she would undoubtedly flail with the serpents. The closer her name grew to being called, the more her palms began to sweat. Did she have to do this? Could she just go home, and be educated by private tutors, instead?

"Dahl, Vilhelmine!"

Too late. With a nervous glance to either side the gangling girl took herself up to the stool and sat down, involuntarily holding her breath. Her heart was hammering so violently she wouldn't have been surprised if the hat could hear through her head. Seven years was an awfully long time. What if she didn't make any friends?

"Oh, you'll make plenty of friends. Especially in HUFFLEPUFF!"

Atlas could have been shaking in his boots if he were wearing any, but shaking in his school dress shoes was just as well. Nashira told him he'd be tested and surrounded by both mud bloods and purebloods and he needed to find his own kind - but how was he supposed to do that - and why did it matter? Around the age of seven he began really questioning things, maybe it was because Nashira had done the same - both picked on and helped their sister whom was a mud blood. He felt confused by his status. Would he have an advantage in learning? He'd learned a bit from his parents, his mother kept a magical garden and helped him identify plants. He wondered if that would help. Sighing the Andoujenero waited a short amount of time to hear his name called and with the best smile - a pained grimace - he could manage he walked to the stool and sat down. "Can i ask you any question? How old are you? You smell like must.... in a uhm good way..."

"Oh? They have good must where you come from, do they? How about you go scamper off to HUFFLEPUFF!?"

Heather stood with the new students of Hogwarts just outside the big doors leading to what her sister had said, was the Great Hall. She felt alone once she and Firmiana parted ways. Heather and the others went at the boat docks while Firmiana rode at the carriage with her friend. She didn't know any of the kids there but it seems a few had met and are now best of friends. Once the doors opened, they piled into two lines and started to advance inside the marvelous grand dining hall. Heather was busy looking for her sister and finally, a crazy red head was waving at her. Her usual flower crown on her head. Heather giggled slightly and waved and before she collided with the person in front of her, she looked in front of her right before the line stopped.

There was silent, introductions and a singing hat. That impresses the young girl and made her smile, all her nervousness and fear were gone and was half way to the list that she was called out. The thumping off her heart started to race again as she sat on the stool and faced the whole school. It was then the hat was placed upon on her head, it was giving her anxiety. What if I disappoint my mum? my sister? I hope she's wishing that we're on the same house, whichever house she's in right now. I have no clue, I'm so nervous. Heather looked for Firmiana for support and her sister gave her a smile, a reassuring smile. Heather did the same.

"Let's see how you do in GRYFFINDOR!"

Viktor was not sure if he wanted to be here or not. He could be in Durmstrang. After much thought, he decided to give it a try. If he did not like the school after a year, he could always leave. Viktor entered, looking around for other family members. There were several around, in different houses no less. Viktor looked down at the ground with his silver eyes, and closed them as he heard the students ascend to the stool, one by one, and let an old hat determine their ultimate fate. Viktor placed his hands into his pockets, and waited. He could listen to the footsteps. He could hear some of them shuffle, some of them fidgeting. People were nervous or excited about being sorted. It was no big deal for him. The apathetic boy eventually heard his name. The dark brown haired boy with very pale skin walked up to the front. He ignored the stares, if they existed. His stare was far worse, because he could wait before blinking. Sure, it made his eyes hurt and dry, but the reaction was well worth it. He sat down on the stool, and felt the hat perch onto his head. He simply wished the hat good luck, because the houses seemed a little too narrow to place him in one specific place. Though, perhaps Viktor was not thinking about the bigger picture for each house, which he would love to be educated on.

"Oh yes - hundreds of years of sorting students into one of four houses and you're so complex and unique! How could I ever place you in a house?! Oh, I know... though you're now making me doubt if you can handle it... RAVENCLAW!"

Gilly's new uniform was itchy and too high at the collar. She disliked wearing a tie, although she was interested to see what colour it would change to when the Sorting Hat made its decision. The concept of a talking hat was also a novelty, and the eleven year old craned her neck to watch the funny thing shout out the names of the houses. She couldn't decide if the idea was completely ridiculous, or if the hat was a very powerful magical artefact that she should be wary of. She chose the second option, just to be safe, and that made it suspicious, so Gilly herself ended up getting a few odd looks because of her fierce glaring at the charmed object. I'm watching you, hat.

She didn't have to wait very long to confront the beast, being at the top end of the alphabet, and she strode forward with her skinny chest puffed out, her chin high and her guard up. Sitting on the stool was more awkward than she'd expected it to be, and it deflated some of her bravado when her feet didn't even touch the floor. Gilly crossed her ankles together and couldn't figure out where to put her hands, so she ended up clutching the seat of the stool and sinking a bit as the heavy hat was placed on her head. It was hard to remain stoic in the face of a very old and powerful hat that was going to decide her fate for the next seven years. She wisely kept her mouth shut and let it do its job, feeling more and more uncomfortable every second as hundreds of eyes watched her with mixed degrees of interest to see the outcome.

Maise looked around as she walked into the beautifully assorted room. She had seen nothing like this in Mauritius, her parents often liked to keep a very simple home. All of this was so much grander than Maise imagined. She was excited at the prospects ahead of her and she wondered if all of this would happen the way she hoped. She knew she needed to see this through now. It was true that she just wanted to get away from her parents, but all of this was so interesting, how could she not want to stay now. Surely she would learn more about muggles here than she would have out of the books she read. Maybe she would have the chance to find someone who could teach her. She knew that this was where she wanted to be and as she Headmistress called her up to be sorted, Maise grinned at the woman. She looked like someone who carried a lot of authority. She didn't know much about how the school system worked, but she was determined to learn more each day she was there.

"There's plenty of learning to be done about all sorts in this world! I think the best place you'll have to explore so much of it is GRYFFINDOR!"

Weiss didn't have a clue what was inside the doors but once the view was placed upon in front of her, she was astounded. The ceiling was charmed to look like the outside night sky. Although, her parents told her that Beauxbatons, the school they graduated from, was more elegant. Either way, it was a school that will teach her to further her learning. In this situation, with all the people around her, she would take out her smartphone and start playing games but the torture of not having it was ridiculous. The one she can count on to avoid conversation was no use in the world that doesn't have electricity. Weiss sigh as they all head inside in pairs, she avoided whoever was walking beside her, looking somewhere else.

The line stopped and just so, there was introductions and a hat sang out of tune. That put a faint smile on her lips. At least some fun around here She thought to herself. The list of new students was taking forever until it came to her last name. The Houses, as she read how it was used here, was purely on the person's personality and critical thinking but she's hoping blood statues shaming was done ages ago. Weiss sat on the stool, calmly not jumping off when the hat was placed on top of her head. Alrighty, let the choosing begin. I have no preference to what house I'm put in as long as everyone are nice. Weiss could have thought of something else but the word NICE came into mind. The young girl wasn't here to have enemies but gain friends.

"There isn't anyplace where everyone is nice - but if we wanted to get close to that, perhaps the best place is HUFFLEPUFF!"

Sophia Jackson was having the time of her life today. Everything that she had seen as she approached Hogwarts Castle had been insanely ancient, but in a good way. She could already see that there was so much to learn in both classes and about the castle itself. She smiled brightly as they made the short trip between the Entrance Hall and the Great Hall, and breathed a large gasp as she stepped in to the Great Hall.

She was taken aback as everything around her was suddenly something out of a book. The ceiling was bewitched, the candles were floating, and the room was alight with the chatter of the students around her. It was such an amazing atmosphere, and she could only imagine the school being more mystical and outrageous. She could really see herself enjoying herself at this school.

As they came to a halt, Sophia spotted an ancient hat and she gasped once more when it suddenly sprang to life and began to sing a song. She couldn't have imagined this, and no book in the muggle world could have prepared her for such a thing. She watched as students were called up, and somehow the hat placed them all in their houses, all the while wondering how the hat knew.

Once it was her turn, she took a deep breath and made her way up to the hat. She hadn't read up on Hogwarts beforehand so that she could experience everything for the rest time on her own, but tonight she would be cuddled up in her dormitory reading about everything she could. She took another deep breath as the hat was placed on her head, and awaited it's decision.

Perry was in the train to Hogwarts. It was an odd feeling, he already got accepted in a college that gave extra sports lessons. He hadn't expected he could do magic or that someone thought he could. He had clenched the letter in his hands and searched for bugs or fake ink. I mean someone could have pranked him with a fake acceptance letter to so imaginary school. It was real even up to the waxed seal. The train seemed to take forever, but he was over excited. He couldn't wait to see the castle he had dreamed about. He had tried to google the location and castle, but it always came up blank. Perry found it hard to change clothes, he couldn't wear his Nikes nor sports pants anymore. Now the Nikes had been replaced with a pair of black leathery shoes. The train came to a halt and Perry walked out. A giant smile on his face, his cheeks red of excitement. The castle was nothing he had dreamed of, it was so much more. He had expected something smaller, but that couldn't fit all these students obviously. Not that Perry had known how many students there were going to be. He knew nothing, everything here was new. Maybe the grass was magical here, or that tree. While he checked out an old looking tree. They arrived in the hall soon after and then the sorting began. The sorting was going by surname and that meant that Perry was one of the last students. When it was his time he walked up to the hat. Unsure about how everything worked.

Petra approached the hat with trepidation. As a child she had heard many stories of magic and fairies and wizards, but she had never thought in a thousand years that any of them could be true. As she sat on the stool, Petra wondered if she had ever witnessed magic but had been to ignorant to see it. She didn't think someone like that could ever posses magical abilities, that there had surely been some kind of mistake. As the hat was place atop her head, her only thought was 'please let this be real'.

"Oh, it's very real... now, head over to HUFFLEPUFF!"
