The Sorting Ceremony

And finally his name was shouted.
He hesitated a bit anxious, many students starting looking around wondering who was it that was taking so long.
He gathered all his bravery and walked forward. He faced the sorting hat placed on the stool which raised an eyebrow.
Christopher gulped and sat down. When the hat touched his hair he almost jumped off but he held so tightly the stool that he remained there, stiff like a piece of wood.
Seconds seemed like ages. But whatever the result was in the end he knew what he was really capable of.

"You're a little bit too nervous for a Gryffindor, don't you think? Hmm. Maybe that will change with time. Let's hope so. GRYFFINDOR!"

Ryuuji was really exicted for the sorting ceremony. He was areally looking forward to meeting other kids like him. While he was still at his muggle school, he was not allowed to talk about anything concerning magic and it was pretty much to keep it a secret. Luckily, the time that he was waiting for has finally arrived. He was now walking along the halls of the one of the most prestigious schools of magic, that is, Hogwarts.

Looking around him in awe, Ryuuji cannot help but to smile. He was really amazed by everything around him, things that he had not seen for his entire lifetime living as a muggle born. He cannot wait to tell his sister about it, his sister is non-magical after all but he knows that she'll be really happy once she learned what's it like inside a wizardry school. Being rather excited, Ryuuji didn't noticed his name being called. It was at the 3rd time that he had finally heard it.

"Tsukino, Ryuuji"

Feeling rather embarrassed because of not listening to the announcement, Ryuuji felt his face reddening. With a quick motion, he started to approach the front. He muttered a quick apology to the announcer and quickly sat on the three-legged stool. He took a last scan of his surrounding as the hat dropped to his head. "Gomen Hat-san, I wasn't listening...watashi wa baka yarou" He muttered to the sorting hat, silently cursing his self for not being observant. "Demo ne, please put me on the house where I'm most suited too, that's your job isn't it? I'll thank you in advance then.. Arigato." He continued on, willing himself to stop talking and to just wait for the result of his sorting

"Yes, that is my job... and for you it might be a little tricky. You could belong to any of three houses. A very difficult call. How about... RAVENCLAW!"

Finnian was really nervous. He doesn't have any clue as to what he will do for him to get sorted. Nevertheless, the nervousness that he was feeling had suddenly disappeared when he stepped foot inside the huge hall of Hogwarts. He was too fascinated by what he was seeing to even bother thinking about what he was going to do. Completely oblivious to his surroundings, Finnian didn't notice his name being called. "Rosenkranz, Finnian" The announcer's voice rang through the air. He was brought out of his reverie when the announcer had announced his name once again.

Feeling really embarrassed for not listening at all, Finnian quickly made his way towards the front, head bowed down and trying to avert his gaze away from the crowd. He silently sat on the stool and waited for him to be sorted. He was a bot surprised when the hat had been placed on his head. He was about to tak eit off when he heard a voice within it. Finnian decided not to talk at all, he was too weirded out to even say anything at all.

"HUFFLEPUFF!"

Fayt was bored. The glimmering lights and the magic around him do nothing to ease his already idle mind. He was just too apathetic with everything that was happening around him. At his side, his sister was busy talking with another student, too excited about the house where she'll be put in. Felling a bit annoyed for being ignored, Fayt decided to just close his eyes and to relax. However, just closing his eyes was not enough to tune out the excited chatter of all the students around him. He doesn't even have his Ipod with him so he got no choice but to bear with his surroundings. "Jeez, when will this sorting end? annoying..." He said, tapping his foot impatiently as he waited for his name to be called.

"Aurelious, Fayt"

When he heard his name, Fayt walked unenthusiastically towards the sorting hat, tapping his sister in the shoulder to inform her that he would be going ahead. When he was already sitting on the stool, Fayt gave the crowd a rather bored look, waiting as the hat was placed on his head. "I don't really care where you put me in... just get this over with, and another thing, the only place where I want to be is the house where my sister is.." He muttered nonchalantly to the hat, his arms folded across his chest as he prepared for the hat to shout out the result of his sorting.

"I guess it's too bad that you don't belong where your sister is then, hmmm? You belong in SLYTHERIN!"

as i started walking to the hat, i saw it sitting on the stool like an owl on a branch. as i got closer my heart started beating faster, and my stomach started turning. i sat down on the stool and the hat was placed on my head, and i knew their was no turning back. i couldnt be happier

"HUFFLEPUFF!"

Star stood fidgeting in the line waiting her turn. She wanted Gryffindor to prove to the world that blood status didn't matter. "Moon Star" was called out. Thats me she thought while her stomach was doing nervous flip flops. She walked up and sat on the stool and and someone placed an ancient one of a kind wizarding hat on her head and awaited her answer..........

"Your desire to learn tells me you'll find success in RAVENCLAW!"

Ryan started pulling his new school uniform while waiting in the line to be sorted.Ever since recieving the letter he had been imagining this moment. He looked in wonder at the great hall it was amazing and Ryan couldn't wait to start the lessons.

He smiled when he saw his sister go up and head towards her new house.. "Moon Ryan" was called and Ryan walked slowly up towards the stool. He was sweating when he sat down.He tried to control his breathing when the hat was placed on his head......

"You're a difficult one... Perhaps you'll do best in SLYTHERIN!"

Rapunzel stood somewhere within the crowd of new first years, slightly nervous at the number of people she would be sitting in front of, all alone with a strange talking hat sitting upon her head. She took a few deep breaths as she observed the process of the Sorting Ceremony. Her thoughts drifted to the day she had to depart from her family. Her mother, step-dad, and siblings each had a small wonderful "something" to say or give to her, but Val's was by far the best. Simple but beautiful. Val's fragile arms wrapped around Rapunzel and she clung to her for a good five minutes, at the least. Tears gushed from both their eyes as Rapunzel was forced to leave behind her bestfriend and darling sister.
"Frost, Rapunzel" echoed throughout the Great Hall and Rapunzel jerked back to reality. She stood frozen in her spot, having forgotten what she was supposed to do. All at once, fear and excitement washed over her once she recalled the steps. She began walking up to the stool. Her face was stiff and tear-stained. She sat down on the wooden seat and the hat was set atop her head. What an invasion of privacy... Rapunzel thought as she waited for the hat to shout aloud her new home for the next seven years.

"RAVENCLAW!"

David started walking towards the strange looking, worn hat. The booming sound of his name being called was still ringing in his ears. With each step toward the hat his heart leaped, his body shook and the butterflies in his stomach went crazy. He knew that what was going to happen would have a massive effect on the next few years of his life and possibly beyond. He reached the stool and sat down, the teacher then slowly raised the hat above his head. At this moment David felt a chill run up his spine, the butterflies stopped, his heart slowed until he could barely feel it beating beneath his chest. He felt the hat get placed on his head, and the only thought that ran through his mind was... "This is it"

"Your sense of loyalty undoubtedly puts you in HUFFLEPUFF!"

Tracey her heard name being called from the person at the front and smiled. Tracey Cameron She had gotten the name change just before she came to school. She was a Cameron anyway and Teddy was her legal guardian, there was no point in her staying with the name of her horrible step father after all, he wasn't even her step father any more.

Tracey skipped up to the seat and crossed her legs gracefully as the hat was placed on her plaited hair. She was hoping for Hufflepuff with all of her heart. Nothing more would do. She didn't care if the Ravenclaws were smart or the Gryffindors were brave. Her family was full of hufflepuffs and she didn't want to be the one to break the chain. Hello Mr hat, or Mrs, or Miss. Please can I be a Hufflepuff? Please? She had seen that the others were thinking hard when the hat was on her head and it had to find out what she was like somehow. The most obvious solution was that it could see into her mind.

"Sure. Another one for HUFFLEPUFF!"

Peter walked into the great hall with all the other first year students and looked around at the gorgeous decorations displayed so perfectly across the whole room. Peter shot a look at his cousin and they exchanged a thumbs up. Peter took a deep breath as the students lined up for sorting. Names were called and called and then they reached the G last names. Peter closed his eyes and took in a huge re-assuring breath. "Harris, Peter." Peter's heart skipped a beat. Hearing his name actually called for sorting was a lot more emotion-erking then he had prepared for. He sat down on the stool in the middle of the great hall and as the hat was put over his entire face, he whispered, "Please Mr. Hat... Someone right for me..."

"RAVENCLAW!"

Marcus heard his name called out and looked over to Tracey before walking up to the stool with the hat. He liked Tracey, she was weird and bubbly, but she wanted to be a stupid hufflepuff. He didn't know what they would do about their friendship. He'd have to teach her to be sneaky or pretend to be nasty or something. The other Slytherins wouldn't like him hanging out with a Hufflepuff otherwise.

Of course, Marcus was going to be a Slytherin, his entire family were and, well, he didn't fit in anywhere else. He wasn't smart, wasn't that loyal and he really wasn't brave. Marcus kept his eyes on his friend when the hat sat on his head. If she didn't change, or pretend to, and he couldn't think of another reason, he might have to ditch her. But then he'd have to deal with Teddy. Teddy was a scary person if ever he saw one. Marcus shook his head and decided to think it over later, when he was in the Slytherin dorms.

"A healthy confidence and sense of self, I see. As you wish. SLYTHERIN!"

Alexander McPhee walked in with the crowd of fellow first years, a bit nervous. He was worried about about what his parents might think if he was sorted into a house they were not in. His father was in Gryffindor, and his mother, Ravenclaw. Alex looked around at the vast hall. It was like nothing he'd ever seen before. But, of course, Arrowtown was never that big on Magically Enchanted Halls.

Finally, the sorting hat called his name. He walked up to it, very aware of all the faces looking up at him. He put it on his head, and waited.

"You'll follow in your father's footsteps. GRYFFINDOR!"

This was the day LeAnn had been waiting for. She was happy that she had finally persuaded her mother to let her go to Hogwarts New Zealand and not Beauxbatons like she had wanted her too originally. LeAnn didn't see the point in attending the same school as her mother just so she could follow on her legacy - LeAnn was her own person and as such wanted to make her own legacy and not have to be compared to her mother all the time. There was some situations where LeAnn wouldn't mind being compared to her mother, her beauty was the main thing. LeAnn's mother was a well known fashion model and known even more for her beauty and from a young age LeAnn had wanted to be just a pretty as her mother and she was pretty sure that she had succeed in that up to this point and didn't plan on it changing. LeAnn walked through the large doors to the Great Hall, her two best friends at her side. She was glad that she had gotten the chance to go to Hogwarts New Zealand so she could have the chance to make her own name and not be compared to her mother but even more so because it meant that she could attend the same school as her two best friends, Aphrodite and Krystin. For as long as they had known each other they never got to meet up as much as they would have liked, what with living in different places, so Hogwarts was a chance for them to see each other everyday like they liked.

LeAnn was the first out of the three to get sorted so when she heard her name called out she walked up to the podium. She was still unaware about the housing system and how it worked so she wasn't too sure what house she would have preferred but then again she also knew that it wasn't up to her. No, there was this silly hat that the Headmaster put on their head. This immediately put LeAnn off because she hated anything dirty being near her, with the only exception being Quidditch. Not only was it dirty but every other student had it placed on their head that went before her. I hope none of those people have head lice. she thought to herself as she awaited the hat's decision. She didn't want anything to happen her golden locks, that she was rather proud off.

"What's with you children and being afraid of lice? You're right. Magic could never take care of that. Now, for your house - I think you'd do well in GRYFFINDOR!"

Adriana sat in the great hall, smiling from ear to ear. This was the moment she was waiting for for months now. She wasn't exactly excited to be away from home for so long, after all she hadn't really been away from anyone for that long. For as long as she could remember her days consisted of relaxing around with her father or dogs back home. As for her mom, well she wasn't much in the picture anymore. Yes she was at home, but the woman never made an effort to play around. Adriana just thought this was due to too much work stress. After all both of her parents loved her!

The dark haired girl hummed to herself and then tried to make small talk with the people surrounding her. The average 'What's your name?' 'Where do you want to be sorted?' was thrown around so much by the time that she got bored, she didn't even have a conversation starter. Secretly she was ecstatic that she had a last name starting with C. That way when she was called she could get away from the awkward air. That was one of the things she hated most. But, the best Adriana could do was attempt to be charming and courteous as she had practiced so many times.

Then, she heard it. "Clarke, Adriana." Without hesitation she stood and walked to the hat, sat, then smiled again. This was really not such a horrible thing. After all it was just saying where you would sleep and when you'd have classes. The girl looked up, smile still gracing her face. 'Okay hat. Where do you want me to go?'

"SLYTHERIN!"

As Sheridan was walking her way towards the other unsorted students she was filled with joy and excitement because she knows the journey of her school life will begin in a few minutes. When Sheridan reached the students she smiled at one of them and the girl smiled back, "Hmm....Its not hard to make friends here" Sheridan told herself. A minute later the sorting ceremony started. The professor started calling names by names as each student were starting to be sorted. Sheridan didnt feel a little bit nervous like other students feel instead she feel really happy and excited because she's really willing to know all about magic and proper ways of using them. And when the professor called her name "Skyshoffer, Sheridan", Sheridan walked happily to the small stool in front of her. She didnt care how many people are staring at her beacuse all she cared about was her education and her future. When she finally reached and sited at the small stool, Sheridan whispered at the hat "I know you'll put me in Ravenclaw" and waited for the hat's decision.

"You know, do you? Well maybe you're not as smart as you seem to think. I could see you doing well in any of three houses, but I'm putting you in HUFFLEPUFF!"

Paul was excited that he was finally at Hogwarts! He was also scared, because he didn't want to be in a house with a bunch of jerks. One of the others had already pushed him down the stairs, and that kid had already got Slytherin, Paul's least favorite house so far. Then, he heard one of the professors call "Gemstone, Paul" It was embarrassing having that kind of a last name, because you always get picked on. He walked up to the chair and sat down. The sorting hat was then placed on his head, and the kid who had pushed him was grinning. "Please hat, pick me a house I will like.", Paul whispered.

"It's less about what you will like and more where you'll fit. Slytherin isn't a house of jerks, but perhaps you'll learn that. I'm sorry, but you definitely belong in SLYTHERIN!"

George was waiting in the Great Hall for the sorting ceremony to begin. He was feeling "magicked" to be in Hogwarts school - he had heard tales of it from his friends and parents but nothing could be compared to what he saw now - the ceiling, the lake outside and the castle itself. And when he heard his name called out "Bojinov, George", his heart sank into his knees. He walked towards the chair and the hat, his legs trembling. He sat down and put the hat on his head and awaited. "Let me be out into a good house."he whispered.

"They're all good houses! But a good house for you is undoubtedly RAVENCLAW!"

Rosalind awaited her name to be called. Thoughts flew through her head as the headmaster called out last names starting with letter B. She'd prefer Ravenclaw, since it represented cleverness and wisdom. However, Hufflepuff was likely as well. Her father had been sorted into that house, and Rosalind fit some of the characteristics. Gryffindor, she wouldn't really mind, though it'd disappoint her a bit that she didn't get into Ravenclaw or Hufflepuff. And Slytherin, god no. She'd hate it. Most of them were just cruel and unjust. She'd hate being in that house. Rosalind would just be surrounded by people she detested. "Cross, Rosalind!" She heard. Here I go she thought, walking up to the stool. She sat down confidently, taking a deep breath. She closed her eyes, seconds before finding out what house she'd belong to for the next seven years.

"I hate to disappoint, but you're certainly a GRYFFINDOR!"

Alura heard her named called, like vague whisper drifting across her mind like mist. Letting out a small breath of air she didn't look at anyone else, just kept her eyes straight ahead, and took her first step forward. Small sweat beads we're forming on the side of her face, she could feel them dripping down with her anticipation. Once at the stool, she took a small breath in, let her eyes show no emotions.. just calm. Alura's face was the face of someone just walking down the street on any normal day, though on the inside she was nervous. Her heart was thumping like a generator and she watched as the professor placed the sorting hat over her head, 'relax. your going to be fine' was the last thing she thought to her self, with a calm smile and a sense of relief falling over her she listened to the sorting hat browse through her mind.

"RAVENCLAW!"

Lola looked at all the children around her with a wide smile on her face. A few she had met and she was waiving like mad while others gave her disapproving looks. There was one in the crowd that made Lola want to beat the leaving daylights out of but that was beside the point. Lola wasn't here for haters or friends. She was here for the hat. The hat that would tell her what place she was going to live in for seven years. Given it wasn't going to be much different from how she lived with her brothers and sisters back in El Salvador but it was going to be interesting to say the least. As the list was called Lola was wiggling in her Mary Jane shoes waiting for her last name to be called.

Slowly the people when up and after what seemed like forever Lola was called. Her nearly knocked one particularly small boy down to the ground as she ran up to accept the hat. All this was just so cool. Lola was half way expecting her alarm clock to wake her up at any moment! Lola sat down on the stool and waited for the hat to make it's desition. But then her mind didn't seem to want to shut up. "Hello Mr. Hat. I hope your well, I am Lola if you can hear me. I don't know how all this works, muggle you see. Or at least that's what one person called me. Muggle born. How did the word muggle start anyway? It seems kind of like a bad way to make a distinction from one person to the other. It could be just my slow self not making the connection.

"Could you just... quiet down... so I can do my job?"

Anyway I can't see any of the differences in the houses either so where ever you put me is going to be fine by me. Though I do like the color red so I guess Gryffendor would be good. That would give me a reason to beat the sense into one of the boys I saw going up earlier. I can't believe what he said about me. I didn't understand it all but I know it wasn't all that good. I'm slow not stupid." Lola seemed unable to make her mind stop for a moment she was excited and scared and just a little unbelieving of the entire situation. She just hoped that everything turned out for the best.

"That's enough. Fine. GRYFFINDOR!"

A.J. entered the great hall. It was magnificent, he thought. Just like all the castles of knights in the middle ages. He couldn't believe his eye. He looked up at the ceiling; it reflected the starry sky outside. Looking around the hall, he notices that the candles are floating in mid air. This is it, he thought. This is where I'm going to school. He accidentally exclaimed out loud, "I'm a wizard!"

"Yes, you are a wizard, an a wizard who will do his best in RAVENCLAW!"

Ivy Knight, walked with grace and poise as she neared the front of the hall, a few butterflies where fluttering around in her stomach, but she chose to ignore it and try to concentrate on the architecture in the room, she heard to her right someone explain the cause of the starry night sky/roof, apparently it was just a spell that created an illusion, a small smile tugged at her slightly chapped lips and she made her way forward with the rest of the group.

Names were slowly being called out and when it finally came down to hers, she saw that a few of the professors stared at her in wonder as well as a few students, but most just looked at her as if she was just another student. Ivy made her way towards the stool and sat down with an elegance that could never be taught she brushed a few strands of her wavy black hair behind her ear, and she allowed her stormy Grey eyes to wander the faces of each and every student in the hall, Professor Mcgonagall placed the hat on top of her head and she felt a new presence enter her mind. And she silently wondered which house she would be placed in.

"SLYTHERIN!"

Andy sighed and shifted her weight, biting her lip softly and glanced up at the large crowd of older students. The slight tension in the air just rubbed off on her and she held herself back from groaning in agitation. "Why am I even here..?" She grumbled, tugging at the ends of her sweater. Her eyes widened a bit as she felt her pet weasle, Darren, nip at her leg from under her sock. "Darren." She snapped queitly, glaring down at her foot.

She blinked as she heard her name being called, "Samuels, Andrea." She stood and gulped, walking forward awkwardly and sat before the sorting hat. The girl felt the fabric cover her eyes and she exhaled shakily, 'Ahh, man..'

"HUFFLEPUFF!"

I was in shock as i walked into the Great Hall and witnessed its granditure 1st hand. Looking around at it I didn't even notice the students around because i was so blown back this made me calm but before I knew it I was at the table and saw a hat appear before me. Nerves hit me again. I could feel the sweat drip down me and my heart stop as I heard "Punk Vettel" pound against the Great Walls. I walked up my legs feeling like they were hit with a curse i read about earlier i sat down and just as the hat slid over my head my heart froze...I waited in fear of what the decision would bring.

"You seem to definitely be a SLYTHERIN!"
