The Sorting Ceremony

"Adams, Hayley" The sorting hat scarily called.

Hayley was feeling really nervous during the sorting ceremony. She did not have any plans ahead of her and that's why she was uncertain of what house she wants to get sorted to.She really does not know what her future will bring. She does not believe in fate or whatsoever. She only believes that her future relies on the actions and decisions that she makes. But this one will be a big part of her life. It was a really big deal that she get sorted to the right house. While the hat was on her head, she was feeling so nervous. So nervous that she was beginning to get really sweaty.

"I am so sorry mr.sorting hat if my sweaty nervous glands are bothering you" Hayley said as her cheeks were beginning to turn pinkish red and it was getting hat. Just as soon as the hat was saying the results of sorting, she closed her eyes and listed to what was about to happen.

"I get used to these things after many years of first years. You're a HUFFLEPUFF!"

Tahlia walked through the humongous doors, she was SO excited to be accepted into Hogwarts that she could hardly keep in line. As she walked through the hall she caught a glimpse of the Slytherin table, her grandparents had told her that Slytherin was the house she should be in this year, she wondered whether that was true or whether she would find her own path in Hogwarts. When the teacher began to read out the names she was practically holding her breath she was that excited. Then she heard the words she'd been waiting for "Nimting, Tahlia" and without hesitation she practically ran up to the seat. she sat down and hoped she'd make it into her favourite house, Gryffindoor even though her whole family wanted her in Slytherin, she gave a sad smile at the thought of being in Slytherin, then sorting hat was lowered and everything went dark...

"Pay your family no mind! You're definitely a GRYFFINDOR!"

Jake was watching the back of the person in front of him's head. He ignored all the eyes scanning the line of eleven year olds. He looked up and wondered how to be sorted. He saw a teacher plonk a sorting hat over a child's eyes. He raised an eyebrow. Suddenly, the hat yelled:
"Gryffindor" And Jake understood how it worked. Somehow the hat could talk, and then read your mind, to see what you would be good for. So this is what that girl had meant.
"Anderson, Jake!" He gulped and went to sit on the stool. The sorting hat was placed over his head. He gulped.
Um... hello. Can you get this over with quickly? He thought.

"GRYFFINDOR!"

Kotaru stood at the back of the Great Hall, walking down the aisle, as he waited for his name to be called. He watched the different people wander up to get sorted. He was excited about the prospect, he wanted to be sorted into Ravenclaw, despite the fact that the rest of his family were in Slytherin. He was different from them in that aspect, an aspect he liked to flaunt. He was smart, whereas most of them weren't. He knew what he was doing most of the time, and he didn't like people telling him he was wrong, when he wasn't really.

"Higuchi, Kotaru"

He nearly jumped when he heard his name being called, and walked up to place the hat on his head. He sighed softly, and smiled. It's a pleasure to have you on my head, Mr. Hat, now if you could please sort me into my house, it would be appreciated. He said, the impatience he held thick in his thoughts.

"Certainly. You appear to be a HUFFLEPUFF!"

Lianna slightly smiled at her sister as she was sorted next and when her name was called out after her sister, she began walking up the short corridor to the sorting hat, smiling at both her sisters on the way up. 'Hat?' She inquired, feeling silly, and couldn't believe that she was being polite to all things, 'Please just put me in Slytherin where I belong, and no one will get hurt.' A small smirk was on her face when she said that and she couldn't believe that she had just said that. While she was sitting on the stool, she couldn't help but wonder what her sister said to persuade the hat to put her into Slytherin. 'Besides hat,' she thought, 'You know no other house except for Slytherin will accept me because father's in azkaban.' She thought. It was true, no other house, except for Slytherin would accept them, as no other house had accepted Jessica.

"Slytherin you say? Well perhaps, but not for the reasons you've listed. No, you've a lot to learn about people. Plenty to learn. What better place to learn about that than in HUFFLEPUFF!"

Charlita walked with the other students in the Great Hall where they will be sorted. They stood infront of a man and a stool with the Sorting Hat above it. The man explained what to do and he called the man. A couple of students were called before he said, "Norte, Charlita", he said he walked confidently to the stool and sat on it as the man was to put the Sorting Hat on her head. "Mr. Sorting Hat, sir, please get this over with." she said and waited for the Sorting Hat's decision.

"GRYFFINDOR!"

Elizabeth walked into the great hall and waved to the other students. Elizabeth is so excited to be sorted. She really wanted to be a Ravenclaw, so that she will be at the same group like Bella Hermione. (Bella Hermione is a friend of Elizabeth.) Elizabeth heard her name and step forward and the sorting hat has been put on her head.

"Ravenclaw? Hmm. Alright. I can see that. RAVENCLAW!"

Cassandra walked up the great hall, her dress had been replaced with black robes, not what she would call uniform. As her name was called she made her way up to the stool, feeling like she could just sit here in front of everyone all day. She didn't mind what house she was in, as long as she could keep her parents happy.

"Why are you all so worried about your parents at eleven? What business have they with your house? They don't have to go in to the dorms, or wear the colours. No matter. HUFFLEPUFF!"

Anthony stood, posture perfect with his head held high, with the rest of the children of his own age. He had promised his youngest sister a letter once this was over and they had finished sitting and eating. Gorgina was a wonderful child after all, she was sweet, kind and a beautiful woman in the making. Not to mention polite, unlike their older sibling. Katherine was a brat at best and neither Anthony nor Georgina would have much to do with the girl when not in public events.

The ceremony started with a singing hat, he found it most extraordinary and fascinating. This world would entertain his sister so with the stories he would relay back to her. He watched as the tatter of the hat began to sort people by simply reading their minds it seemed. Eventually they reached the K's and Anthonys' name was called. He walked, perfect posture still, to the stool and sat as he was taught was right before the wonderful hat was placed upon his head. You are quite the poster hat for the saying 'never judge a book by its' cover' are you not? Anthony thought to the wonderful hat before it spoke the words he would later repeat to Georgina.

"Yes, but you seen rather fixed on appearances sometimes, don't you? At least your own. That'd be some Salazaar in you. However, there's more than that, isn't there? That's why you'll do best in RAVENCLAW!"

Giselle eyed the stool in awe as she look at the crowds, she was chewing the gum not paying attention to any of the students that were going to be sorted. She had heard that her HALF sister was going to go to Hogwarts so she would probably meet her. However she had no interest in meeting her, she had love being the only child. She tried to forget about her HALF sister badly "skate boarding, skate boarding" She whispered trying to distract her self from thinking about her HALF sister.

Richard Giselle

Her heart raced fast as she heard her name being called. She sat down for several minute and forced her self to stand up. She then walk toward the stool as she sat down looking nervous. "Sort me anywhere you please, sir" She said politely not trying to make a bad image of her self in front of the public.

"It isn't about what I please, but rather where you belong. And you are most certainly a GRYFFINDOR!"

Cherie finally heard her name called. "Jin, Cherie!" She held her head high. Everyone was looking at her, or did it just feel like that? She liked it. She went up to the stool and sat down. The hat was placed on her head and she couldn't see. Hello, sorting hat, she thought. It's nice to have you on my head. I would like to be in Ravenclaw, but of course it's up to you- I'm just going to be quiet now.

"I don't think Ravenclaw is your house at all. No, no. You're a GRYFFINDOR!"

Eleven years old. God he had been eleven for a few months now and finally he was getting sorted. It seemed to take forever. For this reason Greyson blamed the system. Hogwarts New Zealand must of had a crappy system if he had to wait months after his eleventh birthday to be sorted with the rest of the soon to be first years. God. Didn't they know who he was. Greyson Weston. Father of Micheal Weston. Grandson to Damien Weston. Seriously were these people blind. Now he was in a great hall full of people, too many people, and still waiting to be sorted. Shouldn't they do the most important people first instead of going by the letter of your last night. Weston should be first not close to the end. Or maybe they were just saving the best for last. The final thought put a smug smile on the eleven year old boy's face as he ruffled his hair. It was one of his habits now. He had seen it in a muggle movie. The guy who ruffled his hair got all the girls and all the attention. Since they Greyson sort of just picked it up.

With his hands back at his side he tapped his foot impatiently. Hurry up Hurry up He thought smirking as she noticed a frail girl looking worried about her sorting. "You know one out of this whole crowd doesn't get sorted. And wow look the line is decreasing rapidly. Hope you aren't that one. But goodluck anyway" He said the last part in a spiteful cheerful manner. The girl turned pale white and Greyson held back his laughter. People in this place were going to be too too easy. Maybe it wouldn't be such a horrible time afterall.

Finally his name was called. With his head held up high, he took his long strides towards the stool. Sitting down on the stool he looked out across the crowd mentally picking out who would be worthless to him and who might gain the chance to hang around with him. Not many seemed to be worthy of that chance. The hat was placed on his head mid thought. Changing his thoughts more directed towards the hat now he waited. Any house I guess. I'll make my place in any house. Just wait and see. Any time now. Greyson thought looking out over the crowd once more. Why did this process have to take so long? Well at least he was the centre of attention. That was good enough reason to sit here while the hat made up it's mind, if it even had a mind.

"Any house? No, no. Not any house. SLYTHERIN!"

Jerry was sitting at the Griffendor table with a bunch of girls and boys his own age. He knew this was the table for him, however knew that it would be perfectly fine if it was any other house. Even Slytherin. Although he heard things about them, he thought all were the same and all were equal.

Presently he was called up, "FIREWALKER, JERRY!" He began to sweat and inched his way over to the chair where the hat was placed on his head. ONly fate would tell what would happen next.

"Hmm... your cunning attitude points you to a future in SLYTHERIN!"

Autumn stared around the Great Hall, in great fear. The place was so big. She had read a lot of books before knowing what she was, and relied strongly on science. Now her beliefs were in shambles. Apparently there was such a thing as magic! And she was a witch! She nervously looked at a hat placed on a stool in front of her. Autumn was incredibly nervous. She didn't know what to expect. However, whatever happened, Autumn was determined to learn as much as she can. She heard her name called out.
Stumbling forwards, Autumn made her way forwards, her knees shaking. Putting the hat on her head, she waited, dumbfounded for the first time in her life.

"RAVENCLAW!"

As Tawni walked into the great hall a view of many students all lined up could already be seen. Some were tough looking and others were nervous looking.
Tawni looked at all of the student that she could see one by one and she observed that some of the tough looking people were just pretending to look tough. She immediately knew some of the weaknesses of the students who were lined up.As she was looking at the students, she felt her pride get to its highest level. She knows very well that the sorting hat will never be mistaken with the house that she will get sorted to that was why she did not feel nervous at all.She can't help but look at the student who come and go until...

"Lancaster, Tawni!" Someone called out.The hat was put on her head and she carefully listened to the words of the hat.

"You could be a Ravenclaw. Bright, wise, eager to learn. But that's not quite you, is it? No, you have goals you'll achieve no matter the cost - to you, or to others. Simple enough, then! SLYTHERIN!"

Lianna was finally eleven and going to Hogwarts. She hummed quietly as she walked, until someone shot a glare in her direction. She frowned and stopped singing. She wondered how the sorting system worked. Magic was not a new concept to Lianna, but she thought it was only something her mother could do. Learning that she too would be able to learn magic made Lianna very excited.

She stared at the back of someone's head that was obscuring her view. She wasn't small, but it seemed that there were a lot of tall eleven year olds here. Her mother had been in Hufflepuff, she recalled. Lianna didn't want to be in Hufflepuff. She wanted to be in Ravenclaw. She heard her name being called, and smiled happily. She walked up to the stage, and beamed at the sorting hat. "Hello." she greeted the hat, and allowed it to be placed on her head. "I would like Ravenclaw, but I don't mind as long as I'm not in Hufflepuff." she said.

"Ravenclaw? Hmm, maybe. Not Hufflepuff? Well why not? You're plenty fair and loyal. No? Well, you're not perfectly a Ravenclaw, either. I see you in GRYFFINDOR!"

Skye wasn't one for being nervous. But the whole scene was making her shake. The ceiling was so high she could barely see it. The big stone walls made her feel cold, and small. She looked around her. Not everyone was scared. Some people were actually enjoying themselves. Skye frowned thoughtfully. She was normally brave, so much so she was making herself feel uncomfortable, she was never nervous.
Pull yourself together, Aubrey! She often referred to herself by her surname in her thoughts. One day she knew she'd say it out loud and get a few stares, so she tried to make people refer to her as Aubrey anyway.

Skye was one of the first to be called up - And she was glad. She wanted it over already, and she hadn't even started. She waited patiently for her name to be called up, getting more confident as she sat there.

'Aubrey, Skye.'

Skye stood up slowly. All eyes were on her, and she hated being the center of attention. Carefully, she made her way up the great hall and sat on the stool. She took a deep breath in. As the hat was placed on her head, she knew whatever it said could change her life...

"I can see you're brave. You've been considering Gryffindor for yourself, perhaps? Well, you might do well there... but your brightest future lies in HUFFLEPUFF!"

Cole entered the Great hall and waved to the other students. They stopped and a professor is explaining about the sorting thing. The professor called her name and walked in front and the sorting hat has been put on her head.

"RAVENCLAW!"

Ariane Yamashita is standing inside the great hall waiting for her name to be called. At last, her name was called and upon walking she whispers to herself please sort me to my dream house....

"Dream house? Well, you have high ambitions - I don't know about a 'dream house', but the one you belong in is SLYTHERIN!"

The long train ride had been nothing to the nerves of Nora Herrington compared waiting to be sorted. Standing amongst her peers, she was silent but her thoughts were swarming so loudly and beating against the inside of her head that she was sure that everyone standing around her could hear them. These next few minutes would be paramount to her future, or so Nora had read, if she was put into a house of anything less then what she was, it would be clear that there was something behind the smiles and polite gestures that she had never delved into. As frightening as a thought this was, she could not spare the time to think of such things now.

If Nora was to reach her goals, she would have to focus from here on in. Looking to her older cousin, Clarice she smiled gently, her features almost lighting her dark eyes but her cousin looked over at a red-headed boy and almost appeared jaded as she spoke quietly to him. Looking away in embarrassment, she heard the Sorting Hat sing it's song and smiled as the first students were called up and sorted. The 'A's all went by smoothly as had the 'B' and 'C's but by the 'D's, Nora was feeling nervous again. Calm down, they'll all love you no matter what house you been placed in, she thought, remembering what her mother had told her of her days at Hogwarts as they had spoken the night before she had left for New Zealand.

"Herrington, Pippa." Nora looked up as she heard the name that was only spoken by her close relatives and sighed. "It's Nora," she corrected as she walked forward through the crowd, her fingers fiddling with the sleeves of her cardigan as her oxford shoes padded on the wooden flooring, making gentle cracking sounds until she sat on the stool. As the over-sized, older hat was placed on her young, almost undeserving head, Nora thought as her stomach twisted and untwisted, Erm, hi there! I don't know if you can hear this or how you really work but I guess I'd like to thank you for sorting me into the house you feel I will belong into. A nervous chuckle and a shake of her shoulders later, Nora fell silent and waited for any sort of response from the Sorting Hat.

"HUFFLEPUFF!"

Nathan jumped when his name was called,

"Riley,Nathan"

He was thinking about his beloved sister. He walked toward the stool with nothing in mind but her sister. He wish that she's here with him and be sorted like him. He hate to leave his sister but what else can he do?

He sat on the stool and a hat was placed on his head.Hello,Mr.Hat.I really miss my sister, do you think she'll be okay without me?.

"I don't know... what I do know is that you belong in HUFFLEPUFF!"

Grace walked into the great hall with all the other children waiting to be sorted. It was the moment she had been waiting for ever since she had been old enough to understand about magic and Hogwarts. Grace noticed that most kids looked rather nervous, she couldn't understand why, this was so awesome! The young red head couldn't stand still as she bounced a little waiting for her name to be called. Come on!! Call my name already!! she thought impatiently. Finally Grace's name was called and she ran up to get the hat on her head tripping in the process. Grace ignored the laughter of the other children as she waited for the hat to choose her place. Please Mr. Hat, Gryffindor! That would be so awesome! she kept on thinking.

"GRYFFINDOR!"

Xavier was sitting with the rest of the students waiting to be sorted when he started to talk to a few other students and said, "I wish that old hat would hurry it up, I want to just get this over with and be on my way." A few of the other students started laughing and all of a sudden Xavier's name was announced, "Littlefield, Xavier." Hamza walked up to the podium and sat in the chair with the Sorting hat on top of him. He spoke to the hat, "Could you please hurry up? Just place me in any house and I'll be on my way. I've got too much to do on my hands than to just sit around." He then waited for an answer from the Sorting Hat.

"It would be wise, young man, for you to learn some patience - and respect for the magic that controls your future. Right then, where do you belong? Ahhh, simple enough. SLYTHERIN!"

Ned is happy that he can be sorted and he is excited about the sorting hat will said.

"RAVENCLAW!"

Taylor strode up the middle of the hall. He couldn't wait to see his best friend, he knew she'd be surprised. He sat down on the stool. He was proud, confident and happy. All he knew was that he didn't want hufflepuff. The hat was placed on his head, and Taylor shut his eyes. Murmurs around him faded when the sorting hat spoke.

"You don't want Hufflepuff? Well that makes this quite difficult. Well, you do appear brave and you love adventure. You're sure about Hufflepuff? Nothing really wrong with them. Alright, alright. GRYFFINDOR!"
