<SIZE size="50">Archturus felt like he was in the middle of a nightmare. So far, the only thing remotely cool about all of this, was the ceiling showing the night sky. His father would really love all of this, unfortunately, Archturus was not interested in it unless it could get him back home. He was already feeling homesick in this place - he did not want to even go here to begin with. An argument of colossal proportions began at home and had carried on right until he had to leave his over-enthusiastic father. He couldn't remember the last thing he had said to him in is fit of rage, but he doubted it was anything good. In fact, it was probably an insult with half a dozen swears. He felt mildly guilty, but all such emotion disappeared quickly when a hat started singing. He looked up at the stars, as if this would somehow magically connect him to his father, who would probably be staring at them too. He glared. "You did this to me." He would never be forgiven for this. Once he was back home, he would tell his father exactly what he was forced to endure here - day one: singing hat. What was next? A dancing scarf? Acting gloves? He did not have the mental fortitude to even pretend to care or find any of this entertaining. He couldn't even bring anything he liked because apparently technology was useless here. Boredom would soon kill him, he was sure.

Having a last name that started with E, it was a short wait. Thankful that the hat had ceased its singing, Arch frowned deeply as he made his way through his fellow newbies. He was never going to like it here. Huffing slightly at the stool as he sat upon it, Archturus looked out over the sea of students before him, arms crossed over his chest. He pursed his lips as the hat was placed on his head and waited in silence for a hat to make the decision on what colour he would wear during his time at school. He doubted this was a decision that required all of this - did it even really matter where he was placed? He wouldn't like it anyway. "Please, don't leave me in suspense," he gritted sarcastically.

"Desi!" hissed Damide loudly, waving frantically to his brother seated at the Griffindor table. He could almost hear the third year rolling his eyes at the dark-haired young man who was rocking back and forth on the balls of his feet, occasionally being glared at a fellow first year whom he bumped into. Damide glared right back and nudged the boy with his elbow. "As if you're not excited, too." Excited was a rather inadequate term for what he was feeling at the moment he walked through the doors to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Never in his young life had he ever walked through the doors of such a grand establishment, and when the intimidation had worn off, Damide had almost left the group in his haste to check out every room he could reach before they entered the Great Hall. He'd been shooed back in line by a stern ghost with a hand that felt like a bucket of icecubes being poured down his back, and the young man managed to stay put but craned his neck every which way to see the next site to be seen.

"Snow, Damide!"

Oh, so that's why he'd been waiting so long. Damide wondered why his father had enrolled him under the foster-system's name rather than his mother's, until he remembered that Audel had yet to propose to Demeter. Damide reminded himself to bug his Papa about it as he practically ran up to the stool to have the hat jammed on his head.
Curiously, as soon as the brim fell over his eyes, all thoughts left Damide's head. He felt peaceful and centered as he waited for the hat to announce its decision. Unlike many of the other whispering, nervous first years who'd been comparing houses in hushed voices, pointing to family members and friends and voicing their hopes for the future. He supposed it might be nice to study with Desideratus, but it seemed to the Audel's eldest that no matter where he went, he'd find the opportunity to adventure. Poised and ready to hear the verdict, the noise of the Great Hall faded around him as the mouth of the Sorting Hat cracked open and announced ...

For three months Haseo waited and prepared himself mentally. Looking around he saw the other students and felt the same rush he got whenever he was out on the soccer field for an important match. The fear started to creep into the depths of his mind however he was able to push it down with a deep breath. There was nothing to be worried about, his dad had already told him about the sorting he had at Hogwarts Scotland and it seemed as though this would be done the same way.

Slytherin, the house where he who must not be named was in. The thought of being put into that house was next to impossible, his father was muggle born and his mother was muggle. The hat would have to be a fool to put him there unless it wanted him to get expelled for fighting with anyone that thought they were better than him because of what family they were born into. Haseo smirked as he thought of the irony of being sorted into Slytherin House and how it might be interesting to see what their world was really like.

He continued walking forwards as other students were sorted into their houses. He looked over at one of the tables and saw the yellow banner of Hufflepuff house. His father had been in Hufflepuff, they were a nice and hard working group. Haseo didn't think he would mind being in Hufflepuff House if it came down to it. They accepted people for who they were and that was something Haseo could admire when he thought about it.

Next, he looked over and saw Ravenclaw house, they tended to be more academic which would probably fit his japanese heritage. Haseo could be smart when it counted however that often involved sitting more than he would like too. He could think things out however his mother had often pointed out that like her, he tended to act before really giving serious thought. Like Hufflepuff House, Haseo could see himself sitting amongst them, however he felt he might end up getting some of them into trouble a few times before he graduated.

Finally as he heard his name called out, he stepped forwards towards the hat and sat on the stool. Looking out he saw the red color's of Gryffindor House. It was the house of Godric Gryffindor whome Haseo has always imagined as being more of a knight than a wizard. It didn't help that the coat of arms was a lion which is normally atributed to knights or that Godric was famous for having a goblin made sword. Haseo wasn't quite sure if he saw himself as a knight but like the other two houses couldn't see himself not fitting in with students in Gryffindor.

(Alright Hat, let's see what you got, I'm ready for whatever you want to throw at me) Haseo thought as he took another deep breath as the hat was placed on his head. He felt confident that he was ready for the future.

"Farrah Jones." Her heart was pounding like crazy and she started to see a little hazy. Stop it, Farrah! This hat was only going to sort her into a house where she was going to be for the next seven years. Not a big deal.. She thought about what Lucy had said to her on the train. What would she do if she weren't in Slytherin? Her parents would probably be furious. She didn't really understand why they wouldn't be ok with any other house, but she knew they weren't.

She glanced at the Slytherin table. They seemed the least appealing house to her. All other houses were smiling happily, but the Slytherins just sat there.. Kind of like how her parents always sat at dinner. And she didn't like the look on their faces when that girl before her was sorted into Hufflepuff.

Professor McGonagall had said her house would be like a family to her. But would it, really? Could it replace her family at home, full of Slytherins? She staggered towards the stool and sat down. The stool was less comfortable than she expected, to her dismay. Professor McGonagall placed the hat on top of her head and Farrah could hear it speak to her. She wanted to get it over with so badly...

Cassie is standing between the tables waiting for her turn to go up to the sorting hat. She is so nervous she thinks the butterflies will escape through her mouth. Her hand are shaking and sweating, Cassie repeatedly dries them of on her brand new robes that tomorrow will bear the color of one of the houses. That thought scares her a bit. Suddenly it is her turn. "Cassie O'brien!". *This is it...* She thinks. *It feels like I will throw up.* She sits on the stool and the professor puts the hat on her head. It is totally quiet for a few seconds before the hat screams out her house.

Valentin had been told about the school by his older sister, however, he was still amazed at how large and bright it was. It was much bigger than home, and the stone walls were nothing like the panels of his grandparents' house. He looked around the hall, already beginning to feel a little homesick, when he saw a familiar face in the crowd of his year - a girl he had met in the park. He grinned at her, and waved, but did not approach nor call out. He was glad to see her, but was looking for two slightly more important faces. His sister's were in Gryffindor and Slytherin, and both tucked away Merlin knew where. He had trouble finding the blonde and brunette in the mess of faces at each of their houses. He grinned, however, when he saw his Gryffindor sister Dominique waving at him excitedly. Trust her to be silently-cheering for him.

By time he found Francesca, who was much more subtly waving at him, his name was called and it was time to get moving. Giving her a quick wave, Valentin slipped his way through the crowd, not bothering to apologise for stepping on toes and such in his excitement. All the young boy wanted was to get up there, get sorted, and go sit down and start this thing. He was completely ready. At first there had been some hiccups, but now he was completely ready to start and have as great a time as he could possibly manage. In his excitement, he skipped a few steps and ended up hitting the deck with a thump. Rubbing his chin and ignoring any reactions to his slip-up, he jumped right back up and puffed his chest slightly, before sitting on the stool. He was slightly shaken, but refused to appear too nervous. Gripping the stool beneath him carefully, the hat fell over his eyes, and he was greeted with darkness.

The young blond walked into the Great Hall with all the other first years. It was time, finally! The Great Hall looked amazing, just what her father had described. As she thought about her father, she couldn't help but wonder what house she would be in. Her father was a Slytherin, which kept her open minded. He wanted his only daughter to be a Slytherin, but Charlie was not sure. She wanted to make her father proud, to make a name for herself. However, she would not care what house she got into. She would make her name, shine as bright as she could, no matter which house that old hat decided to put her into.
Charlie continued to listen to the song by the hat, not really listening, but more hearing what was going on. There was always a difference between hearing and listening. For a moment the young girl wished she could have a last name that started with an A. Can't change that She thought knowing quite well she never would. Her last name was hers. She was going to make the world know that last name. Charlie began to play with her classic charm bracelet as she waiting her turn. Slytherins, Hufflepuffs, Ravenclaws, and Gryffindors were all being sorted and placed at their tables smiling and smirking as they did so.
Finally "Langstin, Charlie" was called. Most people probably expected a boy. Charlie was not a common name for a girl. However her mother was a fan of unisex names and to be honest Charlie loved her name. Charlie Sophia Langstin. It had a ring to it. Lost in her thoughts, Charlie made her way to the front of the group of first years and took a seat on the stool. Keeping her eyes open as she glanced around the hall, hearing the sorting hat speak to her about to tell her just where she belonged in order to make a huge difference.

Georgina was used to extravagant buildings, she had been inside some of the most glamourous palaces the world had to offer. Despite this when she walked into the Great hall at Hogwarts she was gobsmacked by what she saw. The hall was more beautiful than any palace she had ever seen. She was not the only one that was amazed by her new surroundings, some of the students in the group with her where also looking up at the hall. For some reason however the sight of this made Georgina roll her eyes, she found herself thinking that none of these people had seen anything as spectacular as the places she had seen and didn't have as good a reference point as herself. As much as she was enjoying seeing her new school, Georgina was still quite bitter about the circumstances that had led to her coming to New Zealand. She had decided that she would let out some of her bitterness and frustration out on her fellow students. They were only commoners after all and she was a Lady. She smiled to herself as they were led down the hall to a stool at the front. After an introduction to what was about to happen the students were called up to the stool one by one and a hat was placed on her head. To Georgina's surprise the hat began to talk and announced one of the four houses for each student. It was one of the most amazing and surreal things she had ever seen and it wasn't long before it was her turn. "De Lacey, Georgina," The Professor called her name and Georgina made her way up to the chair and slowly the hat was placed on her head. For the first time since landing in New Zealand, she felt a pang of nerves.

Ashe looked around, mouth agape. Hogwarts was even more incredible than she'd been told! Edea scowled at her, a silent warning to stop fidgeting, but she couldn't help herself - she was just so excited! Shuffling from one foot to the other, she impatiently waited for her name to be called as she gazed around the room. She half-listened to the explanation given, but she was more worried about what house she'd be in. Aunt Sara had been a Slytherin, Mum had been a Ravenclaw and Dad had been a Gryffindor. She wondered if that meant anything for her, though she'd been told the Sorting Hat judged on your own merit, not who your family had been. Though in fairness, Gryffindor and Ravenclaw made the most sense. Ashe also wondered what house Edea would be put in. Probably not Gryffindor, she was too meek and quiet. Maybe Slytherin, like Aunt Sara. A lot of people considered Slytherins to be evil, though, and Edea wasn't evil. A stick in the mud, perhaps, but not evil.

"Fortescue-Bleakley, Ashelia!"

She winced a little - nobody called her by her full name - but having been jolted from her musings, she practically bounced up to the Sorting Hat and jammed it on to her head, wanting to know what house she was in right now.

Cairo knew what being the child of a rock star entailed. The perks, drawbacks and unrealistic expectations for the lifestyle of living with his parents' surname was as familiar as the back of his hand and kept constantly in the forefront of his mind since he had spent the entirety of his eleven years being plagued by them. He had learned to trust his gust and question everyone's intentions. To understand that not everyone is genuine in their actions. He had also learned the importance of anonymity. The fact that hiding who he was, or rather, who he was related to, was more beneficial that honesty in any form. The most important thing Cairo had learned, however, was to act nonchalant, keep his mouth shut and his posture straight as he followed his sister like a shadow. Because unlike Cairo, Rome knew how to handle people in a pinch. She had the ability to dive into everything head first and somehow recover if her improvised plans went astray which is an ability Cairo could not even hope to gain. He spent far too much time planning his actions and contemplating escape routes to learn how to be spontaneous.

So, when the sorting ceremony was due to begin, Cairo did what he knew best, and trailed his sister's footsteps as they followed the rest of their peers into the great hall. He allowed his eyes to wander to his surroundings when the group of soon-to-be first years halted to a stop near the front of the hall, and almost became lost in thought before the sound of his own name jolted him back to reality. "Savage, Cairo." He kept his face straight as he walked towards the stool and sat down without an ounce of hesitation, though he appeared to be more relaxed than indifferent as the sorting hat was placed on his head and he waited for it to decide his fate. He had yet to think about the house he wanted and as the hat sat atop his platinum blonde head he still had no thoughts about which house he proffered. The only thing on his mind was being paired with his sister because the thought of being separated from the only person he could tolerate unnerved him more than he cared to admit.

<SIZE size="50">Rome Savage stood proudly with her brother by her side, she glanced at him every so often, the only sign that Rome was even a little bit nervous. She wasn't really, just worried that she and her brother might be split up, after all with four houses, no matter how alike they were there was still that small chance they wouldn't be together, sharing a house and classes for the next seven years. Rome wasn't even sure how to react to that if it did happen. Their lives had been turbulent to say the least, though different and endlessly interesting, it had taught Rome a good few things, and most importantly that the only person she could honestly trust was by her side. Which by the end of the evening might not be true. Rome had never had much trouble before when it came to things like this, she usually was able to just dive right into any situation, make the most of it, get what she wanted out of it, her twin, well, he was her most trusted companion but he walked in her shadow, she was aware of this. Perhaps splitting up would be better? Allow him time to grow, Rome shook the thought from her head as quickly as it came, she would be selfish about this, her brother was sorted first, and she would for once hopefully be the one to follow him. The girl glanced around the hall as she walked in, resisting the urge to hold on to her twin's sleeve. She couldn't help but look around, her pale blonde hair moving in front of her eyes as she darted from one thing to the other, this place was so strange. Stranger than any of the places Rome had ever been within her short, though interesting life.

Stood with the rest of the students at the front of the room, standing before a stool and a hat, Rome watched as proceedings for this ceremony got underway. She sighed, feeling bored already, since the singing was prolonging the time to the sorting and really only wanting to get the process over with. After all, the sooner it was done the better, the sooner she could sit and then consider what her next move was if he wasn't with her, and if he was. She couldn't help but wonder about why the hat had to sing, the purpose of it seemed to escape her, was it just to teach people of the houses? The ones knew to the school and there unlikely to really know what Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw and Slytherin were, was it really for their benefit, and surely those houses would be better explained in a letter of some kind when they first find out about the magical school. Rome was glad when the song was finally over, it had been an assault on her ears she would rather forget but as soon as it was over the students then began to be sorted. Rome watched with fascination as student after student was sorted, and grew increasingly annoyed at their father for a surname beginning with S rather than something far earlier in the alphabet, though this was the first time she was cursing her father for something other than a splitting headache from the music, or the people who seemed to think it was neat to talk to her about her father in the street. Finally it neared them, she and her brother, and then all too soon it was her brother's turn. She watched him carefully, offering a smile to him as the hat was placed on his head, unable to be the first one to dive in to show him the way.

And, he was sorted, it was done, nothing more she could do. Then of course, with little pause for breath it was her turn, "Savage, Rome," Rome made her way up to the stool and sat down quickly, trying to spot her brother as he sat down at his new table, hoping that she would be sorted with him, she would soon find out as the hat was placed on her head.

Edea smoothed her skirt, trying desperately to ignore the buildup of sweat on her palms. It was disgusting, but nerves did that sort of thing. She was very good at hiding her nervousness, but it was there whether she liked it or not. Now, now, she reprimanded herself. It's simple. It just tells you which house you'll be in. Nothing to worry about. It'll mess up your hair, yes, but that can be fixed. In thinking that, Edea's hand went to her hair, making sure her bow was still neat, before she turned around to Ashe, who gaped at everything like a fish out of water. She worried about her sister, but she also kind of hoped they'd be in different houses. People would think Ashe was either amazing or weird, and Edea knew she'd be overshadowed by it either way. She didn't want to be the quiet twin. She wanted to be her own person, and she wanted everyone to like her and she wanted to be successful.

Simple task, right?

After Ashe was sorted, Edea was next, naturally. "Fortescue-Bleakley, Edea!"

Forcing a calm smile on to her face, Edea strode towards the Sorting Hat and sat down as calmly as she could, although her heart was racing. There was nothing she could do now but await judgement. She only hoped that said judgement would allow her the start of something wonderful at Hogwarts.

Lyra Potter looked up at the stars in the sky, or rather the roof of the Great Hall. Her mother had told her stories about the school. Little details that she remembered. The tiny brunette had never imagined that it would look that realistic. Her green eyes scanned the room. She saw her Aunt Cyndi and her grandmother, Jacqueline, at the staff table. She smiled at them, pleased to have familiar faces around her. She was eager and excited to be sorted into a house at Hogwarts New Zealand. Both of her parents had been in Gryffindor, and Lyra desperately wanted for Link and herself to end up in that house. She had a long family history connected to the House.

One by one, the students were being called to the front of the room for the Sorting Hat to be placed on their head. Finally, she heard "Potter, Lyra." She heard whispers in the room. No doubt a reaction to the last name. The young girl stuck her chin up in the air proudly and marched to the front of the room with all of the confidence in her body. She ignored the stares as she sat down on the hard stool. Please put me in Gryffindor. she thought to the hat, knowing that the Hat sometimes honored requests. At least, that is what her grandpa told her. She waited impatiently to hear the decision of the Sorting Hat.

Silus Hollister wrinkled his nose as his name was called. How he wished he could change names. His last name was linked to that sorry old muggle who had left him and his mother not long after leaving the alter. Scowling, he grudgingly neared the wooden stool that sat at the end of the Great Hall. While he was relieved at being able to attend the school, being around so many other people was not helping his mood. They were all staring at him. Probably wondering why he couldn't afford a new set of robes. Judging him. All judging him.

He took his seat on the wooden stool and raised his eyes to watch as the Sortung Hat was placed atop his head. Hopefully it wouldn't leave a musty smell. That hat looked ancient. He had no doubt it could actually sort students, how accurately was the question. It looked rather tattered, and Silus had lost most of not all respect for the thing when it had sang. He hoped the hat wouldn't place him with people he wouldn't like. Not that he usually liked people, but some of the students at their tables looked like utter fools. He grimaced as he saw a rather jovial looking table in yellow. 'So you're going to sort me? Good grief. As long as you don't make me sit with them I won't fuss...too badly.'

As soon as he saw the Great Hall, Alessio Benivieni gasped. It was beautiful! He thought he would be overwhelmed by how different this place was compared to back at home - being muggle born and the first child of four, Alessio didn't exactly know what to expect considering he never had experience in this world. He made a mental note to tell all about the wizarding world to his siblings later on in the year. The thought hit him just then, he was the first one out of his family to enter this magical world! He was excited and a small smile graced his lips. When all first years gathered around in the middle of the Hall however, Al could feel all eyes fixed on the group. His excitement was replaced by nervousness - where would he sit? With who? Will he make any friends this year? He kept thinking of all sorts of things before it was his turn to get sorted. Wow, he'll have to read more about Hogwarts New Zealand later. The eleven year old boy stood near the front of the group, not wanting to have more attention on him if he was at the back. He felt as if the anticipation was eating away at his stomach, Alessio couldn't wait any longer.

"Benivieni, Alessio!" Swallowing hard, his throat dry, he slowly made his way to the stool to where a hat, of all magical weirdness he saw in just one day, got placed on his head. He breathed deeply, his eyes meeting with darkness as being the short person he was. He muttered "I hate all this attention...hopefully if you sort me, dear old hat, I can soon get to my books waiting in my trunk, without everyone staring at me. You do know where to sort me right? I won't remain unsorted?" Alessio's slight Italian accent slipped into place whenever he felt uncomfortable.

Link walked into the Great Hall with the rest of the first years and his twin. His first instinct was to look at the Gryffindor table as he thought about his parents sitting there enjoying a meal when they were younger. Gryffindor was the house of the brave and the bold and that was something that definately described Link. He had been waiting all summer for this moment and it was now about to happen; he was going to get sorted into his house and learn magic like the rest of his family.

"I wish they were hurry up" Link whispered to Lyra as he looked out the windows wondering if he could see the Quidditch Pitch, he couldn't wait until the moment he would be allowed to hop on a broomstick and try out for his House team. He started to tap his foot, not because he was nervous but because the excitement was building and he wanted to meet the rest of the people in his house. He ignored the names that were being called out but definately looked when he heard two people get sorted into Slytherin.

Link rolled his eyes as he looked over towards the Slytherin Table and began thinking of a way to shorten the legs from it. He would have to sneak out at night but was sure he could get away with it. Silently chuckling to himself, Link imagined the surprise on the Slytherin's faces when they saw that their table was shorter than the rest. His Grandfather and mother had tried convincing him that being sorted into Slytherin house wouldn't be that bad or make you a bad person however it had never made much of an impression on Link.

"Potter, Link!"

He looked back towards the stool as his name was called and began walking forwards. He wasn't nervous as he turned and sat and looked out over the great hall. Slowly the Sorting Hat was placed over his head as his mind started to wander again. His first thought was that he wanted to be sorted into Gryffindor like his parents had been, however that thought quickly vanished and was replaced with another. 'I want to be in the same house as Lyra, I don't care if it's Ravenclaw or Hufflepuff; I need to be with her so I can protect her' Link thought as loud as he could. It was the first time he had ever imagined that he and his sister might be seperated and he knew that could not happen. He was her brother and since their dad had dissapeared, it was up to him to protect her and make sure that she was safe for the next seven years. It didn't matter what house they were in as long as the two were together; they would always be able to have fun.

Asier's feet padded lightly against the stone flooring of Hogwarts New Zealand. The boy, whose English was broken, was both nervous and excited to be in a building so wondrous. The brunette's hair was flicked from his face with a shake of his head, and he stood in wait, with a hundred other students, to be told where he belonged most. He wondered which house was the best for him, though he was positive that Ravenclaw - an intelligent house as he thought - was not the house for he.

the eleven year old rocked between toes and heels as he waited for the moment that could change his life forever. The group around him dwindled down farther and farther, until finally it was his turn and his name was called. With sheer excitement he nearly sprinted to the stool and sat down. Not sure of the purpose of the sorting hat, he cleared his thoughts from his head, attempting to sit with a silent mind, which was nearly impossible considering how many thoughts he had per minute running through his head.

Sonya Blade walked through the Great Hall and waited for her name to be called upon as she watched the other people in her year being sorted. She didn't really care where she ended up, or where any of the others ended up. She just wanted to get this over and done with so that she could go and find out what classes she was doing and start studying for them. The only thing that really mattered was the grades, and if you got bad grades then what was the point in even coming to the school to begin with? You were here to do your best, and if you just slacked off the whole time and did whatever you wanted then what was the real point?

"Blade, Sonya

She approached the hat and sat down as she heard her name be called to be sorted, the sooner this was done the better. She had no interest in a 'Sorting Ceremony', whatever that meant. She loved magic and she was interested in the premise of the school, but some of it's traditions seemed lackluster and downright stupid. She sighed to herself as the hat was placed on her head. "Just get this over and done with." She said, waiting for the decision.

Washington was feeling fairly neutral, he wasn't worried like some of the other students obviously were, while he also wasn't over-the-moon excited like others. He was simply trying to adjust to the mere size of the castle and was in awe of everything, he was just trying to take it all in. Washington was standing next to a few boys around his age, he tried to remember faces hoping to figure out their names sooner than later. He re-adjusted his sleeves, and rolled them up just under his elbow, Washington sighed, such a simple action managed to make him more comfortable. Washington's thoughts drifted back to home, he thought of his two best friends back in Ireland, and his parents flying back. I can't forget to send them an owl, Wash thought sternly to himself, his family was important to him and he knew his importance to them. Washington's thoughts were snapped back into focus when the group of first-years were lead into the Great Hall.

The aroma of the Great Hall was intoxicating, while walking in the ceiling completely captivated him. Somehow the ceiling reflected the sky outside, Wash made note to ask how that was done. A kind looking lady, who introduced herself as Professor King, started speaking. Washington made sure to listen intently because it seemed respectful. After that, Wash just kind of spaced out. Until a large amount of cheering came from one of the tables, and a new first year made their way towards the hollering. That must be the sorting process, he made sure to watch the rest, trying to reassure the butterflies fluttering into his stomach after each student left the clump in the middle.

"Smith, Washington."

Washington exhaled upon hearing his name, he had memorized the procedure. He walked up towards the stool confidently, but not over-confidently. Wash lowered himself down gently, and placed his hands next to his sides gripping on to the stool. He grinned momentarily as the hat fell over his eyes, "Okay, Mr. Hat" he took a breath in, "where am I going?" he bit his lip and waited.

Marcella's eyes were wide with wonder as she looked around the Great Hall. She had never been in a place so grand, and she was beginning to feel the magic in it all. The roof showed the beautiful night sky, and the young girl was ready to move in immediately. Just skip all of this business and get her bags unpacked so she could go checking out everything. She grabbed her brother's hand and dragged him through the crowd to the front. She wanted to be as close to where the action was as possible. She was itching to get her education underway and become a proper witch, since learning that such things were possible. She grinned widely at her brother, before returning her attention to the scene before her. A singing hat? This was so awesome!

She grinned as her brother's name was called before her own, and chewed on her lower lip as he was sorted, knowing that she would be next. Her heart skipped a beat as her name was called, and she ran up the stairs without a second thought, before sitting on the hat. She giggled slightly as she hat was placed on her head, and immediately forgot about the crowd of students before her as her eyes were shielded. "Let's do this, Mister Hat!".

Misha's face was a large smile, her blue orbs almost overshadowed by dimpled cheeks. The brunette soon-to-be first year was feeling rather exhilarated by the whole concept of being in a magical school. Of course both her parents were mixed bloods, so she knew this day would come, she just didn't expect it would be so marvelous. The lights, the students, the everything. It was all for her to take in, and for her next seven years she would spend many days and nights within this castle, learning everything she could about magic. Her smile widened if possible, and a new skip was put into her step at that thought.

Being a Corvey, it wasn't long before Misha heard her name, and with a bounce in her black flats, she approached the stool. She'd read so much about the sorting hat, she was overzealous in asking it questions. "Hello, Mr. Sorting Hat!" She began her thoughts politely. "You do wonders for everyone else, I need the house that best suits me and I know you'll do that! Thank you!" She stuated herself better on the stool in waiting, fingers crossed in her lap as she held her breath.[/i][/i].

The day has come for me, Xiochtle to be sorted. I stood their amidst the other students, some of them chatting about ow nervous they were and excited at the same time. And I realized, deep inside I am too. I can feel that my palms are sweaty and ignored the fact that the soles of my feet is rather cold. I was still staring at basically everything except people eyes, I'm not just good at that. I was so engrossed by the interior of the hall that I nearly missed the sorting hat.

As the Sorting Hat emerged I can already sense the wisdom and knowledge it possessed. It gave a short introduction which I didn't really paid attention. Then he started calling names and sorting them one by one. Narrowing the numbers of students gets me anxious every second. But the excitement was there too, the spells , exploration and learning. The suddenly...

"Morta, Lief Xio...ch... Oh forget that." I Nearly fainted when I heard my name, when everyone's eyes and attention are to you. I covered my face with my dark brown hair to hide my embarrassment. Son of a bee sting. I willed myself to walk towards the sorting hat and didn't forgot to say "Good Evening, Mr. Hat." with my softest voice ever.

"Good Evening Ms. Morta, anything you want to say before you get sorted?" He asked mischievously.
"Uhmmmm," my mind literally went blank." And then I heard myself say "I'm hungry." And then the whole hall boomed with laughter. And I didn't forgot to mentally torture myself.

"Very well, lets get started then." And the hat was placed on my head.

This might be bizarre but the only thing that's left on my mind is... "Am I worthy?".

Archie walked into the hall with the rest of the first years, all of whom were strangers at the moment but some would be in the same house as him soon enough. His siblings had come back from their respective schools and told him all about their wondrous experiences and Archie couldn't wait to make some of his own. He'd been waiting for this his entire life, he was the last one in the family to be sorted, the baby who always got teased. I'll show them soon enough, show all of them he thought to himself, clenching his jaw. He would be superior to his siblings so they couldn't bully him any more. He was on his own now and he strangely liked it, he liked the independence, the potential at this school.

Impatient, Archie sighed and pulled on his robes and smoothed them down. "Only the best for my son" he remembered his father saying when they went shopping for his school supplies. Archie looked around and judged everyone around him, his robes were far better than those here he remarked to himself. He made a mental note to send word back home he was sure his parents would be proud of him representing the family here.

"Villiers, Archibald!" the Sorting Hat yelled. Archie straightened up and walked to the front of the splendidly decorated hall. It was ostentatious but impressive, mother would love it here he thought and decided he would send a drawing back home to her.

He took a deep breath and sat on the stool and awaited the hat's verdict. .

It was evening by the time they reached the castle. They, of course, were the unsorted students, and somewhere amongst the teaming herd, Reuben Lagowski could practically taste his excitement. The backs of his palms had been sweating since the moment the Hogwarts Express had started to lose speed, and trotting by his right, Rudolf seemed to be faring no better. In way of brotherly reassurance, Reuben lent his twin a mischievous grin and a sharp elbow between the ribs. Neither of them had said very much since getting off the train. There were hushed whispers and pointed fingers, but for the most part they seemed to be directed at the Potters. Reuben couldn't have more heartily enthused. Hogwarts! The Potters! Could anything falter his delight?

Yes, it could.

Forget butterflies - Reuben felt as if he'd swallowed an entire bird. It wriggled and flapped in his stomach, serving as a horrible reminder of what was about to come. Sorting. If he'd assumed correctly, his name would be called first, shortly followed by Rudolf's. What would happen if they weren't placed in the same house? He shuddered at the thought, and then quickly pushed it to the back of his mind before he lost his nerve entirely. Getting scared would not do! Puffing out his chest, Reuben followed the crowd through the grand oaken doors and into the stone foyer.

He'd been so deep in thought that he'd barely stopped to appreciate the castle's grandeur until he was right in the heart of it, but when he did, it hit him like a broom handle (and unfortunately, he knew what that felt like). It was breath taking. It was brilliant. It was... filled with adventure! Reuben knew adventure when he saw it, and this place was a treasure chest stuffed to the lid with diamonds and rubies of fun. There was no time to share his excitement, though, for no sooner had they arrived than a professor was ushering them down the great hall. Flanked by tables and floating candles, the group hurried across the stone and gathered near the staff tables at the far end. Then, one by one, they were called up for sorting.

It wasn't long before Reuben's turn. His fears for the moment forgotten, he climbed up onto the stool, clutching the edges feverishly and looking out across the sea of faces. His cousin was probably there somewhere, but in his euphoria he'd forgotten what house she was in. Thoughts trickled into his mind, despite his best efforts to quell them. Don't put me in Slytherin. I'm not bad. Well, not really bad!

"You? A Slytherin? Don't worry. You have nothing to worry about there. You're a...Hufflepuff!"

"Ow! That hurt, you little..." Rudolf stopped, narrowly avoiding his first detention, and took to rubbing his sore ribs in a peeved silence. That little sod. Eight minutes! Eight minutes older and half an inch taller, and apparently that warranted this torrent of never-ending abuse. Rudolf grinned. He supposed they were even now; although, he hastened to admit, his last prank had been so spectacular that he reckoned he'd probably need a few more elbows to the ribcage before his twin truly made up for it.

If Reuben wouldn't have called him a girl, Rudolf could have skipped up the stairs to the castle. This place was amazing. No length a tale could have possibly captured its grandiosity, and he'd certainly heard a long few from his Father. There were turrets and bridges and towers and lawns - and that was just the outside! The awe began all over again once they stepped through the doors. There was so much to look at that he barely dared blink for fear he'd miss something. Ghosts passed eerily through thick stone walls. Torches cast spheres of light across corridors that stretched to the left and right as far as the eye could see. At one point, Rudolf was convinced he'd even seen a suitcase wheeling itself.

Led by a professor, the conglomerate of students was quickly bustled into the great hall, where Rudolf's eyes arced across the ceiling in disbelief. There would be plenty of time to gape later, though. At the foot of the room the group suddenly stopped walking, and Rudolf bumped absent-mindedly into the boy in front. Then they were called up. Beauregard, Greenleaf, Hayes... Slowly but surely, students took their turn to become Gryffindors, Slytherins, Hufflepuffs and Ravenclaws.

"Lagowski, Rudolf!"

Unglueing his feet from the floor, Rudolf made his way up to the stool and sat down. Can I go with my brother? thought Rudolf as the hat was lowered upon his mousy curls. He's pretty annoying, but we're good friends, you know?
