The Sorting Ceremony 2029

If only the ground would eat him alive. Pip desperately tried to hid behind a taller boy as the line shuffled into the massive hall, a lump riding high in his throat. He could feel his palms growing clammy and his face turning a bright red as hundreds of students turned to stare at him. No one else. Him. He could feel their gazes piercing his face and torso, scrutinising every inch of him. He tripped on the hem of his oversized robes (big for growing space, his mother told him), almost sending the line tumbling like dominoes and earning himself a hostile glare from the lad in front who, quite frankly, looked as though he'd just stepped out of a boxing ring, with a big, thickset torso and puglike face.

Pip quickly lowered his gaze to the ground, shoving his hands into the pockets of his robes as he fiddled with the fabric. Unlike the goliath in front, he was a skinny, short thing with a small, pinched and pale looking face. His feet were just a little too big, just like his ears poking out from his brown hair, and his mother had insisted on giving him a bowl cut rather than paying for a barber and it made him almost look like one of those medieval monks, minus the bald patch. At least the fringe covered his grey eyes, so they couldn't see his fear, Pip thought, mind flashing back to reruns of David Attenborough and predator prey relations. If this was a herd of wildebeast and the older students were predators, he was the spindly baby wildebeast with a big sign over his head flashing 'eat me!'.

Pip shook his head, forcing himself to focus on the floor and suppress the pounding of his heart. It was no good. His heart refused to obey him and instead jumped up into his throat when to his horror he realised they were calling out names. What for? He'd been too busy thinking about not thinking about the eyes to pay attention to the instructions. But he didn't want to poke out his head and see. "Downing, Phillip" Oh blast alphabetical order. And blast them for using his full name. Pip could feel his body shaking as he forced himself out of the line and half walked, half ran towards the front of the hall. As he moved, he could hear people muttering and he was never as relieved as when he sat down on the indicated stool and his sight was stolen from him by a large, old, slightly smelly (but not unpleasantly so) hat. It covered his eyes and most of his face, so he couldn't see the crowd anymore, though what it was supposed to prove, he didn't know. What if it was some kind of test that he was going to fail because he didn't listen to the instructions properly? What would his mother say? Well, she'd be disappointed at any rate, whether he'd passed or failed. What would his Uncle say? Pip felt his stomach curl. Please don't let me fail this test! he begged the hat, as if somehow it would drop all the answers into his head and he'd suddenly know what to do. It was a hat. It couldn't help!

"This isn't a test. Couldn't possibly be a test. Everybody just goes where they belong. You, for instance, belong in HUFFLEPUFF! - Does that mean you passed?"

When her name was called, she stand up she felt everyone whispering around her. She thought"This is not good." Then she walked up infront. All the students look at her. She trembly holds the book she was reading. Then someone shouted " Hey! Time was running up!" Then Trucy quickly pick up the sorting hat and put it in her head. She said " I would love to be Ravenclaw. Then Trucy hit something in her head. Maybe I can't be one of the Great Ravenclaw. It's the sorting hat choice. But then another imagination told her. Her grandmother was waiting patiently for her after school. When she imagined that, she felt okay.

"As you wish. RAVENCLAW!"

It is Aqua's 1st time in Hogwarts. He don't even know anyone at the campus. Now,it is his turn to be sorted,Since he is sitting at the far corner,he have to walk a long way. While walking,he is feeling his breath and heart beat pounding high and fast,he was wondering where he will be sorted..He glared to some students, new and old..Then he thought of what future to have in Hogwarts for the next seven years. Then he reached the Sorting Hat already, nervous and excited for everything that will happen at the future and where to be sorted.....

"I see you'd like to be a Ravenclaw. Well yes, you have a bright mind - but I think you'll find yourself much more at home in HUFFLEPUFF!"

OOCOut of Character:
As a reminder, characters are 11 when they are sorted (not 12). :)

Hariah walked into the hall with the rest of the soon to be students. She was aware that thousands of eyes were staring at her. She felt this was her time to shine, to be the centre of attention for once, and she liked it. She remembered what her dad told her about his time at Hogwarts and she couldn't wait to make her own memories. She watched as countless students walked up to the stool and got sorted into a house. Hariah didn't really care what house she got into, she was just happy to be there. After what seemed hours finally her name got called out and she walked over the stool and sat down. She waited patiently as the hat was placed on her head for it's decision.

"You'll get the most out of GRYFFINDOR!"

Jazzella was excited and slightly nervous at the same time. She was going to Hogwarts finally. She had been waiting for this day since her brother, Ryan started there. She was thrilled to be able to come to the school she had always dreamed of attending. She had been blown away by the breath taking view of the castle that they had gotten as they crossed the lake in the little boats. Jazzella wondered how they would sort them as her brothers had refused to tell her. She hoped it wouldn’t be too hard but she would face whatever it was with pride and bravery.

She was deep in thought when the professor came to get them and had been elbowed in the ribs by a fellow student who told her to pay attention. She listened after that not really wanting to be elbowed again. The professor had explained that once sorted into their house that their house would be like their family and the house point system. Eventually it was time to enter the hall in an orderly fashion. She was in awe of how beautiful the hall was. She looked around the hall and spotted her brother, Ryan sitting amongst his friends at what was the Ravenclaw table she assumed. She waved at him when he looked over her way and got a small wave back. Jazzella knew she would probably not be joining her brother in Ravenclaw. Before she could go into a deep analyse of where she would be sorted to, she heard her name called. As she sat down on the stool, she thought that she wanted to be a Gryffindor. She then put the sorting hat upon her head.

"No, you're not joining your brother. You're entirely differently. Like you want, you're a GRYFFINDOR!"

Lya stands with the students, listening to their random conversions. They are siked and wishing for certain houses to place them in. Lya rolled her eyes at how much these kids thought being in a certain house would wreck them forever. No one is truly pure evil, nor is anyone truly good. So imaginably, any house would have good kids in them. Lya just wanted a home. Friends. Somewhere she didn 't have to hide. A place where she could train to be better, stronger. To make her more knowlegable, smarter. The doors opened, and Lya stood in awe. It was beautiful. All the small bodies stumbled into the hall. So much noise. Light. A stool with an old brown hat, sat, waiting... Hell this is where the fun begins, Lya thought. She grinned a half smile. The annoucements were made and the list started. Lya waited. Finally, just finally, her name was called. Everyones voices shushed. Her leather black boots, echoed across the floor. She strode up and sat on the stool. The hats warmth was felt through her caramel hair as the hat began to speak to her. This is it, she thought, the adventure begins.

"RAVENCLAW!"

Finally, the day has come for Zxianne to be sorted. She was waiting for this day to come her whole life. and when she entered the great hall she was filled with awe to finally be in the place she was dreaming since she was a child she promised that she'll be a good, hard working and determined in Hogwarts. Then because of her nervousness she accidentally tumbled down, some laughed but there some who is ready to help, she said to herself "its not so bad after all".

Then the Professor said "let the sorting begun".She's so excited about where the house she's going to be in but then again its not her decisions. And finally the Professor called her name "Feirce, Zxianne Dwaynne, murmurs filled the great hall but Zxianne fearlessly made her way up front and the Professor lowered the hat above her head she closed her eyes and told herself "let's bring it on".

"You could do well in Slytherin or Ravenclaw... Hmmm. You'd prefer Ravenclaw, it seems. Alright. RAVENCLAW!"

Peter, despite having grown a bit over the past summer, was still quite small by some people's standards, or so he figured as he stood in a big group of people who were all gathered together, waiting for that one moment that most kids his age couldn't wait for; to be sorted. Peter had been looking forward to this moment all summer, ever since he had gotten his letter of acceptance from Hogwarts New Zealand. His parents had proudly taken him shopping for all new supplies, books, uniform, a new pet owl and most importantly a wand. Of course Peter would have wanted his own new broom but he had to come to terms that he'd have to wait a few months before he could get his own broom but he knew that when the time came he would get the best broom that money could buy, all because he knew his parents wouldn't mind any expense for their first child to attend school, he could still see the tears on his mothers face and the pride on his fathers...and of course the confusion on Charlette's as she was told to say goodbye to her big brother, he laughed to himself as he thought of his little sister, it was weird but he was going to miss her.

All thoughts of his family back at home went out of his head as he heard a voice in front of him giving some instructions and then before his eyes he saw the large oak doors open to show the inside of the Great Hall, as he walked into the Hall he realised just how much smaller it made him feel. Looking up, down and all around Peter walked on his tip-toes for a bit to look at all of the house tables, the enchanted roof, the Professor's table, it was all just so, with lack of a better word, magical. He listened to all the old people talk, not really paying much attention as he was too interested in everything else around him. Only until he heard the first person being called out for sorting did he start to pay attention. He had been wondering about what house he would be sorted into, he knew his parents would be proud of him regardless as neither had a house of prefence, both having attended different schools, but he knew only time would tell. It wasn't long until that time was up.

"Lurken, Peter!"

This was it. He made his way up to the podium and took a seat, soon after feeling the Sorting Hat being sat on his head. He looked down at all of the house tables, wondering which one he would be placed at in a matter of moments. Oh! Hi ther! he said to himself, knowing from past stories that he Sorting Hat can read your minds, so why not make some sort of conversation?

"Hello there. We don't have time to talk. You'll hardly know me at all, and I already know you enough. GRYFFINDOR!"

Megumi crowded in with the other first years as they were led into the hall. This was it, his first day of school, and he couldn't be more excited. The young boy was pretty much bouncing in place waiting for his turn to be sorted. No one should remember Arisa or my mum anymore... he thought looking up to the teachers. His family had never been the most discrete with their problems, but this was finally his chance to get away from all that. Today was the start of his new life. He had insisted on coming to Hogwarts New Zealand and not going to Salem. All the drama his sister had caused there was just dying down. Come on.... call my name already. he thought waiting all the other boys and girls being called up one by one. Finally Havishmen, Megumi was called up. Ugh I hate that name. Megumi thought as he sat down on the stool. Maybe I'll come up with another one... Oh yeah, hi mister hat! The boy was trying to be nice, hoping the hat would but him in the right house. Where do I belong? he asked.

"You belong in SLYTHERIN!"

Your black hair is plastered against you pale face. The rain was intense, the boat ride was rocky and you swear you almost fell out once, but you don't gloat. A professor with a tight bun walks in the room with her heels clicking, click. Click. Click. Just by first glance you can tell she is a very experienced witch, but you look deeper at her, something about her is cat-like. She her articulate voice carries over the first years chatter, "Hello new students, I am Professor McGonagall, the transfiguration teacher and the deputy headmistress. In a few moments, you will enter through these doors," she motions swiftly to the doors with intricate gold vines, "In there, you will meet your fellow classmates and be sorted into your houses. There are Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, Gryffindor and Slytherin. After everyone is sorted, we will have our beginning of the term feast, now, we may enter."
More clicks and chatter, we enter the room, the new students quiet, but the older students are talking over the golden plates perfectly set ajar of them. Symmetry. Then you look up the ceiling isn't a ceiling, it's a sky, the sky that was the same when you were billowing over the waves in the lake. It was dark blue with specks of stars and wispy clouds. Professor McGonagall made her way to the front of the large room. She spoke once more, much louder than the first time, "I will call your name then you will come up and you will be sorted. Lawliet, L." Slowly, you go up to the stool, the a battered hat was placed lightly on your head, it spoke raspy and low, "Oh yes, this one is very easy...."

"RAVENCLAW!"

OOCOut of Character: Reminders
Remember that roleplaying on HNZ is in the third person, past tense. So using 'he' and 'she' instead of 'I' and 'you' and 'his'/'her' instead of 'my' or 'your'. Additionally, in place of "enter
Also remember that this is Hogwarts in New Zealand set in the year 2029 - professor McGonagall is not placing the sorting hat on anybody's heads.

Cosmo slowly approached the sorting hat after he heard his name called to be sorted. He gave the other waiting students an anxious smirk as he hopped up on the sorting stool. He scrunched up his face as the giant hat was placed on his head and awaited the verdict...

"Indubitably a SLYTHERIN!"

<SIZE size="50">It had been a fairly snap decision. One morning she'd awoken with the sun glaring into her bedroom window and she'd decided she wanted the seasons. Now this had only been her first thought. This thought was promptly followed by two others. One there was no way she was going somewhere too cold and two, she had school to think about. It therefore occurred to her that she could just go to Hogwarts. That either Hogwarts would be a good place to go. Not only would she get the best education that could be had but also that she would be able to get the seasons, and get a place to call a home away from home. And there the girl found herself. Knowing that she was pretty much their alone. She didn't know if her cousin had been accepted as a transfer and much less which house he was going to be in. But, her second cousin was not on the front of her mind. It was more the fact that she was standing with her classmates waiting to be sorted. That was the important factor, that was the thing to remember. That she was there for herself, no one else. Never for anyone else. And this was why she stood waiting. It wasn't every day that a girl got sorted into a house. Of course she knew that it would be hard, she wasn't exactly used to having to go into school each day for the entire day. Her muggle education as well as magical had all been taught at home by her father when he was not at work. A system that didn't bother her, but she'd grown bored of. Not to mention the girl was desperate to start a new trend in her family where they sent their kids to Hogwarts. There was her sister, and she was nine so had time, and then two others that were younger. So maybe it wasn't too manageable, but time would tell. After all, one of her cousins already had a two year old son, so it was only a few years before she could persuade him of the wonders of New Zealand. Boyce was standing at the very front of the crowd, so when the doors opened the first thing she noticed was how many people there were but that they were meant to walk forward.

Boyce Hadler knew fine well what being sorted included. She was still however feeling pretty nervous about it. and didn't really want to have to do it in front of so many. But she did, and she would. It would just be the much easier task. It would work, and she'd be pleased with where she'd be sorted. All she had to do now, was actually wait for that moment to happen. But first was the speech by the headmaster, and the hat singing. She thought it was pretty funny when he did that, so when it finished, she applauded loudly and wondered if the hat just worked all year to come up with the song for the start of term. In any case, The girl found she was perfectly okay with not knowing the answer to that. However as the names started getting called, Boyce knew that she'd be soon. With a second name somewhat in the middle. She just knew however that when her name was spoken, Boyce that people would expect a boy to walk forward, but no. Sighing slightly at the thought she heard the one thing she'd been waiting for.

"Hadler, Boyce"

It was a surprise to her and she quickly stepped forward, fumbling slightly before regaining composure. She smiled as she took a seat on the stool and waited. This was the longest few seconds of her life. But she managed to keep herself calm and keep herself looking forward and waiting. Then the hat was placed on her hand, and she knew it was just a matter of time. She was both truly excited and nervous. And at the same time, very pleased that she was finally at the school.

"You're the type for HUFFLEPUFF!"

When Edward was standing in the Great Hall, his name was finally called. He don't feel nervous as he walked through the Sorting Hat. While he was walking, he looked to the other side. He saw his twin sister was smilling at him with her thumbs up on the Ravenclaw Table. He smiled back as a sign of "Thank you." He continued walking until he reached the sorting hat. He sat down and someone put the Sorting Hat on his head.

"GRYFFINDOR!"

If there was one thing Everleigh Hanson craved it was change and only a few months ago she had been granted this by being accepted into Hogwarts New Zealand as well as Beauxbatons. While the girl wished she could have gone to Beauxbatons to not deal with the stress of sorting and whether her parents would dislike that she was in one house over another she had not gotten the acceptance letter to Beauxbatons until months later when she had already found herself enrolled in classes thanks to her mother's eagerness to start her "true education". Despite her very slight displeasure with the fact that she would not be attending Beauxbatons she was still excited to start at an academy rather than stay at home and continue on with the monotonous routine her family had and that she was expected to, and did, keep up. But this excitement was put on hold when the brunette stepped into her uniform and pulled on a black cloak before making her way to the train station as the realization hit her that there would be more disappointment than she could handle should she not be sorted into Slytherin. Through this anxiety she managed to keep up the appearance her family demanded of her and when it was time to say goodbye she did so similarly. In the Hanson family there was little touching so Everleigh was only given a nod and ensured that she would be sent galleons and care packages at the most bi-weekly. For the train ride she sat in one of the empty compartments mulling over how she would go about explaining to her parents if she was not placed in the house of her choice but quickly tired and fell asleep only to be woken from the screech of wheels and a lurch that made her stomach meet her throat.

Eve followed the rest of the first years, who she could tell were so by the awe in their faces, and looked primarily at her feet the whole way through until she was led into the school itself when something caught her eye and led her gaze up to the enchanted ceiling which she smiled at. It reminded her of home for her father had paid someone to cast a similar charm (why he hadn't done it himself still was lost on the little girl) but her smile soon turned into a frown, then a grimace and then finally a look of pure nausea.

"Hanson, Everleigh."

Everleigh pushed her way through the crowd of first years and sat atop the stool, waiting for the Sorting Hat to be placed upon her shiny, brown locks. When it was she immediately began thinking, 'Please put me in Slytherin! I'll do anything. I'll even find you another piece of clothing to be friends with! Please, please, pleeeease!' She smiled anxiously and fiddled with her fingers for the final verdict on the topic, cringing when she heard the hat's first word spoken to her.

"Sorry, but this is about you - not your parents, and you're not a Slytherin. You'll hate me for this, but perhaps be thankful when you find yourself more in love with Hogwarts than you ever would have been over at 'Beautiful Wands'. You'll have a great time, and your parents will have to get used to this. You're a HUFFLEPUFF!"

Randy was feeling a bit anxious because he was not used to the crowds with his disorder. He knew he had a pretty good hold on his disorder now and knew most of his limits but there were always the unknowns that he may not handle well. He knew his parents had had their reservations on letting him go to the school because of that. Randy looked around the other first years and felt even more anxious there was so many of them and it was all going too fast for the boy to comprehend what was going on. The last few weeks were full of surprises for the boy from a small country town called Maungaturoto. From finding out he was a wizard and getting his supplies to now it had been an adventure.

He sighed before following the others as they were led into the great hall. He looked around in awe as he took in everything in the room in, it was stunning that was for sure. He was nervous at the moment but he was determined not to humiliate himself. He listened as the professor who had led them into the hall explained what was going to happen and listened to the hat's song. He listened carefully until he heard, "Bourne, Randy" called out. He hastily made his way to the front and sat on the stool as the hat was placed on his head. All he had to do now was wait for the hat to decide where to place him.

"SLYTHERIN!"

Madelaine entered the Great Hall along with the other first year students, it was buzzing with conversation and excitement, the older students seated around the four long house tables, not one of them appeared to notice that they had been joined by the newbies, until silenced by the headmaster. That was when all heads turned towards them, as they were brought to a halt in front of a three legged stool, the ancient sorting hat sat upon it. It was announced that in a few moments, they would be sorted. Madelaine couldn't help but feel slightly agitated, you could almost smell the worry of the first years fill the room, they must look like one large bag of nerves to the onlookers. Looking at the faces around her she sighed, annoyed. What was their to be worried about? They were about to be sorted, this was a great, memorable moment, to be welcomed and treasured, not feared from! This is when they would find out who they truly where, it would separate the bright from the dim, the cunning from the courageous. Or something like that.
Names began to be called, and knowing she would be pretty far down the list, second name beginning with a P, Madelaine pushed her way to the front regardless. Watching as one by one, students made there way up to the stool to have there fate determined. Some strode up confidently, others stumbled nervously and chewed on their lips. Very un-dignified she thought.
After what seemed like months, "Park, Madelaine" rang throughout the hall and she rolled her eyes. Must everyone mis-pronounce her first name, it really wasn't that hard. Had she been anywhere else at any other time, she would not have responded, but given the situation she smoothed down her skirt and sat herself down on the stool, folding one leg over the other. Looking out at the sea of students before her, Madelaine smiled and felt the hat be placed on top of her head. She hadn't really given much thought as to what house she wished to be given, her father had been a Ravenclaw, her mother a Slytherin. She couldn't see herself as a Gryffindor or a Hufflepuff, and didn't think she would fit in with either of those houses, but that wasn't for her to say, was it. So, you can read my mind can you.. Madelaine thought, she couldn't help but feel a little exposed. Smart hat, aren't ya! she stated jokingly. Well, where do I belong then? she asked, impatient as always.

"Another one for SLYTHERIN."

Markus walked into the great hall, stunned. The magic has just barely begun and he always was in love with it. He could perform a couple spells, but knowing what he will learn, just amazed him. It is amazing how cool it was. He had a suitcase almost packed with his books, and he realized he wouldn't be reading as much as he used to. Walking, almost turning into a sprint, he went down. It wouldn't be long till his name was called. Suddenly he realized they were already on R names. Soon, very soon. S. Just a little bit.... "Taylor, Markus." The professor yelled. His heart almost stopped. Oh god. Markus thought. Here we go....

"Ravenclaw or Slytherin. Hmmm. I'll defer to you on this one, but I hope you're not too terribly wrong. RAVENCLAW!"

Dress in her school robes and uniform, Arabella is ready to go and be sorted, her parents was also an alumni from Hogwarts and both are in a different house. Debby, her mother, is from Gryffindor while David, her father, is from Slytherin. She on the other doesn't know what house she wanted to be on but her Grandmother told her to be a Slytherin and not some ravish houses that doesn't portrait sly and cunning. Once the two big oak doors of the the said hall opened, she and the rest of the group went in in two straight lines. The ceiling was incredible, the furnishing was great and lastly, the marble floors was shiny. Arabella smiled to herself and went on, the group stopped in a halt as they made in front of the podium. The handsome man started to call last names starting from A and then the B's which her last name starts with a B. "Branka, Arabella." Once her name was called, she walked gracefully into the podium and sat at the tall stool facing the other people in the hall. The man placed the old warlock's hat on her and it started to talk, to be honest, she was amazed by the hat and how the way it talked, The only thing i want for you to do is sort me into the right house and be done with it. Talking with the hat makes her like a coo-coo but it was a technique that her parents told her, and least to forget is to be kind at the hat, it was the one who decides everything but she was convince that people make their own fate. Once she was done convincing the hat, she waited for the hat's verdict.

"If that's your idea of being kind to the hat, I do fear for if you ever decided to be rude to me. You could learn a few lessons in the niceties of life. Fortunately for you, pleasant conversations abound where you're going. Your goal is to find some friends here - and there isn't a much friendlier place than HUFFLEPUFF!"

Napoleon had arrived. He looked in awe at the Great Hall, staring at the awesome sky as he and his peers walked towards the Sorting Hat. He had heard many things about this hat, how it could read all your thoughts, hear all your deepest desires and from that, decide which house that particular child should join. Apparently he's never been wrong in the gazillion years that hat has been around and that alone was very impressive but didn't appeal to Napoleon. He didn't like the idea of his thoughts being intruded by a hat and wanted to get the whole process over and done with so he can be sorted and start to make some new friends.

"Hawke, Napoleon."

Once his name was called he stepped forward, accepting the ancient hat (which if I don't say myself is in remarkable condition) onto his head. "Okay Mr Sorting Hat, or are you a Miss? Or a Mrs. perhaps." Napoleon's eyes drifted upwards to see if he could spot any sort of indication as to the hats gender, but then he reminded himself that it was a hat and probably wasn't going to have one. "Sorry, yes, please continue Gender-neutral Sorting Hat."

"Gryffindor."

OOCOut of Character:
As a note, you needn't do the analysis of where your character should be in the sorting form. You should just fill out the form as accurately as you can for your character.

Once Cassandra Parkinson entered the Great Hall for the first time, she gasped in excitement and started looking around. This was so much better then what she imagined. Her parents and her sister told her a lot about the castle, but now she realized they could never actually describe all the grandness of Hogwarts. Audry, a girl she met on the train was standing now next to her, staring at awe at the indeed Great Hall. Cassie could tell she was nervous, so she decided to try and calm her down: "Audry? Relax. It's not that bad, really," she said.
"I know, I know, I just..." she took a shattering breath. "Hey, I told you on the train - it's no big deal. All you have to do is just put on a hat and wait for it to shout you House. That's it," Cassie smiled. Audry gave her a worried look, but the she smiled and nodded, "Okay. Yeah, you're right, it's... no big deal."
Finally, the Hall fell silent. Cassie and Audrey snapped their heads up to see Professor McGonagall standing with a roll of parchment next to a small stool with an old hat placed upon it. She started calling out different names of first-year student. Some of the names Cassie recognized - surnames like Black, Malfoy, Zabini, Weasley, Potter... Other surnames weren't familiar to her - most likely muggleborn kids.
Finally, the Professor called out her name. "Parkinson, Cassandra."
Cassie took a deep breath, and after giving a brief smile to Audry who was still waiting for her turn, walked over to the stool. She sat on the small chair, and Professor McGonagall placed the hat on her head. Suddenly, Cassie heard a voice in her head. "Hmm... another Parkinson, huh?" said the Sorting Hat.

"SLYTHERIN!"

OOCOut of Character:
You cannot have a character be related to canon characters. Your character is in no way related to Pansy Parkinson.
Additionally, this is Hogwarts New Zealand set in the year 2029 currently. Professor McGonagall does not teach 'here'.

Isabella stood in line with all the other about to be first years. She couldn't help but be a bit nervous standing in her robes surrounded by a lot of people that she didn't know. Granted before school had started she had meet a few friends, but that still only slightly comforted her nerves. Looking around she saw the four large tables filled with students from every house. It made her think about which one she would soon be joining. Isabella wanted deeply to be in Ravenclaw she knew her brother had been in this house and she felt a certain pull to it, and she knew she would be devastated if she didn't get it. 'But that's not my decision, it's the hat's.' She thought to herself. Her brother Tony had told her all about the magic hat that "sorted" the children into the different houses at Hogwarts. Peeping out of line a bit Bella could see a stool with what appeared to be a very old, brown hat perched atop. It made her smile thinking that everyone sitting at those tables had gone through the same thing she was about to go through. She straitened back up in line when she heard the first few names being called and watched the kids walk off to there new houses for the seven years they would spend here. A few more kids were sorted a respective round of applause from the corresponding house erupting after each new addition. Just when Isabella wasn't expecting it she heard her name,

"Fedele, Isabella!"

Walking over to the stool Isabella's mind was racing what if some thing goes wrong what if they put me in Slytherin? She didn't feel herself as she sat zombie like on the stool and felt the hat fall on her head. It covered almost all the way to her eyes and she tried hard not to squirm as it moved a bit. Isabella felt as if in a blur, she couldn't regain her thoughts and her mind was a whirl-wind of what ifs. She knew the hat supposedly knew what was best for her but all she could think about was not getting Slytherin. Collecting her thoughts she looked about the mass of students in front of her all waiting to see what house she would get. It was almost a relief to know they were anticipating her outcome too. 'I just want to know.' Isabella hated not knowing things which probably lead to her love of learning, but it affected other things too like her longing to know her future and what lied ahead of her, but right at this second all she really wanted to know was what house this silly old hat was going to put her in.

"Nothing's wrong with Slytherin house. It's a great house named for a great wizard. You should know that if you're as interested in learning as I would suspect you are. Hmm. Well, you do have plenty to learn, and you may as well learn it in RAVENCLAW!"

Hermione was happy that she had at last entered the Great Hall. She walked with the other new students. When her name was called, she excitedly ran to the stool and sat down and put the hat on her head. She was hoping the hat would say she's in Hufflepuff.

"You would do splendidly in Ravenclaw. But, if you insist... HUFFLEPUFF!"

Elle was excited ever since she received her letter and was looking forward to be sorted. At last, the day came and it was her turn to be sorted. She was so glad to be in the Great Hall! She looked around and feel at home. Waiting patiently for her name, she was talking to her fellow students.

After a few minutes, hers was finally called. She almost tripped because of excitement that she ran on the way to the stool. She sat down and waited eagerly to be sorted.

"Undoubtedly a GRYFFINDOR!"

She was excited. Angie was fiddling with her hands as she waited in line. Seeing all the other kids in her year get sorted made her more excited. Her heart was beating harder than usual and it was harder for her to stay still. Her parents weren't very supportive of her being a witch. Though this disappointed her she couldn't bring herself to dislike her parents for it.
As she watched the other kids get sorted she got more nervous. What if she wasn't able to be place in one of the houses? What if the talking hat said something embarrassing about her?

"Vanderbilt, Angie!"

Angie speed walked to the stool and sat down. She closed her eyes as the hat was placed over her head. "Here it goes." she thought.

"I'm able to place everybody in a house. You're a HUFFLEPUFF!"

Benjamin Chase walked to the Great Hall with no interest at all with its features. There were numerous students that were surrounding him and the rest of the unsorted students, staring at them with no interest at all. He was having one of those boring moments of his life. To be honest, he was actually impatient with what is happening to him. He did not feel any nervousness in him, thank Merlin. The surrounding students looked absolutely worried and some were even biting their own nails. All he wanted, was to know the result of what house he will belong in. The main thing he wanted to jump into, was dinner. He was just so hungry since all he had for lunch was a small sandwich that did not even content him with its soft cheese and juicy ham. Ben felt his stomach silently growl with the imagination of all those juicy food that will be soon in front of him. Since his last name is, Chase, he will one of those first people who would be sorted, hopefully. He did not know if the man who brought them to the front will call them alphabetically. But since all he wanted to do was to eat, he just continued to imagine food. He wanted steak for dinner. Steak and gravy. Delightful, Ben thought with him not even knowing it. He was just mentally drooling over his imagination of food. But even though his mind was set on this kind of thing, his facial expression still remained blank. It was as if he was just looking at the Sorting Hat with absolutely no interest at all.

"Chase, Benjamin!" the man called out from the front and Ben stepped in front recklessly. The boy saw the old hat that will be put unto his head. He glanced it a disgusted look and begrudgingly sat on the stool, waiting for the old hat that was considered to be the legendary, "Sorting Hat" on him. Ben looked at the other students who were staring at him and cursed mentally. He just wanted to get this over with. Honestly. "Don't give me Hufflepuff. That's all I ask." Muttered the boy, only for the Sorting Hat to hear.

"A very fair request, and one I would be only too happy to oblige. You're a SLYTHERIN!"
