At the beginning of every year, someone always had to mention how small the first years were. Students and staff alike were guilty of this remark. Gabe rolled his eyes every time- what did they expect eleven-year-olds to look like? Nonetheless, when he found himself standing in front of Hogwarts New Zealand's newest students at the train station, the headmaster was taken aback by their height. He could've been gathering together a sea of goblins (or rather, part-goblins.)

After introducing himself, Gabe lead the masses away from the station, out of Brightstone, and across the lawn. The castle and grounds were quite a sight, even for old-timers like Gabe. He approached the stairs to the entrance hall and hollered for everyone to follow. He had to remind them out of necessity- it wasn't fun chasing down first years who felt like they had free reign of the school.

Before opening the doors, the headmaster turned to the group again. "When we enter the Great Hall, I will call each of you to the front by name. When your name is called, come forward and the Sorting Hat will decide which house you are to be placed in. Once the hat has made its decision, you will join your new housemates." Gabe grinned, adding, "You'll know who they are."

The doors swung ajar with a wave of his wand. He led the first years into the hall. Older students were waiting at their respective tables, no doubt famished after the train ride. Staff members watched from the front of the room. With his robes lapping at his ankles, Gabe walked to the stool, sweeping the Sorting Hat from its resting place. With a flick of the wrist, he'd conjured a list. He called out the first name and watched as the student moved forward. The Hall was saturated with excitement; one could practically swim in it.

OOCOut of Character: Important Information
As stated in the Information about Sorting thread, you must fill out the sorting form entirely properly and fill in an RP as exemplified in the post. If your RP does not leave room for the sorting hat to sort you: you will not be sorted. If the sorting hat does notreceive your sorting form: you will not be sorted. Follow instructions and: you will be sorted.

You can edit your post once you are sorted, but be sure that you only reply to this topic once and it is through the sorting form provided. Thank you.

There’s nothing hidden in your head

The Sorting Hat can’t see,

So try me on and I will tell you

Where you ought to be...

...put me on! Don’t be afraid!

And don’t get in a flap!

You’re in safe hands (though I have none)

For I’m a Thinking Cap![note]Source: Pottermore[note]

Indeed, another one of Kalif's children were attending the school of Hogwarts New Zealand. Kailie was a different matter, and the second daughter to come here. Kailie's blue eyes went from student to student, wondering on who would be her housemates and who would be her rivals. She looked down at her nails before she stepped forward with her robes all around her. She wondered where she would go to. No doubt it better not be some house that was worthless. However all of them, as her father told her, were great in their own way. Kaleb was a Slytherin, her father was, and her mother... Kailie did not even know. Kailie knew Nicolette was a Slytherin. Chances are, she could go down that route too. She would not mind. As long as she would not be surrounded by complete idiots. Kailie looked forward once more, trying to find her dad before she cast him a subtle smile, and turned her eyes back to the man holding the hat that would soon place her. It was nothing too shabby, but it was ancient magic. That magic was to be well respected.

Stepping up, Kailie heard her name called and she walked in front of the others. She was not the last, but she was one of the last. She sat down on the stool and immediately she felt the hat on her head. She flinched under the touch at first, but being as calm as she was, she closed her blue eyes. The hat could probably see every thought in her mind, and she had nothing to hide. She just hoped, that wherever she went, she would be left alone unless she wanted to socialize. That would be rare enough. Kailie let out a small sigh. She patiently awaited for the judgement of the hat.

"Yes, that route is most certainly for you too. SLYTHERIN!"

<COLOR color="black">Isabella carried her small frame passed the large body of older students. Her light blue eyes eyed them like a hawk would it's prey before she smirked and looked forward once again. This was her time. All her siblings were more than half her age and they had all gone through this process before. It was her time to shine and show them all. Her siblings all tried to make a guess at what house she would be in. But none of them could really agree on one house. There was always one of them that had to be different and argue about her being better suited somewhere else. Isabella didn't care where she was sorted really. So long as the house was where she belonged and the kids were easy enough for her to get her way with. That was all that mattered to Isabella. As long as she got her way. Some people called it selfishness. Isabella just called it ambition and the desire to be the best. After after no friends and being spoiled like she was, Isabella was used to getting her way too. Emerald warned that when she got to school throwing a tantrum or doing things like she did wasn't going to get her far when she didn't get her way like she wanted to. 'We'll just have to see about that.' Isabella thought to herself with a prideful smirk. She was confident in her abilities. She didn't think it was fair for her sister to judge her when she had no idea how much Isabella got away with to begin with. The crowd of students came to a halt and Isabella peered around a few taller kids to try and see what was happening. Curse these really short legs of hers! Almost half tempted to push someone out of the way so she could see, she jumped when she heard something speak. Oh it was the hat. Isabella remembered hearing all about the Sorting Hat. A name was called and it wasn't hers so she remained standing with the other children and watched. That hat was almost a little creepy with how it could see into a person's personality deep down. Bella decided that she wished she could do that. It would be so much easier to do things if she knew what people were really like. More and more kids were called to be sorted, it was kind of nerve-racking to watch and not be yet called. Isabella turned her head and accidentally found herself staring at a boy that was next to her. After a moment she snorted and turned her head away.

The big moment finally came and Isabella heard her name being called. "Isabella Pisces!" Isabella glanced around when she heard her name then sighed and headed up. Her eyes remained focused on the hat. As if it were almost a prize that she wanted to win. Her petite form sat on the stool and she felt the hat placed upon her head. Isabella remembered that Callisto told her to be respectful to the hat, because it knew a lot. To put in blunt Isabella wasn't even sure what to say or do with the hat upon her head except remain still and hope that it didn't bite or yell at her. Yes she liked getting her way but she didn't like being yelled at. Holding her breath she tried to remain as still as possible as the hat made it's decision.

"Your drive to be the best is undoubtedly SLYTHERIN!"

Ariel Blade walked throw the hallowed halls of the Hogwarts New Zealand Great Hall, behind its Headmaster; Gabriel Lloyd. Ariel was excited to be here, and she couldn’t wait to see what house she would be getting sorted into. This was something that she had been looking forward to, and wanted to happen for a good part of the last lot of months. Ariel wanted to learn at this school, she wanted to be able to make friends, and she wanted to be able to stay in contact with the boy she had met before today. Aiden was his name, and even though they had started off as rocky as could be, Ariel had warmed up to him and now they were friends. As she spotted him in the crowd, she smiled and took her place amongst the first years. Ariel watched as a few of them began to get sorted before her, but as her name began with a ‘B’, she wasn’t waiting very long.

“Blade, Ariel.”

She walked up and sat on the stool, watching as everyone’s eyes turned onto her and everything turned to black as the sorting hat was placed on her head. She had heard that the hat could hear your thoughts once it was on your head, she realised it was time to see if this was true. So Mr. Hat, can you please place me in Gryffindor? Ariel thought, smiling from underneath the hat. This would be the decision that changed her life, and decided how her life at Hogwarts would play out, and she didn’t even get to make it.

"I could, yes. But I fear that would neither fulfill my obligation to you or to this school. You're a HUFFLEPUFF!"

Going to this school was everything that Sergios Romanes had dreamed. And it was a way to get away from others. Living with his uncle and Krystin was utter Hell. He missed his parents, and now he could get away. He wondered what house he would be, but to think, his siblings that were in school were in every other house but Gryffindor. He didn't care, as long as he made lots of new friends and had a lot of fun. That was the most important thing that was running through his mind right now. His dark eyes wondered the Great Hall in awe of its pure majestic design. Already he loved this school, but not much can be said for some of the students. They were like a motley crew, he could see them all and it was eerie. Some of them looked mean, some looks grumpy and others just looked creepy. Others seemed bored and finally, the last group seemed happy to see the first years. Sergios put his hands into the pockets of his robes, and he stared ahead. However he felt some eyes looking at him before he shifted his eyes over to the shorter girl next to him. The moment she snorted, Sergios turned back to the front and he thought, 'What a brat.'

What seemed like forever until the 'R's' were called, Sergios jumped a bit when he heard his name. He walked toward the front and he placed the hat on his head and then sat down on the stool. He was excited, could one blame him? He was sitting patiently, but he looked around for his siblings. What house was he going to be? If he was going to be in a house one or any of his siblings, would he be able to have a tour around the house by them, and would he be closer to them? He did not know. All he could wait on now is the hat's decision, and Sergios looked down and wondered what was going to happen to him. Sergios looked down at his hands as he waited, with not a thought of impatience in his head. Last thing he wanted to see what a hat would do when ticked off.

"Might as well complete the set. You're a GRYFFINDOR!"

Everywhere those azure eyes darted boasted something new to behold. A bewitched ceiling, a flurry of cloaks, moving portraits at every corner. For the lack of a better word, it truly was magical. And magic was something Jay Bennet had known very little about, if anything at all, up until a few short years ago. The turning point was one that Jay liked to associate with him being "mature" enough to consider the consequences of the lifestyle he had yet to lead but deep down knew it was because of the addition of Fletcher into the tight-knit family. His adopted father expressed more interest in their world than either his mother or his Uncle Izaak ever had, he was a world renowned quidditch coach after all (which Jay thought was the absolute coolest). Of course, he didn't mind having been brought up without magic, none of his school friends were wizards, so it truly made no difference. But what he couldn't understand was why. Why would his mother throw away something so invaluable? Because as he glanced eagerly around at his cohort, Jay could pick no repulsive attributes and despite the fact that he was just scratching the surface, he didn't think he would find them if he dug down a mile.

A collective gasp from his fellow first years tugged Jay from his gaze's curious venture and the Australian boy whipped around to find the sorting hat, singing merrily away. An odd smile curled the corners of his lips, if this was any indication of what the next seven years of his life would form to be, then it certainly wasn't what the young boy had expected; in a good way, though. It was a relief to see the wizarding community didn't take themselves too seriously, unlike the high school his friends were preparing to head off to. As the sorting hat settled down into silence, the A's were called up to fit it upon their heads and Jay noticed their wide eyes, trembling limbs, shallow breaths. Some even got to whispering about Slytherin and how it was the "bad" house. The azure eyed boy shook his head, amused by their naivety. His uncle had been in Slytherin and there was not a mean bone in his body. His entire family in fact was a mix of the Hogwarts houses, his mother had been a Gryffindor and Fletcher a Hufflepuff. They had yet to have a Ravenclaw but Jay didn't think he would be the one to break that streak.

"Bennet, Jay."

Urging a hand through his sandy crop of hair, Jay approached the stool with a smile he was attempting to stifle but to no avail. The thought of being educated in the ways of magic was all too exciting for the boy. And as he settled down on the stool, and placed the witty old hat on his head, he embraced the fact that this was the very first step of many at Hogwarts New Zealand.

"No, you'll not be the first Ravenclaw. You're another HUFFLEPUFF!"

Nephrolepis entered the great hall, and was immediately stunned by it's sheer size. The ceiling was beautiful, and definitely created by some sort of spell. Open mouthed, she gawped at almost everything as she sat down next to her fellow unsorteds. She didn't really mind which house she was put in. Not so keen on Hufflepuff, where her sister ended up after she was transferred, or Ravenclaw, as she was certainly not smart, Nephy still didn't mind where she was put. She was going to Hogwarts, for goodness' sake! What more could she ask for? She waited patiently for her turn, peering over the shoulders of people and clapping where necessary, even though inside she wanted to yell. The suspense was killing her a little inside, though she didn't feel particularily nervous. Where ever she was placed would have a huge impact of how she behaved for the next seven years. A lot of adventure awaited, as did a fair amount of trouble. And she couldn't wait.

"Undersee, Nephrolepis!"

Nephrolepis nearly jumped out of her seat in enthusiasm as she hurried up to the stool at the front of the hall. With a sea of faces now staring at her, she kept her face blank and expressionless. After a few seconds, she couldn't help but smile. She wasn't a horrible person, and she certainly didn't want to come across as one. Not at all. But still, she didn't mind the idea of Slytherin. Ambitious minds, power-hungry personalities... She certainly wouldn't have minded. Please get it right, Mr. Sorting hat, she thought to herself, aware that it knew exactly what she was thinking. There was no point asking for a house. The hat would place her where was right.

"Your bravery in the face of adversity points you to GRYFFINDOR!"

As the doors to the great hall opened, Pixie momentarily scanned her surroundings. It looked as though most of the students had already arrived, and she sauntered over to the end of a table, arms folded as she sat down. Realizing she was frowning, she relaxed her eyebrows and looked at the students around her. She doubted she'd get along with many of them, though she couldn't wait to start getting their attention with a stupid joke or stunt which would make her unforgettable. She was planning things already. Smirking, she realized that students were now being called to the front one by one. Glad she had a surname which began with 'c', Pixie knew she wouldn't have to wait very long before she was called up. After a moment, her predictions were proved correct.
"Crocker, Pixie!"
Pixie stood up and walked purposely slowly towards the sorting hat, a slight smile on her face as she eventually reached the stool and sat down. At last, she thought as the hat was placed on her head. I've waited years to find out where I belong. So tell me, she demanded inwardly as she waited in mental agony to find out where she would go.

"I guess your dreams are about to come true. SLYTHERIN!"

"This is it, Mari," Mima whispered, looking around the Great Hall of Hogwarts calmly. "Yeah, I know, it's no big deal, but hey." She imagined Marielle rolling her eyes, and Mima rolled hers in return. Of course, Mima had always known she'd be going to a magical school. Which one was more of the question. The psychologist, Johannes, and her nanny, Stella, had both managed to convince her mother that Hogwarts New Zealand, just down the road from the manor, was a much better option for Mima than her uncle and aunt's desires for her to attend Durmstrang. After all, Mima was a sensitive eleven year old girl...who happened to have her stillborn twin as an invisible friend, and happened to have most of her other conversations with the ghost of Alice, her great-aunt. She probably needed to be close to home.
Of course, Mima wasn't as unhinged as she seemed. Why, she knew full well that Marielle wasn't real. She saw the girl as more of a spirit guide than an actual person, really. But her only interactions with kids her age was when her aunt and uncle invited other 'nice' families over - such as the Reinholds (where Mima was teased by Ariadne, but protected emotionlessly by Astrid) - or when her cousins were home from Durmstrang. And they didn't pay much mind to their girl-cousin, anyway.
So this was quite the experience for Mima - mostly due to the fact that she was surrounded by people. She'd never been allowed to meet people who weren't from "nice families", if she met people at all. Now, to be surrounded by a strange assortment of children her age, Mima felt almost at a loss. The only sensible thing to do, of course, was to keep well to herself. She'd decide if people were deemed worthy to associate with at a later date, she presumed. It depended on what house she was sorted into, first.
Lost in her own thoughts, Mima suddenly realised that the names were up to the R's, and the crowd around her had dwindled. "Alright, Mari. I wonder what house we'll get in to?"
"Scarlet, Mima."
Holding her head up high, Mima walked forward with ease. Her name, of course, meant nothing to the school, but one day, she intended to change that. People would both love and fear Mima Scarlet. And that included her own family.
Putting the hat on her head, Mima waited patiently. She had seven years. That was all the time in the world.

"Tricky. Very Tricky. I think you'll succeed most in HUFFLEPUFF!"

His heart raced with a fizzling burst of excitement. It crackled through his arms, his legs, circling his brain and giving off the odd dazzling spark, here and there, which only caused his heart to race faster. Duncan continued shuffling amongst the other would-be first years, catching the occasional snap of friendly banter. He was quick to make his own between himself and the boys he had met on the train. They walked in merriment through the aching wooden doors that breached the entrance to the enormous hall. Duncan hung back with a few of the other children, momentarily, his mouth agape as his eyes caught sight of the ceiling. He may have been from a wizarding background, but there were still many things he had never seen, and the towering ceiling that mirrored the sky outside, was one of them.

The group continued to move forwards, following the adult shepherding them. Duncan could feel the electric buzz of the atmosphere. It brimmed with magic in its purest form. It was a wonderful feeling, and Duncan doubted he would ever feel such a thing for a second time. But now, his mind turned to the challenge ahead. What did the sorting ceremony entail? He had, naturally, questioned his parents as to the nature of the ceremony the moment he had received his letter. "You'll be fine," his dad had answered unhelpfully, with his usual, devilish charm, "it did me no harm. Just watch out it doesn't eat your head." Duncan, with a sigh and a roll of his eyes at his father's behaviour, had turned to his mother for help. She had given him a warm smile, told him that she didn't want to "spoil the surprise", but added "don't listen to your father- what would he know about it all, anyhow? His eyes were covered by a hat for half of it." All that time he had wondered what the two of them had meant, and it was only now, as he crept along on his tiptoes, that he could just make out the shape of a hat upon a stool.

Someone began to speak, then another. The hall had lapsed into silence, and then, with a surge of energy, the ceremony commenced. As the group started to thin out, someone shouting out various house names, Duncan found himself easing nearer and nearer to the front of the crowd, and before long, his eyes picked out something that would have shocked him tenfold more had he not been aware that such things could exist; the marred hat being placed upon each fresh-faced student's head, was the someone calling out the house names in a bellowing voice. His thoughts turned to his father, and the questions he had asked him the night he had gotten his letter, and the answers his father had given as he had tucked him into his bed. "Were you scared? I mean, when you were getting sorted? Were you afraid?" his father had given him a knowing smile, a recognition of the numerous questions he had needed and wanted answering, but had no-one to ask. "I was terrified," he replied honestly, seating himself at the foot of the bed, "I didn't know what was going to happen. I couldn't ask your grandma and 'pa for help, what with them being muggles, and all. If it hadn't been for the complete goons in my year, I probably would have been shaking like a leaf all the way there. Now," he said, returning to the glimmering smile Duncan knew so well, "you just remember to hold your head high when the nerves start to take over. It's okay to tremble a little. We all did." The words had drifted in and out of his head as he had tried to sleep, that night. Sleep had not come easy with the burst of excitement he had felt that night, and every night after at the prospect of joining a magic school.

Just as a calm had began to settle over him in a dreamy haze, he was brought back to reality with a jolt. Initially, he did not understand why this moment had occurred, though he soon discovered why as a voice loudly repeated itself. "Wraxvalt, Duncan" it called across the echoing hall for all to hear. The boys from the train that still remained amongst the crowd, gave him a nudge, a push, and a 'good luck'. Duncan stepped forward, moving uneasily through the group towards the very front of the hall. He kept his head held high. He could feel himself shaking and just hoped it wouldn't show. His breathing came in awkward gasps through his slightly parted lips, and he set himself down upon the stool. The next thing he knew, the old hat was resting upon the tops of his ears, leaking onto his forehead and shadowing his eyes. Remember what dad said, he thought in comfort, remember that you aren't unique in being nervous, or afraid. Whatever happens now, happens for the best. Whatever happens, it's for the best. He attempted to quell his thoughts by focusing on the faces of those present in the hall, whether they were smiling or uncertain. "Come on, Duncan," he hissed under his breath, "what dad said about something eating his head- he must have meant the hat, and I'm sure he didn't mean it literally." Duncan paused and swiveled his eyes up at the shadowy brim of the hat. I'm sure he didn't..

"Oh no, I don't eat heads. At least not eleven year old heads. I find the flavour doesn't come out until around fifty.

GRYFFINDOR!"

Erik and the other first years were guided into the Great Hall like a flock of lambs. He craned his neck to observe the skies above, clearly impressed. Christian would love this. Feeling a little sick at the thought of his brother, Erik looked ahead. The headmaster guy was picking up a hat that looked like it'd gone through the washer too many times, been rolled in dirt, and chewed on by someone's dog. The boy grinned. He had no fear of things that weren't perfect. Tristan had told him about the Sorting Hat, that it would decide which house he was going into. Erik wasn't sure if his dad had been joking when he added that hopefully Erik wouldn't be placed in Hufflepuff. The eleven-year-old didn't see what the big deal was.

It wasn't long before the dark-haired kid's name was called. Stepping forward, he parked his bum on the stool and waited for the old hat to be placed on his head. Erik noticed some students he'd met on the train and beamed at them. As the brim of the hat sagged over his eyes, all Erik could think was, I'm hungry. The mounds of candy he'd mowed through earlier had done nothing to stay his appetite.

"Hopefully your dad was joking - or at least won't mind too terribly much. You're a HUFFLEPUFF!"

<SIZE size="50"> For once the Tahiti born boy was actually feeling like he should just run. The boy had never felt like that before. He wanted to turn around, leave the school and go back to warm Tahiti. But, he couldn't. He was a wizard, and he knew his family would take well in the very fact he'd turned to leave all the opportunities behind, just from a simple case of the butterflies. It wasn't like it wouldn't just pass as soon as the actual sorting began. But it wasn't that simple for the Tahiti boy. He hated being sorted. It wasn't the first time he'd been sorted. Since he'd lived in a few foster homes, being sorted into specific groups with certain kids had always proved to be a disaster. It had only been the past few years in his new family, Verline that he hadn't faced that kind of thing in a long while. It was why on this very day, standing with the rest of his year, the boy didn't know what do. Stay or go. He knew in the end it would probably be fine, but the boy knew nothing of the houses, nothing of the magic. It was all a complete mystery. He had not grown up knowing nothing of his parents and the magic thing had not been mention at all. There wasn't a field that the person could tick to say such a thing. However, this wasn't the first thing on his mind. It was more that he didn't know anything about what he was going to do, and for once, he actually wanted his parents there to help him. He had to be thankful at least that his sister was there for him. That she was standing by his side. It would be the best thing, without her, he knew he would've never been able to go through with it. He'd be walking away, but for her, he was sticking it out. He'd try it out. Do the first year, and if it was truly horrible, he could ask to just go to school back home in Tahiti. Which had always been his plan if this didn't work out. It was the nature of the boy to always have a plan b. Have a second plan incase the first didn't work out. Through habit and the fact he just thought at the back of his mind that it wouldn't. It was a little pointless, but he at least knew that no matter what he'd always have a back up. And the back up would be the best thing for him to have. However, he didn't have much time to think of this as the doors opened and everyone began to make their way into the hall. The first thing that took the Tahiti boy by surprise was the four long tables of students. All of whom dressed in a certain uniform. The boy felt his palms begin to sweat. This was not going to go well. Sorting was such a horrible affair general, and now he had to be sorted in front of everyone. Cyprien Verline had half a mind to just turn and run. All eyes might watch him but at least it would be over. It was as he seriously considered this, that he felt someone take his hand. Cyprien looked to his hand and then up. Glad to see his sister smiling at him. Maybe he could do it.

The first to speak was an older man, clearly the head master. Cyprien wondered if the man enjoyed doing this. Or if it was really just the biggest chore known to man. After that, the hat in front of all of them began to sing, Cyprien was completely taken aback. He knew that wasn't normal. He didn't care that it was magic, a singing hat was not normal. Was that what was to sort him? The boy didn't want it to. Cyprien had never been sorted by hat before, what if it was wrong, or decided he was unsortable. Would he be removed from the school, or given a second chance? A flood of questions flew through his brain, but considering he was a verline the boy stood and waited, watching as person after person was sorted into one of the four houses, Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw and Slytherin. All of which sounded like odd names for houses, but it didn't seem to bother anyone apart from him. He was taking very deep breaths as the list neared them. Cyprien knew he'd be first, since C came before T. This he didn't want. A part of him wanted his sister to show him he it was perfectly sorted. He was sure if his sister could be sorted, then so could he. But, it wasn't that way, and the boy felt more and more nervous with every passing second. Finally, after what felt like forever, Cyprien heard the words,
«Verline, Cyprien»
The boy took a deep breathe and then walked up to the stool. He was using all the courage he owned to do this. He just wanted it over with as soon as possible. Sitting down on the stool, Cyprien felt the hat get placed on his head. 'ça va Cyprien, du calme.' his mind told him as he waited for the hat to make it's decision.

'Verline' would be an old name for a house, too. Stranger than any of ours, I think. But I suppose you care little about the hypothetical Verline house, and much more about where you'll be going. RAVENCLAW!"

Felicity wore the robes her mom had to purchase with weird wizard golden coins. She thought with regular funds you could get about anything, but in the wizarding world everything was different. And by the looks of her robes she could tell this was true. If she went outside in public with these school robes on, she imagines everyone would laugh at her. Thanks to the school mandatory rules, she need not to worry about robes. The time came for sorting and the soon to be first years were all escorted inside. Felicity standing bellow five feet tall, stood lengthy enough to see overhead. So many were bout her height, but in case, she inched on her pointy toes to get a better look.

Everything was like how magic supposed to feel, except for the hat, it was old and rugged looking. She wanted to ask anyone why they would use an old hat to determine the house you were sorted in. She found it to be very weird, cause in elementary school she was never sorted into class. Rather you were assign to one teacher, back home in Cuba there was only one teacher per grade. Due to the restriction there, Felicity old school house was heavily packed with children from the neighborhood.

Soon enough, the old mangle up hat started to speak, more like started to sing for them all to hear. She heard each house by name, they all sounded hilarious to her ear. When her name was called up, "Castillo, Felicity!" the young Hispanic girl walks gracefully up the stairs and sat down on the chair. Her hair, puffy and all was tangle in a mess, it took them a while to plant the hat on her head. Eventually when it fell on her head, she waited a tiny nervous that she be sorted in a house in which she did not belong in.

"I've never been known to place someone in a house which they didn't belong in. For instance, you are a RAVENCLAW!"

Will entered the Great hall along with the other first years, lead by the headmaster and looked around in awe. It was amazing, as everything else he had seen of the castle so far had been. He couldn't believe this was his school and he was going to be living here for the next seven years. It was exciting, to say the least, and this was how it all began. In a few moments, he was told, the headmaster would begin calling names, each new student would have the sorting hat placed atop of there heads and be sorted into their houses. There were four of them, he didn't know too much about them yet, only the basics and some things he had heard being thrown around on the train, but not enough to have any sort of preference as to which house he wished to be given.
The headmaster announced that he would begin calling the names, and Will looked around himself at the faces of the other first years. Some looked barely able to contain there excitement, others extremely nervous and worried, he himself didn't know quite what he was! Intrigued mostly, curious. After a good few students had been called "Fabrighazo, William" interrupted his thoughts, and for a moment he wasn't sure if he had actually heard it or imagined it, but the headmaster was standing with the hat in one hand and his scroll in the other, looking out at the first years expectantly, so he stepped forward and made his way towards the stool. Sitting down, he stared out at the sea of black robes before him. He could see clearly now the four long house tables and he wondered which he would be joining for dinner tonight, and for all of his meals for his time here. As if on cue the hat was placed on his head and he didn't know quite what to do, should he speak? No one else had said anything, plus only minutes ago the hat had sang about being able to see into there mind's hadn't it, there would be no need. Should he say hello? In his mind.. or would that be silly? Maybe he should just sit quietly and let the hat do it's thing, yes, that seemed like the best idea..

"I find it fairly polite to say hello when you meet somebody new. So, 'hello' to you - even if you didn't offer it to me. As to why you're sitting under me... I believe you're a GRYFFINDOR!"

As students, Delilah included, the eleven year old briefly wondered if going to this school was such a good idea. Whether it was her father's stress getting to her or the fact that just months ago a Professor, a fully trained wizard, had been murdered at this school. Beauxbatons probably would have been safer, she thought with an grim smile towards the only person she knew at this school, Jay Bennet. Although she was an intelligent girl she also happened to be quite paranoid because of all that has happened to her shrinking family so she wondered whether or not she would actually live past her first year as she listened to the Sorting Hat sing it's song as her sister had described it would long ago. She wondered what both of her sisters would have said if she was sorted into any one of the houses and whether they would be judgemental of them because of the separation between Gryffindor, Slytherin, Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw. She glanced over at her blonde friend and wondered if it would create a rift between them should they be in opposing houses but doubted so as they truly weren't close. They were friends simply because of obligations to their siblings - living and deceased. This and it Delilah aimed to frustrate her father because he had a true hate for the Finches, claiming that Izaak had killed her sister which as Delilah stood beside his brother she knew simply wasn't true, it was the dark omen around her family she glanced around the first years suspiciously as she waited for her name to be called, thinking that in only a few years she would no longer see any of them because of the curse placed on her family.

When Delilah's name was finally called and she sat on the stool, pushing her curly brown hair away from her face she wondered why she would go to school if she was doomed to die in only a few years time. She should be spending her time outdoors or reading great pieces of literature instead of mastering her wand but her father thought her foolish for thinking that there was a plague on their family that was out to target her next so it would not fly so she would just have to wait to be sorted and see where life took her.

"You have a lot of potential. Best to hone that in RAVENCLAW!"

June stood straight, hiding, as she usually did, behind her facade. Ever since she had grown up in the orphanage, she refused to show any weakness, any nervousness, any shred of how she really feels. She shook her head slightly, making her blonde hair flow around her shoulders, covering part of her eyes, almost as if a curtain. She didn't want anyone knowing how scared she was of which house she was going to be sorted in, how scared she was that she was going to be a disappointment to her adoptive parents as well, and that they were going to want to abandon her as well, like her real parents did when she was a baby. The tall girl straightened her robes as she stood, her brown eyes glancing around at each person standing with her, before her eyes glanced over each table. Was it just her, or did the people under the green banner look the nastiest? She didn't really want to go to that house.

Her eyes darted back to the front, where the Headmaster stood, talking to them, telling them how the Sorting process was going to work. It didn't help curb her nervousness at all. The Headmaster didn't take much longer, and then people's names were being called out in alphabetical order. 'It figures it'd be in alphabetical order.' She thought to herself, rolling her eyes dramatically. It was times like this that she hated her last name. It meant that she had to always wait the longest. Her stomach growled, almost in sympathy with her. "Shh..." She whispered to it, glancing around terrified, hoping that no one had also heard. She hadn't been able to eat on the train because of butterflies, but now her stomach had decided that it was hungry.

She hoped that her name would hurry up and be called, and before she knew it:

"Wilson, June!"

She stepped forward nervously, feeling everyone's eyes on her. She was nearly last, and everyone was probably getting hungry as well. 'I hope it'll be quick,' she thought, just before the sorting hat was placed on her head. She didn't want to keep people waiting much longer, but she wanted to get her sorting over and done with so she couldn't disappoint them. She wanted them to keep on lavishing her with presents because she had missed out on so much when she was still in the orphanage.

"I can be as quick as you'd like. How's this: SLYTHERIN!"

"Smile, JazzyMae!"

There were a series of giggles but they were quickly silenced.
I sat down on the stool and shut my eyes tight so I wouldn't have to look at all the people staring at me. Whispering about me. My heart was beating and my palms were sweaty and wet. Everything seemed to go quiet as the Sorting Hat talked about me out loud. I kept the tears from flowing. My stage fright was kicking in. I heard clapping and sighed in relief that it was over now.

"Just like your brothers: HUFFLEPUFF!"

Aiden stood near the back of the crowd, waiting to be let into the castle. This day couldn't have come fast enough, and Aiden was happy to finally get away from home. The last few days at home were terrible, his father wouldn't stop giving him..'advice' about how to act at the school. Even something that was supposed to be his own his father tried to take control of! Luckily his mother stepped in and Aiden spent the last day at home at peace.
But Aiden shook his head of thoughts of home; he was finally at a place where he would be happy to call home. He walked with the rest of the first years into the Hall, taking in the site of all the students and all the magic that seemed to be there already. He immediately wondered which students were the Captains of their teams and what he could do to convince them to let him on the team early. Aiden ruffled his hair as he looked around for the new friend that he had made before catching her eye and giving her a nod. A slight flutter of nervousness went through his body as the names got closer to his.
Finally it was his turn. He heard his name being called. Swallowing hard, he walked up to the seat, and felt the hat being placed on his head; the oversized hat which fell all the way down, covering his eyes. He didn't know what to do or think, so he sat, in silence, for once trusting someone; or something rather.

"A very clear example of a SLYTHERIN!"

Alric Valen Silvermaine is a happy lost soul. This is the last step to his Finally Leaving The House and Entering Some Random School day. He IS happy. And so as he strode to the crowd of first years waiting to be sorted, he wondered if this would be a long wait again. But to Alric's surprise, the random professor who was in front called his name "Alric Silvermaine!" He wanted to complain that he has a SECOND name, but another thing distracted him more. It was how his name was called. It sounded more like "Aaaaal-ric! SilverMAAAAAAIIIINE!" It caused the other students to laugh. How embarrassing.

But he needed to go. And he did. He was now standing in front of the Sorting Hat. "That's odd. I expected you to be dustier than this." he muttered, staring at the sorting hat. "I guess my imagination failed me." he said and smiled. And as Alric sat down on the chair, he whispered something only the Sorting Hat would hear "Now, Mr. Clean Sorting Hat, please don't put me in that group of troublesome children." he said, pertaining to the Slytherins, and waited for the final answer.

"I'm not sure which group of children you'd like to be with, then. Most eleven year olds can be troublesome now and then. But I think your independent nature and bright mind deserves a place in RAVENCLAW!"

Getting into school is one of the least things that Sienna is currently focusing on. She's busy planning her birthday next year and also very busy doubting whether she's gonna be vacationing in Hawaii next semester or not. That's why when she entered the Great Hall with the rest of the unsorted students, she was not very surprised, unlike the others students whose eyes where bulging into great awe. Sienna, eventually just rolled her eyes and continue to look around. She saw four really long tables around her her. Maybe those tables represent the four houses, Sienna thought. Continuing to look around, Sienna noticed that a few girl who were wearing green scarves where somewhat laughing at something and pointing at it. The fingers of those certain people somehow pointed in the same direction as Sienna's. Are they laughing because of my silly hair?, Sienna wondered, giving those girls her dirtiest look. When Sienna, and the rest of the unsorted students reached their destination, the professor in front of them started talking and giving rules. And after that, the sorting began. The professor started calling out names and people were being sorted. As the sorting was happening, Sienna saw that being sorted were just about the same as sitting in a chair and trying out hats in a hat store, but only minus the moldy chair and minus the talking hat. When the professor finally said "Matios, Sienna?", Sienna rolled her eyes once more then walked her way until up front and then sat on the moldy chair. And when the hat was placed down her brunette head, Sienna commanded, "Okay hat, let's get this over with".

"Okay Sienna. I'm really not sure why you'd think I don't want to get this over with. Hmmm... It pains me to say this now, but perhaps it will show in the future: GRYFFINDOR!"

Tori hung at the back of the crowd of first years as they entered the Castle. It was amazing that something so large could be hidden. She supposed she could have asked her parents about Hogwarts and how it was possible, but for the last few days she didn't really care about spending time with them.
As the headmaster called them forward, Tori took in the sight of the beautiful sky above them; which she soon overheard that it was actually the ceiling. It amazed her what magic could do. A rumble played a noise in her stomach, and she wasn't sure whether it was because of her nervousness, or her hunger. Tori tapped her foot impatiently as the names were being called out, putting on a rather ragged looking hat. Finally it was her turn, and she slowly made her way to the front. Tori started to sweat, noticing that everybody was watching her. She hated being in the limelight, it was the very worst. She just knew she was going to embarrass herself somehow.
Luckily, without any problems, Tori made it to the seat; in what felt like it took a million years to get to. Tori sat down, and nervously looked out into the crowd before the blackness of the hat covered her eyes.

"SLYTHERIN!"

If there was one thing that could be said about a certain pink haired girl was that against a crowd she stood out. The girl always played around with the fact that it was less the hair, but more the incredibly tanned skin. Either way, when she was in a crowd it was easy to spot her. It was not really her intention just something that had happened. The pink hair had always been a big plan, and on her tenth birthday her parents had finally allowed it. And now a year later, she had the same shade of bubblegum pink hair. That made her completely stand out against the black uniforms and plain stone walls. Much like her twin, her first instinct during this wait was to run. She had no idea what to expect. And this factor scared her. Even though she knew it would be fine, and she was really worrying over nothing, it didn't mean that she didn't still worry. She was just better at covering up. The school itself, from the outside appeared amazing. It was like that castle that as a little girl she had always dreamed of living in as a disney princess. But, she was not here to be waited on hand and foot, no Hogwarts was a place where she would learn everything she needed to know about the magical world. All the spells and all the enchantments, everything, to put it truthfully, Tegan Verline was pretty much very looking forward to the next seven years. The same could not be said about her brother. Tegan had always been good at reading people, she desperately hoped they'd be sorted into the same house. They were of course very closely related. She wanted to be in the same house as him, so she would have a friend and so that she would be able to look after him. Tegan Verline knew that it would be just like moving to another home for her twin. He'd lived in plenty, and just as everything had become settled for them at home, magic had come along. Not that Tegan was about to start complaining about that, no, she was just a little annoyed that it hadn't come a little later. But, she had little time to ponder that as the doors to the great hall swung open. She felt her heart begin to race in her chest. This would be it. She would get sorted and then that would be her settled for the next seven years. Seven years being a long time the girl knew things could change, but for the most part, she was sure that nothing would take her or her brother away from the school. The Tahiti born girl would stop at nothing to protect her brother and to keep them at the school. She was just so thankful for an opportunity of magic and that her parents had been willing and happy to let them go. She knew they could've easily just made them stay at the house, but they were supportive, they were great. Tegan took a deep breathe and headed into the Great Hall.

It was busy, that was what she noticed, people were everywhere, and all ages. She noticed many blondes and brunettes, few gingers. Red, blue, Green and yellow. The four colors that sat next to each other. She couldn't tell what house meant what. The people in green looked a little unhappy, but were all dressed incredibly stylishly, the ones in blue neatest of the lot looked confident and happy. The reds, were all smiling encouragingly, with a look of mischief on their faces. And the yellow, seemed like the friendliest of the bunch. She rather liked the look of the yellows. It would suit her well, she knew that next year, she would look happily upon the new first years with a friendly smile if she was in that house. But she wasn't yet sorted, so she couldn't really think of what would happen in the next year. As she glanced towards the front of the moving crowd, the girl noticed her brother looked very nervous. She knew that look, it tended to be one he had before turning and running. Instinctively she reached down and took his hand. Giving a light squeeze and waiting for him to notice her. When he did, she smile. She could visibly see him relax. Which was always good, She needed him to be relaxed. It would help a lot. Once they reached the front a man began speaking, she nodded along, although impatient and waiting to get sorted pronto. She glanced around the room, and then noticed the hat. Which began singing, this made the girl smile. Tegan new she was going to love it here. It had everything she could ever possibly wish for and more. However, she noticed her brother was less pleased by it, so once again she squeezed his hand and then flashed a smile to him. Once the hat was finished, she watched as student after student got called and sorted. She was able to make out that Green was Slytherin, Blue was Ravenclaw, Red was Gryffindor and Yellow was hufflepuff. Slowly the names began to get towards her. She was in that moment annoyed that her brother would be first. She could feel his hand sweating, and she wanted to tell him it would be fine, but she didn't want to be the girl to talk during the sorting. Verline, Cyprien Tegan let go of her brothers hand and watched him walk up and be sorted. She smiled at him encouragingly. Clapping very loudly as he was sorted into the noble house of Ravenclaw. And then, she knew it was her.
«Verline, Tegan»
Tegan took a deep breath and then walked up to the stool. This was it, a part of her mind wanted Ravenclaw very badly, since her brother was there, but she figured that, just because she wanted it, didn't mean she would actually get it. In fact, Tegan was sure that they'd be in different houses. And a part would be pleased. he'd have to become confident without her. Whatever the outcome, Tegan was excited. She sat down on the stool, and waited for the hat to be placed on her bubblegum pink hair. She was smiling and looking forward to where she'd end up.

Nicki was walking quite slowly up to the sorting hat. Her name had just been called, and she was as nervous as can be. Her whole life depended on this decision, and this was Nicki's greatest fear and heart's desire; she wanted to self analyze herself, but she was afraid of anyone seeing her thoughs. Nicki believed that she could be either in Ravenclaw or Slytherin, and she didn't know which one she would get. She wasn't all that brave, and she was nice, but she figured that her other qualities would smother her niceness, as they were much more prominent. Nicki believed she was either for Slytherin or Ravenclaw because above all, she loved to learn but hated working for it, and lied a lot but hated not telling the truth. She also had a bit of a charade that she played; she would always be as nice as possible to everyone even if she hated them, so that they would never hurt her in any way. If she got Slytherin, she wouldn't be able to complete Hogwarts New Zealand with this charade. She finished walking up to the sorting hat. This was the moment of truth.

"You're undoubtedly a RAVENCLAW!"

Finally the day has come. The only day that she has been looking forward to for the past three months. The feeling was incredible with everyone just staring down at them, their faces with a weird look on them. Alliyah wondered if ever there was something strange about them going inside the Great Hall for the first time in their whole lives. But their stares and strange looks didn't really bother her that much to be honest. It was the strange nausea that was accompanying her almost the whole time for the last week. Up to now, she could not get out the nervous feeling that she is currently on the mood for. Ever since the morning has started, she had this sick feeling that was stored inside her system just like a storm wanting to drive the people as crazy as possible. Alliyah looked around the spacious room with a lot of awe sparkling in her beautiful brown eyes. Unlike her sister who had blue eyes, Alliyah inherited the looks of her mother. She was stunning, elegant and classy. Hopefully, same goes with Ally in the future. At that very moment when they stopped to lead them in front of everyone else, Ally's stomach turned and twisted. The girl sucked in a deep breath very quickly, awaiting for her name to be called by the Sorting Hat which would be any time by now.

The Sorting Hat was old. Alliyah could just imagine hundreds of other heads that have been placed right beneath it. She wasn't particularly sure if that was the same hat that was placed right above Harry Potter's head by the way. She hoped it was. There was excitement in the air at the same time tension whenever a student was called and the hat was thinking with its brain (if ever it has one stored inside those old cloths). Alliyah crossed her arms with her light brown hair tied in a ponytail not moving at all. She was frozen and stiff, at the same time, excited of what the results will be when it will be her turn. Some students that were sorted ahead of her worn that exact expression that Alliyah had on her pretty features. In the other hand, the rest were calm and cool, as if they had nothing to care about in the whole world. Alliyah looked around too locate her sister who was sitting at the far side of the Slytherin table with a lazy look on her face, not actually paying attention to the Sorting Hat's decisions with other students. Some tables erupted into a cheer and applause whenever they received a new member. But some just remained silent with only polite nods and shaking of hands as a greeting. Alliyah followed the direction of some person who was sorted into Hufflepuff. Instantly, she frowned. Her frown made her look actually in deep thought if she just knew. The idea of being in the Hufflepuff house also made her sick. She had no big deal against that house. It's just that her family expected her to be sorted into Slytherin at least. Even though she didn't have some exact qualities for her to be included with the Slytherins just where her sister belongs.

"Jackson, Alliyah!"

Finally. The time was hers to own and enjoy and remember. Her head did a fast turn towards the person who just called her. She wasn't sure who he was. But she had a strong feeling that this person had a strong reputation. Alliyah breathed in, hoping that her sister would actually listen to her being sorted, and walked towards the front. She sat down and watched the Sorting Hat being lowered towards her head. The moment was long for her, even though it only lasted for not more than five seconds. Before the Sorting Hat was able to give her a result for her best house, she did a silent prayer very quickly. Please not Ravenclaw of Hufflepuff. Please. I'm begging you. Pick the best house for me. The one which I will belong easily with friends that I will count on.

"You're more a Ravenclaw than you realize. But alright, if you insist: GRYFFINDOR!"
