Open The Search for Ghosts

[Edward Elric]

Edward had seen the ghosts at the opening ceremony but hadn't had a chance to actually speak with any of them. He was curious about the science behind becoming a ghost after death. It seemed like an interesting concept for someone like himself. He wanted to be an inventor and didn't want to lose the opportunity simply because he met an early demise.

There was a rumor he'd overheard during the feast that the ghosts sometime's like to hangout inside in old bathroom on the fifth floor. Edward could hear the dripping from one of the faucets nearby. It was dark and so Edward decided to practice the spell they were learning in Charms. "Lumos" Edward said as he held out his wand. Nothing happened and so he tried again three more times before finally the tip of his wand lit up and began to shine light around the room. "Any ghosts around wanna talk?" Edward called out brightly.

Lumio was heading back to the gryffindor common room, when he heard a voice and a light. That was a lumos spell! Lumio had certainly enjoyed the last charms lesson where they had learnt that spell. He knew his name wasn’t because of the spell, but rather a place, but in class it was difficult for him to tell the different between someone greeting or trying to get his attention and someone casting the spell. This occasion the spell had been cast but Lumio was still curious especially as the person followed up with asking if there were any ghosts that wanted to talk. Lumio wanted to meet some ghosts. He approached and noticed that it was a boy from his year, his house, ”Edward?” he couldn’t help but say, taking out his own wand and quickly casting, ”Lumos,” too. He glanced around the room, ”Found any ghosts yet?”​

Edward turned suddenly to see Lumio with his own wand lit up. "Hey Lumio, I only just got in here and saw how dark it was, I heard some of the ghosts like to hang out here" Edward said casually enough without going into why he was searching for one of the ghosts. He turned around and pointed his wand towards one of the broken toilets thinking he might spot one of them hanging out above it. "Your welcome to help search if you like, wonder if it's the smell that makes the ghosts wanting to hang out here?" Edward said out loud hoping that one of the ghosts might appear and answer.

The smell was stale air and unfortunately remains of when desperate students decided to go ahead and try to use the lavatory. It was all relatively clean but somethings simply can't be washed out of the walls and that smell was one of them.

Lumio looked at the room they both found themselves in. He moved a little further into the room, and raised the wand up to have a closer look at the ceiling of the building. He smiled at it, nodding in agreement at Edward’s judgement of the room. ”I mean, if I was a ghost I wouldn’t pick a bathroom to hang out in, but it does seem like a particularly haunted place of the school,” Lumio spoke with his usual bright and loud tone, perhaps not the most practical for the moment, but it wasn’t like he knew how to switch it off. It wasn’t that easy for him. He ventured further into the room. It was an odd room, not a place he’d been in before, but that wasn’t that hard for him to say since all of Hogwarts was pretty new to him. ”This is an odd bathroom,” he couldn’t help but comment, since to him it did certainly seem like a strange bathroom. Definitely not a place he would ever really want to actively go. ​

"It is an odd bathroom" Edward mumbled as his foot suddenly stepped on a wet piece of tile floor that was also cracked. He felt his foot suddenly give way as the tile crunched beneath it. As he fell he felt his wand slip from his hand and the light from the tip go out. He hit the ground with a muffled thud and landed on his right shoulder which suddenly became wet from whatever substance was on the floor. "I'm starting to get tired of falling" Edward mumbled as he slowly got back to his feet.

He began searching for his wand as a sound was suddenly heard from the other side of the bathroom. Edward's first thought was that it might actually be one of the ghosts. Edward thought it had sounded like a scurrying sound and he wondered for a brief moment if Ghosts actually scurried or not. "Did you see what that was?" he asked Lumio.

Lumio nodded in agreement, it was a weird bathroom. Lumio whipped around to Edward when he heard the crack, watching with some barely held laughter as the other boy fell. Lumio felt a little bad when the boy hit the ground but it was still a bit funny, ”You alright there?” he asked, though he had been laughing lightly it didn’t mean that he wasn’t keen to know how the boy was. He could see that it appeared that he’d dropped his wand in the process, so Lumio moved his own wand to shine over the surrounding area of where it might’ve gone. He looked round to where a little scurrying noise was. Was it a mouse or even worse a rat? Lumio knew that some people liked either as pets but if they’d lost it to this bathroom then it was gross to him. He gave a little shrug ”Oh look!” he exclaimed loudly, ”Is that your wand?” lumio has noted the wand like object not far from them. He bounded over to it, somewhat carelessly considering he had just watch Edward take quite the fall in the bathroom. He didn’t want to pick up the wand, his mother had always told him to not do that. That it wasn’t a good thing to do that. So he just stood next to it. ”This school probably has mice or rats. Other than the ones that are melts as pets.” the boy then reasoned loudly. .​
