Amauri nodded when Seraphine told him that she needed to speak with him over matters that probably involved the Ministry. He turned his cold, blue eyes to Nicolette once more. There was something...she was not acting like a normal person but then again, he grew up with this woman. Amauri's voice continued to stay in that single tone as he intoned, "I don't see why the Ministry would want me to conduct an investigation upon you and your family after being a victim in a madman's killing spree unless you have something that the Ministry should be worried about. Regardless, it is actually me wondering." Amauri's suspicions were raised, because if he was going to investigate her, would he not do so in a formal manner and not at his own son's wedding? Amauri did not think that there was a deeper story to this all, not to mention that her husband was glaring him down like he had stepped into the wrong territory which made him more uneasy than anything. Did this man ever shed an emotion? Then again, in an odd way, Nicolette's husband was similar to Amauri, with cold stares and guarded eyes.
Amauri was about to ask who the man was but Nicolette interrupted his thoughts and asked a question that made Amauri's face harden a bit as if he were hiding his true emotions. He answered, "To be honest with you, Nicolette, I am proud that he found love so early, but not so much that he could not wait to marry her until after she graduated. If you are asking about him being an Auror, it is mixed. I don't think he knows how hard it is to be an Auror. To him, we are heroes, but in my eyes, we are murderers when it comes down to it, no matter the circumstances. He is not ready to kill unless it is needed." Amauri had torn apart a mother from her daughter, and also destroyed families as well as had his own destroyed. It was a dog-eat-dog world out there, and neither sides were really winning. Just a stalemate. "If you will excuse me." He did not say where he was going or who he was going to speak to. He did not know why he just spilled his thoughts like that, but it was the truth. To Amauri, Vincent was not ready to face the darkness of the world. Losing a motehr or not, he just was not ready. Amauri walked from the couple, and more or less toward the other end of the hall.
