Though he'd been spending most of the day with Jonah, Lumos didn't want Demi to think he'd forgotten about her, so he'd invited her to the Great Lawn, not far from the lake. Demi was his best friend and he'd taken her side for anything. He always would, he felt, because Demi had always been there for him too. He pulled out the little treasure box he had for her, something he'd worked hard on with his dad to get working. His mum had a hand in it too, he wasn't sure which of them was better at charms. He hoped Demi liked it, he was trying to show her his appreciation and he hadn't felt like a rose was good enough. He hoped she wasn't upset she hadn't received one from him, but he had never been a rose kind of person really, mostly just for Jonah. He closed the box, the song would be too much of a give away he thought.

@Demi Zephyr

Since Professor Fox had started giving Demi things to work on in between classes, she'd been so focused on that and Quidditch to worry too much about what her other classmates thought about her these days. Even William and Eurydice were far from her mind, and while she missed spending time with Lumos, she was still glad he was spending time with Jonah who seemed to make him happy. Sat on the lawn under the sun, Demi was in the middle of fiddling with a motherboard that Professor Fox had given her. She knew of course it would never work in the same way it would outside of Hogwarts, but it was still fun to see how the parts connected together. The Ravenclaw looked up at the sound of footsteps, squinting in the sunlight at the student approaching her, although she only needed to see his outline to know it was her best friend. "Hey Lumi," Demi grinned, glad for the chance to see him. She knew today was Valentine's day so no doubt most others would be busy including the Slytherin, but Demi wasn't delivering roses this year and had been more or less keeping to herself. "Your hair is looking ridiculous, by the way," she told him, peering at the blonde curls standing up in all sorts of directions thanks to the wind. He was her best friend, it was her job to look out for him. "Come here," she moved the motherboard aside, beckoning the third year closer.

Lumos laughed as Demi insulted him. Of course she did, that was her job, to keep him in line. "Heya," he said, moving closer and crouching down beside her. He didn't want to wreck whatever she was working on, which looked like something from a computer. He wasn't into that stuff like she was, so he didn't know much about it, but he liked to know a little so he could engage in things with her. "Happy Valentine's Day, sorry I couldn't get away earlier, I miss you," he said, making sure she was aware that he did in fact think of her quite often. They shared a few classes this year which made it a little easier to see her, but he knew it would only get harder from her, given the nature of schooling and how many different classes they were probably going to take. That was okay though, they would work things out and get to a good point where they would see each other as often as they wanted to. He did miss spending more time with her, and he knew he would have to put more effort into seeing his best friend.

Rose could only assume that Lumi was the nickname of the next person on her list of rose deliveries. Approaching the pair, she tried not to feel rude as she rudely interrupted their conversation. "Are you Lumi Walden-Cade?" she asked, wondering why anyone would name their child Lumos. Then again, she was named after wine, and Amortentia was named after a potion, so what did she know?

Lumos looked up as a first year approached them. He assumed she was a first year because she was tiny. "Lumos, only Demi calls me Lumi," he said, looking at her expectantly. He had to assume she had a rose for him or something, because that was usually what this meant.

Rose shifted her gaze between the boy and the girl, suddenly feeling very sheepish. "I didn't.. " she didn't what? Mean to call him that? Assume that he wouldn't mind her calling him that too? "This is yours," Rose handed him the red rose quickly, "Sorry." Without waiting around to be scolded by the Slytherin any more, Rose took her leave and practically scampered away.

Stay away from Jonah

Demi had started moving Lumi's curls, making sure the parting in his hair was once again visible rather than having her best friend resemble some sort of troll that had been sleeping in the bushes for a week. "I miss you too!" she said, resting her hands on his shoulders for a moment to look at him properly. She didn't see him that often these days because they were both so busy with other things, but that didn't mean she didn't appreciate him any less. "Happy Va.." suddenly they were interrupted by a small blonde girl, and Demi frowned at her turn of phrase. Surely, she would know there were better times to approach people to give them a rose, than when they were in the middle of a conversation? Demi waited for the girl to bugger off, her eyes fixed on glaring at her until she was out of sight. "Is that from Jonah?" Demi finally turned back to Lumos, wondering if they were serious enough now that her best friend really had found love.

Lumos raised an eyebrow at the girl as she handed over his rose and then practically run away. He hadn't meant to scare her off, only let her know that he didn't like the nickname Lumi from anyone who wasn't Demi, but he supposed if she wanted to interpret it that way he wasn't about to correct her. He quickly looked at the note, and frowned. He really wasn't sure who had sent him the rose, but he as pretty sure it wasn't from Jonah. He showed Demi the rose. "No, it's not from Jonah, I got his earlier. I don't know who this is from though, but I could probably guess, maybe. There's only a small group of people I think who don't want me to be with him. So I assume this is from one of them." It could have been from any of his siblings, maybe, or perhaps from Eurydice, since she seemed particularly protective of her cousin. Though she didn't seem to hate Nox, and in his experience people who disliked him tended to also dislike his brother and Eurydice didn't seem the type. But it wasn't helping him narrow this down at all. He didn't think this was one he wanted to show Jonah, because it would only upset him. He would probably see it as a sign or something, since Jonah had an unfortunate tendency to assume everything meant bad things would happen. "I think it's best that I don't tell him about this, it would just upset him."
