Liusaidh had made somewhat of an effort. She wasn’t wearing the dress her mother had packed for her and this event, but a more summery dress that Liusaidh had picked out. It wasn’t at good quality and comparatively with the dress not something that her mother had made. She liked the dress she was wearing, it suited the celebration, it suited the fact it was summer and not dark and dreary winter. THough she could admit she was looking forward to the open fire and the snow. She just wanted to make the last most of the summer yuletide before going home. So rather than the exceedingly formal dress her mother had for her, she’d switched it out for the summery floral dress that Liusaidh had picked out. She skipped her way into the great hall and didn’t bother even looking at how the room was. She went straight to the drinks table, got herself a cup of pumpkin juice and then went to the dancefloor to dance. To make the most of this celebration.

Skylar had been really excited for her first ever Yule Ball, and was glad to be able to enjoy it even more now that exams were over! She'd easily picked out a dress which was pretty casual compared to others (yet fancy for her taste) and was a nice, foresty green colour which reminded her of the nature surrounding her house back home. She hadn't ended up asking anyone to go with her, but she didn't really care, she decided to just go by herself and see if she could meet new people this way at least. Walking in she was amazed at the beauty of the hall, with snow falling softly just above her head where it disappered, and a beautifully decorated rest of the hall. Oh and of course, a table full of food! She immediately made her way there, not letting the opportunity to eat some delicious snacks escape her. She ate a chocolate frog and tried a delicious gingerbread witch, before getting herself some lemonade water and going onto the dance floor, cup still in hand.

She hadn't been there for long, before she saw someone else who looked to be by themselves. Deciding to make the most of this opportunity to meet new people, she walked right up to the girl, who she vaguely remembered from her Defense Against the Dark Arts class, and introduced herself, hoping to make a new friend. "Hey, how are you? I'm Skyar, but you can just call me Sky." she said with a smile, before adding "Oh, and I love your dress, it suits you so much!" deciding a compliment never hurt anyone and might help her make another friend.

Liusaidh took another sip of her pumpkin juice and was a little surprised as someone walked up to her, and introduced themselves. She recognised the girl from her class, not a slytherin, a gryffindor or something. Sky. ”Aww thanks, yer sweet,” she said in response to the compliment. She knew that the polite thing would be to say it back, but Liusaidh wasn’t like that. ”Ah’m Liusaidh, no nickname,” she added with a friendly enough smile. ”yer in gryffindor right?” she then added. The slytherin wasn’t too sure what fun could be had at such an event. Dancing was fun...but that was about it. ”Dae ye dance, sky?”

Skylar was pleased when the other girl started talking to her, she was glad she wouldn't look like a loner at the Yule Ball anymore. "Wow that sounds so hard to say!" Skylar commented as the girl introduced herself, saying her name was Liusaidh. The fact that she didn't have a nickname either made it more difficult, maybe Lius or something would have been easier to remember. "Yep, I'm a Gryffindor!" she said with a proud smile, she hadn't expected to grow so close and protective of her house as she had. As Liusaidh asked if she danced, Skylar gave a mock grimace but said, "well, I'm definitely not the best but I don't mind it all too much I suppose. What about you?"

Liusaidh shook her head at it, ”If it helps, it’s just the scots gaelic fae Lucy,” she said with a little shrug. She couldn’t imagine having to be so dumb that you struggled over someone’s name, but people at this school were constantly thst. Liusaidh was glad that she could at least enjoy the company of them while she just had seven years of fun. ”Yeah, ah can always pick the gryffindors oot,” she said. Her tone was sweet, nice but there definitely was a little edge of not nice on it. But the girl said she could dance, ”Well, let’s dance then. Ah’m no wasting ma time standin’ around daein’ nothin’ when ah could be dancing,” she declared, and without really even looking back she marched towards the dancefloor, ”Come on Sky!” she called back to the girl.

Skylar had initially been pretty happy to meet someone new, someone who she could hopefully befriend, but even though it had hardly been a few minutes since they met each other, Skylar began to wonder whether she actually wanted to be friends with this girl. She was reasonably nice, but there was an unmistakable edge to her voice, almost like she was mocking Skylar with everything she said. But Skylar decided to just brush it off, she was probably just reading too much into it.

As Liusaidh marched off almost without warning to the dance floor, calling back to her to come as well, almost as though Skylar was some sort of dog, Skyar rolled her eyes, breathing out a sigh of annoyance. This girl was pretty full of herself and clearly thought herself better than everyone, but she had to go along with it, she could hardly leave after just meeting her. "Sure. Coming." the young Gryffindor said, a hint of sarcasm in her voice. She decided that she wouldn't let this girl ruin a perfectly good Yule Ball for her, so staying a few feet away from her than was probably necessary, she began to dance, taking care not to spill her drink while she was at it.

Liusaidh was happy that the girl had followed her out to the dancefloor. She turned to her as they reached a good spot and she just started dancing. She didn’t mind the distance between her and the other girl, she liked being able to just dance. She was moving wildly, jumping up and down a lot and just dancing like no one was watching. Truly in her mind she could just dance like she wanted to, anyone who had a problem with how she danced had a problem with her and that wasn’t usually a good thing, nor did it really bother her if they did. She grinned happy at Sky, just happy to be dancing and having fun. She didn’t know the girl much, at all, she didn’t care to get to know her, but with her she had a dance partner and that was just what she wanted and it would help keep things fun. She laughed lightly clearly showing how much she was enjoying herself.

As Skylar began dancing with Liusaidh, she found that maybe she had been too quick to judge her, it seemed that Liusaidh was genuinely having fun with her, and not just trying to mock her whenever she talked to her. Though she thought that the other girl's dance moves were probably a little too wild for her, (she preferred to remain a bit less 'jumpy') it was still fun, and Skylar felt herself smiling as they continued dancing. As the other girl grinned at Skylar, Skylar felt herself smiling back, finally getting into the mood and spirit of the Yule Ball, and happy to be with someone who was making her time here a bit better. As Liusaidh laughed, Skylar felt herself laughing too, the happy feeling was pretty contagious!

After a while longer of dancing, Skylar heard a familiar upbeat song play. "This is quite some song isn't it?!" she commented to Liusaidh, whilst dancing a bit more, the song urging her on to do so, although she had to make sure to be careful since her drink was still just over half full, easily spillable if she made a mistake. She didn't know exactly where she knew the song from though, but it was a good feeling to hear it nonetheless.

Liusaidh liked the dancing. It was easy. She was just enjoying herself. She looked at the girl as she spoke. Nodding in agreement, ”It’s no weird sisters, but it’ll dae,” she responded and though it was clear she was judging the music, she was still enjoying herself. She still likely the music enough that she would keep dancing and keep dancing in the way that she always did. ”Ye should just get rid ae yer drink if its stoppin’ ye fae dancin’,” she told Sky, noting that the girl wasn’t dancing to the same degree as she was and perhaps it was the drink in her hand that was preventing her from doing so.

Skylar has been so lost in the song she almost didn’t hear Luisaidh reply to her comment, but when she did, it left Skylar feeling even more confused. “Who on earth are the Weird Sisters??“ she asked Liusaidh, though she had to stifle a laugh, since the name was pretty funny. Unfortunately, being Muggleborn meant this was just another obstacle she had to overcome; not being in the loop about all the current ‘magical’ news, so she was pretty sure she’d look like a complete idiot to Liusaidh for not knowing this. But over the course of the semester she’d gotten pretty used to it, so it was no longer as embarrassing as it had once been.

She also heard Liusaidh comment on her finishing her drink, which she realised was actually a pretty good idea, so she quickly finished it in just a few seconds, before quickly ducking off to throw it in one of the bins provided before coming back to the dance floor to dance some more with Liusaidh, this time getting a lot more into it now she had no drink to look out for.

”They're a super old band from England,” she told the girl, knowing that it was unlikely most had any knowledge of them. ”Ma da loves them,” she then added, she liked them too, but she liked them because her dad liked them and they had been a part of what she’d enjoyed growing up, perhaps not just because she liked them on their own merit. She was glad that Sky put down her drink and they could just dance the night away. She was definitely un-keen to stop, unless that was if a slow song came on. She didn’t have any patience for that.

As Liusaidh answered Skylar’s question, Skylar felt a bit better about herself, since it seemed the band was pretty old, so it wasn’t her lack of modern, magic-related knowledge that meant she hadn’t known the band. As Liusaidh said her dad also enjoyed it, she smiled, thinking back to her own music and how she shared a similar musical taste to her father as well. Surprisingly enough, it was actually pretty similar to what it seemed the other girl liked; older rather than newer. “Hey, that’s pretty cool that you like that kind of music!” Skylar said with a smile, glad to see another common thing between the her and Liusaidh. “Though my taste is definitely more muggle related...” she finished with a grin, referring back to how she hadn’t known who the Weird Sisters were.
