taking a break

Alex laughed. 'Well, I wouldn't go as far as saying swim there but splash about, tease the first years about beasties, push people in it, sure'Alex said before remembering another one. 'ruining your homework another pretty good one. Ever tried handing in a dripping wet paper?'Alex asked ebfore laughing at the memory of it.

Cyndi laughed as Alex told her about the things they did at his school. "I could just imagine handing a wet paper in to Professor King or Professor Manteia" Cyndi said with a giggle as she pictured placing a dripping wet paper on either of those professor's desks. She knew they would definitely not be amused.

Alex laughed at the thought of Prof Kings face if that ever happened. He was sure someone must of done that. 'A detention to follow probably'Alex said though he didn't care.

"For at least a week" Cyndi added. She laid on her back and began to float, looking up to the sky.

((Oh holy crow... I'm so sorry...I completely forgot about being in this :ph43r: Let's just say that Kat scooted off unnoticed. She's already had one encounter with the squid and shark and really doesn't want another :oy: Again...I'm really sorry :( ))

(lol. ok )

Alex smiled before wondering where the mermaid had gone. He hoped he hadn't gone a scared her off after her coming all the way up for company--or food. Alex laughed at the thought and took a big breath. Holding it, he slipped under water and looked about. This lake was pretty empty from litter, he thought only picking up about one book that had been dropped by some first year. It had already begun to get some seaweed on it. He surfaced and threw it over at Cyndi crating a big splash over her. Alex laughed.

((no prob))

Cyndi continued to float, wondering if the mermaid had grew tired of them and left or if she was waiting for the perfect moment. She looked up to see what Alex was doing, and was met by a big splash, right in her face. As she wiped the water off her face, Cyndi saw a book move past her. She saw him laughing at her and at once, Cyndi decided to get him back. She shook her head, took a deep breath and dove under the water.

Cyndi began to swim toward him, planning to grab his leg and pull him under. Cyndi reached his leg and gave him a tug, hoping she would startle him.

Alex had still been laughing unnoticed to what Cyndi was doing. He calmed himself down before seeing Cyndi had gone. A sudden tug on his leg told him where she was thoguh. Alex landed under water on his back with Cyndi there looking at him. He frowned, surfacing for a breath before caming his nerves. He laughed again sending a splash in Cyndi direction.

Cyndi surfaced and began laughing at Alex. "Did I scare you?" she asked, hoping she had.

Alex laughed rolling his eyes. 'Yeah, absouloutely. I really care soo much that you tried to drown yourself'Alex said sarcastically, looking serious before grinning. 'No, you wish. Takes more than that to scare moi'Alex said back to her.

Cyndi shrugged her shoulders. "It was worth a shot" she said with a mischievous smile on her face.

Alex rolled his eyes, laughing. 'Whateva'he joked smiling. 'Race ye to umm'Alex circled round trying to find a challenge. He saw a tree that looked different about 300yards away. '..there'he challenged Cyndi pointing to the tree smirking wondering if she would take up the challenge.

Cyndi listened to Alex issue her a challenge. As she was not one to turn down a challenge, Cyndi smiled and nodded. "The tree? ok. What do I get when I beat you?" Cyndi said with a giggle as she got ready. The tree looked pretty far away, but she was a pretty good swimmer and wondered if Alex knew what he was getting himself into.

'The joy of doing something noone else can'Alex joked smiling. 'I don't know'ALex said before searching his pockets for anything that could be in there. 'A stone?'he offered, producing an amethyst in his hand. Of course Alex had no idea what it was. It gave no value to him.

Cyndi giggled. "That stone sure is nice"she said as she looked at it. She didn't know what it was but it was a pretty color.

Cyndi readied herself for the long swim ahead. "Ok. On 3?" she asked.

ALex smiled and found a large stone that he would kick off. 'On 3's fine'he said before flexing his hands. '1, 2, 3.'Alex said before kicking off the stone and gliding along the water before he started at a steady rythm of front crawl. He kept his breath even not wanting to go to fast at the start. He was a strong swimmer but speed wasn't really his thing for swimming.

Cyndi found something to kick off and placed one foot on it. She listened to Alex's count, and at 3, she pushed off the thing and began swimming. As it was a pretty far distance away, Cyndi tried to pace herself, planning to save herself until the last couple of dozen yards.

For now, she just planned on trying to keep pace with Alex. As Cyndi took a breath and looked to the side, she saw that she was pretty even with him.

Alex kept a steady pace, glad he was actually doing it for that long already. He looked over at Cyndi who seemed to be a little in front of him. Alex smiled, and made his pulls catch the water harder underneath, guessing he had covered at least 10 odd metres already.

Cyndi continued to swim, and as she went to take a breath, she noticed that she was maybe a head in front of Alex. She felt good as if she could continue for a while longer, but as she came up for another breath, realized that they were only about a third of the way done. That tree sure is far, Cyndi thought to herself as she continued to push on.

Alex's legs were growing tired from kicking so much and he knew he wasn't that near it yet. About another 3 minutes. He looked over to Cyndi seeing he was basically on the same pace as her. He kicked his legs at the same time changing stroke to his favourite one. Butterfly. It was his easiest and his fastest. Bringing his arms over his head, he pushed the water hard back and letting his body weave in the water, smiling.

Cyndi continued to swim, but her arms were growing extremely tired from doing freestroke. As she looked over at Alex, she saw that he had switched strokes and that she was beginning to fall behind. Cyndi didn't know any other stroke as well, so she just kept pressing on. They were getting closer every second and were about half way done and Cyndi knew that the race would be over soon enough.

Alex kept swimming, keeping himself relaxed. He noticed Cyndi was falling behind. He smiled knwoing he was rising to the challenge he made himself.

(who's gonna win this in the end then? coz this i sgoing like nowhere fast)

Cyndi continued to swim even though she was falling behind more and more with each stroke. As much as she hated to admit it, Alex pretty much had this in the bag. All he had to do was finish it. Cyndi was determined to finish the race even if it took her all day, so she switched to backstroke and kept going.

((You seem to be ahead now, so it'll make more sense for you to win. ;) It doesnt' seem like the mermaid is coming back either. :( ))

Alex stopped for a breath when he saw Cyndi behind him he smiled and went back to front crawl going much faster since they were nearly at the end. He kicked hard before feeling stones scrapping against him. He stopped and stood up, tired out from the simming sprint he had just done. He went over to the tree, his cheeks slightly coloured and waited for Cyndi to finish up smiling that he had won. He layed back with his hands behind his head bored.

Cyndi heard Alex speed up and figured that he was close to the end. She continued to swim until she finished too, and saw that he was already laying down. Cyndi walked toward him, ringing out her shirt as she did so.

"Remind me never to accept another challenge from you" Cyndi said with a smirk as she dropped down beside him. The swim had been long and she was really tired.
