Vex had been newly named by the headmistress, and so it was time to have some fun. He had his faithful kettle with him, naturally, as he couldn't quite bring himself to leave it. However, he was without his trumpets today. The poltergeist had ventured his way all through the school and the grounds, thinking of new and exciting was to fix up this mess. He only had a few issues, of course, and one of them were all these holes in the doors! It was far too drafty, and they should be plugged up quickly.

"POP!"

Vex rolled out the large ball of gum with his long tongue, and dropped it into his palm. A small portion was removed, and he stuck it into the keyhole, giggling. He had worked his way up the entire corridor, turning portraits backwards, upside-down, and even diagonal along the way. All keyholes along the corridor were blocked up, and there were only a few left. The gum was shoved back in his mouth and he continued along, swinging his flower-covered kettle as he went.

A mention of something mischievous hanging around the castle was mentioned at the beginning of the year. Daisy had no clue what it even was, and the thought hadn't crossed her mind since. The young Gryffindor was enjoying her time so far at the school, and though the year had barely even started, Daisy was eager to learn all she could. Luckily for her, she had managed to walk through a door that hadn't yet been clogged up, one that a certain poltergeist hadn't gotten to.
Daisy's eyes took a moment to register what she was seeing. "Ahh!" She exclaimed, now remembering what she was seeing, but her brain still not quite making sense of it.

"POP!"

Vex was just about to move along to another door, when his concentration was rudely interrupted by a yell. With the bubblegum splattered across his lips and cheeks, he hovered above the smallish girl, upside-down, and began screaming at her, as if she had managed to scare him, herself. His scream reverberated through the halls, shaking the glass of the windows, before he abruptly cut himself off and circled around the young girl. However, once this grew boring he stopped and grinned mischievously at her, before tipping the cooled tea onto her head, and filling the halls with his hysterical laughter, floating back out of her grasp.

"Ahh! Indeed! Hehe!"

Daisy was taken aback when the ghost-thing screamed back at her. Her eyes were wide and she leaned back slightly, completely shocked. She had just gotten a fright! She started to laugh though as he cut off, and circled around her. Her brown eyes followed him as he went around a few times, the smile still on her face; she was totally enchanted by this being.
The grinning stopped and the shock was back as Daisy felt a cool liquid tipped on her. Her mouth was dropped in an 'o' shape, as the thing moved away. Daisy didn't even know any spells to dry herself off! "You little - !" She stopped short, taking a breath. "Okay. So. What are you?" She started, slowing her breathing down.

Sheridan didn't know what to expect from Slytherin house, but he was happy enough being there. The newly dubbed first year was excited for the classes to begin, but he did feel some anxiety with being away from his family like this - he had cousins here, sure, but he had never really interacted with them at all. It was weird, being in a new school, but this was how it was to be. It was a really weird place, though, as whilst from a strong magical background, he was not used to seeing ghosts around. And especially not the sort of creature that had just appeared in his line of sight.

Truly, he had never seen a poltergeist before, and at first he wasn't even sure if that was what this thing was. He also recognised the thing's victim - that mouthy Gryffindor that had already been causing him trouble. His eyes widened, and mouth dropped as some sort of liquid was poured on her head, and he was utterly gone. Leaning on the wall to support himself, he was nearly folded in half from laughing at her expense.

Laughter reached Daisy's ears, and she flushed pink knowing she probably looked like a wet dog. The brunette looked around and her eyes landed on the stupid - irritating - ridiculous boy that tried to steal her bag. And then threw himself at the floor at sorting! Ugh he was the worst, and of course it had to be him that was there witnessing this, and not another brave lion that would come and rescue her.
But Daisy didn't need rescuing. She could handle this herself! An idea formulated in her head, and she looked for the ghost, using her hand to beckon him over.
Once the ghost got to her, she made sure he was close enough. "You see that boy over there?" Daisy started quietly. "He thinks what you did was really funny. But, he's actually been in a really bad mood lately. Terrible stuff going on with him. He definitely needs some cheering up." She said, hoping that this mischief maker would catch her drift.

Vex's curved ears caught the laughter of the other little person - a boy this time, probably. He wasn't an expert on these things. Whilst the laughter attracted him, the beckoning hand called to him more, and the mischievous little non-being circled the girl with narrowed eyes, that soon found themselves widening. Bad moods were not permitted! His attention span was rarely something incredible, and her previous question got lost in translation as his mind ran abuzz with ways to cheer up the new student more permanently.

The poltergeist was gone for only a few minutes, and came back through the open window just above the boy. He was invisible, but the items he held were not. Cradling several puffapod beans in his arms, along with his kettle, he became visible and threw everything his arms contained into the air, cackling wildly. The beans showered down, falling through the poltergeist, but landing directly on the Slytherin's unsuspecting head, as well as around him. He skilfully caught his kettle before that broke, however and, upside-down once more, bounced around the pair, waiting to here what a good job he had done!

Marzen had just been exploring when laughter and noises attracted his attention. Shying away from the portraits which waved merrily at him from their place on the wall, he turned a corner and stopped dead. Before his eyes items were falling through the air and landing on a poor boy in a slytherin uniform. He looked up and found the source of the "shower", a ghost like being, slightly transparent yet more solid than a ghost was above him and cakaling. Marzen glanced down the corridor and saw a girl who was also drenched and Marzen put two and two together and suspected that this being had caused that as well.

Not wanting to get involved he moved to a door and intended to go through it but it wasn't budging. Trying to remain unnoticed he moved to a door further down but that wouldn't budge either. Great. He decided to back away slowly while the creature was occupied with these two victims.

James had been tasked with helping lost students as one of the Gryffindor prefects, and so he was wandering the corridors trying to actually find any to help. However he soon came across a couple of people talking, some strange noises and a couple of doors that appeared to be jammed. Sensing that this might be trouble, he looked more closely at the door, noting the gum stuck in it and sighing. Taking out his wand he tapped the gum, using a cleansing charm to remove it. Opening the door, he caught the tail end of what looked to be a ghost zooming out of a window. Knowing that the ghosts usually behaved responsibly, apart from the poltergeist that was, that he had heard so much about this year, despite the early time of the term. He already knew the name of it, as such things spread so rapidly in a school, and he decided to call it by name to attract its attention. Shaking his head, he half noticed a girl wet from head to toe nearly, and he sighed slightly. "Oi, Vex! That is not ok, come back here right this moment!"

Mind if I join in? Someone needs to step up and take responsibility. Surely a prefect can be responsible? :r *cough*James*cough*

Sheridan was not amused. He was perfectly willing to laugh as the expense of others, but wasn't one to accept humiliation gracefully, himself. Especially since he was sure that that girl had something to do with it. There were flowers all over him, and around him, and that thing was just bouncing around him like this was good? He started trying to brush flowers off of him, he wasn't even sure what was thrown at him, and glowered as hard as an eleven year old could at the creature, who seemed completely unsympathetic. "What is wrong with you?" he demanded, half-yelling at the thing.

Just to make it all better, a prefect wanders in. Brilliant. Like he was going to do anything. At least he got the name of the thing - Vex - it fit quite well, although Sheri could think of a few more... descriptive names for it. He then turned his eyes on the first year Gryffindor, glaring at her. She had something to do with it, he just knew it.

Daisy couldn't help herself. She burst out laughing at the flowers exploding around the Slytherin boy. As far as she knew, he had gotten off easy. She was covered in cold tea, all he had to do was brush away some flowers, Daisy was definitely need to go shower. She giggled when she saw a boy trying to sneak away, but she didn't bring any attention to him; if he wanted to run he had every right to. The Gryffindor heard one of her Prefects yell after 'Vex'. Okay, so that was it's name. She was going to have to remember that. Daisy was okay really, now that 'Vex' had pelted the Slytherin boy. She narrowed her eyes at the boy who shouted at Vex. Really, that was no way to speak to someone, whether it be ghost or human. "What is wrong with you?" Daisy replied in kind. "He was just trying to cheer you up - because," She paused, trying to stifle her laugh, "I know how miserable you have been lately." Daisy added, trying to pout for good measure.

Everyone is always welcome, James. :D
Vex's attention was taken from the young children rather quickly when a larger specimen revealed themselves. The Hufflepuff was momentarily observed, but the poltergeist had bigger things to worry about - such as, the prefect. They were everywhere, really. With their little badges, dobbing on him to King - it was early in the year, and he already felt stalked by them. And now it felt as if he was being yelled at again! The poltergeist licked the bubblegum from his face and added more in his mouth, chewing as he approached the older Gryffindor, still floating upside down. The other children were all but forgotten.

"Not okay?" he asked, his face turning devious now. He was invisible once more, but his giggling rung through the halls as a large ball of bubblegum went splat on top of the prefect's head. The non-being returned to visibility a few metres from him, before cackling and bouncing around the prefect once more.
