Professor Ava Davershire joined in as the Great Hall filled with cheers and claps, welcoming the new students to each of their houses. Sorting was such an exciting time but Ava bet that many of the first years were relieved that it was over and they now knew where they would be for the next seven years. She remembered fondly back to her sorting day, though Hogwarts New Zealand didn't exist at that time; which was a scary thought and not one that she'd share willingly with everyone.
After the Hall quietened down slightly, Ava removed the sorting stool and hat, not wanting to deny the young witches and wizards of their feast any longer than needed. Approaching the podium, a silence fell over the Hall. "Before we begin the amazing feast that has been prepared for you all, I have a couple more things to say. I am Professor Ava Davershire, and I am the Headmistress - as some of you may know. Our Deputies are Professor Blaze, and Professor Kingsley, and if you don't know your head of house, you will get to meet them soon." Ava said, smiling.
Ava looked at the students, feeling her own stomach grumbling. Sorting had, of course, taken awhile and it was time to wrap things up knowing that the young student's stomachs were probably way more empty than her own. "I hope you have all emptied your brains and are ready for a year of learning - keep out of trouble, but have fun! And now, we eat." Ava grinned at the Hall as the plates filled with food. Ava swiftly made her way back to her seat before filling her plate with some food and turning to the Professors next to her and began chatting.

Students and Professors are welcome and encouraged to post here ^_^

The Sorting Day was very exciting and became the happiest thing as Athena settled down in the Ravenclaw Table. Hundreds of foods appeared on every house tables as the start of year feast had begun. Athena was delighted not because of the event, but the people she's chatting with while eating the delicious foods. Candles were floating below the night sky ceiling which made her think what charm that the Hogwarts Staffs used to make it drift.

Many of Athena's fellow Ravenclaw mates were hailing her because of her pretty face, and her alabaster rosy, yet pale skin tone. She couldn't help herself, but saying thank you with her usual smile. Her ancestors including her parents were dark haired and pulchritudinous, for which she was thankful that she had this physical appearance. Having wavy black hair with light brown eyes was her most favorite, however her mother loves her natural red colored lips, 'unquestionable' why she had that lip color. Some of family members thought that she was very healthy, 'agreed' Athena thought that they were might be right, because in all of her childhood years to present, she had never eat any unhealthy foods.

Meera walked into the Great Hall at Hogwarts. It was really, great. She had put her hair down to hide her face but she still got a few curious looks. She tried to walk without tripping over her robes. They felt so weird. They were black and yellow. She missed her familiar Beauxbatons uniform. The lovely blue colour and the cap. She followed one of the Prefects that showed her her house table. She had been sorted by the legendary Sorting Hat into Hufflepuff house. She did not have a reaction to this. In fact, nothing in this hall room mattered to her right now. The decoration of the floating candles and the enchanted ceiling, it was all remarkable but for now it meant nothing to Meera. She sat beside a foreign face and did not make any conversation. Meera was living on memories these days. She remembered being in this same hall three months back during Tara Sitara's graduation. The hall and everything about the school had been so welcoming then and now, even though it was welcoming, Meera did not want to be here.

She wanted to go back home. She knew she couldn't. For her own safety, she had to stay away from Paris. She looked up as a lady took the podium and said something about being the headmistress. Meera did not care who was in charge. She did not care about anything. When the food showed on the table, Meera glared at the first years who were delighted with the magic. Meera was not hungry. But she knew she had to survive. If she had to fight during a mid night attack she needed her strength. Meera served herself with some vegetables and rice. She ate quietly hoping that all this would end soon and she could go to her room and cry herself to bed.

Having returned to the castle only a few hours before the students began to arrive, the professor's thoughts were still not on school mode. She was thinking of family matters, namely the accident that her brother had been in just a few days before. Her brother was a daredevil, but this time things had caught up with him. Although she knew he was recovering well in England, it didn't stop the woman from worrying. As sorting continued, the professor was lost in her own thoughts, her mind only on the proceedings enough to clap when she heard the word 'Gryffindor' called out by the sorting hat. As Ava took to the stage to welcome the school, Professor Kingsley focused her attention on the tables before her. The Deputy Headmistress nodded her head and gave a slight wave as her name was called, but a smile didn't cross her face until the professor had finished and the food appeared before her. Reaching for some potatoes, the professor turned to her left and began to converse with one of the professors. She hoped that the professor's talk would help to distract her from her own matters.

Enrique had arrived rather early compared to most of the Professors that were seated about him. He'd had to move all of his things into his office, set up his quarters and tend to a few matters around the classroom so they were suited to his liking. It wasn't that it was a mess, but with a few too many books lying about out of their place; a clear sign of the previous professors use of them, Enrique thought it best to put them back in their rightful place, before he lost them amidst paperwork and marking sheets.
Though, the tidy up had hardly taken as long as he had first suspected and setting his things in order only took up another half-an-hour or so - which left him with plenty of time to himself.

He'd managed to find his way to the Astronomy tower and enjoyed the view of the wide open landscape that lay before him. It proved a fantastic place to ponder on his thoughts with a great deal of quiet seeming as though the vast majority of the students were still out of sight. It seemed like only a few minutes that he'd been there, but the sound of the clock tower urging the castle's guests to the Great Hall brought the newcomer out of his absent mindedness.
Trotting down the stairway and rounding down to the first floor, Enrique managed to enter the hall before it was overcome with the presence of new students. He'd found a seat and tucked it under him; the feeling of the weight shifting from his, until now unknown, tired legs.

A younger woman then himself sat to one side of him who seemed deep in thought, pondering on something far different to the events that were commencing before her, however, Enrique paid it little mind. It was hardly his business and so he dared not asking, instead offering her a sincere smile of greeting; one that she may or may not have noted. The gesture was enough; something he felt was common place amongst friendly company.

Though, as the ceremony drew on, it was soon obvious enough that the woman at his side was one of the Deputy's. Soon enough, sorting was tended to and the feast was upon them. Countless trays of beautifully crafted and decorated cakes, sausages, chicken, fruits and salads as far as the eye could see. While he'd experienced a similar thing at Hogwarts Scotland in his time there, he'd forgotten quite how impressive the start of year feast was.
Collecting a few items for himself, he set them down on his plate. A bowl of salad, out of reach for some of the Professors sat an arms reach from him, and so he took it in hand and offered it towards Professor Kingsley. "Salad, Professor?" he asked in a somewhat soft tone, his accent ever present. It was an easy enough way to start conversation - something which the woman clearly needed to keep her mind away from whatever it was she'd been lingering on during the sorting ceremony.
