Sorting Ceremony

Fantine entered the Great Hall, she had gotten separated from her siblings but she was able to keep an eye on them from where she was so that was enough to keep her content and happy. She couldn't believe the day was here that she would be sorted into her house and start her seven years of Hogwarts. Neither of her parents had attended the school but LeAnn had and Fantine was always amazed at the stories LeAnn would tell her of how wonderful the school was when she attended. She listened intently to the Headmistress talk, she was considerate and listened to every word, not like some people who insisted on talking, even after Fantine 'shh'ed them. Shaking her head disapprovingly she drew her attention back to the Headmistress and waited for the sorting to begin.

It wasn't long until there was very few people waited to be sorted, most of them her own family as having a last name that began with Z was a little unfortunate. Soon it was her own time to be sorted, standing up straight she made her way up to the stage and sat on the stool. She wondered if all of her siblings would be separated, some of her cousins were already dotted over different houses, how was she going to look after them if she was in a different house?

Marius Zhefarovich walked into the Great Hall, much from what he had heard from his cousins that lived at the Zhefarovich Manor while he spent some summers there with his father and family. It was amazing on how his father could love him, since he was definitely not a pure-blood. From the stories that he heard, he was just glad to be alive. Since the women could not transform, they were a little more accepted. Marius, on the other hand, didn't like his blood status that much, but he would have to make sure that it all stays quiet. He was perhaps the only generation to have this sort of status within the family. He and his siblings. He wanted his father to be alive though. Arnost died so long ago, it was not fair. Oh well, what could he do? Andrew was a great father to him, but it was still just something about Arnost that made him feel not so out of place. It was probably because he was just like his dad in so many ways, and he often drove his mother crazy with his witty remarks that could only come from Arnost. That was what his middle name should have been.

"Zhefarovich, Marius!" Marius once stood next to his brother, but his brother was sorted before he was because of the name. He let out a sigh and he walked up to the stool. He sat down and looked at the different family members he could recognize from all the way up here. Marius recalled just talking to his brother for a few minutes during the ceremony, but he was all alone now. He didn't care to come to this school, but he knew the reason why. His half sister went here, and he also had a lot of family attending here. He could meet the ones that he had yet to meet, like any of the Styx family. Marius looked up at the hat as it was placed on his blonde head. He waited to be sorted, but he was impatient. He wanted to join his new house. Immediately.

Lexi ran her fingers through her light hair as her name was called up. She would be sorted today and with a family that was such a melting pot it would be easy to understand why she might not know what to expect for herself in the form of a Hogwarts House. So much of her family were Slytherins while a fair amount were Hufflepuffs and her namesake had been a Gryffindor so it would be hard to say what she would get because she was only eleven and she didn't know herself too well yet. How on earth would a hat know her if she couldn't tell this herself but still she walked through the queue, admittedly wishing that her big brother could be here to watch her in this moment but Jay had graduated and so when she sat she felt extremely anxious as so many sets of eyes were on her. What was a girl to do but to wish this would be over as soon as possible?

Her bright eyes closed to block it out and she waited. 'I don't care which house you put me in, just get me off this stage, please!' she thought, uncertain what the Hat could really see or hear but she still wished for it anyway.

Desislav Zhefarovich stood at his brother's elbow, poking him every few moments to look at the suit of armor or the paintings that moved as they walked to the Great Hall. They were finally here! LeAnn had told them so much about the school but the boy didn't think that she'd been telling the truth about everything since she sometimes liked to kid with them. She had been though.

Stepping near the area where the sorting hat was, Desislav poked his brother again. "Do you think it really talks?" he asked. A moment later, it did and he shut up for the first time to hear it. In awe, the boy walked up to the stage when his name was called. "This is so cool!"he whispered to himself as the hat was placed on his head. He had no idea where he would be placed. LeAnn has been in Gryffindor but he didn't know if that was the best house for him. With a shrug, Desi just waited to see where the hat would place him. He tried not to think of anything, wondering if that would help the hat's job easier but images of food kept drifting into his head.

Asa stood close to his brother, finding this entire thing to be utterly exciting. With arms linked with the boy he had grown up with his entire (short) life, he saw fit to point out everything, just as his brother was. The young boy's eyes were wide with wonder and excitement, and he maneuverer himself and his brother through the crowd towards the front, looking for his sister. The only reason they were here was because she was teaching here now, otherwise they would probably be in Beauxbatons, or Durmstrang, or somewhere as equally cold and boring. No, this place was much more interesting. Hopefully, while they were here, he and his brother could finally figure out which founder they liked the most. They had already cut out Ravenclaw, because she sounded way too smart to be liked much. Hufflepuff was a close one, but eventually it was decided that it was between Gryffindor and Slytherin. All four had flaws, but so far Slytherin and Gryffindor were a little higher than Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff. Asa was still not sure, however, and he hoped that this nagging question would some day be answered.

The brunette ran a hand through his hair, and then tugged on his brother's arm. "Hey, look at that!" He tried to bring his brother's attention to a floating candle, before wildly pointing to another interesting thing. "Look at that!" And before he knew it, he was pointing at everything. From the table clothes to the shoes being worn by some Ravenclaw near the front. Everything was interesting.. When he found his sister, however, he pulled on his brother's arm with even more force to make sure he too saw Lizzie sitting over there, being all professional and business-like. It was so awesome having a sister here. Maybe this meant they could get help on homework, and extensions in her classes. Did she even have them? It didn't matter, she could still be their go-to professor anyway. She would have to put up with them regardless.

Asa could usually keep himself controlled when need be, to avoid blatantly embarrassing his family, but when it came to waiting for this sorting thing, it was almost impossible. Sure, his name started with A, and he was grateful for that, but it was hard. All that made him feel better that he could have been stuck with some crazy last name that began with Z. He would have died just waiting for his name. In fact, he would probably need to have a seat otherwise he would probably just drop dead from standing for too long. The young Arlett looked at his brother, and shrugged slightly, knowing that he would be sorted first. Asa was before Macy, as A was before m in the alphabet. "How crazy would it be if our names were Zac and Zeal Zyzenovski?" he snickered, shaking his head. "Might as well not bother being sorted. You'd already have graduated." He shook his head as he chuckled quietly, but abruptly stopped when he heard his name being called. He stood paused for a moment, before releasing his brother and dashing up the steps to sit down and have the hat placed on his head. his mind was running at a million miles per hour, and perhaps the thought that the hat may have some trouble figuring everything out did come to him, but he quickly shrugged it off. The hat looked about as old as the castle, it was probably a professional at this sort of stuff.

With his arm linked to his brother's, Macy Arlett skipped in excitement as he followed his fellow first years to the great hall. Honestly, he knew little about Hogwarts, being that his sister and the rest of his siblings had attended a different school. But what he knew was enough to get him to eventually push the slower first years to get them to quicken their pace. He just couldn't wait to be sorted. Their older sister attended Durmstrang and they probably would have attended it too if she did not get the job at Hogwarts. Nevertheless, that was in the past. He was at Hogwarts now, and he just couldn't wait to know which house he will be in.

All the preparations that he did prior to the trip to the school, however, were not enough to prepare him for what he saw upon entering the hall. He was from a magical family and he had been surrounded by magic all his life, but Hogwarts was... beyond magical. It was wonderful really. It seemed, however, that he was not the only one amazed by all of these. He grinned as he turned his attention to his brother, his expression mirroring the other's. He followed the other's fingers, exclaiming 'yes' and 'ah' and 'cool' at almost everything. "We need to have that in our house. Forget that, I need that in our room. It will be really cool!," he announced quite loudly, pointing at almost everything around his too. He smirked when their eyes found their sister. He sniggered. Elizabeth looked really business-like sitting over there. He hoped she'd be their professor. It would be easier to ask for extensions if she was.

If he was already amazed by the scene, he was even more awed when the sorting started. He knew about the sorting process. Merlin, he and his twin even knew about the founders of the school, often having arguments about which founder is better though often ending up being undecided. Seeing the sorting process, first hand, was different from reading about it.

This was one of those times that he was really grateful that his surname starts with 'A'. At least, he did not have to wait that long to be sorted. No. He would probably die while waiting. If his surname starts with a 'Z" or anything close to that, then forget all the rules about the alphabetical sorting, he would run to the front and demand himself to be sorted right away. The eleven year old swayed on his feet. He couldn't stand still while waiting for the sorting hat to finish its song. Alright. He liked the hat. He even wanted to bring it home. But he wanted to be sorted too. He laughed at his brother's comment. "Is it done yet?" He muttered, crossing his arms in front of his chest as he tried to get a good view of what was happening.

The eleven yeas old grinned as the sorting hat finished doing its thing. His twin brother, Asa, would have go first before him though. Not that that mattered. "Your turn," he told his twin as he heard the other's name being called. As he watched the other, he couldn't help but feel a little nervous too. He did not have any preferences when it comes to the houses, but he did want to be on the same house as his brother. He couldn't imagine having to sleep at night without talking to Asa. Though he does not have any problem connecting with people, it would not be as fun without his twin.

"Arlett, Macy"

He heard his name. He cursed silently, though quickly covered his mouth upon realizing what he did. His sister, Eli, would not be pleased should she hear him. Taking a deep breath and squaring his shoulder, he started walking. In an attempt to look confident though, he ended up looking awkward with the way that he kept on taking large steps and with his head held high. "Okay. Bring it on silly hat," he said, almost monotonously, as the hat was brought down on his head. "Put me in my brother's house and I'll give you candies," he thought, waiting for the hat to announce his house. Hopefully, it was convinced. Candies can be good bribing materials after all.

Acacia stood in the Great Hall of Hogwarts, patiently awaiting her turn to be sorted. She had dreamt of this moment for years, and couldn't believe that it was finally happening. As the girl who stood next to her approached the hat, Acacia's nerves ran wild. What house would she be sorted into? She caught her breath as her name was called, and trembled slightly as she approached the podium. Sitting on the stood, she felt the hat fall onto her head, and smiled to herself. This was it
