Snooping

When Ella realized that her roommate Kat had decided to join them in the forest, all of the colour vanished from Ella's face. Uh oh, I knew that coming here would lead to something bad. Maybe she just wants to join us to socialize, Ella thought as the other Gryffindor girl cleared her throat. Nope, she definitely didn't come out here to join us for a chat, she panicked as Kat gave them a short lecture about knowing better than to be in the forest.

"Uh, I was just in here picking flowers to decorate my part of the dorm with. But then I ran into these two girl and we started talking," Ella responded quietly while looking at the forest floor. "You can have the bouquet, if you want?" She asked and held out the flowers to Kat, hoping to avoid any further trouble.

Kat had no intention of turning any of the girls in for a detention. Not going that route again she thought a little sourly, but then returned her attention to the matter at hand. "Thanks Ella, but I think I'll let you keep your bouquet!" she said warmly to the girl and then looked at the other two, whom she didn't know. Kat addressed all three of them saying, "I'm going to turn and leave now and I think it would be best if you three follow me. It's not safe in here and I know that you've all been told the rules." This was the part that she hated about being a prefect...there were times when she had to be a stick in the mud and that sucked. She really hoped that the other two girls wouldn't give her any flack about this, but as she had never met either of them she wasn't too sure how they would react.

Alexandra was caught off guard when the elder girl approached them all. They were doing no harm, and she was angry they had been rudely interrupted. The roots of her hair began to turn a bright, fiery red, and her cheeks reddened as well. "What's your business in coming and rudely interrupting our conversation? How do you know we weren't talking about anything private?" She said calmly, but still anger shook her voice. Alex had become short tempered as of late, and she wasn't sure why.

Kat was wide-eyed at the girls reaction. So much for handling this the easy way she thought to herself, nostrils flaring slightly. Deciding to be calm and collected she took a deep breath and said nicely, "I assure you that it was not my intention to be rude, but it is however my duty to make sure that people follow the rules. You can adequately continue your conversation outside of the forest just as easily as you can in here and I assure you it's much safer out there."

Isabella was going to happily oblige to the girl's request that they leave and suggest that they move their conversation somewhere else if they wanted to, when Alexandra responded rudely to the Prefect. Isabella rolled her eyes at her and gave her a look for her to shut up. They might've gotten away without any form of punishment and she had to ruin it. "Quiet Alexandra," Isabella whispered to her warningly.

"Don't tell me what to do!" Alexandra shot at Isabella, when she was given directions. "I'll see you later Ella," Alexandra said, fumed. She then stormed off, only far enough for the trees to consume her appearance. She slid behind a tree, and concealed herself as she had been before, with her brown skin and hair, only this time she would be sure of her surroundings so nobody else could bump into her.

Kat didn't particularly care for the young girls attitude, but when she dismissed herself Kat just merely watched her walk out. She turned to both Ella and the other girl and said, "Sorry to be a killjoy, but I'm just trying to follow the rules." Kat felt like such a downer, but it was her duty as a prefect to make sure that other adhered to the rules...in fact the new Head Boy and Head Girl had just had a meeting on it. "If you guys will just follow me...I don't want to be in here any longer than necessary." she said as she turned and headed out of the Forbidden Forest.

Ella, who was surprised at Alexandra's reaction to Katalina's suggestion of leaving the forest, just stared at the ground until Alexandra decided to storm off. Great, Ella thought, this happens just when we were all starting to get along! She looked from Kat to Isabella, shrugged her shoulders, and followed Kat. While she was following Kat out of the forest, Ella snuck off to look for Alexandra.

"I thought she went this way..." Ella grumbled to herself as she searched for Alexandra without any success. I'll look around for a few more seconds, and if I don't find her I'll head back to the other girls.. Staring at the ground in attempt to look for footprints as she walked, Ella bumped into something again, "Ah, crap!"

Alex grunted as something walked into her, yet again! She probably hadn't been paying as much attention as she thought she was. Alex wasn't as surprised to see it was Ella that bumped into her, she seemed to make a habit of it. "You alright, again?" She asked, with a small grin creeping across her face, as she stuck her hand out to help her friend up.

She hoped that she could remain friends with Ella. Isabella, was something else. Alex didn't like being bossed around by someone who was probably younger than her. Alexandra had forgotten that she didn't change herself back, so she probably still blended in with the tree she was standing in front of.

Ella didn't notice it was a person she had bumped into until she heard a voice. Oh great, would it be possible to look any stupider? She recognized the voice as Alexandra's, and looked up to give her an apologetic smile. She noticed Alexandra was holding her hand out, but the hand definitely did not look like it belonged to the Slytherin girl. Ella grabbed the hand anyways and pulled herself up, only too see that Alexandra looked very much like the colours of the tree she was standing beside.

"Whoa... You look like a.... A tree," Was all Ella managed to say as she stared at the Slytherin girl.

Alexandra gasped, having forgotten to change herself back. I might as well tell her, that's twice now. She seems harmless enough. "Um, yeah. I guess I do." She chuckled, then paused, taking a deep breath as she changed herself normal, once more that night. "You've probably guessed it by now, but I'm a metamorphmagus. Please don't tell." Alex said, with a hopeful look on her face, that wasn't faked.

Thearus had been watching the girls for some time and, as they were leaving gave a small smile. He was glad they were being led out, for if not he would have to do the "warning of going deeper into forest", maybe even pointing the sword at one if they threatened him. Then just as he was about to turn and walk back, One just has to ruin it by storming off and then the other running after them.

He gave a slight sigh, then he trotted over to them. He moved his self around to face them then spoke in the half mystic half commanding voice "Were you not supposed to be following her?" He motioned over to the girl walking out before continuing, "If not.. I must warn you not to go any further for it is our land and we share it with creatures that......are not tolerant of children".

Kat was glad to see that the girls were following her instruction and she herself turned to walk out of the forest, seeing one of the dark haired Slytherins making her way back up to the castle. She was nearly clear of the wooded area when she heard voices and thought to herself Ugh sweet Merlin why don't they just bloody fence this area off? It would make things so much easier on everyone and make it harder for people to get in here. Fuming mad and more than a little ticked off at the entire situation she headed in the direction of the voices, wand grasped tightly in her right hand.

When she got nearer she recognized the who the voices were coming from she snapped, "I thought I told you two to..." Out of the corner of her eye she spotted something large and hairy. She turned to the creature and grasped her wand more firmly and held it a little higher in front of her, "I've got them from here. And they really aren't that far into the forest, so I don't think that you were necessarily needed." Kat wasn't trying to be rude to the creature, but the large creatures honestly scared the snot out of her.

She turned to the two girls and said, "I think NOW would be an appropriate time to exit."

Thearus would say he was a fair centaur, and he was but one thing they jsut didnt take to was rudeness, and it had come from a child!. Even if it did have some authority and when he saw her grab her wand his hand slipped over the hilt of his long sword.

"You had them from there a moment before" his voice keeping even as he moved his other hand in the direction of where they were. "And It is my duty to protect the forest, and the students that wander within and id rather not have to chase after them and kill some beast that I would not normally have to". He was watching her wand, his eyes set on it in a stony gaze. If she dared move against him, he would have no choice. His grip tight on the hilt.

Kat didn't need to be looking directly at the magnificent beast to know that it was nearing the verge of drawing it's sword. She grasped her wand even tighter than she had before and started to push the two girls back slightly. "And I've still got them now sir. I'm just doing my duty as a school prefect and I would appreciate if you would let me do as such. They won't be a bother anymore I can assure of that." she replied, her nostrils flaring slightly. If there was anything that Kat hated more it was being told how to do her job...which was exactly what this centaur was trying to do. She normally had a great respect for all creatures, but this one was getting under her skin, though she was in fear for Ella, herself, and the young Slytherin girl.

Thearus realized how rude he himself had acted and after a moments pause from her speech he lifted his hand from the hilt, crossed it across his body and bowed low and deep and remained there while saying, "Forgive me, I mean not to tell you how to fulfill your duty". He raised his head just enough to see the wand. He had seen what these could do and though it was in the hands of a child, he was cautious of it wondering if she would lower it soon.

Kat lowered her wand cautiously to waist height, still not really trusting this creature completely, but giving him the benefit of the doubt. She felt a little silly when he bowed to her as she didn't really feel it was necessary, but not wanting to be rude she gave a small curtsy in return. "And I too am sorry," she said meekly with a polite grin to the centaur. "Urm, I should probably get these two back up to the castle now, but thank you kindly sir centaur for your...umm...help," Kat added awkwardly as she turned to the two girls, urging them to move back out of the forest, hoping they would get the hint.

He thought about asking their names but seeing how uncomfortably she seemed he thought it best not to. He rose from the bow and and she said about the help he said with a slight almost Hypnotizing chuckle "I don't think i've been more help then making things awkward" then, dipping his head once more, he started retreating backwards through the trees.

Kat watched as the majestic creature made his way back deeper in to the forest. "Not really awkward..." she called after him, but then breathed a huge sigh of relief. She then nearly instantaneously turned on the two girls behind her. Her eyes had a menacing gleam about them and her face was red with anger. She had never been so mad at two fellow students in her time here. "You two. That way. Now." she said, enunciating each syllable precisely as she pointed to the break in the trees just a few yards away. Kat could not believe that the two, especially Ella, had been so careless and thoughtless. If she knew that she herself wouldn't get into trouble for being in the forest she would have reported them both to their head of house, but that wasn't going to happen.

"Don't worry, I won't tell anybody," Ella replied to Alexandra, happy to have become friends enough with her to have her trust Ella with knowing her ability. But before she could say anything else to her new friend, both a centaur and Kat seemed to have found them.

Ella had never actually seen a centaur before, so naturally she was shocked by his appearance. Just as Ella was about to give the creature a one word reply to it's rather rude greeting, it seemed Kat had decided to take over and have a conversation with him. Although Ella should have been grateful to Kat for getting them out of trouble with the Centaur, she was angry. Who does she think she is? Demanding us to leave the forest when she came in here herself as well!

Deciding to put her shyness behind her, Ella crossed her arms and made a face. "Thanks alot! You didn't even give us the chance to get a word in!"

Thearus looked over to the other girl who seemed to be rather upset and stepped forward to her. "And who might you be curious one?" . His head was silghtly tilted to the side as he watched her.

Alexandra became slightly confused, when the centaur came, but she didn't feel threatened or in danger of any sort with him mentioning other creatures without tolerance for students. She didn't say anything, but rolled her eyes when Katalina came back, more angry than ever at them, but was impressed when Ella stood up for themselves.

She simply watched as the centaur started talking to Ella, deciding right now it wasn't the best time to start talking, and hoping that somehow she could escape from Katalina, then find a way to sneak Ella away. It was dark, and Alexandra was still near the big brown tree, but right now, she had to wait before escaping the prefect. If they didn't run away back to the castle, without the prefect, then she was sure to report them both to their HOH's.

Ella was thoroughly surprised when the centaur seemed to address her. Feeling her face turn a bright shade of red or pink, Ella snuck a glance at Katalina, even though she knew that Kat was most likely extremely angry with her. Ella then glanced at Alexandra, and wondered how much trouble they were in.

Looking back to the centaur, Ella gave a rather squeaky greeting. "Hello, my name is Ella!"

He looked at her cautiously for another few moments before saying, "Nice to meet you..." He bowed his head slightly, which isnt a common practice for centaurs to do to humans but all the same.

He looked around at the group for a moment longer, "Did you want to stay a while or leave..Of leaving I could escort you if you so wished?"

Ella jumped when the centaur bowed his head and spoke to her in a friendly fashion, something she wasn't expecting, especially after his exchange with Kat. In an attempt to cover up the fact that she had jumped, Ella kicked around a few stones in the dirt. Almost forgetting that the centaur addressed the group again, she looked back to him. I have no idea what to say. Regardless of what happens, I know at least one person is going to be angry.

Ella smiled at the centaur, not giving him an answer. Instead, she turned to Alexandra and shrugged, wondering if she was ready to head back to the castle or not.
