Sixth Years: Lesson Three

Professor Styx leaned against the desk as he made sure that the classroom was dark enough for his tastes. After all, he needed it in order to focus and not get a headache. He also preferred to have a gloomy atmosphere. It would be a contradiction to what he was teaching the sixth years today. He hated this lesson, but he was sure the professors before him loved it, including his wife. He would never understand why, but so it goes. He watched as the sixth years walked in the classroom, and once it was time for the lesson to begin, Styx waved his hand and the door closed with a click. "It seemed like some of you are naturals at Transfiguration, and others, not so much. However, most of you passed with clear water so we are going on to the next topic at hand."

Styx took out his wand to get ready to conjure a flower. He sighed, and used the spell to conjure a single flower, a snapdragon. "You may want to use this to impress others, including partners or family members. Or you are passionate about plants. Regardless, the type of flower you conjure is only limited to what you can picture. When you intone the spell, you will need to visualize in your mind's eye of the stem, the leaves, the petals. Every little detail counts for this spell to succeed. Once you have the image in your mind, intone the incantation Orchideous, and the flower should appear. If you manage to conjure a single flower, a bouquet should be your goal from there."

He made the snapdragon vanish, and waved his wand at the board to show images of lilies, orchids, roses, and tulips. The incantation 'Orchideous' also appeared on the stop, written in neat chalk. "You pronounce the incantation as 'Orchideous'. I will not force you to sound it out like first years. For the rest of the lesson, conjure one of the flowers on the board. Once you are done, I will inspect it, and if I find it suitable, you are free to leave. Now, begin."
Assignment: RP the lesson.

The Valentine's dance had been more eyeopening than he could have prepared for honestly. He had not gone in with the intention of admitting everything with Snowdrop to Kael, but by the end of the night it just made sense. What he hadn't expected was being corner by Hinata later that night as they were trying to leave and being bombarded with so many questions he's still trying to figure out what he had potentially agreed to. He can barely remember the conversation it had happened so rapidly. The worst part was that it was in English, so he really has no excuse for nothing able to follow it other than the cousins just somehow speaking telepathically. For his benefit of course Mikael had tried to pawn her off, but Hinata had not allowed it and he continued to pester them all the way to the Gryffindor Common Room, and then Mikael had been forced to take her back to her common room as well. When he'd woken in the morning he'd had a terrible headache about it.

He watches as Styx conjures a snapdragon, which honestly kind of tracks for the kind of flower the man would like, since they are supposed to represent deception and deviousness and honestly he can believe it of the man, he's ancient basically so he's surely got some secrets in there. He has always enjoyed challenges and conjuring a flower from thin air seems like it would be a particularly rewarding one, especially if he's able to show Mikael, maybe his boyfriend will appreciate something like that? He hopes so. Elio closes his eyes as Styx talks about the importance of visualisation, thinking about the kind of flower that Mikael might like. Not something too obvious, like a rose, because roses are boring, but not something like a snapdragon either. Something that represents strength, passion, and what Mikael means to him. Something that shows he's paying attention. His mind offers various suggestions, but he settles on something meaningful, the image of the Korean Rose filling his mind. He raises his wand and focuses, whispering "Orchideous" with determination. To his surprise, the flower takes shape before him, crisp and clear and he examines it for any flaws. It's not perfect, but it doesnt have to be because neither is he and neither is Mikael, but it's clear what it is. He glances at Styx as the lesson ends, heading out to find Mikael so he can show him his gift.

Savannah was looking forward to the end of the semester, and they were only mid-way through. It was just proving to be a lot of work for her to do, and she wasn’t sure she was balancing it as well as she could. She knew that it would just be nice to only have to worry about one or two things, rather than the seemingly endless list of things that she had on going. The ravenclaw was gettiing herself together, grabbing her notes and her homework, at least pleased that the level of work they were doing was good and interesting. She got the last bits and pieces together and then headed out of the room and to class.

Savannah walked into the transfiguration classroom and took the same spot in the room as before. She looked at the professor as the man got started, telling them they’d be conjuring flowers. She watched the professor as he told them how to do it, and then just let them get started. She picked a tulip as the flower to conjure. She did the wand motion, thinking of the tulip and said, ”Orchideous,” it took a few attempts to get anything and then a few more to get anything good, but she did eventually get one that was good. She spent the whole lesson practicing, and then when she could packed up her things and headed out of the room.[/B]

Leah yawned as she made her way down to the fifth floor. She had patrols last night and hardly got any sleep. Then she had tossed and turned most of the night as she tried to think of tips to give Chase for the next quidditch game. All that had made her pretty useless as she stumbled into class and took a seat. She hoped they might be doing something exciting today to keep her more engaged but it seemed to be more of the same. She tried to pay attention as the professor explained the spell but she found her mind wandering. Then it was their turn to practice which at least kept her from falling asleep at her desk completely. She pulled out her wand and got to work trying to summon some flowers. She first tried for a few roses and managed a few sad blooms before trying something else. By the end of class she had a bouquet but it wasn’t exactly the prettiest. But there was plenty of time for improvement. First she needed a nap once they were dismissed.
