Sixth Years, Lesson Four

"Good Morning Sixth year, I hope you've had a pleasant week, and I'm glad to say, that I got no reports of seemingly disappearing first years." He said, making his way to stand in front of the table of exceedingly dense cakes. "I do hope however that you did practice last week's spell" He looked around at the class. Smiling at them. He wanted to just get started, they didn’t have much to cover and he wanted to be sure everyone got a shot at practicing.

"If you did the reading, you'll know that today we will be looking at the Hover charm," He said with a smile, making his way around the back of the table and putting down his mug. He walked back to the front, his wand in hand. "It is a levitation charm as the name would suggest, and works much like Planerio or Wingardium Leviosa. What sets it apart, is that it is a lot stronger." Professor Haden had discovered he did this thing he called pacing. Walking back and forth as he spoke, so that he was in front of all the rows at one point.

"Applied correctly, the Hover Charm will allow you to levitate something heavy, something possibly even heavier than a human. Perhaps useful for the prefects." Misha said moving to stand at the side of the cakes. He waved his wand, and the entire table, plus the cakes were raised off the ground. He looked to the class and smiled. Before placing it back onto the ground. "Today's task is simple. There is a cake for everyone, levitate it." He gave another wave of his wand, and all the cakes went to be on the tables in front of the students. "There is also a box of knives sitting on my table, using the hover charm, or the summoning charm you learned as first years, take a knife and cut yourself a slice of cake. Eat it, throw it, I don't care. This is to help you practice" He took a seat on the table where the cakes had been moments before.

"If you feel really confident with the spell, feel free to levitate your desk, my desk, or anything else in this room. Just not the people." He gave a warm smile. "I'll be here, if you have any questions, and once you feel confident, you can leave. The homework, as always is to the read the next chapter, which is on flame freezing charm"

RP the lesson, Attendance post is fine

Lucy entered the classroom, feeling a little tense about quidditch. She had to try and concentrate though, so she tried to put it out of her mind. Hovering charm. Right. She took a seat and got out her parchment and quill to take notes. The professor said the task was simple, but it looked like it actually required a bit of skill. Lucy gave it a go anyway - well, she kind of had to. She first levitated the cake. Simple enough. Then she tried to use it again on the knives. That was much harder. She struggled with moving it to the proper angle to cut. It nudged uselessly against the side of the cake a few times. Lucy frowned. She could do this. It took a lot, but she managed to cut something resembling a slice. Pleased with herself, she took the slice and ate it. A nice reward for a job sort-of well done. She finished up, placing her supplies away, and then left once she'd finished eating.

Callie walked into the charms classroom and took his usual spot int he room. She looked to the professor and nodded about practicing the spell from the previous week - though not on any of the kids, of course not. Callie then nodded at what they were to do, taking notes from what the professor was saying on it and then being pretty glad when the lesson wrapped up and she then was able to practice the spell, getting pretty good at it pretty quickly, though she’d always been good at the other versions of this spell. With that the lesson was wrapped up and she headed out of the room.

Enoch walked into the charms classroom and took his usual spot in the room. His gaze moved towards the professor at the front of the room as the man got started. He made sure he was listening to what was being said, but it wasn’t rocket science, especially given they’d done spells like this before. He took his wand when he was allowed to and then got to work practicing, managing it with ease and then heading out of the room the moment that he could.

Teddy liked Charms, the magic they learnt in this class was much more fun than any other subject. He smiled when Professor Haden explained the lesson and got to work practicing. He levitated the cake, then pointed his wand at the set of knives and summoned one to him. Watching Lucy struggle with the angle of her knife gave Teddy a better idea. He held the knife in the ideal position in his hand, ready to cut the cake. Then he levitated the knife and carefully maneuvered it to the cake. He cut a piece. It was a big piece which wasn't intentional, but Teddy didn't mind, he was going to eat it either way.
