Sixth Years, Lesson Four

James was glad to be moving from shielding charms onto something truly challenging for his sixth years, nonverbal magic. It was something a lot of student looked forward to learning, not realising how difficult it would be. He watched as his students made their way into the classroom and closed the door once they had all entered. "Today we will be learning about nonverbal magic, we'll start with a bit of a lecture as you will need to understand the principal behind how you do this before you begin, please take out your parchment, quill and ink and follow along with me," It wouldn't be a particularly long lecture but what he had to say was important and they would need to remember the details when it came to practicing.

"Concentration, determination and clarity of your punctuation will be essential for the successful completion of a nonverbal spell," James mentally recoiled, he'd never sounded more like a professor. "You must be focused and single minded when it comes to casting your spell, doubt and distraction will have no place in your mind or your spell simply won't work and trust me, not working is the best outcome in terms of failure," It would do them no favours to jumble their words or get distracted and cause something to blow up. "Next week you'll start practicing to cast Stupefy without speaking the incantation aloud, but for now that's the end of the lesson, no homework per se, but I'd like you to have a go at casting Lumos nonverbally before our next lesson, you shouldn't be able to mess that one up too much," James beamed at them as the door swung open, nonverbal and wandless, occasionally James did like to show off.

Mikael entered the classroom and took his usual seat. Nonverbal spells - finally. He had been waiting for this lesson. While defensive spells were important, he was more of an offensive dueller. Being able to cast silently, was certainly a goal. He'd studied ahead of time and the concepts were fairly simple. Besides, he'd helped his boyfriend last year with his own spellwork so Mikael had no doubts about how his own was going to go. It was perhaps a little interesting that they had homework, a nonverbal Lumos before the end of the class. He stood and walked out intending to go get his boyfriend so he could make sure someone would see him accomplish the homework.

Theo sauntered into the classroom, dropping into a seat near the back and stretching his legs out underneath the desk. He smirked as they were finally getting to study and practice nonverbal magic. "Professor, if this is your way to shut me up, then it is certainly working," he said with a smirk. It was going to be a very useful skill, indeed. Concentration, determination, clarity. Theo's grin just got wider. He was pretty sure those were easily done. He could concentrate. Determined was certainly a way to describe him. Clarity could be achieved. He certainly had very little doubts. Distraction was something that he needed to work on, but he liked to think that he could only be distracted when he wanted to. He sighed though at the homework. Well, that was definitely something he needed to work on.

Hinata sat with her parchment on her desk and quill in hand. She supposed the lecture wouldn't go on too long. James-san tended to favor them short. Still nonverbal magic was fascinating but also going to be quite difficult. She wasn't sure how much her parents were capable of the feat, she was sure her dad still muttered incantations more so perhaps it really, really was difficult. Concentration, determination, and clarity were apparently key when it came to nonverbal magic. As class wrapped up, she held her wand loosely like a comfort. She'd have to start practicing already. Especially if she wanted it to be useable during duels.

It was getting closer and closer to break, and Horror Zhefarovich could honestly count the days until he graduated. Horror needed nothing more than to find his own path. He wanted to do something that was not exactly smiled upon that was, at the same time, legal. An executioner was one, but he did not care about magical animals that might have done something terrible. Horror would rather do something that involved less people. That was why he was more into autopsies and whatnot. Even if he had to work in the muggle world, that was what he was dead-set on doing currently. He walked to his classroom with that in mind, sometimes wondering why he bothered with lessons anyway.

Horror entered the Defence Against the Dark Arts classroom, and settled in. Professor Cade let the sixth years know that they would be learning about nonverbal magic. This was what he had been waiting for the entire semester, when it came to this class. He took notes over how to do it, and then wrote down the homework. Practice Lumos. And Nox, he assumed. He got up and left to go to that in the comfort of his own dorm.

June made her way to the classroom and found her usual spot in the front. The professor told them they would learn nonverbal magic. And sat ready with her parchment to take notes since they would start with an bit lecture. Concentration, determination and clarity of your punctuation were important the professor said, or even essential to succesfull using nonverbal spells. It seemed that this was no problem for the blonde, she didn't hesitate herself mostly. Almost never. The ending of the professors lesson was not that confidently, but she would try lumos out ofcourse that wouldn't be too hard the blonde thought. But it would be different, they used the incantations of the spells so often that it would be weird not to speak them out loud. She made an quick note of the last part of the lesson and left the room once the lesson was over.
