Sixth Years; Lesson 2

Professor Potter sat at her desk, looking forward to today's lesson. A number of water glasses sat on her desk, ready to be used in practice today. As her students filed into the class, she continued to write a letter to Ezra. She quickly finished it and sat it to the side. Once they were settled, she rose and began the class.

"Welcome!" she greeted the sixth years. "Conjuring is our focus this year. Who can tell me what it means to conjure?" Lyra asked as she looked around the room, calling on the first hand that rose. After listening to the answer, she nodded with a smile and continued. "You are correct. Good answer."

Moving back towards her desk, Lyra picked up a goblet. She tapped her wand three times and spoke the incantation, "Aguamenti". A stream of water flowed out from her wand, and filled her glass. "Today we will be conjuring water. The spell is Aguamenti. Let's say that together please. Aguamenti." She listened to the class repeat the word. "Wonderful. There are a few key things to remember with conjuring. First, you must concentrate. Picture in your mind the object that you are wishing to have. For example, I filled the goblet by picturing it filled with water. This also helps to control the amount of water you get, or amount of any other object for that matter. The more accurate and detailed you picture what you are trying to conjure the better the result. Second, you still need to use the three tap method and speak the incantation carefully. If you say it wrong, you might just have a different result." She said, a little sternly, hoping the students understood her warning was to be heeded. Even the best wizard or witch goofed occasionally.

"With that, please come an pick out a drinking glass. You can continue to practice as much as you need. I do request that I get to taste your water for grading. Make sure when you are picturing the water in your mind, you also envision the taste and smell. Accuracy and detail are important. I will be here for any questions you may have." With that, she let them get to work, sitting at her desk ready for them to bring her the water to test out.

Homework: Simply RP the lesson. Please bring the water up to me to taste and grade.

Hinata was admittedly looking forward to the lessons. Conjuration was advanced magic and while she had seen Aguamenti used before - had it used on her before - she'd never really considered just how much level of skill and focus was needed to pull it off. Even so, with the Duelling Tournament just around the corner, she was pretty sure that this was one of the spells that would be downright useful - especially after she'd been doused with water in several practice sessions. She quietly picked up a drinking glass and chose a spot to practice. "Aguamenti," she cast and a small stream of water tricked out, though it had barely come up to a fifth of the glass. She needed to concentrate more on the image, she suspected. She took a deep breath and tried again. "Aguamenti." A steadier flow filled the glass more. Still, it took several tries for her to fill the glass, then again, she was more nervous about too much water coming out of her wand, so having control was definitely better.

Mikael entered the classroom noting the neatly arranged glasses on the professor's desk. He thought of what the professor had in mind today, but could only hope that she had no plans on making it "more entertaining". Classes were a chore enough as it was. Conjuration was a skill that Mikael was familiar with and looking forward to hone. When asked for a definition, he didn't bother raising his hand or answering the question. He was sure Davenport had it all in hand anyway. Aguamenti was quite the useful spell in and out of duels so he was quite ready to pass this class. Focus. He pictured clear, cool water than was enough to soothe on a hot summer day. A steady stream of it to come out of his wand - just enough to be controlled into the glass. "Aguamenti." A stream of water poured smoothly into the glass and he lifted it once it was filled enough. It was clear, with no foul smell and the glass had become cool to the touch. He brought it to the professor's table but spoke no words. She was certainly odd.

It was always going to be weird for Bailey to walk into a classroom and see her family getting ready to teach her. Bailey wasn’t the only one in that position in the school but she had the extra weirdness of having both her father and her aunt as professors. Bailey made her way into her aunt Lyra’s classroom for another Transfiguration lesson. She confirmed to the class that they would be focusing on conjuring during the semester and they would be starting with water. Bailey listened to to the incantation and watched the demonstration. It had never occurred to Bailey that water could be conjured from thin air, that was pretty cool as long as what she summoned was drinkable, which wasn’t a given.

After repeating the incantation out loud with the rest of the class Bailey got to work practicing. She grabbed a drinking glass from aunt Lyra’s desk and begun trying to fill it. “Aguamenti,” She wasn’t sure what attempt it was but eventually she managed to fill her glass with pristinely clear water. She dared not drink it herself, but seemingly had no choice but to hand it over to her aunt for tasting. Hopefully none of the glasses of summoned water she drank would do her in. Once the lesson was over Bailey packed up her things and made her way out of the classroom.

Theodore sauntered up to Professor Potter to grab a glass, examining it as he chose one. "Sooooooo, does this count as having a drink with us?" He just couldn't stop himself. Conjuring water. It was a little exciting, really. Walking back to his seat, he spun his wand between his fingers before tapping the rim of the glass three times, "Aguamenti." A thin stream of water trickled into the glass. Well. That was a bit of an overstatement since it was barely a line as it fell into the glass and then turned into barely a drip. "Aguamenti," he said with a little more insistence. A steadier flow of water trickled out, it was clear and there wasn't any weird smell coming from it though it did stop halfway through filling the glass. "Now or never," he said as he took a sip. It was... fine? Tasted like water. It wasn't off or anything so he supposed he did that right. Catching sight of Mikael sitting back down, Theo had the most amazing idea. He smirked as he adjusted his position so he's pointing his wand at both the glass and at Mikael. "AGUAmenti!" he said and as expected a bigger stream of water flowed from his wand, missing the glass completely and straight towards the back of his cousin's head, dousing him in... well... that was not clear water. "Oops?" he said though his grin was entirely unrepentant. "Sorry Professor! I'll clean it up!" and the spilled water was dealt with thanks to a quick Scourgify. Not his drenched cousin who was glaring at him of course. He did another spell to fill up his glass to bring it up to the professor. "Though I should let you know that I also drank from that so.... indirect kiss?" Trouble. And a menace. That's entirely what he was.

Horror Zhefarovich had a few of his textbooks out on his bed after he showered and got dressed. He had a lesson to attend today, and the rest were out for studying later. He looked at the time and day to see which of his classes that he had to attend. Once he figured it out, he grabbed the book and stuffed it into his bag. He had everything else gathered. From notes to wand, there was nothing that he was missing. He slung his bag over his shoulder and left, knowing that he would be there before the other prefect in his dorm. Horror cared more for his classes than Mikael. He had no idea what that meant about him though.

Horror made his way in the Transfiguration classroom, curious on wat they would be conjuring to start off with. The glasses on the desk sort of gave them clues on it. He paid close attention to the pronounciation of the spell to conjure water. He took out his wand and immediately started to practice. Before too long, he had a full glass of water. It seemed like it was pure. There weren't any clouds or anything. He brought it up to the front to be graded, and then left.

The blonde made her way to the classroom and found her usual spot in the front. She listened as the professor started the lesson and was ready to take notes of some lecture she was giving. When the professor asked an question she quickly raised her hand. It was an easy one, but her classmates all seemed dumb or just asleep. And she got chosen to answer. '' Conjuring is the opposite for vanishing. With conjuring you summon an object by using magic, you have to focus and concentrate well on the object you want to appear.'' the blonde explained. And smiled as the professor complimented her. She noticed the professor using an spell to let water appear out of her wand. That was kind of handy. She repeated the incantation with the class and listened further. She made sure to right down what was important. When it was their turn she took an glass, to picture the smell and taste of water was strange. But she would gonna give it her best try. The professor had to taste her water, it better be good. At least cold. She took out her wand and started to practice. She did exactly what the professor told her to do and managed to conjure water quickly in her cup. It was more difficult than she thought, but she ofcourse was succesfull. And brought the cup to the professor, the cup felt cold so the water was at least fresh. When the lesson ended she thanked the professor and left.
