Seamus had thought about asking Bella to the ball, she'd been his partner to several of them, but after their date had sort of fizzled out and time had passed, he wasn't sure he should bother. He wasn't that keen on her any more anyway, she was nice, and he did like spending time with her, but he didn't really want to date her…not properly. So Seamus was at the ball alone. Perhaps Hamish would come over and say Hi, provided that he didn't have a date. Seamus hadn't been keeping track of his brother's love life, he wasn't that interested in it, as distant as that sounded. He was in the hall, mingling about as others hung out with friends and danced. Eventually just sitting himself down at one of the tables and looking out over it.

Louis was a little frustrated. For the first time in a few years, he didn’t have anyone to take to the dance. It felt weird, to step into the great hall by himself. The fun part of these events was going with someone and flirting, maybe kissing them. But the night was young, Louis could find someone to spend the evening with even if he had come by himself. He looked around for anyone familiar, his gaze pausing on one of the Reid twins. Not Hamish, he realized after a moment. He had taken Hamish to a dance before and would have enjoyed flirting with him again, but there was also something fun about flirting with his twin brother as well. It could be a bit of a mess, if Hamish found out and minded, but it wasn’t like they had dated or anything. Besides, Seamus was looking particularly handsome. Louis slid into the seat next to him with a smile. “Waiting for someone?” He asked.

Seamus wasn't sitting along for very long, which wasn't too unexpected. All the school or most of the school did go to the events, so it made sense that someone would eventually sit down next to him. He was a little surprised that the person started speaking to him, and he glanced at him. Louis. He knew this boy vaguely, knew he'd gone to the ball with his twin, knew he was on the Gryffindor quidditch team. But he just shook his head. ”Not really. You?” he told him. Seamus wasn't sure if he should mention his brother or not. ”It's a bit pathetic when you come alone,” he commented, as someone who had come alone. He could see that some people didn't care, but Seamus was just sitting alone, and it was a bit pathetic.

Louis shrugged. “Maybe I am, just not sure who yet.” He said, which sounded suitably charming and mysterious. Though then Seamus mentioned it was pathetic to come alone, and Louis laughed, putting a hand on his chest. “Oof, warn a guy before you wound him like that.” He said easily, though his grin showed he didnt’really mind. “Does that mean we’re both pathetic, or should we just pretend we agreed to meet up like this?” He asked, leaning one elbow on the table. “I won’t tell if you won’t.”

Seamus glanced at him and raised an eyebrow at his tone. He whether the charm had worked better on his brother because it certainly wasn't entirely working on him. He knew his statement about it being pathetic was as directed at himself as anyone else. ”Didn't you date my brother briefly?” he ended up saying. He was watching the boy, who seemed maybe to be flirting with him a little. He didn't know what had happened between his brother and this boy, and perhaps it had been nothing. Seamus however didn't want to do anything flirty with this boy unless he was sure that he wasn't going to piss off or upset his brother.
