Theia wasn’t interested in dressing up for Halloween, associating it with the chaos and pranks of the ‘trick’ aspect of trick or treat, thanks to her dad and her siblings and their wild pranks, rather than thinking of it as a fun holiday where she deserved to be treated. Halloween for Theia was entirely different, one where she felt obliged to help her siblings with their costumes and act like the responsible older sibling as she went trick or treating with them so everyone was safe, unable to have fun herself as she was so busy, focusing her attention on other people rather than herself. Despite Halloween at Hogwarts being different, and Theia being away from most of her family, actually provided the opportunity to let loose, dress up and have fun for herself for the first time since she could remember, it was easier said than done for Theia. So instead of dressing up for the costume contest, she arrived in regular clothes to the Halloween feast, simply taking in the atmosphere and scenery of the great hall around her. She headed to pour herself a drink of punch, before finding an empty space to stand on the side-lines as she watched everyone around her, dressed up and having fun in their own respects. Continuing her habit of avoiding participation in Halloween, rather than taking part in it was easier, she thought. The distance she had from the festivities meaning she wouldn’t ultimately be disappointed in what happened, and one that calmed her down as she drank from her glass of punch, not expecting anything special to happen as she watched everything from afar.

Halloween was definitely the best time of year, even better than Christmas. Of course, when Christmas came around, she'd probably say the same thing about it, but for now, Emmy was thoroughly enjoying herself. She got to dress up this year, and there were so many amazing and scary costumes and creatures wandering the Great Hall, which just boosted her energy. She had been dancing for awhile, but finally needed a break, heading to the drinks table and grabbing some punch. She had attended the dance by herself, which she quite liked because it meant she got to roam around and hang out with whatever friend she wanted to, and wasn't bound to one person. Trying to find an empty spot, Emmy saw a girl by herself, someone who looked familiar, but she didn't really know her. Smiling at the girl, the Gryffindor approached her. "Hi! Enjoying yourself? Who did you dress up as?" She didn't have a clue who the girl was dressed up as at all.

Delilah hadn’t put too much thought into her costume for the night. She was just happy she had found the leopard printed jacket at the bottom of her trunk and figured it would be good enough. Her parent’s never really liked halloween when she was growing up and they stopped bothering to get her costumes once she reached the age where she actually wanted to dress up. But at school she could do what she wanted and decided to go to the great hall and check out what halloween at Hogwarts was really like. As she entered the great hall she was taken aback by the decorations, the entire place looked spooky and amazing. But she quickly realized she knew no one, or at least couldn't spot any of her friends until she finally found Sawyer’s older sister. Delilah figured that was a good place to start. “Uh, hi Theia.” she said tentatively as she approached, before noticing the other girl who had asked a question. “Oh, sure.” she answered with a shrug and sounded a little unsure. But she hadn’t been there long and was still trying to take in all that was going on. “A leopard i guess. It’s just a jacket but it’s all I had.” Delilah explained a little sheepishly.

Theia, minding her own business, was a little surprised when a girl approached her, talking to her as if they knew each other. While Theia did recognize the girl as one of the Gryffindors in her year, thanks to their shared classes, she didn’t know much else about her nor could she remember the girl’s name, Emma, maybe Emily, or something. She swallowed her mouthful of punch, about to respond when someone else Theia recognized walked over. Theia could at least remember Delilah’s name, thankfully. “Hey Delilah.” She looked between Delilah and the Gryffindor, then shrugged. “I’m just nobody, didn’t feel like dressing up.” She explained. “I know you from classes, was your name Emma?” Theia hoped the girl would correct her if she had gotten her name wrong. “Your costume is great, it looks good. Alice from Alice in wonderland, right?” She asked, nodding to the girl’s costume. Clearly a lot of effort had been put into it, and Theia could respect that. She also respected Delilah's decision to find an old jacket just to wear something costume like, both efforts the other girls had made was far more than Theia had done and it was reassuring for her to see other students having fun, it oddly made her feel more at home instead of like a fish out of water.
