Shadows And Regrets

The prospect of having help when moving out of home was a good one. Not only would he have an extra set of hands, but he would have morale support when his mother started crying. And besides, he would probably introduce Chloe to his parents then, knowing that they would love her. "Its newly built, with a mordern look to it. Large, spacious lounge room. Modern kitchen, two bestrooms with a study room... Its perfect for what i wanted." he explained, picturing where everything would go in the house. He had it all set out.

"That's amazing for a starter home." Chloe laughed a little and thought about it. That would be a pretty ideal setting to relax and unwind from work. And at the same time, there was an extra room for if she wanted to stay over at times, which she was pretty sure she would. "I can't wait to see it." And while she was there, she could also stop by and see her other friends and say a hello. This was working out pretty well, the more she thought about it.

Ash shrugged. He hadnt exactly wanted to move into a little smelly appartment, and Ash had been known for always wanting the best. "It will be a good house to live in for quite some time." he commented, playing with the bristles on his chin. He thought about when he was planning to move, and shrugged again. "Three days time, if you want?" he asked, wondering if it was too soon to start moving in. But then, the sooner the better, in his eyes.

Chloe placed her dish in the sink, cleaning it off quickly and well. As a girl the only chore she ever had to do was dish washing, mostly because her parents didn't want her to learn magic for everything. A little hard work wouldn't kill her now and then. The blonde left it in the sink after words, now hopping up on the counter and sitting there. "Three days?" In her mind she scanned her schedule, making sure that she had no plans, "That's good for me, actually. It's a date." That was a little sooner than she thought it would be, but hey, she said she would help.

Ash nodded and combed his hand through his hair, tidying it. "Well, i know its soon but i wanna get a head start on this whole 'real world' thing. I mean, we've been in school most of our lives, and we've barely seen the harshness of the world when you move out." he explained, trying to make her understand what he was feeling. "Ive already got my career placed out on the table for me, and not many people can say they already have the next ten years of their life already set out for then, without having to struggle or anything." he said, not sure if he wass making a point in this speech. "I mean, i just want to get used to living on my own, while im in school and its not that hard, before we're thrust into the real world." he finished, leaving his food on the bench, not hungry anymore, and walking over to hug Chloe while she was on the counter. "And now im confused...." he admitted, snuggling into her.

Chloe listened, understanding. It was a nice idea, that was for sure. But she knew it wasn't for her. She was too much of a daddy's girl to leave home so soon, even if it meant it would make it more difficult later on. Plus, at home there was a security of knowing that someone would be always there to take care of you. In honesty Chloe couldn't picture herself ever living by herself. If anything she'd need a roommate. The idea of not having someone with her was almost terrifying. That's why she never got a single dorm in school. She had given it a shot in her fourth year and ended up crying and sneaking into her friend's dorm. Lost in her thoughts, she hadn't realized Ash's sudden contact. But soon enough she smiled and giggled a bit, loving the affection. "It's okay to be confused sometimes."

Ash laughed under his breathe at her comment. If only she knew what was going this his head. This confusion, this feeling... It was unlike anything he had felt before, and it scared him because he was not used to becoming attatched. He and his father had never gotten along. He had always been the black sheep of the family, so there was never any love between them. Ash didnt get along with his little brother, because he was a snob, and tended to make Ash's life hell. And Ash's mother... She was the only one Ash had any bond with, and even then, her lack to speak out against his father had tarnished Ash's love for her. It was always awkward and uncomfortable whenever he was home... But now, he suddenly was starting to feel something he hadnt in a very long time... Love. And it confused him to the bone. "Some confusion... Not all." he whispered.

Chloe played with the boy's blond hair, humming softly. "What are you confused about then?" After all the fact that he said he was confused about pretty much everything worried her a lot. And even more, she found herself enamored with Ash. He just seemed to have a really kind heart, which mattered most to her. After all she had been with some guys, and even if they seemed nice, they more often than not ended up being rude or too pushy with her. Deep down, Chloe was sensitive and couldn't ever take any sort of comments. That was partially why she valued appearance so much, after all if she looked good, they'd have nothing to comment on. Lost in thought, she rubbed Ash's back, waiting for his answer.

Ash sat in perfect peace as Chloe played with his hair. He was at peace with the world, and with himself, and he couldnt see anything destroying that peace. He felt calm, comfortable and relaxed, and he never wanted this feeling to go away. Ash had had a weird time growing up. When he had found out he had magic, he had been utterly scared. He had been somewhat forced to reform and remold his life, leaving the friends he had already made, because he couldnt tell them his secret. For a while, he had hated what he was, having to leave his family to go to school, and having to make a new life at such a young age, but he had made it through all of that. Now, he regretted nothing. He was here, right where he wanted to be, but once again, he was changing. He was remolding himself for Chloe, a girl he had barely known for six hours, and he already felt a great deal for her. He was just... So confused. "Everything... My life, the direction im heading in. And it all revolves around you. This is crazy, isnt it?" he asked her softly, thinking himself insane.

Chloe turned a slight shade of pink. After all, as flattering as that was, she had only known him for a day, not even. Though he was sweet. The fact that a guy was planning ahead was refreshing as well. It seemed that all of the boys that did have interests in her were immature, not wanting to think or plan, just have a fun little fling that disregarded all feelings. Things like that, to Chloe, were pointless. There was no point in starting a relationship if you didn't want to get serious (even if it was very later on.) "That's... really sweet Ash." Her heart was beating in her ears, and she wasn't quite sure what to think. For once in her life things weren't very clear in her mind. That was one of the things that she often prided herself on. Usually she was quite decisive and didn't hesitate often, and yet tonight she had done, for the most part, just that. As much as this was a pleasant feeling, it began to scare her terribly.

Ash smiled and shrugged. He continued to hug her, and buried his head in her hair. With all the thoughts that were running through his head, he was getting tired. He yawned softly, and stepped back, holding out his hand. "I'll walk you too your dorm?" Its late, and ive kept you up long enough." he said, noting that it was well past midnight. He would see her in the morning, hopefully, but for now, he needed sleep, and needed to work things out in his head before doing anything else.

It was then that Chloe realized just how late that was, and in effect, how tiring this whole experience had been for her. She rubbed her eyes and nodded, still giving a weak smile, but now the tiredness was easily seen on her face. "That would be great, Ash." She then got off the counter, taking his hand and holding it tight, just wanting to tell her roommates what had happened, and then just wanting to crawl into bed and fake-sick her way out of classes tomorrow for the sake of sleeping in.
