Seventh Years, Lesson Four

The classroom looked a little different to what the seventh years would have been used to up to that point in the year as the desks had been pushed to the side leaving a large space in the middle of the classroom. He stood back and waited for his students to make their way inside and he directed them inside with a wave of his hand. "Put your bags by the door and come on in," Once they were all inside he waved his hand to close the door. "Today we will be practicing wandless magic to build on your successful attempts at nonverbal magic, now many of you will have performed wandless magic unwittingly as a child before you came to Hogwarts however, to perform it with more complex spells will take, practice and skill which you're all used to by now,"

James motioned his hand to a table he had set up toward the back of the classroom which had a number of scrolls laid out across it. "We'll start with something simple which should help you get started, we will be practicing the summoning charm which you learned to perform back in your first year with wands, this will take a clear mind and a lot of patience, you have become dependant on your wands and they will feel like an extension of yourself, this remains the case so using magic without them will take time to master,"

"Using wandless magic, summon a scroll from the table at the back of the room, visualise the scroll leaving the desk and coming into your hand, feel free to say the incantation out loud if this makes things easier for you but you should eventually come to a point where you can perform the spell non-verbal and wandless, you can start practicing whenever you are ready,"
James spent the lesson moving between the students helping out anyone who needed it. When their time was up he got their attention once more. "Good work today, continue to practice in your free time and if anyone needs help my door is always open, class dismissed,"

Emmanuel walked into the defence against the dark arts classroom and took his usual spot in the room. He glanced at the professor was the man had them standing to the side of the room, and told them they would be practicing wandless magic, which he had to admit was pretty amazing. He had never been the best at non-verbal magic and assumed he'd be as bad at wandless magic. He listened as the professor went over what exactly they were doing, Making sure that he was listening closely so that he didn't miss any part of what the professor was saying about it. They were just to visualise it. Just to see it in their mind. He looked at the scroll and imagined it coming into his hand, imagined it carefully and then eventually it was in his hand. He managed it once and then wasn't able to do more. The lesson was wrapped up and he grabbed his things before heading out of the room.

Lennox could not stand another lecture in this class. After years of enjoying it, the professor was crushing her desire to attend each week he rambled on and on. She entered the doorway, seeing the classroom arranged in a different manner. Lennox felt a smile cross her face. The desks were pushed aside. At least that meant no lecture, unless the professor was one sick man. She wouldn't be surprised knowing they would hire about anyone here. At least Lennox had a little bit of hope though.

She moved to the middle of the room, joining the classmates that had already arrived. She crossed her arms and waited for the professor to begin. Seconds felt like forever, but the lesson did start on time. The professor was not only throwing nonverbal magic at them but also wandless. Talk about jumping in head first. Lennox was up for the challenge though.

The professor explained about the task for the day and some helpful hints. Lennox knew all about visualization. She had been practicing in Transfiguration all year. Lennox was definitely up for the challenge, hoping for a chance to show off. Once the professor allowed them, Lennox searched for a scroll that was 'calling to her.' She found the item and was ready.

Now the visualization. She pictured the scroll floating towards her. The incantation words floating around it as if it was a scene from an old school comic but in her mind of course. When the image was clear it was time. Of course it was rather odd not to speak and not to have her wand. But she tried not to think about that. All she focused on was the scroll coming to her, the image.

Slowly but surely, the scroll floated off the table. It began to come to her at first slow then speeding up. Lennox caught the scroll in her hand. Thankful for all the chaser practice. She caught it and smiled happily. "Easy" she said bragging, not sure anyone heard her. Lennox practiced this a few times before the lesson came to an end. She was sure the professor had seen had well she had done, or at least she hoped so. When they were dismissed, Lennox grabbed her things from the side of the room and left the Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom.
