Seventh Years: Lesson 4

Professor Killian Borisyuk had his arms folded over his chest as the seventh years came into the classroom. He looked over at his watch as he remained standing, leaning against his desk. The only reason why he was not moving was because of the sticking charm he used to keep it in place since he didn't want his weight to push it back, and fall down. That was the last thing that he wanted to do in front of anyone. That was why he was not found walking the corridors. Tripping over students might cause injury to them and himself, though the latter being less so. It was soon time to start the lesson, so he closed the door with a wave of his hand. "Greetings. Last lecture of the year for History of Magic before the final two lessons of review for the entire course. I know you all must be excited to get out of school, so not much longer left." Killian knew that the seventh years would need some time to review the material from the last six years, but that was for next time.

"We left off with the Scitorari, so this lesson you will be learning more about what they have done that they have claimed. The Scitorari are fairly tight lipped and secrecy seems to be their true source of power. One might wonder if the Aurors know more about them than the public, or if they are in the dark as much as we are." Killian paused to take a drink of water so that he had could continue without actually pausing. "In 2028, there was a public appearance of Death Eater enthusiasts, but since it was quiet, one has to wonder whether or not that these were actually members of the Scitorari in one of the factions I mentioned to spread chaos and panic in the wizarding community. Even though they hid in the shadows for who knows how long, they made themselves known as ruthless killers when they killed the Head Auror, Nicolas King. He was at the alter saying his 'I do' when they struck him down. You might recognize that name because he used to be a Headmaster here."

Killian worked mentally to continue with the lesson since they had made a number of attacks in the more recent years. "A member of the Scitorari was caught when a woman, Avory Brandt, ran for Minister for Magic. She nearly won too. In March 2041, they made themselves known in a public appearance, advertising themselves and accusing the Ministry of lying. No arrests were made but their message was heard across the community between the students and adults. Another Scitorari member struck down a former Headmistress' daughter but he was promptly taken in. The Scitorari remained rather active since in 2046, another candidate for Minister for Magic was attacked by three members of the Scitorari just before election day with his memory wiped. Of course, they were caught and sentenced by the new Minister for Magic at that time." Killian leaned forward to put his arms on his desk, clasping his hands together.

"Things have been quiet so far, but how long will that last? As you heard, they will stoop low enough to murder to accomplish their goals, even if it is just to make themselves known that they are still around. From what I gather, it is namely for attention. Rest assured, the Ministry will deal with them like they have the Death Eaters, especially if they use Dark Arts. And with that, your History of Magic material is done. The next two lessons will be review." Killian tapped the board for their homework since it wasn't exactly research. "This is for extra credit only. Other than that, I have nothing else for you. Class dismissed." Killian snapped his fingers and the door opened to let the seventh years go.
Assignment: RP the lesson.
Extra credit: What is your opinion on the Scitorari? Are they worse than the Death Eaters? Worth up to 5 EC points.

Savannah walked into the history classroom and took her spot in the room. She had enjoyed the last lesson and was keen to learn more though she would argue as the professor got started that the history was a little recent to be called that, but with only a few weeks to go until the NEWTs, she didn’t really mind. She took some notes from what the professor was saying. It was all interesting enough and she was rather glad there was little activity. Eventually the lesson was wrapped up and Savannah packed up her things and headed out of the room. Heading to the library to work on the assignment they had been given.

The seventh year prefect was ready to just leave the school by now, but he still had several weeks left. Cassius Styx got ready in his dorm room and had his bag ready for the day. Cass wondered what Aubrie was up to right now, and hoped that she was thinking of him too. It would have been better if he had just gone out to Beauxbatons, but oh well. Cass looked at his schedule to make sure that he was heading to the right class. He did have several after all. Almost all of them. He dropped some over the years, but he lost interest in most of them. Cass still had some interest in the ones he had currently. That is why he grabbed his things and left the dorm to head to class without wasting time.

Cass entered the History of Magic classroom and got out his notes because they would have another lecture. He was right too. They would be going over the Scitorari again, though this was what they had done, or claimed. He wrote down some of the events that the Scitorari were behind, from the 2028, and then they murdered Nicolas King, a former Headmaster here. They were fairly active in the 2040s, but they have been quiet. Cass wondered if there would be more events in the future. It was hard to say. He packed up his notes and left the classroom with that lingering on his mind.
