Second Years Lesson Two

Professor Adler had almost finished restocking the cabinet that sat along the side of the classroom when the second years turned up for their next lesson. She wanted to make sure that any student, regardless of whether she was teaching them, had access to the basic necessities any student might need throughout the term. The drawers were filled with tissues, plasters, wipes and deodorant. Spare hand cream and sanitizing lotions, hair clips and products for the girls, and even extra pieces of parchment, fresh notebooks and multicoloured pens. It was free for all, and the mother in her was keen to make sure the students felt as though they had anything they could need.

"Good morning," the woman smiled as the students took their seats, although she was quick to jump into this lesson. "I hope everyone has brought their wands with them today?" If any student had left there's behind, this was going to more than a little tricky for them. "We'll be practicing our first spell of the semester, not on one another." Geo knew this would be the chance for her to show the second year how she preferred to teach. The professor was stood next to a dummy at the front of the classroom, and it was on this that the blonde now pointed her wand. "Locomotor Wibbly!" She said clearly, and suddenly the legs of the dummy began to shake. "The Jelly-Leg Jinx causes the victims legs to turn to jelly, which could make it very hard for your victim to stay upright," excellent in a duel, if it came to it.

"I would like you work on this spell today but you have a choice. Either you can come to the front of the class, and practice on the dummies I have available for you in here. You can practice casting the spell and I can help if you run into any trouble. However, if you would prefer a more theoretical approach, I would like you to stay at your desk and write an essay on the uses of this spell, either option is fine." She knew not everyone would have an interest in the practical elements, but the most important part was that they understood what they doing. "If you choose to practice the spell, you can use Finite to stop the effect." In some way, the counter-curse was even more important. "For those of you who feel like you're missing out by not casting this on a real person, please come and speak to me at the end of the lesson. Once you've done either of these, you can leave!" Geo smiled, moving to help the students that wanted to practice on the dummies at the front of the room.

In order to get an O:

- Roleplay the lesson and EITHER
a) Practice the spell on a dummy
b) Write an essay about when and/or why you could use the Jelly-Leg jinx (1 sentence is fine)

Mania was rather elated to go to her Defence against the dark arts lesson now that they had a cool Professor. She quite really liked professor Adler and well looking at her too. Sigh. Taking a seat at the front again she leaned her head on one of her hands as the lesson began. Nia did her best to keep her attention on what was being taught, not everything else around her. She wanted to do good on the subject, if not only to impress the Professor while she could.

Relief flooded her body as the blonde confirmed that they'd not practice this spell on each other, she wasn't too keen on casting any of these on any of her classmates without it being a duel situation. It felt wrong because in a duel they could at least attempt to defend themselves besides if she was going to practice it on her friends they were going to practice it on her and that was also a less than desirable outcome. Nia took it to herself to practice the spell on a dummy first, she intended to do the written part too because she'd turned into an over achiever on this subject. You could hardly blame her. Staring at the dummy she made a weird face at it because the thing was just stood there staring at her like she ate its puppy. To be fair it was a dummy but still. "Locomotor Wibbly!" She said clearly but nothing happened. Sigh. She repeated it and this time it hit the dummy and its legs began to shake. Yikies, that looked unstable to say the least. She practiced a few times over before returning to her seat to write a little piece of homework for good measure.

Well you can use the Jinx in a duel situation, or if you ever want to make someone feel weak in the legs. Say you want to swoop them off their feet this might help, though in the emotional swooning this might sabotage some things, alas you can always try. Who knows maybe they like being swooped off their feet.

Lincoln was glad to hear that they would practicing their first spell of the semester, assuming they wanted to at least which he very much did. He sat and listened to Professor Adler discuss the Jelly-Leg jinx, it sounded like it might be a good use for duelling, or a good prank jinx. Once they were given the chance to practice, or not practice, Lincoln decided to practice the jinx on one of the practice dummies. He took out his wand and got to work, he took out his wand and pointed it at the practice dummy he lined up with, "Locomotor Wibbly!" On his first attempt the legs of the dummy appeared to wobble and he was happy to see himself be successful. He continued to practice until the end of the lesson then he packed up and left.
