Geo had busy for most of the day, running various errands in town. It was strange when she didn't work, it meant that she didn't see James until they'd both returned home for the evening. After coming home and taking a shower, she'd dressed comfortably and sat herself in the large open living room with a large glass of wine, glad that the children were out of the house. She adored her step children more than they'd ever know, but it was a different kind of evening when it was spent childfree. After putting on some music and lighting some scented candles, she prepared to have an enjoyable night.

The days were always that little bit longer whenever he didn't work with Geo, he would either be stuck on his own or stuck with an idiot who was too incompetent to hold down a regular partner. After a long day of patrol, he was finally home and was able to relax as the kids were out of the house for the evening, he certainly had and an idea of how he wanted to take advantage of that freedom but it would depend entirely on his wife. James walked straight from the front door to the living room where he found Geo sprawled out on the couch with wine and music, perfect for relaxing. "Honey I'm home,"

On some level it was weird for her that her ex-girlfriend was now her sister in law, even if their relationship had been a blink and you miss a few months during their school years, it had been meaningful to her and it had shaped her outlook on love and relationships in the future. Jess and Geo might have moved on from their relationship and developed much more of a best friend/sister-like relationship in the years since but that didn't mean she actually wanted Geo to be her sister. Girls' night had become a bit of a tradition in their adult years as it was harder to spend time together with work and life getting in the way so whenever the two girls had a free night they would usually spend it in each other company since Geo married James that tended to take place at his house. Jess made her way to the imposing mansion that once belonged to her other brother Ezra and before that their grandfather and knocked on the door, which she did as a formality before entering anyway. "Honey I'm home," She called into the house assuming wherever Geo was she would hear her.

Geo was taking another sip of wine, nestling into the soft couch when she heard voices. At first it had been daunting living in such a large house, with many rooms and entrances that it was unnerving that maybe you weren’t as alone as you thought, but over the years the Auror had become more confident. Now she was a guardian of this family. As a member of the crime fighters and a Metamorphmagus, she knew she was one of the Cade children‘s best chances of avoiding danger, and that she just had to trust her own instincts.

The blonde placed down her glass and stood up to face her family. That’s what they both were to her now. James was her best friend as well as her husband, they did most things together and not just because they had to. Geo had always been naturally drawn towards him ever since they’d started working together. Sure, he’s been a bit of an idiot in school and she’d in all honesty not paid him much attention while he’d been with Maddie, but that was then and this was now, and Geo couldn’t imagine her life without him in it.

Jess on the other hand had known her since before they’d even started at Hogwarts. There had been a time when Geo stayed with Leila and the family, and Geo had had time to get to know Jess, before she’d really gotten to know Jess. She’s fallen for the girl once already during their second year, and even if it wasn’t the longest relationship it had still been quite intense. So much history between the two had made it impossible not to consider one another family at this point.

Geo rounded the couch, almost bouncing her way over, and immediately threw her arms around Jess’s neck, giving her a small squeeze. They’d been through a lot together, and even if at times they’d drifted apart, Geo was so grateful they always found a way back to one another. “Hey!” Girls nights definitely were needed these days, and every time she saw Jess, Geo had more and more she wanted to share with her. After a moment, Geo let go and turned to her husband who’d also just walked through the door. It was funny. James always carried an air about him of security that Geo couldn’t put her finger on. It wasn’t just that he was ridiculously cocky, self assured, strong and resilient, but he had a safety to him too that was nothing to do with his career. Geo just knew that if anyone needed James, he’d be there for them. The same way Geo had always been there for him. Jess may have been her past and her present, but when Geo looked at James she saw her present and her future. Geo took her hands and lightly placed them on James’ cheeks, standing on her tip toes and kissing him gently. How the hell had they already been together for 8 years? James made her feel like they needed to go on more adventures, that together they could literally face anything. Geo loved Jess, but it was James that completed her.
