Geo was taking another sip of wine, nestling into the soft couch when she heard voices. At first it had been daunting living in such a large house, with many rooms and entrances that it was unnerving that maybe you weren’t as alone as you thought, but over the years the Auror had become more confident. Now she was a guardian of this family. As a member of the crime fighters and a Metamorphmagus, she knew she was one of the Cade children‘s best chances of avoiding danger, and that she just had to trust her own instincts.
The blonde placed down her glass and stood up to face her family. That’s what they both were to her now. James was her best friend as well as her husband, they did most things together and not just because they had to. Geo had always been naturally drawn towards him ever since they’d started working together. Sure, he’s been a bit of an idiot in school and she’d in all honesty not paid him much attention while he’d been with Maddie, but that was then and this was now, and Geo couldn’t imagine her life without him in it.
Jess on the other hand had known her since before they’d even started at Hogwarts. There had been a time when Geo stayed with Leila and the family, and Geo had had time to get to know Jess, before she’d really gotten to know Jess. She’s fallen for the girl once already during their second year, and even if it wasn’t the longest relationship it had still been quite intense. So much history between the two had made it impossible not to consider one another family at this point.
Geo rounded the couch, almost bouncing her way over, and immediately threw her arms around Jess’s neck, giving her a small squeeze. They’d been through a lot together, and even if at times they’d drifted apart, Geo was so grateful they always found a way back to one another. “Hey!” Girls nights definitely were needed these days, and every time she saw Jess, Geo had more and more she wanted to share with her. After a moment, Geo let go and turned to her husband who’d also just walked through the door. It was funny. James always carried an air about him of security that Geo couldn’t put her finger on. It wasn’t just that he was ridiculously cocky, self assured, strong and resilient, but he had a safety to him too that was nothing to do with his career. Geo just knew that if anyone needed James, he’d be there for them. The same way Geo had always been there for him. Jess may have been her past and her present, but when Geo looked at James she saw her present and her future. Geo took her hands and lightly placed them on James’ cheeks, standing on her tip toes and kissing him gently. How the hell had they already been together for 8 years? James made her feel like they needed to go on more adventures, that together they could literally face anything. Geo loved Jess, but it was James that completed her.
