Red Blooms in the Courtyard

Being a member of the WPC and had been delivering roses were Alexis' routine that she was determined to see through. She could not somehow forgive herself that she was not able to sign up for it last year. With this in mind and a basket on hand, the Ravenclaw was on the hunt for a few students that she already knew by face or by name. She was told by some who knew her that the Ravenclaw could find Emilia Manning in the courtyard. So here she was, scanning the area for the person she intended to approach. Spotting the girl on a bench, Alexis broke into a smile as she stopped in front of her. "Hey, Emilia. Got a rose for you.", picking up the single red rose from the bunch.

Emilia had been stressed from the moment she'd received a yellow rose at the Hufflepuff common room. It hadn't been from Derek, but she knew her boyfriend would have sent her a rose. And she had forgotten. How would she ever face him? She was anxiously pacing around, wondering if she should find him and explain. So far she hadn't gotten one from him, so maybe he had forgotten too? But then a girl approached her, and Emilia's heart sank. "Oh." She said hesitantly, her face falling when she saw the red rose.

Alexis saw the slight disappointment on Emilia's face as she saw the rose. Always optimistic, she handed it to the Hufflepuff along with the card. "Here you go.", she said with an encouraging smile. She wondered if she should ask her whether she was feeling okay. Throwing caution to the wind, she asked before she changed her mind. "Are you feeling okay?", hoping the girl did not mind.

Emilia took the rose from the girl with shaking fingers, feeling like she was about to cry any moment. How could she have forgotten Derek? What if he broke up with her over this? She wouldn't even be able to blame him, it was her own fault. She wasn't the girlfriend he deserved. She took a deep breath, trying to calm herself down a bit. The girl asking if she was okay made it clear that she was being visibly upset, and she didn't want to be known as the girl who randomly started to cry over a rose. After a moment, Emilia nodded. "I-I'm fine, thank you for the rose." She said softly. She didn't open the note just yet, afraid that the contents would really make her start to cry.
