🌹 Rose Giving Red aka The Best Colour Option

[Juniper Veritas]

Juniper was full of nerves about delivering roses. When she'd signed up for it she hadn't realized what it meant necessarily. Not until she had been handed roses to deliver personally to someone and now she had to do that. Starting with the easiest one she walked up to Freddie in the Ravenclaw house table and sheepishly tapped him on the shoulder. "Hey I have a rose for you."

Freddie still hadn't started his deliveries. He was going to, soon - his roses were standing in the water jug in front of him - but he didn't wanna do it while everyone else was doing it. The corridors were too busy. People would look at him, and he hated that. So he was waiting.

A tap on his shoulder made him look around. Oh. Really? Juni had a rose for him? Didn't he have one for her? He pulled a yellow rose out of the jug and double-checked the name. Yep. Juniper Veritas. "Swap?" he said.​

Juniper blinked a few times confused. Swap? Then she looked down at the yellow rose, oh she had a rose for her? That was sweet, she didn't know hat someone would want to send her a rose. With a small smile she nodded. "Sure, here you go." Juni spoke softly, offering the red rose and its note to Freddie.

It's not a red rose because I love you or anything gross like that. I just think red is the best colour of the three. It's Ruby by the way.

Freddie handed the yellow rose, still dripping everywhere, to Juniper. Whoa - his was red? Maybe it was from Declan. Declan would do that. He dried his hand on his shirt and unwrapped the note. A grin grew across his face as he read. As soon as he saw the name, he burst out laughing. He'd forgotten what he sent her, but he suddenly remembered now. That was funny. "It's Ruby. Where is she?" he asked, half standing up, then changing his mind and sitting back down again. She probably didn't get his rose yet. He'd go find her later. "Who's yours from?"​

Juniper took her rose and opened the note at the same time as Freddie burst out laughing. The laugh startled her just a bit but a smile grew on her face never the less. "Oh I don't know, I saw her in the morning though. She's my dormmate." She explained before reading her note again, she hadn't realized people would send roses to her but it felt nice.

Pocketing her note she looked back up at Freddie. "It's from Zeke, we ice skated during the yule ball." Juni explained, internally cringing at the memory of her single handedly taking both of them down. She'd had a few bruises but all of them had healed long since.

Freddie nodded, flicking some hair out of his face. He'd go find Ruby after he'd done his deliveries. "Aw, cute," he said, smirking. "He likes you." They went ice skating together, and now Zeke sent her a rose? He was in looove.​

 

[Juniper Veritas]

Juniper frowned, did this mean her and Zeke were now friends? She'd sent him a rose, he'd sent her one. If so weren't friends supposed to like each other anyway so why was Freddie pointing it out? "Isn't that what friends do? they like each other? I wouldn't want to be friends with someone I didn't like." She stated a bit confused. "That is if we are friends, but I think so, right? How do you know if someone is your friend?" Before coming to the school Juniper had never had any real friends, only her siblings. She didn't do well in social situations so it was all a bit new to her.

Freddie looked at Juniper a little blankly. How did you know if someone was your friend? "You say, 'are we friends?' and then they say... 'yes'." Or 'no', but Freddie was mostly joking anyway. He kinda got it. He didn't have any friends at elementary school. Just some people he hung out with - but they didn't really like him. "I dunno. Do you like him?"​

It was Junipers turn to stare at Freddie a little blankly. She blinked once or twice. He asked if she liked him? Hadn't she just said she wouldn't want to be friends with someone she didn't like so if she was considering the fact he might be her friend that meant she liked him, no? "If I'm considering him to be my friend then I suppose I like him? But I like everyone, well not everyone but most people..." This was now getting so confusing. "I like you so that makes you my friend, or? Are you my friend? Oh maybe you aren't, do you want to be my friend?" Why hadn't she asked him before?

This was more confusing than algebra with fractions. Freddie screwed his face up in careful thought. He didn't wanna say the wrong thing. But at least her last question was easy. "We are friends," he said. "Wait - sit down." He'd just had the best idea. Taking a plain notebook out of his bag, he started drawing a venn diagram. When he was done, he passed it to her. "See?"

Juniper felt a sense of relief at the fact that at least she and Freddie were friends, great. That was a good thing. The Hufflepuff sat down as Freddie started to draw something and then she stared at the diagram. She looked at it and blinked. Was this supposed to make sense? Was she stupid? "So in conclusion I think that makes me and Zeke friends." She said, though she hoped she wasn't annoying. Maybe she was. "Thank you." She said with a genuine smile, though it still didn't make fully sense to her, Juni thought she was starting to get the hang of it.

"You're welcome," said Freddie, clicking the cap back on his biro. Venn diagrams were great. You could basically use them for anything. Though he'd never done one to explain what friends were before. He reached for an apple and peeled off the sticker. Another one for Declan's collection. "Probably. If you hang out. And he likes you. He sent you a rose, so... he does." ​

Great so now Juniper had at least two friends outside of those she'd made in her dorm. "Okay I think I best get going, still got a lot to deliver." Juniper said with a soft smile while getting up from her seat. "Bye Freddie! See you around." She told him with a wave before continuing on her way with a smile on her face.
