The next name on Kauri’s delivery list was a person he felt unreasonably conflicted about. Kauri knew Hayley had some kind of reputation for being… extreme, or violent, he wasn’t even entirely sure what people said about her, but it certainly wasn’t good. And yet every time he had spoken to her, delivering roses, or when their paths had crossed in the course of prefect duty, she seemed perfectly nice. Kauri didn’t know where her reputation came from, or how someone who behaved the way people thought she did could have ever become a prefect, but he wondered what could have happened for people to feel that way about Hayley. He was determined not to let it affect how he treated her though, smiling brightly as he approached the Slytherin table, hoping to find her at lunch. Looking around though, Kauri couldn’t see any sign of Hayley, no matter how many times he walked up and down the table. Eventually Kauri gave up, heading towards his own house table to eat. He would just have to find Hayley after lunch. As Kauri approached the Gryffindor table though, he was surprised to spot the girl there, eating with a friend. Grinning brightly, Kauri made his way over to Hayley, relieved to be able to deliver the rose after all. “Hi, Hayley! I have a delivery for you!”

Hayley was having a lovely day, spending time with her friends, not thinking about Lizzie at all, definitely not. Not thinking about her feelings for Harley either, even as they sat together and talked, and Hayley was reminded again and again how much she loved her smile, her laugh, her everything. She was definitely not going to say anything today of all days; as romantic as it would be, it would make anything other than the best case outcome far too awkward. Hayley was jolted out of those thoughts, though, by Kauri approaching with roses. "Hi Kauri," she said cheerfully. "Thanks! How's it going?"

Kauri smiled brightly, pleased that Hayley seemed happy to see him. Whatever people had to say about her, she definitely seemed nice enough to him. "It's going great, thanks!" He said cheerfully, picking the rose from his basket. "Here you go, happy Valentines day!"

Hayley!

Don’t let the dungeons get you down, there’s sunshine everywhere you go! Have a great Valentine’s day, I can’t wait to spend time with you later!

I love you!

Rose

Hayley smiled as Kauri gave her the rose, and unfolded the note. “Thank you! Aww, that’s really sweet!” Rose always sent such adorable notes, though Hayley couldn’t really see herself as a source of sunshine. That was Rose’s thing, spreading light and happiness. Even now she would be off delivering roses of her own, and making terrible puns about doing so.

Kauri smiled brightly, glad to see Hayley so happy to get her rose. His job done, Kauri stepped back to go get something to eat. "Have a good day!" He said as a cheerful farewell.
