Reason for the season

Adele laughed at Riley then gave him a funny look. "Yes...well done clever clogs..." She told him jokingly, having realised the randomness of his comment. Adele looked over at Lowan, she loved the fact that they were now back as a family together again, and Adele wouldn't have wanted her Christmas any other way. But not just for Christmas, this was just the beginning, the young family had a long way to go yet. But kisses being shared out and presents being played with was a good enough start for Adele.

"We can't stop ourselves from ageing...just like we can't stop ourselves from being in love...just because we are going to get old...it doesn't mean our love will...and all the fun and excitement that comes with love." Adele told Riley happily as she watched Lowan crawl back over to his new car. She hoped he would get tired soon. There was no rush, of course Adele would happily spend the whole day with her two favourite boys. But she had no reason to have missed Lowan, she had taken care of him whilst her and Riley had been apart. But she had missed Riley loads and a few hours alone with him would fill Adele with overall happiness...even if they just sat their in silence...which was very unlikely...but it whatever happened...Adele knew it would top her Christmas off nicely.

Riley laughed and shrugged his shoulders. He knew it was a comment which had been plucked strait out of the blue. "Well it just popped in to my head and you know how I have a tendency to speak my mind." He said taking a deep breathe and sighing lightly as he smiled at her. Considering the huge turn of events that had unfolded within the last ten minutes Riley found that the atmosphere in the room was surprisingly relaxed. Usually from past experiences when getting back together with an old flame he always felt awkward for a while but that didn't seem to be the case right now.

Riley nodded absent mindedly as he listened to her speak. He had lost interest half way through that sentence but he knew what she would have said anyway. "I couldn't have said it better myself." He said smiling at her as he raised his glass before taking a sip of the apple juice inside. He may not have been one to speak about deep feeling very often but he was opening up to people more now and he had nothing to hide from Adele, well there was the one secret which only one other person knew about but that was how it was going to stay.

Adele smiled cheekily. "Good." She told him, playfully hitting his arm before watching him taking a sip of his apple juice. She followed the glass as it raised to his mouth then giggled as he put it down. "Hmm...is that drink tasty?" She asked him cheekily as she laughed, knowing fully well that Riley would know the direction in which this conversation was heading. Okay Adele would admit it, she was desperate for him, but for today, she would allow Riley to do things in his own time, as and when he wished to. She knew it wouldn't be all that long before he couldn't resist her any longer.

Riley smiled slightly as he looked to his side at her when she commented. He knew she wasn't talking about the apple juice like others would think, he knew her too well for that sort of thought. Still he had decided that he was going to make her wait, for as long as he could keep it in his pants. "Its apple juice. It all tastes the same to me." He said with a shrug as he played dumb to her meaning. Seeing as he had not slept with another girl since their break up Riley had grown a lot of self control since he had started to be loyal. His life didn't revolve around the next time he would have a girl in bed. Now he wondered if he could last longer than Adele. He smiled again at the challenge. "You know the muggle alcoholic drink, Cider is made out of apple juice. Its basicly apple juice that has just been left for ages." He said changing the subject off what Adele was trying to get at and on to something totally different.

Adele laughed as Riley played dumb and tried to change the subject. She wasn't having any of it. Adele could usually wait, but it had been so long. Adele watched Lowan play around as she thought about her witty response, before looking back at Riley and smiling cheekily at him. "So I guess upstairs is a bit like Cider...it's been left for ages..." Adele winked at Riley before giggling, then playfully hitting his chest. After a bit of thought, Adele decided that she wouldn't push it any further. "So...Christmas Day walk?" She suggested as she stood up then held her hand out for Riley to take if he accepted the offer.

Riley had to hold in a laugh at Adele's reply. He had to admit her responses did amuse him a lot sometimes and not to mention he always had to think before replying to them. "Yep but the longer you leave Cider the better it tastes." He said grinning at his own comment. He was going to make her wait for as long as possible. Mainly for his own amusement to see how long she could last before just jumping him. "Sounds like a plan." He said standing up and linking his large hand in hers. "Il sort Lowan out." He said letting go of his wife hand again then lifting Lowan up in his strong arms and resting him on to of his shoulders. The small boy gripped his dads head tightly and Riley kept hold of his legs. "Shall we go now." He said laughing.

Adele laughed at Riley's comment. His jokes always made her giggle, he was a funny guy and most of them were based on something completely unfunny but had just been twisted into something hilarious. "Oh okay then, whatever you say Mister." She told him as he went and fetched Lowan. Adele giggled as she watched Lowan be amused when Riley put him on his shoulders. "Hang on, it may be fairly warm, but not for little Lowan, and besides he has a trendy new coat to wear. His Christmas present from his Mummy." Adele said as she revealed Lowan's new coat. "We can go once he puts it on." She announced happily.

Riley groaned and slowly lowered himself to his knees so that Adele could put Lowan new coat on. "Ugh fashionable clothes." He said in a very boy like way. "If he is anything like me then he wont feel the weather. You've seen me in the winter, i can wear shorts and T-shirt quite happily." He said waiting for Adele to finish with dressing Lowan in countless layers even though it was Summer outside. "So where about did you have in mind? The park or somewhere else? There is a lake in the park so if we take some bread we can feed the ducks with Lowan" He asked lifting himself back on to his feet again, making sure to keep a firm grip on his son. He didn't want him falling off now.

Adele smiled sweetly at Riley lowered himself so she could put Lowan's new coat on. Forever the gentlemen. Adele zipped and Velcro'd up Lowan's coat before tapping Riley's shoulders twice, queuing for him to stand up. "Yeah I know...but we don't want to risk Lowan being ill now do we?" She told Riley, taking his hand then walking towards the front door. "The park sounds good to me...I don't think Lowan has ever fed the ducks before." She said excitedly, she loved it when Lowan did things for the first time, it was a proud mother moment. Adele turned to face Riley with a confused look on her face. "Do ducks like butter on their bread?" She asked him. Blonde Moment.

OOCOut of Character:
Haha. :p

Riley laughed and shrugged. "Oh i dunno getting sick could do him good. It will make his immune system stronger if he gets ill a lot." He said giving Adele a grin knowing she wouldn't have any of it. Not that he blamed her, a sick Lowan was a loud crying Lowan who kept the whole house awake at night. Although luckily he and the boys went to Hogwarts all the time so if he was ill they only had to put up with it in the holidays. "Nope i dont think he has either which probably means he will be scared of them for a bit until he decided to copy us and feed them." He said laughing at the sound of that. His laughter increased thought at her next comment. "Adele im sure the ducks wont mind if their bread is not buttered. Oh and im sure they dont care if you use old bread and not the new stuff." He said shaking his head sarcasticly. "You do make me laugh sometimes." He said walking to the door and opening it waiting for Adele

Adele laughed then happily skipped off to the kitchen to fetch some bread for the ducks. When she reached Riley again, she took his hand then looked up at Lowan, handing him a piece of bread. Adele knew that he would probably either eat it, or crumble it on Daddy's head by the time they got to the park, but either would be quite amusing to see, especially the second option. "Come on then Lowan, lets go and feed the duckies shall we?" She told him in a baby voice before giggling as she turned back to Riley. She leaned up and kissed Riley's cheek before heading out the door, with Riley in hand, and Lowan on his shoulders.

Riley watched Adele go off to get the bread then coming back and giving Lowan a piece. He knew he would have essence of bread on his hair when he got to the park, but it was easily sort a quick ruffle of his hair would get rid of it just fine. Riley made sure to keep one hand on Lowans legs in case he fell so he could catch him, the other hand was link in Adeles now. As they walked towards the park Riley sighed in the warm heat from the sun. "He is going to be roasting." He said quickly letting go of Lowan to wipe the sweat from his head then taking hold of his leg again. "If i was an animagus i would want to be a duck right now. The water would keep me cool." He said with a laugh. he didn't know if it was the heat that was making him more warm or the fact that he had Lowan on his shoulder and Lowan wasn't light. He wasn't fat, not at all but Riley was walking in the sun with him weighing him down. He didn't mind though, Lowan was happy and that was all that mattered to him

Adele laughed as Riley made yet another random comment. "Well in that case I'd want to be a duck too...there would be duck marriages...and Lowan would be our little duckling...but not the ugly duckling...he's too gorgeous for that...gets it from his Daddy..." She told Riley with a little, shy giggle. As they began to reach the ducks, Adele noticed Riley wiped some sweat from his fore-head. She walked infront of him, so he couldn't walk any further. "Hot are we baby?" She asked cheekily, she never called him baby. Adele placed her hands on Riley's chest, as Lowan's legs were dangled around his neck, so she couldn't put her hands there without knocking Lowan off. "Nothing's changed there then..." She told him, moving her hands to his waist, before kissing his lips. Adele then moved back to Riley's side, linking her arm into his once more as the young family happily headed towards the lake together.

Riley raised an eye brow as he listened to her talk about ducks and marriages and thing. he kind of turned off half way through the ramble but he did manage to catch the end of her sentence. "Yeah he does. But he also gets it from you." He said giving her a one armed hug. He did think Adele was beautiful, and with his low self esteem now he thought she was too good for him. He wouldn't admit it to anyone though. He picked Lowan up from off his shoulders and placed him on his feet to stand up on them. "Yeah i know i know. Im hot i get it. Its because im part veela." He said ending the subject. He hated that he was human any more. The part veela made him not fully human in his eyes and the Werewolf condition just made him feel worse about it. Riley took a piece of bread and broke it up in to chunks and through it in the water for the ducks to eat. He realised that he probably sounded snappy at Adele but he was touchy about himself at the moment.

Adele smiled at Riley's sweet comment. He was forever the charmer. "Aww thanks" She replied happily. Adele hugged Riley back, wrapping one arm around his waist. She wondered why Riley ended the subject so quickly, he usually loved to talk about himself. That was typical Riley...he loved himself, but that's what made Adele love him so much, he could constantly sit and compliment himself and would never get bored of it or feel bad about it. Adele wasn't sure whether to question it or leave it, but she decided to go along with it anyway. "Okay..." She told him, he seemed a bit snappy and she wanted to calm him down a little. "You okay?" She asked, kissing his cheek, before taking Lowan's hands and baby walking him towards the lake with the bread to feed the ducks. "Come on Lowan lets go feed the duckies...I'm sure Daddy will follow us." She said in childish voice, taking one last look back at Riley, as she handed Lowan a small piece of bread for him to throw into the lake. She was worried about her husband.

Riley swallowed hard and nodded. He wasn't fine, in no way was he fine but he wasn't going to pick at the wound here. He would just do what he had been doing since Lowan was born, bottle it up. It may have been killing him inside slowly but the way he saw it, it was well deserved. He wasn't human after all, in his opinion he wasn't anyway. He just hated himself now for taking it out on Adele but he couldn't help it. He had just slipped up. He watched her take Lowan, a part of him knowing it was right. Taking his son away from him. He was dangerous. He just didn't know what to do any more. He was drowning and with the weight of the world on his shoulders he just couldn't get to the surface again.

Riley walked to the edge of the bank and knelt down looking at his reflection. A beautiful stranger looked back. Every part of his face was perfect and admirable. The problem was, Riley didn't recognise himself any more. With a quick swipe he hit the water and broke the waters stillness before standing up again. With a sighed he looked towards his wife and son. A happy pair, he wondered if it was best if he stayed with them. Again, a topic for another time. He walked over to Adele sullenly and stood by her side, like a good husband. If only he was just that

Riley wasn't acting right, and Adele was getting even more worried now. He hadn't answered her when she asked if he was okay. Riley always told her things, even when they were apart, he had the decency to tell her about him being a were-wolf. Adele wondered what was up as Lowan threw the last bits of bread into the lake. Adele picked Lowan up then looked at Riley, again she lovingly kissed his cheek. "I Love You." She whispered into his ear with a sweet smile, she hoped he would cheer-up soon.

Riley watched his son as he through bread into the lake for the ducks to eat. His dad had never done anything like this with Riley when he had been younger, then again the only one Ashton tried bonding with was Theo and look how he had turned out so Riley was glad he had not tried with him. "I know you do. And I love you too." He said to her with a weak smile on his face. "I need to get home now. Cyndi needed my help on something." He said making up an excuse to leave. He needed to think some things over right nowband he needed to be alone to do that. He took half a step forward and kissed Lowan on the head and Adele on the lips before turning and walking towards where he had parked his motor bike whick he had bought from the silver snake.

Adele wondered why Riley was rushing off so quickly. She didn't believe his excuse, not for one minute, Cyndi wasn't that impatient. But Adele wasn't going to question it. Something was up and she was sure that Riley would tell her in his own time. Well, at least she hoped that he would anyway. Adele kissed Riley back before picking Lowan up into her arms, then waving him goodbye with Lowan. "Cya Sweetheart." She said, watching him walk off into the distance as she worried about her husband. "Say bye bye to Daddy Lowan, we'll be seeing him again soon I'm sure." Adele told Lowan, trying her best to sound happy for Lowan as Riley disappeared into the distance and out of her sight.
