Trying to get into the spirit of Hogwarts Gilly had decided to go to the halloween feast, she had been assured by Norton that it wouldn't what she wore, that it wasn't a strict policy, but she had thought it better to turn up as something, so she had bundled herself in random clothing and was intending to just say that she wanted to go home to whomever asked what she was. It was mostly true too. As soon as she got to the room, she remembered why she didn't particularly like this celebration. It was packed with people, it was loud, and she just knew that she wouldn't end up talking with anyone. She knew she could probably stick around the few people she did know, but surely if she did that she would bore them and they'd just want her to go away so, she couldn't do that. Surely not. Gilly instead just found herself somewhere to sit, and looked at the time, she would stay a little bit and then leave when she could. it would only be appropriate that she leave early or as soon as possible given her costume. She didn't want to stick around too much. It was almost plainly obvious on her expression that she just wasn't having a good time. As she never was at these events.

Diana hadn't attended the Halloween Feast in her first year because she had felt like dressing up was a little silly. But now she had to admit she was curious, and while she still didn't want to try too hard, she also knew showing up without a costume was totally lame. So in the end she had put on some cat ears and called it a day. As she entered the great hall, she looked around for anyone she knew. There were a few people she wanted to avoid, but she also couldn't just be seen standing around on her own. Unfortunately, it was hard to really recognize anyone with all the masks and makeup. She walked around, looking left and right. Her eye caught on an older girl sitting around with what looked like a random assortment of clothing on. Diana stopped, raising her eyebrows. "What are you supposed to be? A pile of dirty laundry?"

Gideon always forgot that Halloween was coming up until it was practically too late to get a costume. The previous year, he'd managed to go with just a pumpkin on his head. An entire pumpkin. It hadn't been too bad, and he thought he was pretty close to winning Most Ridiculous, so his standards on costuming were quite low. This year, with nothing else to wear and an unwillingness to stick another pumpkin on his head, he had instead decided to pull down one of the curtains hanging from his four-poster bed in the dormitory, and cut some eyeholes into it. Trying to find white sheets to spare was too much of an effort, so he was quite bizarrely a red-coloured ghost. To cover up for his laziness, the boy had decided he was dressing as Gryffindor's house ghost instead, and that the red colour was totally just symbolic of the house.

Shuffling into the Great Hall, Gideon peered through his tiny eyeholes to scour the crowd for his nearest friend. April was immediately one of the most noticeable people, given how sparkly she looked, but she seemed to be busy with someone else so he decided to keep looking for the time being, waving his arms up and down periodically beneath the sheet and making spooky noises as he walked along. Thankfully, it didn't take him long to find another familiar face, despite almost mistaking her for a walking coatrack. He approached Gilly, overhearing a comment from another girl about her costume which didn't sound like it was supposed to be nice, but he couldn't tell. Gilly certainly did look like a pke of laundry, so it wasn't exactly a lie. Either way, Giddy sidled up next to his frind and continued his arm waving. "Ooooh yes we're the Spooooky Laundry Gang. Tumble dry ooohhhnly."

Gilly looked at the girl who had called her dirty laundry, and laughed in response, mostly to the girl's costume, "I'm ready to leave before I even got here," Gilly replied, "Are you a pile of dirty laundry? That costume's about as interesting as that," Gilly couldn't believe that this girl though her costume was dumb when she all she had done was put on some ears. How silly. Gilly rolled her eyes at the girl but turned her attention to the sheet approaching them, and she'd know that voice anywhere, one of her only friends in the entire school. He was being a sheet or something like that, tumble dry only of course, "Hold on, if we're all piles of dirty laundry the costumes are missing something," Gilly said with a tone that she was up to something, sharing a small glance towards Gideon, she stood up from where she'd been sat, grabbing a cup of water from the nearby table and moving to throw it over the girl with the cat ears. It was a pretty petty move, but the girl had called her a pile of dirty laundry and Gideon had come along talking about tumble drying, and Gilly couldn't really help herself from doing something like that, and honestly, she was now having a good time.

As Diana looked more closely at the girl, she realized she was someone in her own house. Diana rolled her eyes when she insulted her costume in return. "At least I didn't actually try and still look like garbage, unlike you." She said offhandedly, planning to walk on and leave the conversation behind now in search of more interesting people. But then some sort of red... thing appeared. Diana stared for a long moment before she realized this was just someone wearing a bed sheet. "No one asked you." She said coldly. Maybe both these losers in their bad costumes could just spend time together, leaving her to find Domi or one of her sisters. But the girl said they were missing something, making Diana curious as to what she meant. As the girl then continued to throw water on her, Diana stumbled back. Her sweater was completely drenched, and as she clenched her hands into fists she let out a shriek of anger that most people in the hall would probably be able to hear. "How DARE you!?" She exclaimed, horrified. "What is WRONG with you? You shouldn't be allowed at parties like this with normal civilized people!" Diana was angry, very angry. This girl, whoever she was, had humiliated her. In a rage, she stomped over to the food table, grabbed a large cupcake shaped like a spider and threw it at the girl with all her might. "THERE!" She shouted. "Now your costume is as as dirty as it looks!"

Apparently the girl dressed as what was maybe a cat didn't like Gideon's interruption, and the Gryffindor ceased his arm waving at once. "Okie doke, then." So she was trying to be mean after all. What a total buzzkill. Gid had been about to suggest that Gilly accompany him to the spooky tent so they could put some distance between themselves and the discount Cat Tannon, a name he decided to give her as he thought she was possibly attempting to dress as the Minister candidate instead, only to be stopped when Gilly made a cryptic comment and drenched the other girl with water. Gideon gasped, a loud, exaggerated gasp that conveyed more amusement than shock. poop was about to go down.

Catgirl's anger had Gideon grinning madly beneath his sheet, but it was when she decided to refer to everyone else in the Great Hall as civilised people that he finally burst into hysterics. Civilised people? They were surrounded by kids dressed as zombies, skeletons and giant tarantulas. He thought he'd even seen one girl dressed as plant fertiliser or something. They all looked far from civilised, so given the circumstances it just sounded like a ridiculous statement to make. "Hah, I s'pose cats really do hate water." The Gryffindor said, leaning in to his friend. The other girl was lucky it hadn't been pumpkin juice instead, or a soda. That would have been even more unpleasant to be covered in. Gid gasped a second time as the cat retaliated by throwing a cupcake. Ohhhh damn. This was a fight he equally wanted to see unfold, but also one he didn't want to see Gilly getting into, and potentially getting hurt from. That said, if it came down to it, he was sure his friend could beat the other girl with no trouble at all, since she was good at taekwando. Gideon didn't think he'd have a chance if it were him on the receiving end.

Gilly didn't know why this girl was being so prissy, what did it matter if her costume wasn't the best. She was being unnecessarily mean about it, so Gilly didn't feel too bad when she threw the water over her. Certainly not as bad as she would probably feel. Gilly laughed at Gideon's joke, at least happy that he could see the funny side of it, where as this girl was just yelling at her, "Oh no, did you hear that Gideon, me and my dirty laundry aren't civilised!" she joked pretending to almost feel faint at the accusation. Gilly hadn't expect the cupcake. Certainly not. But she looked down at it and then back up at the girl, she knew in a fight she could win, but Gilly didn't particularly want to get into trouble with professors for beating up a younger student. So instead she would have to non-violently(ish) finish this, she picked the cupcake off her outer jacket and looked back at the girl, Gilly licked the cupcake's icing "Hmmm, whiny baby flavour, my favourite! I couldn't possibly keep it all to myself, have a taste," Gilly retorted as she threw the cupcake back at the girl. This was a petty, and stupid fight, but Gilly didn't much care.

Diana had no patience for whoever it was in the Gryffindor sheet. He apparently thought he was funny, even though he clearly wasn't. All her attention was focused on the girl. The stupid annoying girl that had thrown water on her out of nowhere. All she had done was ask a simple question! She felt proud that she had managed to hit her, but the feeling only lasted a moment. Before she knew it, the girl had licked at the icing before throwing it back. "EW!" She shrieked, jumping back. But as she did, she knocked against the food table, knocking over a tray with full cups and a bowl of candy. Both spread over the floor, creating a colorful mess. "Look at what you've DONE!" She shouted at the girl, pointing at her to make sure anyone looking knew who was at fault. With disgust, she noticed she hadn't even managed to dodge the cupcake. It had hit her leg left icing on her pants. And now her shoes were starting to get wet from standing in a puddle of spilled drinks. This was horrible, and it was all her fault. "I'm going to tell on you for throwing water on me and creating this mess." She snapped.
