Scorpius stood on the ground, grey eyes narrowed up towards the sky, watching others perform their tryouts as he passed his worn down beater's bat that he got from his father, back and forth between his hands. He watched Aries' tryout with interest, the boy currently wearing Durmstrang Quidditch gear, had done rather well, he wasn't one to deny someone being a good player. If Scorpius didn't make the team he'd definitely ask the older Ravenclaw for lessons on improving his skill.
However Scorpius was here to tryout for the team in hopes of making it, not just watch and learn. The Ravenclaw had to show what skill he already had. Once it was his turn to take the sky, Scorpius kicked his leg over his beloved Sienna Storm and waited for Lily's signal to kick off into the ground. He was feeling much more excited after having warmed up with all the other Quidditch hopefuls so his adrenaline was pumping, making him zoom up into the air faster. Scorpius only had a few moments to clear his head, narrowing his grey eyes like a hawk in search of a bludger. His vision was rather good and he was much better suited for a Seeker position like his father had tried getting him into, however he much preferred the Beater position for some reason. It was more exhilarating and gave him a bigger thrill than being Seeker, not that it wasn't anyway.
Just as he was shaking his head to rid his mind of any other thoughts other than 'Hit the bludger', he heard one hurtling towards him from behind. Scorpius turned his broom to see behind him, calculating just how far the bludger was from him. Quickly he held his bat in his right hand and swung at it as soon as it was within distance. The ball was whacked back into the direction it came from originally though Scorpius knew it would only come back again, possibly stronger, harder, faster than earlier; he loved how bludgers seemed to have a mind of their own, forget the opposing team they'd play against, the bludgers were his real opponents. Scorpius pointed his broom upward, getting away from the line of field for the bludger and watched it with narrowed eyes as it began making its way towards his original position moments ago. It soon caught on that Scorpius had moved upward so it began going after him. Luckily Scorpius was well aware that it would do that and he had the upper hand, literally when it came to height, so he took his bat and swung at the bludger.
Once again it went flying far away in the opposite direction towards the north goal hoops and Scorpius grinned proudly in triumph. No sooner had he leaned forward on his broom to fly forward, his intentions were to trail behind the bludger so that it wouldn't hit him, then all of a sudden, a second bludger hit him square on his back. A piercing pain shot through his entire back as he arched it and writhed slightly in pain and gritted his teeth. Damn that hurt!, he thought to himself, glad that even with the impact of the bludger, his hand remained gripped tightly around his beater's bat. As if his broom had predicted his next move without actually commanding it, he turned sharply out of the second bludger's way and swung with all his might to hit the bludger. Unfortunately he hadn't exactly calculated how close or far and how fast the bludger was going, so it flew out of his range by the time he swung. Scorpius gritted his teeth in frustration, first being hit by a bludger and secondly missing it to hit it. I've blown it, he thought angrily, before he noticed the first bludger flying back in his direction.
Scorpius gritted his teeth, shaking his negative thoughts out of his mind and reminding himself to make up for his mistake and chose to remain solid in place as he sat on his broom, bat in hand and ready to attack. The bludger was getting bigger, indicating that it was coming closer, and fast, and just as it looked like it was going to hit him right in the chest and knock the air out of him, his left hand let go of his broom and held on to his bat, so that both hands were wrapped around the small bat and swung at the bludger with full force. The bludger immediately went zooming away in zig-zags, seeming as if it had gotten the air knocked out of it instead. Scorpius nodded his head once in triumph before setting off around the pitch to release some pent up frustration at having missed the second bludger mingled with sheer excitement due to his adrenaline. Now there were two bludgers to look after and he had sent the first one skyrocketing elsewhere, had he been playing a game, it would've surely hit someone, an opponent by then. His grey eyes scanned the sky for the second bludger, the Ravenclaw seemingly seeking revenge on the bludger that hit him, his back still throbbing though he paid no attention to the pain as he was playing. Once he spotted it by the south goal hoops, Scorpius sped off after it though it knew he was coming. He spent quite a while chasing after it, all the while checking his peripheral vision for the other, and when he finally felt close enough to hit it, he let go of his broom once more, leaning forward dangerously so as if he was going to tip off his broom. He swung his bat and felt the satisfying sensation of his bat colliding with the hard ball. The force of the swing caused him to lurch forward dangerously, though he grabbed hold of his broom once more, immediately leveling himself out and raised his eyebrows in amazement as he noticed the bludger he just hit colliding with the first bludger, knocking them both off course and away from him. He sighed with a grin and heard the whistle, indicating that he was done and pointed his broom downward, pocketing his bat as he descended. His feet grazed the grass and he pulled his broom sharply to stop and jumped off his broom, grinning and nodded at Lily in thanks.
