It was four in the afternoon, and the tables had been cleared and the great hall was mostly empty. Dinner wouldn't be for another few hours yet, which gave Lucky quite a bit of time to kill. He was thoroughly enjoying his first full day, but hadn't quite worked up the courage to venture to any part of the castle he didn't have to. The school was enormous, and Lucky had absolutely no sense of direction, as he'd proved by getting lost in the dungeons just a few minutes ago. Well - it wasn't his fault all the corridors looked mostly the same! He was sure the layout had changed while he wasn't looking, too. Finally he'd made it to his dormitory and found his box of Quidditch figurines, which he now set out on one of the empty tables in the great hall. He put each player carefully in position and stood the hoops at either end of the 'pitch', which he'd marked out with a long piece of string. "Hey - you want to play Quidditch?" he asked the nearest person, hoping he could convince someone to control the Holyhead Harpies. It wasn't much fun playing by himself.

Tres had spent most of the afternoon sat at the table that she would most expect to find her sister. She'd already searched the common room but didn't dare go off exploring the castle all by herself any more than the ground floor. She didn't need to and she didn't feel like getting lost on her first day. Instead she would wait for Uno. She'd missed her older sister when she had left for Hogwarts, and just knew Uno would want to spend all her time now with her. As she sat at the table, swinging her little legs as they didn't quite touch the floor, and quietly people watched, her eyes wandered towards a voice not too far from hers. Was this boy talking to her? Checking the area to be sure before turning back, she shrugged. "What's Quidditch?" Growing up with the Bears meant growing up as a muggle. If Uno didn't tell her, Tres didn't know.

Eric, while usually already irritable, was in a bad mood. He missed his house, his mum, and his brother. And the knowledge that he shouldn't be homesick this early on was making him even more annoyed. He was supposed to be a man, someone who could take care of his family. Not some baby who couldn't stand being one or two days without them. It was ridiculous and dumb, and he knew he could never tell anyone about it. So it was with a stormy expression that he entered the great hall, hands stuffed in his pockets. In all honesty, he had been hungry and hoping that there would be food around even if it was too early for dinner. But all he found was a couple of kids, one of which was being very loud. Eric approached, noticing the Quidditch pitch the boy had made with many Quidditch figurines. Eric looked at them, then his face twisted in disgust. These figurines were expensive, he knew because he had only one and had received it as his birthday present last year. For this boy to have so many and to flaunt it so obviously made him sick, as well as very annoyed. He looked at the girl who asked the dumb question first, gesturing to the figurines. "Not this. It's not something you play inside with dumb expensive toys. It's a real sport." He said, then sneered at the boy. "But I guess money can't buy talent on a broom, so you'll have to make do with this childish game of pretend cause your parents have enough money to throw at these things." He sneered, picking one up and holding it by its leg so it dangled upside down. "That's just sad."

Nova had spent the majority of her first day at the top of the towers, hanging around the Common Room. It was such a glorious place to be, and although she knew Ilvermorny would have been just as magical, she couldn't help but be in awe of the place that was going to be her home for the next seven years. Although she was disappointed that she wasn't in the same house as the only other person she knew, she figured he probably would have been too much of a distraction anyway, when she was trying to read or watch the sky. The blonde hadn't paid too much attention to who else was in her dorm, or even in her House. She wasn't there to make friends.
The new Ravenclaw had missed lunch, far too fascinated by the things in her Common Room to even think about food. But as the afternoon rolled by, Nova couldn't help but feel the rumble in her stomach - and if last night's feast was anything to go by, she was looking forward to dinner again. Placing her book aside, carefully marking the page she was on, Nova started making her way downstairs, hoping dinner would be ready. She was disappointed to see that the Great Hall wasn't even making preparations for dinner yet. She bet at Ilvermorny, they could eat whenever they wanted to. A familiar voice drew her attention, and Nova only heard the trail end of what her new friend had said.
"Haven't we learnt by now Eric? We're the only non-sad things in existence." Nova said, moving to stand next to the boy, folding her arms and looking at the two others with a look of pity.

Lucky gawped. How could anyone not know what Quidditch was? He didn't have much experience with muggleborns, which was to say he had no experience at all. He opened his mouth to respond but was rudely interrupted by a boy whose face he remembered from the sorting ceremony. He had a mean kind of face, and a mean personality to match. What was his problem? Lucky wasn't hurting anybody. It wasn't his fault his parents could afford to buy him figurines. This kid was probably just jealous. "Hey!" he said, making a swipe for the figure the Gryffindor was holding by its leg. "Would you give that back? That's a collectable." A snooty looking girl had come to his side now, but Lucky hardly registered what she said. He was too worried about his figurine. "It's worth a lot of money! Give it, now."

Zeke was only one day into the new semester and he was loving Hogwarts. It was actually pretty fun being in the same house as his brother and it had been good to spend time with him. For his first full day however Zeke couldn't pass up having a good thorough look around the castle while he still had the time to do so. After exploring large parts of the dungeons, and walking the other way to avoid weird looks from older students who didn't like a Gryffindor sneaking around the dungeon, Zeke returned to level ground and climbed the steps to the entrance hall and could hear a commotion in the Great hall...he couldn't just walk past that when something exciting could be happening.

It was quite the scene in the hall. One boy was trying to play with a set of Quidditch figurines, another boy had taken one of the figurines and was holding it up away from the owner. Among them was two girls, one seemed firmly on the side of the boy who was...for lack of a better word bullying the kid with the figurines, the other girl didn't seem to know what was going on. "Hey cool figurines dude," Zeke wove his way into the group, not really caring if he rubbed anyone the wrong way. ""Whats erm, whats going on here bro?" Zeke turned to the boy dangling the others figurine. "Awfully bold of you to presume he has no Quidditch talent, I guess you're a regular Chad Aria on a broom are you?" Zeke scoffed.

Tres was waiting patiently to hear what the boy had to say, when a second one joined them. For a moment she was glad a group was so quickly forming, until she realised this boy had different intentions. Her eyes flicked between the pair as they argued. As one of the figurines were snatched from her new acquaintance, she wasn't sure how to feel. She had enough siblings that fighting over toys was quite normal, although why this boy started talking about money, she didn't know. "If you don't want to play then don't. Go away." She spoke up, hoping to help out the boy who'd reached out to her. Not much sooner after however, another two students joined the group. It just confused the Slytherin when the girl said they were sad. She wasn't sad at all. Who would be sad to come to Hogwarts? Another boy mentioned something called Chad too, but none of it made any sense. "We're just playing a game. I think" she glanced sideways, no longer sure that was even what was happening. She'd just assumed given the others words. Part of her wished she didn't get involved in an argument so early on, but she'd only wanted to make friends.

Eric couldn't help smiling as he heard Nova's familiar voice, and he shot her a small glance before turning his attention back to the spoiled boy. He was glad she was at his side, even if they weren't in the same house. Their meeting in Brightstone had seemed to be the start of a friendship, and he was glad she was on his side when it came to this stuff. He nearly laughed at the expression on the dumb boy's face, especially as he tried to swipe at it and missed. He scoffed at the boy, still keeping the figurine out of his reach. With his other hand, he gave him a well-aimed shove. "Shut up, dumbass, I'm just looking." He said as he wiggled the figurine in his hand. "I won't drop it, promise." He then added, grinning. "Nova, want a look?" He tossed the figurine to her so he had both his hands free if it came to a fight, which he was almost hoping it would. "You, shut up and stay out of it." He said to the other guy, someone he recognized from his dormitory. He barely looked at him, or the girl that was still babbling away about games. He looked the Slytherin in the eye, then lifted his chin in a slight challenge, taking a step closer to him. "My bad if I interrupted your little tea party with your little dolls, but there's no reason to be so rude." He said, smirking as he backed the boy up against the house table a bit.*

Tres narrowed her eyes and frowned when the bully started demanding things from the other students, and shoving her new acquaintance around. The Slytherin really didn't want to get involved, and had no intention of getting detention on her very first day. "You look with your eyes, idiot." She glared and crossed her arms over her chest. This boy didn't even seem to care that he was annoying everyone. He reminded her of her brother. "Seems this one is ugly and dumb." Tres nodded her head towards the one who'd snatched the figurines, before sliding off the bench and out the Great Hall, shoes tapping quietly on the stones on the way out. She had no reason to stay there with students who were just going to be annoying. She'd had enough of that at home.

When the Slytherin boy yelled for the figurine back, claiming it was expensive, Nova felt a tinge of guilt. She didn't have anything that was expensive, but she knew if she did have something, she wouldn't want someone else playing with it. But then, he had so many of them, so why couldn't he let someone without have a go? He was being selfish, just as all rich people were. Nova smirked when Eric asked if she wanted to look, and she caught it with both hands. She didn't know what was so special about it anyway, but opened her hands to let it fall, after a few seconds. "Oops." Nova said with a shrug. Nova rolled her eyes as the Slytherin girl tried to get involved, before walking away. Chicken. Nova folded her arms, watching as Eric advanced towards the Slytherin boy, keeping an eye on the other Gryffindor boy. The blonde had no idea why Eric was picking a fight, but she supposed he had his reasons, and her loyalty to him - what little there already was - was far greater than anyone else there. Perhaps he was just showing the boy who was boss, and Nova was glad she had picked a friend like him.

Daintree walked into the great hall, the boy was exploring his new school. it was nice to be completely independent towards his parents, especially since he was decided to be decidedly bitter towards his parents. Immediately upon entering he noted one of the few friends he'd made so far at school, Lucky, who seemed to be in a bit of bother with some other kids from their year group. He watched vaguely as a boy, some non-slytherin grab the figurines that Lucky had been going on about before, so they were expensive. He wouldn't have intervened, happy to stay wake and watch the whole thing unfold, but lucky was one of his first friends. Somewhere between the figurine being dropped and the other boy moving closer to Lucky, Daintree decided he would maybe do something. "Hey!" the boy yelled out, making his way over to the girl and boy who'd taken and smashed the valuable thing. There was another boy, but Daintree was more focused on the pair who'd just wronged his friend. He ignored the girl, going directly for the boy that was pushing lucky more into the table, clearly trying to be threatening. The figurine could be replaced, Daintree would replace it if necessary, so he cared more about defending his friend. He went to shove the boy away from Lucky, "Go away," he said as he did so.

"Thank you!" Lucky said, glad somebody appreciated how cool his figurines were. He didn't know the Gryffindor boy who had come to his defence, but he had a quick wit that Lucky could only dream of possessing. He nodded in agreement at the Slytherin girl's comment. What was this kid's problem? Jeez! He made to swipe again for the figure, but had barely raised his hand when the boy shoved him backwards. "Hey! What're you doing? Don't shove me. Give me my figurine!" He watched helplessly as it was tossed to the snooty Ravenclaw, who promptly dropped it on the floor. He wanted to make a scrabble for it, but the mean Gryffindor had him backed up against the table. He swallowed down the lump in his throat. What was he supposed to do?! It didn't take a genius to figure out who would win between them in a fight. This kid looked like he had practice.

Lucky heard a voice yell out, but didn't realise it was Daintree until he shoved Eric. Daintree! Lucky always knew he was cool. Without wasting time, Lucky dived on the floor to rescue his figurine. He quickly gathered up as many of the other players on the table as he could and shoved them in their storage box, not looking around to see what was going on behind him.

Eric didn't care that one of the girls called him ugly and dumb and that she left. He was too focused on the boy in front of him. At this time, he was almost a symbol for everything Eric hated. Someone who had it easy and had to flaunt that, to feel superior to others for it. He snorted as he heard Nova drop the figurine, turning his head to look at her for a moment. But it seemed like that was a mistake. Out of nowhere, another boy approached. Eric grunted in surprise as he was shoved back, then glared at the newcomer. Fueled now by anger and adrenaline, he took an angry step forward. "Don't get involved unless you want a beating." He snapped. Then he shot a look to the other kid, who dived onto the floor. He aimed a kick at him. "Don't think you're getting out of this, coward." He snarled, then he shoved the new boy hard. "I can take you both if I have to."

Zeke was glad another boy had appeared to the defense of the boy with the figurine. The other Gryffindor hadn't come across well their first night, he had been the one boy who wanted nothing to do with anything his roommates had been planning, it seemed surprising he had a friend in the Ravenclaw girl as he didn't come across as the type to even want friends. Zeke laughed when Eric announced he could take them both, he wasn't sure if he was referring to the boy on the floor and the new arrival or the new arrival and Zeke but it didn't really matter. Zeke moved in between Eric and Lucky after the Gryffindor went to kick the boy on the floor. "Listen anger management, you might be a walking advertisement for child therapy but that doesn't mean I won't kick your a**" Zeke said moving to shove Eric.

Nova scowled and rolled her eyes when yet another boy joined the fray. They were all so ego-seeking, desperate to be the heroes and save someone. She narrowed her eyes as the new Slytherin boy shoved Eric, but snorted as the smaller Slytherin boy scooted away. What a coward - unable to stand up for himself. Needed his friends to do it for him. She stepped over to where he was trying to grab his figurines, and the ones that were left, Nova swept her arm across the table to knock them on the floor. She didn't know why she did it - he was just so obnoxious and stupid and with all the commotion happening, the adrenaline was running through her veins. Nova snorted when Eric called the coward a coward. This is why they were friends; they were on the same wave length. She wasn't really one to get physical, but if Eric wanted to, he could do whatever he damn wanted to. It didn't mean she was going to get involved, but she'd support whatever decision he made. Even if that was a stupid decision to get his butt handed to him by two other students.

Samantha was bored, so she decided to go to the Great Hall to see if she could do anything there. Once she got to the Great Hall, she noticed a group of people crowding around the Slytherin House Table. It seemed to her that there was a fight, and was worried for anyone who got hurt. So she decided to walk to the table as fast as she could. "What the heck is going on here?" Samantha said curiously and slightly worriedly.

Daintree half noticed that as he stepped in, the other boy had dived to the little figurine. Daintree resisted the urge to roll his eyes at the boy, but it was clearly important to Lucky and Dain wasn’t going to stop him doing that. The other boy, the one Daintree had just shoved, turned to him, snapping at him. ”I’d like to see you try,” he narrowed his eyes at him, daintree had been in a couple of fights before, he’d been friends with popular kids and occasionally, the people he’d been friends with were a little dumb or they got into situations they needed to fight their way out of. The boy who threatened to give him a beating, certainly seemed to be the sort of person who’d gotten into a fight before but Daintree wasn’t going to back down, certainly not when the boy went to kick Lucky, ”Leave him alone,” Daintree told him taking a few steps towards the boy. But the other boy, someone who hadn't jumped in before seemingly was opting to now, going so far as to push the other boy. This boy he didn't know and didn't care about. He knew he was choosing to be loyal to Lucky early, he wasn’t even that sure that he liked the boy, but they’d spoke before, and were basically friends, he had to be loyal to him. Daintree steadied himself after being pushed back, it had been a hard shoved from the other boy, followed by a threat, ”Touch him again and we’ll see if you can even take me coward,” Daintree stepped back close to the boy, ignoring the dumb comment from the other boy and focusing on basically challenging the one who'd shoved Lucky. Daintree didn’t know Lucky well, but he wasn’t sure the boy was much good in a fight, so he didn’t want to end up in a fight where he had to also look out for him while trying to avoid getting hit too hard. Some girl asked what was going on, and Dain wondered if there was an occasion to get out of this, there were a lot of people and might increase the likelihood of them getting into trouble. "Shall we take this outside? Or are you good with right here?"

Samantha pinched the bridge of her nose and shook her head 'oh my Merlin, are they really going to fight on their first year of Hogwarts' Samantha thought to herself. She didn't want to intervene but she already kind of did. She didn't want those boys to get caught by a professor. "I don't think this is necessary. You both will probably get caught by a professor if you both don't stop." Samantha said with slight courage but with nervousness. She knew that deep down that what she said wasn't going to work but at least trying was better than nothing.

Lucky was only vaguely aware of what was going on behind him while he collected up his figurines. He almost had them all in the box when the mean Gryffindor's sidekick swept her arm across the table, knocking the last few off. "Hey!" he yelled, making to lunge at her - he wasn't afraid to shove a girl; he had sisters - when the appearance of a Hufflepuff stopped him in his tracks. Only at her question did Lucky look at the boys and realise the full extent of the situation. They were literally about to tear each other's heads off, all over some stupid quidditch figurines! Lucky knew this wouldn't end well - and though it felt great to have two kids standing up for him, he didn't want them to get into trouble, or worse, hurt. "Guys, guys, she's right," he tried to reason, forgetting the figurines on the floor. "It's cool. You don't have to fight. He's not worth it."

Something about Zeke's interference made Eric lose all reason. He growled at the boy as he shoved him, then balled his hand into a fist and punched him square on the jaw*. Incensed, he then turned to the Slytherin boy, only vaguely noting a girlish voice asking what was happening. He had no time for her, he had to fight his way out of this. "I can take you right now." He grit out, then tried his best to hit him as wel, his arm flying out at him next. He had been completely consumed by his anger for now, and had almost even forgotten about the annoying boy with the figurines. He vaguely heard him say something, but the ringing in his ears was too loud to make anything out. He felt cornered and outnumbered, and Eric's instinct in that situation was always to fight his way out. Literally.

Leda had been minding her own business, sat at the Slytherin table and contemplating whether her latest article was going to be good enough. It seemed so much easier to write when she knew no one was going to actually read it. Were her ideas even good enough anymore? It was much easier when she was younger to come up with something entertaining, eve if she and everyone else knew it was untrue. Since her sisters departure last year, it was as though Leda had lost a little of herself, and she was still trying to figure out where that had gone.

Her attention was broken however by what only could have been described as a cluster of tiny children, none of whom she recognised, which was alot given how often Leda loved to people watch. For a few minutes the fifth year proceeded to scribble down a few of the students comments. For all she knew their quotes could come in handy in the future. She didn't plan to interact with them however until she spotted one of them shoving another, the incident reminding her of the time the corridor was swarming with unruly kids in front of Professor Pendleton. Sliding her legs off the bench, she took a few steps towards them, easily a head taller than most. She had reached the group a little late however as she quickly witnessed one of the Gryffindors outright punching the one he'd been bullying. Even Leda thought a bit of violence was needed to get the message across at times, but to a first year as soon as they got here? Not so much. "Oi." She pushed her way through the crowd, annoyed that she appeared to be the only person over the age of ten to try and help the newbie. She didn't really care if these kids thought she was meddling. Remembering how it felt to be a first year was hard enough and no one deserved to get hit like that, especially over what looked like some toys. The boy was on some kind of rampage as he began to attack other students too. Eventually she managed to grab the Gryffindors shoulders, fingers digging in slightly in her annoyance. "What are you, another b****y Cade?!" She met enough of those family members to last a lifetime. "You're the only thing being taken out right now." She glared at the kid, trying to nudge him away from the others. "Besides," She began, whispering under her breath, "If you're gonna punch someone, you need better technique than that if you don't want to ruin your knuckles."

Daintree rolled his eyes at the girl who was saying it wasn't worth it. It was worth it to prove his loyalty to Lucky and ensure that his first possible school friend was defended. He was focused on the gryffindor boy, trying to see how this would play out. He wasn't sure it was a good idea to be fighting on his first day. He was distracted by Lucky, who suddenly seemed to decide that this maybe wasn't as worth it as it had been moments before. Right when things were about to boil over, he felt half like telling Lucky to shut up while he dealt with, but perhaps the other boy was right. Certainly there was a lot of attention on them, and . he had to assume that the professors or a prefect would descend upon them soon. He watched the gryffindor punch the other one, and then round on him. Daintree focused on him with a deep glare unwilling to stand down, but missed the punch as it hit him square in the jaw, the pain was immediate and he stumbled a little with the force, but the reaction was pretty instantaneous, he balled up his fist and went to hit the other boy back. But he didn't get the chance as an older girl seemed to be getting herself involved in what was happening, grabbing the boy who'd targeted Lucky. Dain turned quickly and tightly grabbed Lucky who was thankfully close, "Let's go. Now Lucky," the boy spoke shortly, keeping a good clutch on him as he pulled for a few moments to indicate that they were leaving this situation immediately and as quickly as he could, they attention was focused on the Gryffindor boys and Dain was happy to use this moment to get him and Lucky out. ”Come on!”

As a Hufflepuff girl arrived, Nova snorted. There were so many people involved now, she would be surprised if every single one of them got into trouble. She could plead her innocence so easily, or even just slip away when a Professor arrived. The Slytherin boy with the figurines called out that Eric wasn't worth it, and Nova let out a laugh. "Good on you for listening to your girlfriend. Looks like your lackey's don't know who's boss yet, though." Nova said, folding her arms and looking back just as Eric swung at the Gryffindor. Nova winced - she sure as hell would never want to be punched. An older Slytherin girl joined the fray, and Nova wouldn't have been surprised if Eric hit her too - though she hoped he was above that. The other Slytherin boy was hit, and Nova laughed as he backed away and grabbed the first Slytherin boy. Nova took a step away from them, half raising her hands as if to say I had nothing to do with it.

Samantha was happy that someone listened to her. The rude Gryffindor and the protective Slytherin didn't bother her at all. Samantha noticed that a Ravenclaw girl was acting all innocent. Samantha knew she wasn't. She rolled her eyes, shook her head and crossed her arms before waking away from the situation. Knowing clearly well that she wasnt really helping the situation

Eric felt a surge of pride when he managed to hit both boys he had been aiming for. To be fair, this wasn't his first fight. He grinned savagely at the Slytherin he had punched, then looked at the other boy, the one with the figurines. But before he could do anything else, a girl pushed her way through the small crowd and grabbed his shoulders. Eric snarled and shook her off violently. "Hey!" He snapped. "I don't know what the hell a Cade is, but don't touch me!" He scowled at her. "I'm not ruining my knuckles, leave me alone!" He didn't care that she had whispered the last part to him, as he didn't care if he was ruining this dumb girl's dumb reputation or whatever. He glared angrily as he saw the Slytherin boys retreat, and cupped his hands around his mouth. "COWARDS!" He yelled. The Hufflepuff girl left too, but Eric had barely noticed her. He was furious, and with nowhere else to direct the fury he turned on the girl who had interrupted. "Why don't you mind your own business!" He yelled at her, even though she was standing nearby. He always hated this part, when the fight was over and realisation set in that he had lost it and messed up, once again. It was only now that he noticed the girl had a prefect's badge on, and he knew he was going to be in trouble. He sighed and rolled his eyes. "Are you gonna arrest me now?" He said mockingly. He knew he was in trouble, but definitely wanted to keep Nova out of it. She hadn't really done anything besides have his back.
