It was an entirely new adventure being a parent. To take care of a child that in every way other than biologically was his own, not that it mattered when the only family Archie knew prior to adopting Dash weren't biologically related to him, either. In every way and regardless of the fact they weren't blood related Dash was precious to Archie, a diamond and easily one of the most valuable things in Archie's life. No sooner than he had adopted her had she marked a place in his heart for the rest of his life, and he promised himself he would do everything he could to make her happy. Archie was on a mission to do exactly this, after he had found out his friend Kylie from years ago was also a parent to a three year old. He had asked himself whether Dash would be happy if she had a new friend, and had answered the question almost as quickly; of course she would. Every child liked to play with other children, at least Archie liked to think so, and every child would be happy to play with a friend. So he had organized a play date for Dash and Kylie's daughter paired with a lunch for him and Kylie as well, so they could catch up on their lives and gossip over sandwiches, one of the few things he could make easily, and orange juice. Maybe the orange juices would even turn into mimosas if Kylie felt like their lunch needed a little more sparkle, who knew. That was the beauty of reconnecting with a friend he hadn't seen in so many years, reveling in the joy of catching up on each other's lives with a drink or two as their children played.

Archie had attempted his best to be the ever responsible parent, returning Dash's toys scattered around the living room to their box next to her dollhouse that was now below the living room window, and cleaning each of the surfaces, the coffee table, the dining table, and the kitchen counters even if he didn't have the patience required to be thorough. Thankfully the house was usually relatively clean and the task not too exhausting for him before he used his remaining energy to make a few sandwiches. He had decided a plate they could pick from would be enough, that both Dash and Kylie's daughter could even choose sandwiches for themselves if they were hungry. And with the sandwiches on a platter on the dining table and a jug of orange juice next to four glasses, Archie placed his hands on his hips in confidence, proud of himself and his ability to be a housewife even if he was still relatively new to the concept of it.

The last thing would be for Kylie and her daughter to arrive, and luckily for Archie he soon heard the knock on the door to signify their arrival and felt a sense of giddy nervousness, both for Dash and for himself as he couldn't wait to see how Kylie had been over the last few years. With Dash peering over the edge of the sofa curiously, Archie opened the door to greet Kylie, unable to keep a wide smile from his face at seeing his friend again. "Hey! Come on in, I made sandwiches." He greeted, holding the door open for the pair and nodding to the platter on the nearby dining table.
