Flavio was content, his participation in the wheelbarrow race with Rory and the promise of ice cream as a reward for their efforts being the perfect way for him to unwind and make the most of the holidays. They hadn't won a place, but the ice cream still felt deserved and he couldn't think of a better way for them to end their day. As they headed to the ice cream parlour Flavio was feeling particularly nostalgic for the previous time they participated in a wheelbarrow race; realizing that the outcomes were similar and they did not place that day either, but they still went for ice cream afterwards for no other reason than they wanted to, in much the same way they were in that moment. It was difficult for Flavio to think of anything other than the changes in both his friendship with Rory and in their lives in general during the time that passed, how much they and everyone else in their school year had grown up. They were no longer third years, but sixth years and graduation was around the corner, and would be on their doorstep sooner than they could imagine. Shaking his head, Flavio tried to push those thoughts aside for the time being, so he could focus on the task at hand, brow furrowing slightly as he glanced at the ice cream flavors available. "Which one should I choose? They all look delicious." He commented, looking over to Rory to gather the boys opinion. Being someone that didn't have a go to, favourite flavor of ice cream, choosing was always a bit of an ordeal and he hoped Rory would suggest something for him.

Rory was happy with how they’d done in the wheelbarrow race, but he had been even happier at the promise of ice cream, one that he’d largely made to the other boy but a nice way to wind down during this break. The slytherin did also like spending this time with Flavio, they didn’t have much time to spend together and Rory could appreciate his friend a lot. It had also been a while since they’d done this, the last wheelbarrow race had been some years ago and they were no longer those young boys. If anything they were both in a better position. The slytherin knew his friend was likely on to achieve great things, and Rory would head home, he’d be sure to bring Flavio there, to help him get a great set of suits, make him try all the things Rory had talked about. Rory knew their lives after school would diverge heavily, so he could enjoy his company in the parlour for now. Knowing that his friendship with the other boy was one of the better parts of Rory’s own life in NEw Zealand, no matter what others thought about him or their friendship.

He looked at the different flavours, ”Vanilla’s always solid,” the boy replied pointing to the plain flavour, he liked vanilla, but with so many other options he wasn’t going to just pick that one, ”ah’m just gonnae get some chocolate,” that was probably equally plain as a flavour but he liked that flavour and this was a treat, so why not. He ordered his ice cream without much hesitation, Rory had always just gone for what he wanted without too much of an afterthought. He tended to just do what he wanted. ”Ah’ll find us a table,” Rory said with a little smile, motioning over to where there were a couple of free tables by the window. He didn’t particularly want to wait for the boy at the counter when he could ensure that they got a table. Plus, he knew that Flavio would decide soon enough that it wasn’t like he was deserting his friend.

Ever since taking part in one of Honeydukes' chili chocolate eating competitions, Flavio had been unable to properly stomach chocolate, so as quickly as he nodded to agree with Rory's suggestion to choose vanilla ice cream, he also shook his head when Rory decided to pick chocolate. Putting the thoughts of the sickly sweet and spicy, yet bitter flavor of chili chocolate that lingered in his mouth for weeks out of his mind, he looked over the available flavors again, eventually opting to choose strawberry. It was a fail safe option that had him feeling content as he paid for his order and looked around the parlor to find the table Rory chose by the window. Sitting in the chair across from Rory, Flavio smiled at his friend, moving his attention momentarily to the street outside and then back to him. It was a bit of an exposed place to sit, where any stranger could walk past and see them eating their ice cream and chatting to each other about their day, but it was also comforting to know that he and Rory could be easily spotted by their other friends that might have somehow made their way through obsidian harbour at the same time. "Does it bother you that we did not win the race?" Flavio asked, hoping that Rory wasn't bothered because it would ruin the calmness of getting ice cream if he knew he had disappointed him.
