Greetings!
I hope your holidays were more than wonderful, and now that your lives are settling back in to their usual swing you're prepared for some insanity on HNZ!
Y11 is coming to its close. That means a tonne of things are about to happen that you should probably be aware of. Here's a nice summary:[ul][li]Graduation
Our seventh years are graduating! All seventh years have been sent a PM with basic information which they will probably want to reply to.
The graduation forum will be opening later this evening, then the chaos will begin.
Any guests invited will have special permission to reply to graduation topics and will be sent a PM informing them of their invitation.
Graduation will close seven or eight days from its opening.
[li]Exams (& OWLs & NEWTs... oh my!)
The blackest part of this transition is undoubtedly exams for student characters.
Exams should be posted by your professors by this coming Monday.
You will have until Wednesday to complete them all.
We request that professors give fifth and seventh year characters one to two additional days to complete their OWLs and NEWTs as they're writing the OWLs and NEWTs for both semesters of classes.
[li]Group Promotions
It's important to sandwich a bad point inbetween two good ones. So here's the second good one: Everybody's moving up in the world!
After exams complete, all Hogwarts students will be promoted to their next year in the school.
Graduates will be placed in a temporary "Graduates" holding group so they can wrap up any loose ends in the school, and of course attend the End of the Year Feast.
[li]The End of the Year Feast
This will open next Thursday - and you should all be sure to be there. I can't say for sure that badges will be award for attendance, but it's always a nice way to wrap up another of your character's school years.
[li]The Wheelbarrow Race
The wheelbarrow race is still ongoing, but you should look for that finish line coming up soon!
Also remember that participants in the wheelbarrow race will have an appropriate badge added to their account, to show how awesome it is to participate in site-wide shenanigans.

[li]In Character Superlatives
You can read all about them in this announcement - but a gentle reminder never hurt anybody!
You only have another day or so to nominate. Then, nominations will be closed, compiled, and voting will be open until the end of Y11.
The people you choose for each award will be featured in Y11's edition of HNZ's annual yearbook, Accio![/li][/ul]
With all the end of the year excitement, of course, comes the beginning of the year jitters, especially for those young folk who are only being sorted this coming year.
Sorting! YES! SORTING AT LAST!
As the site calendar indicates, sorting will be starting up as soon as Y11 finishes its wrap up. Expect a special announcement for both sorting and transfers. (Yes, I said transfers. They'll be able to be applied for again in Y12 - but if anything like what happened for Y11 occurs, I won't hesitate to axe them again.)
I hope you're all as excited as ever,
~Nick
