As excited as he was for tonight, Kauri's stomach was aflutter with nerves. He didn't want to get his hopes up, and definitely didn't want to make Rose feel pressure, but tonight was special. Rose had wanted to get ready with her friends, so Kauri was waiting outside the hall for her, trying not to let his fears get the best of him. Everything had to go perfect tonight. Kauri liked Rose, wanted her to like him too, but more importantly, he liked having her as a friend, and if she wasn't interested in him, he desperately didn't want to do anything to damage that growing friendship. So tonight, he had to do everything right. Make her happy and comfortable, have fun, but never pressure her. Tonight had to be perfect. Kauri had wanted to give her something, but he felt that the pink rose had been too formal, so he had settled for a daisy, holding it in his hand nervously as he waited for Rose to meet him.

Rose wasn't sure if this was a good idea, but she did feel excited for the night. She felt some guilt towards Charlie, but they had broken up and now she was just going to have a nice night. She hadn't promised Kauri anything, she just wanted to see what the night would bring. Rose was flattered by the pink rose the prefect had sent her, and he was definitely cute. Her friends had helped her do her hair, which was in a long ponytail. Rose had endured Harley's teasing all evening, and while she didn't mind too much, she was glad to get away from it too. Most of her jokes revolved around the fact that Kauri was a prefect like herself, though she also seemed to find it funny that Rose's date was younger than her. But all that was forgotten when she saw him waiting for her. The daisy in his hand was adorable, and Rose felt her cheeks flush as she approached him. "Hi Kauri." She said softly.

As nervous as he was, Kauri couldn't help the bright grin that spread across his face as soon as his eyes fell on Rose. She looked beautiful, of course she did, and Kauri felt struck by how lucky he was to be going to the dance with her. Even if they ended the evening nothing more than friends, he liked spending time with Rose a lot, and was sure it was going to be a good time. "Hi!" He said happily, offering her the flower. "This is for you."

The grin Kauri showed the moment he saw her made Rose pause for a moment. It was... pretty cute, and she really liked that her mere appearance got such a reaction out of him. She blushed a little, playing with her hair uncomfortably for a moment. She wasn't sure how to deal with liking a guy who wasn't Charlie. She found herself thinking less and less about her ex boyfriend, which she supposed was a good sign. She smiled, taking the daisy from him. "Thank you." She said, tucking it behind her ear. Then, she offered him her arm. "Let's go dance." She told him, smiling. "Unless you want to do something else?"

Kauri's smile slipped very slightly as he saw Rose looking nervous. He didn't want to put any pressure on her by being too enthusiastic, and worried he had been too excited to see her. The moment passed quickly though, and he smiled again as Rose accepted the daisy. He took her offered arm with a cheerful nod. "Dancing sounds perfect!" Kauri said happily, walking into the Great Hall with Rose, and heading right to the dancefloor.

Rose was glad the boy agree that dancing was the best idea right now. They were at a dance, after all. Talking would be boring, though the snacks were a little tempting as well. She shot Kauri a grin, then adjusted the daisy behind her ear. "Let's go!" She said eagerly, then headed over to the dance floor with him. She let go of his arm and started to dance happily, glad for the upbeat music. "Show me what you can do, prefect." She teased him, even if she was a prefect herself.

Kauri couldn't wipe the smile off his face as he made his way to the dancefloor with Rose, unable to believe his luck. However nervous he had been about tonight, so far, things felt great. Rose definitely seemed happy to be with him, and ultimately, that was what mattered to Kauri. He laughed happily as they reached the dancefloor, starting to dance with Rose cheerfully. As nice as the thought of slow dancing with Rose was, Kauri was glad for the upbeat song, giving them a nice, fun tune to dance to. "You know I've got moves." Kauri giggled, busting out some of his funniest fake disco moves.
