Leo had always liked halloween, it wasn't an occasion he dressed up for, in fact he wasn't wearing a costume then, but he was at the feast. It was just the one with the least amount of pressure and the most delicious snacks. Given that he was now a seventh year, and unlikely to experience another halloween like this, Leo had known he would go. He didnt need a costume to go, and didn't need to spend with anyone either. He thought it could be fun to go with a friend, but knew that he really didn't need to. Leo just went to the snack table, grabbing an array of snack and sitting himself down at a table to be able to enjoy them.

there was a problem with being a seventh year. it was the last year and they were already two months into it. how had the time gone so fast. Sky was fairly sure that before she knew it graduation would be looming before them ready to cast them into the world of adults. the other problem was that every event was not just the event. but their last. she had had her last first day back at school a night in the dorm with the girls, their traditional sleepover complete with lollies and butter beers.
Now it was Sky's last halloween. She was, of course, going with Ngawaiata but she had headed down to the hall early as she hadnt wanted to miss any of the night. plus she had put so much effort into her costume she wanted to make the most of it. she had managed to use some invisibility cloak fabric to make parts of her body look invisible, specifically her neck, tummy and parts of her legs, a task that had been harder to sew than she had thought and then attached it to a white crop top and shorts before adding some ivy and body paint to it in a way that she thought of as a sort of statement about the balance of climate and technology.
she wandered around taking in the decorations until she reached the snack table picked up a pumpkin biscuit and recognised a familiar face sitting at a table nearby. "Happy Halloween Leo" she said once she had walked over to him. "I see you are bringing out your costume from first year" she said. it felt so long ago when they had spent their first Halloween together neither of them in costumes. but instead making friends over plates of food.

Leonardo had begun tucking into the snacks he'd picked when Harmony sat down with him. "Happy halloween," he replied, with the closest thing to a smile that Leo could manage with ease. Sky was his closest friend, and he was thankful for all her friendship over the years. Especially as she reminded him so. "Yeah, though this time, it's intentionally not a costume," he said. "Your costume is interesting and not at all like the one you wore in first year,"

Sky smiled back at Leo. and took took a seat. as he wished her happy halloween. "thank you" she said putting her small selection of snacks down. and picking up a lollie to eat.
she smiled and chuckled slightly as Leo said that this time his lack of costume was intentional. "The difference is this year you are not dressed up as Leo, but being genuinely Leo, and it looks a lot better on you" she said . She nodded when he said that her costume wasn't like her first year one "Well I hope not. I put a lot of effort in this year. I'm a plant-powered android." she said. there had been a thought that had started the costume idea. a conversation she had had with her dad one day over dinner, about how humans had gone to rely so much on technology, and how technology was wiping out nature when in reality preserving the natural environment was what was needed to keep people, and technology alive.

Leo picked a snack to eat from his selection, and blushed lightly at her words. it was kind of her to say as much and to a degree truth. he was far more Leo now, than he had been back then. When he had been himself for halloween. "it's a cool costume," he said. He didn't quite know what an android was, but he knew the costume was cool. "I like it," he added though he knew his opinion on it likely didn't matter too much.
