Oh you short muffin

'I'm fine, thanks', Rue replied, smiling nervously. She didn't know how to react to what he said next. She wanted to be his girlfriend, but she felt she wasn't good enough. Miles deserved someone better than her, so why did he like her? 'No, not at all, I do like you, a lot', she added the 'a lot' a little quieter than the rest of her sentance. She wanted Miles to know that she did care, that she did want to be more than just friends, but she had no idea how to put it. She smiled as he handed her some food and a cool drink. 'Thanks', she said, taking a sip, which gave her a good few seconds to think about what to tell Miles. She struggled to swallow her mouthful though, when he told her she was the best girlfriend he'd ever had. Blushing, Rue looked down at her food and realized she wasn't hungry - She was far too excited and nervous to eat. Looking up into his eyes, she forgot that she felt shy, and she put her hand on the table, palm facing upwards, hoping he'd hold it in his own. I'm sorry, I'm such an idiot. I love you', she said quietly, her eyes darting from his left eye to his right as she swallowed back the lump in her throat. And she meant what she said, too, but she was scared Miles would take it the wrong way.

Miles kept calm and thinking over a million reason why girls acted strange about the simplest thing in life. He suppose their action had to do with hormonal pressure or that thing they all get every month made them act so silly around anyone. "Look cheer up Rue, your making it feel like were married something" he tease the smaller girl. There shouldn't be pressure between them, pressure shouldn't exist at all. Except when a girl you like a lot says they love you. "Rue are you sure bout that?" he decline to say and ask her in his usual teasing voice. The pressure was on, it suck. It felt heavy and he was so sure there's no easy escaping the l-o-v-e word. He picked at his slice, his appetite vanish when the L-bomb was drop. Oh did it suck!

Rue nodded nervously. 'I'm sorry', she said again, seeming to be apologizing a lot. It looked as though he'd been put off his slice. She just wanted them to both feel comfortable with it, and if they didn't, perhaps they should be together. 'Look, I'm ok either way. I don't mind just being friends. I love you as a friend and it can stay that way if that's what's easiest', she said in a serious tone, which didn't happen very often. She tried not to look too disheartened. She was being honest - She didn't mind, but she had risen her hopes too high. It was just far too awkward for them, it seemed, to be a couple again, no matter how much they wanted it deep down. 'I just don't know', she added, picking at her slice in the same way that he was. Her stomach was in knots.
