Ai had had enough. Well, no, not really, but she'd had an inkling that her husband was keeping secrets from her. And while that wasn't so new, Liam was a thoroughbred Slytherin after all, Ai had a limit to her patience. And she's never been known to have one that was so extensive. After more than a decade and a half of almost peace in the Nightray family, things had begun to move. Perhaps she shouldn't have been surprised. Jai's concession had been unexpected and had left a vacuum within the heirs. And things have begun to move swiftly after that. There had been more movement within the factions and the heirs in the last two years than there had been in the last nearly two decades. Jai's concession, Tizi stepping up, Laurent's twins becoming heirs, Kael's unexpected performance, Gabriel's condition, Laurent meeting with Alexia—yes, she'd heard about that—and Mikael. Things were moving, and she knew her husband had seen it too. In fact, she was guessing he'd seen it first. Which is why she had now marched her way to Mikaela and Jeremiah's family wing. She had no patience left to summon and wait for Miah; besides, she wanted to catch him off guard. And so here she was, just outside their door, mere seconds after she told a house elf to let her long-time friend know that she's arrived.

From inside the wing, if she was listening closely enough, Ai would hear a distinct noise of discomfort and then fear. Jeremiah was not a stupid man. He knew well what kind of things his old friend was capable of, after all they had married into the same family and they were both rather clearly changed by it, though he felt perhaps she was changed more than he was. Ai had always been a fighter though, so suggesting otherwise would have been both untrue and offensive. These days, he'd seen more of Liam than he had in years, and it mostly boiled down to their discussions on the very person currently waiting for him outside that door. Miah knew he and Liam agreed that they did not have much time, but the also didn't know what, or how to go about it.

He sighed, quickly picking up the glass of wine he'd dropped and called a house elf to clear the mess as he waved his hand at the door to open. When Ai walked in she would see him perfectly poised in that Jeremiah way he had about him, glass of wine in each hand - obviously one for her.

Ai's foot was practically tapping as she impatiently waited outside the door. If it weren't for her respect for Mikaela—Merlin bless that woman for putting up with Miah and all his sh*t—she would have definitely barged in. She had birthed one of Miah's kids, and doors weren't a boundary she was concerned with when it came to him. She had almost yelled for what was taking him so long—it really wasn't very long—when the door opened and her eyes narrowed at the man standing in front of her, a glass of wine in each hand. She wasn't supposed to have those anymore, but it wasn't something she advertised to anyone since it became a thing. So, Ai took the glass and held it between her fingers but made no move to drink.

"I know you and Liam are up to something." There was no use in prolonging this conversation. "I want to know what he has you looking into."
