After getting the approval from his Uncle Fletcher of the apartment his parents had extended the stipend to include the rent on his new apartment with the understanding that if they were in town or if Stella needed to sleep over for an emergency they could do so as long as they were paying the rent so the boy had begrudgingly agreed to the conditions but mostly he was glad to have his own space that had nothing to do with his cousin's old bedroom or with his childhood bedroom that made him feel uncomfortable. Wyatt was thrilled at the idea of being so independent even if he was still very much depending on the money his parents were sending him but he really didn't think about it as he had experienced first hand what their wealth was, excluding the fact that his father was still paying off his student loans on a monthly basis. Wyatt's sympathy was minimal on this sense as he had heard that many people would never be able to conceivably pay off student loans and have a mortgage with a house the size of their home. He was okay with taking their money for granted because of this.

The only thing that his parents had not supplied was movers to help him move into his apartment. They said he was young and able - which he was - and could do it himself. However the thought of that was a little sad and lonely so Wyatt called in for reinforcements in the form of Asaiah Murphy who had somehow agreed to help him so long as there was food so he had ordered two pizzas and chicken wings to his very first apartment and started to shift some of the boxes around into the rooms they belonged. He would surely need help with the building of the furniture which was why he had asked Murphy to come on top of the aforementioned reasons. He'd never done something like this after all - not that he expected his best bud to have done it either but at least they could figure it out together.

Floor Plan.

Asaiah had happily told his pal that he would help him move into his new apartment so long as there would be food. He was overjoyed that one of his best friends was finally moving countries because he would able to visit them without having to use a portkey to get there which he refused to use ever since his trip to France. Although he didn't know the exact reason as to why Wyatt was moving from America to New Zealand, the Slytherin was not going to complain about the fact that his bro was now living in the same country as him. Since he had never helped anyone with moving in before he was curious to see how the two of them would tackle this as he figured that there was a lot of furniture that would need to be put together. He banged his fist on his pal's front door thrice, smiling brightly whilst holding onto a six-pack of beers he'd gotten by asking a random adult if they would be so kind to buy it for him since he was still a minor. Today was going to be fun and he was so excited about it that he couldn't stop himself from moving around as he waited for Wyatt to open the door.

At hearing a knock at his door, Wyatt made his way over and a grin was plastered onto his face as he saw it was Asaiah. The two really did need to spend more time together and since that was now a possibility to make up for time they'd lost due to his own troubles he was keen on it. "Hey man," he said. "Welcome to my humble abode," Wyatt said in a fake posh accent that ended up sounding more British than anything. He then shuffled over to the side so Asaiah could come into the two bedroom apartment that was now his. He felt a good sense of relief at having a home that was his in a way that maybe most of his peers would feel uncomfortable with. Sure he was aware of his age and just how young he was compared to all of his neighbours - some who had kids of their own - but this felt a lot more right than sleeping in his cousin's old bed. "Food is on it's way," he told the Slytherin while shutting the door behind Asaiah, unsure of where they should start truthfully.

He grinned back at his friend when he opened the door and stepped inside the apartment. ''Can't believe you got yourself an apartment,'' Asaiah commented, looking around the room as he walked past his friend. He asked himself if his parents would have bought him one too eventually but did not allow himself to think about that for too long in case he'd start to get emotional again. Asaiah still had not told Wyatt about it and wasn't sure if he should because he didn't want to ruin the good time the two had together whenever they would hang out. He put the six-pack down on the kitchen counter and walked towards the living area, impressed by how spacious the two bedroom apartment actually was when it wasn't filled with furniture yet. ''Dude, this is nice,'' Asaiah said, turning back to his pal. He hadn't seen the other rooms yet but if they were going to be just like the living room, the sixteen-year-old was going to be jealous of his friend's new home. He smiled happily at Wyatt when he told him that food was on its way and said, ''You are the best.'' whilst walking back to the kitchen to open the six-pack so he could get a beer for him and Wyatt. ''Where do you reckon we should start first?'' Asaiah asked, wondering if his best bro had thought about which room they were going to be doing first.

Wyatt rolled his eyes playfully at the shock that Asaiah had. It was pretty much common knowledge between the two friends at this point that he was spoiled financially and could really get whatever he wanted if he just asked for the money. He asked. He received. "It's not like I'm paying for it," he told Asaiah with a shrug. In the past the Slytherin had been uncomfortable with the level of wealth Wyatt just thought of as second nature and so he could only assume that this would be similarly uncomfortable for him but at the same time he figured that it was an okay exchange for the other troubles Wyatt had. "Yeah it's pretty cool, there is even a skate park a few blocks away," he told Asaiah gladly even if skateboarding wasn't super popular with wizards as far as he could tell. His teammate, Lizzie, had thought he would maybe throw parties here but Wyatt was just glad to hang out with his friend who he hadn't seen in sometime and so as his bro came back and handed him a beer he decided he wasn't going to outwardly say that he couldn't drink. Instead he nodded as a thank you and would later put it to the side and ignore it's existence. "Uh we could try to put together some of the furniture. I've borrowed some power tools from my uncle because we can't use magic yet," he told Asaiah with a shrug. Wyatt didn't even know if Asaiah had ever used power tools before because he sure had not but this would be a trial by fire for the pair of them.

Asaiah figured that his pal's parents were somehow involved in him getting such a nice apartment, but hadn't said anything about that because he did not want to talk about the wealth of their families. ''But still, not every child our age gets their own apartment, you know.'' Although it wasn't his, the Slytherin figured that the three friends would probably spend some time here during breaks which he was perfectly fine. He didn't know what a skate park was so rather than saying something about it he just nodded. Asaiah tilted his head sideways when his friend mentioned that he had borrowed something called power tools from his uncle and looked at him confusingly hoping for an explanation later. ''And here I wish my birthday would be in June instead of October so I would be allowed to use magic outside of school already,'' he told Wyatt. He did not like that children would have to wait until their seventeenth birthday in order to be allowed to use magic out in public since life at Hogwarts had been much simpler compared to life back home. Asaiah looked around for something that would work as a bottle opener but couldn't find anything that would do the job so instead took out his wand and opened it with the other end of his phoenix tail feather wand. He took a sip of his drink and then turned back to his friend, putting his beer back on the kitchen counter. ''Ready when you are,'' the teen told Wyatt.

Wyatt shrugged his broad shoulders, he didn't feel like defending his parent's agreement to get him an apartment so he just wasn't going to speak more on the matter. It seemed like a moot point either way. He knew it was rare but rarer still was being in the situation that Wyatt had been thrust into and he would not feel badly about using it to some small advantage. "That and we could celebrate out of school," he said, glad for the change in subject. Soon they were going to be seventeen and could do pretty much what they wanted, it seemed a strange thought to a boy who still thought of himself very much as a boy. "Cool," he said and walked towards the first item that they would work on - his kitchen table. Although he had wanted to get a foosball table his parents had denied him that and he had to get a normal one for when they visited, if they visited. "So... How's Jessica?" he asked as he took out the instructions from the box and looked it over taking it in but unsure how it could be complicated when all they had to work on was a wooden slab and four legs but Wyatt did have a habit of underestimating the effort of things.

''I... uh... I don't actually know how she's doing at the moment,'' the teen told his friend. He had completely forgotten to tell his friends that he and Jessica had decided that perhaps it would be better if they would end whatever they had going on as it wasn't working out with everything happening around his family as well as his personal feelings towards certain things afterwards. ''We ended things after the match against Gryffindor,'' the boy added while looking at the instructions his friend was holding on to, hoping that Wyatt had any idea of what they were supposed to do with the building materials inside of the box. If only they were allowed to use magic instead of their hands. ''What about you?'' Asaiah asked as he took the four legs out of the box to get things started. ''Is there anyone you fancy?'' Because the two of them had neither talked nor seen each other for a while, the Slytherin didn't know if there was someone else his best pal liked after breaking up with Amber so was curious to hear if the other sixteen-year-old had his eye on someone at the moment.

Wyatt cringed as Asaiah told him that he and Jessica broke up because compared to Zara he liked the girl way more - of course he had never actually met her but that was part of the reason why he liked her. She was out of his way. Still he felt bad for his bro and said, "Dude we're both single, this year is gonna be great," he suggested trying to force himself to be positive over the year to come with the two of them having the ability to do whatever they wanted together. "Nah, I've been focusing on other things lately... Kinda why I've been AWOL," he told Asaiah but didn't give the exact reason while they worked because they had a lot to do. After looking at the nuts and bolts he had the other boy help him flip the table top upside down and went to work on the first of the legs, they'd get to put the food on this once it was done and would be able to get going on the beds and bookshelves and whatever else his parents had deemed necessary for a first apartment.
