Lysander missed watching movies. He had often visited Wendall for movie nights before the two of them had come to Hogwarts, and it had been a long time since they'd last watched anything together, so when he found out that the Muggle Studies department had its own projector, he knew they had to make up for lost time. Sneaking into the classroom after dark, Lysander scoured the room for the magical movie projector, and got to work trying to set it up while he waited for his friend.

Wendy had eventually made it out his common room without being spotted, and ran along quietly to the muggle studies room. He didn’t think it would be that fun until he realised that films were one of the things they were taught later on. “Hi,” he said to his friend, still whispering once he was inside the room. “Did you pick a movie?” He asked excitedly, joining the Gryffindor at the equipment.

It took Lysander a while to figure out what he was doing with the magical contraption, but he finally appeared to get it working and was sorting through movies by the time Wendall arrived. "There's a few but I haven't looked at them all yet." He told him. He shuffled through the small stack of movies available, lingering on Pride for a second before moving it to the back to continue his search. "They've got The Thing! Do you wanna watch that?" He suggested. It was the scariest one he'd found so far.

Alexei was the only one to notice his roommate sneaking out of their shared dormitory. Alexei, curious followed behind minutes later to see what the boy was up to. Alexei enters the Muggle Studies classroom his eyes frantically roaming their surroundings. "What classroom is this? What are you guys doing?" Alexei spoke in a whisper as he spotted the other boy that was in the room, it turned out to be Lysander. "Hey," Alexei drew closer while eyeing the muggle contraption that was on. "What is that?"

And this is what happens if you don't watch a topic..

Wendall was kneeling down beside his friend, and he took the film from the Gryffindors hands, "I've already seen it," he said, a little disappointed. The best horrors by far were ones that he hadn't seen before because then he could properly be scared. It was no good if he knew what to expect. He looked up at another voice and saw one of the boys from the zoo. It had been Lysander that helped Wendall when he slipped on the stairs, but he could have sworn he was there too, but he'd only just recalled it was really him.

Lysander shrugged his shoulders and discarded The Thing. He hadn't seen it himself, but the title had stood out. It reminded him of the rock-skinned superhero, but judging by the movie cover, it was not quite the same thing. He looked up when Alexei entered, and grinned at his friend. "Hi! We're going to watch a movie. I found out they have this projector in Muggle Studies, and all this stuff to watch." He told him, holding up another for Wendall to critique. "What about Mama? Looks like a ghost one." He asked. They were always weird to watch, since the ghosts he'd seen were nothing like the ones muggles made movies about.

Ever the workaholic that he was, Mitchell was still awake when he heard noises coming from the classroom. Lighting up the end of his wand, the Muggle Studies professor opened the door to his classroom and looked at the three boys with mild surprise on his face. ''What's this then,'' he asked and then let his eyes fall upon the boy holding one of the many movies. ''A movie night without me?''

"A movie?" Alexei repeated, was he meant to know what that was? Whatever it is, it probably was fun if his friend and roommate were going through all this trouble for a movie. Alexei moves closer to get a better look at the muggle contraction that was a projector according to Lysander. "Won't we get in trouble for not asking permission first?" Alexei voiced his concern, looking over at Wendall. A professor suddenly appears and Alexei jumps in place. He went wide-eyed and quiet from seeing the man.

As Lysander was explaining what a projector was, Star took the movie from the boys hands to peer closer at the cover. He did enjoy a good ghost story, “Yes. This one.” He confirmed, thrusting it back into the boys grip just in time for a man to come into the room. He jumped, shocked that they’d been busted, and for a moment he thought it was the man from the greenhouse but this one was different. And he actually seemed to want to join them. “Do you want to watch too? We have snacks,” he said, lifting up a small bowl of crisps he’d managed to lift from the kitchens. Maybe they wouldn’t be in trouble if they kept him distracted.

Lysander had to pause and think for a moment about how to describe movies. He hadn't known what they were for a long time himself. "A movie is like, moving pictures that tell a story and have voices. This ones a scary one." He warned. He hoped Alexei would stay, so he could see his friend experience a movie for the first time. "Don't worry, we'll only get in trouble if we get cau-" The boy continued, interrupted by the door to the classroom opening. His eyes grew wide, and he turned to look at the professor as Wendall offered snacks. He nodded affirmatively. "And pillows, I brought pillows." He added on.

Initially, Mitchell was going to put whoever was in the classroom in detention for being in his classroom after dark and touching the equipment, but once he saw that it were just three first years he softened from what he had in mind for them. They could be future students of him after all. ''Normally, I would've put you in detention for touching the Muggle equipment without my permission,'' the professor told them. ''It also doesn't work in your favour that it's far past your curfew,'' Mitchell looked from one boy to another, hoping that they would at least see how badly they'd just broken the rules. ''Then again, I've never seen such boldness in students before,'' he added, indicating to the part where they invited him to watch the movie along with them. ''I will allow you to watch a movie tonight, but you must choose from two options. One, I watch movie together with you and will escort you three back to your common rooms once the movie has finished but five house points will be deducted from you each for breaking school rules. Or two, I will leave you to it and go back into my office, I will deduct five house points from each of you still but cannot guarantee that other professors will be so lenient in their punishment as I was when you get caught again.''

Alexei nodded like he was getting ‘it’, the movie sounded like a book since Lysander mention story and pictures. Alexei couldn’t believe Wendall and Lysander decided to ask the professor to join them. Had it been Alexei to have led his friends into a classroom only to get caught minutes later, Alexei wouldn’t have known what to say at first. Alexei lowered his head, he not so pleased with himself for following Wendall when he should’ve stayed in his dorm. Despite getting caught, the professor offered up two options for the boys to make. Alexei held out his index finger, he like the first option over the second one. “First one, please. I never watched a movie before.”

Star listened to the options and it would seem like they would be in trouble regardless, so the professor may well have stayed and enjoyed it too. At least they got to watch the film too and weren't just being sent back to their dorms. He readjusted himself and got back into position, shoving a handful of popcorn into his mouth. The Hufflepuff nodded to the others, agreeing with his house mates decision, and excitedly waited for Lysander to play the film for them. Besides, maybe the professor would fall asleep or get bored and leave them alone anyway.

Lysander shuffled awkwardly under the professors gaze as he listed off the rules they'd broken. He didn't think it was too bad - they just wanted to watch a movie, but it wasn't a good feeling to be told off. His tune changed when the man commented on how bold they were, and he beamed widely. It sounded like something to be proud of, especially for someone in Gryffindor such as him. "Definitely the first one." He agreed with Alexei. He didn't mind if the professor stayed, and it was definitely a lot better than if someone like Professor Styx came along. Or his dad. Then he'd be in real trouble. "Okay, I think this will do it." He said, flicking on the projector and glancing at the professor for confirmation that he was doing it right. As many times as he'd watched movies before, he wasn't super familiar with the machines, and this one was especially different. When it seemed as if the movie was rolling, Lysander took a seat and passed red and gold pillows around from the bulging backpack he'd brought down with him. While the boring pre-film intros scrolled past, Sander turned to the professor. "Do we get to watch many movies if we take your class?" He asked curiously. He didn't know a lot about the subject, there were so many muggles things to learn about, and even with muggle friends, he was still learning all the time.
