Becoming too caught up in the task of delivering roses to make other people happy that valentine's day had resulted in Nixon forgetting to find a date to the Valentine's dance for himself. This meant he was going to attend alone and risk looking like a loser to the rest of the school. Regardless of the fact he would only go with a friend if he remembered to ask someone, rather than an actual 'date', it still meant he would have a date in some sense of the word and thereby and seem cool to everyone else. The mere thought of not going with anyone and seeming like a loser was enough to scare him from attending at all and he almost stayed in his common room for the entire night. Though the Hufflepuff had eventually managed to swallow all his worries, chosen a suit to wear, and then arrived at the great all on time for the festivities to start, believing that not participating in the dance would be one million times worse than going alone. At least if he attended he had the chance to end his day on a high note instead of moping to himself.
Nixon walked in the hall, looking around the decorations in varying shades of red and pink, before walking to the snack table and helping himself to a handful of chocolate hearts. He chewed the sweets, and grabbed another handful, then walked to one of the heart shaped tables and sat down. From where he was sitting, he could see everyone arrive. He hoped that sooner or later he would spot someone familiar so he could talk to them and make the night more worthwhile.
