Locked and Unlocked

Three years in, and Susie still didn't understand why she wasn't allowed to practice magic over the holidays. How was she supposed to retain anything when she couldn't cast any spells for six weeks? It was hard enough when she practised every day! She'd done what she could, reading over her notes in the evenings, practising the incantations without her wand, and so on, but it had apparently been for nothing, because she couldn't even lock a door any more. Colloportus wasn't supposed to be an advanced spell. It was an important one, however, and after a few miserable hours spent trying and failing to lock her suitcase, she finally made her way downstairs to visit Professor Grayveson. Ugh - this was so embarrassing. Susie closed her eyes and knocked on the door.

Mallory had just gotten Nikolay to sleep. Now that Peter was three, he was spending more time with his father, splitting it a little more evenly between them. She kept Nikolay most of the time, as he was still very little. They'd agreed that especially as the boys were younger, she would keep them closer, and they'd slowly work the boys into spending more of their time with their father. For now, though, she had Nikolay with her and Peter going to join her later that week. Now that her room was set up, she was in her office, a few cleaning spells going. She had just started really going through her lesson plans when a knock came on her door. Surprised, Mallory spelled the curtain to her room so they wouldn't bother the baby before motioning for the door to open. She smiled as she saw Susie standing there. "Miss Lagowski, come in, come in. What can I do for you?" She asked.
